Brian Adams coming to SOL in the news... Hope he remembers to bring Squeeze & Extreme. I discovered Extreme at Gateshead Stadium... Only went for a bit Squeeze ;)
Do you not realize that Chris Difford plays lead guitar and is the primary lead singer? Tillbrook almost never sings, he is the lyricist and not all that talented musically, but he writes awesome lyrics.
I was there. About 10 rows back right in the centre. Was a superb gig, Squeeze at their mighty best. Pretty sure the albim that came out was from 2 gigs and not just this one at NEWCASTLE. The video for this was just this one.
It was odd because there wer cameras all over the place and none of us knew why, then Jools Holland came out and explained everything. Made the atmosphere even better. The other thing of note was that this was the City Hall in Newcastle. It isnt renowned for its great accoustics, and back then it was all seating, which also takes away the atmosphere.@@NeverTakeNoCut-offs
bloody hell mates - my senior year in high school I bought the album Argy bargy and I already had cool for cats and I have to say to you ladies and gentleman that I was in love straight away I live in the USA and argy-bargy did not leave my cassette deck for more than one strike and then it went back in straight away!!! I must have bought it three times and I still have it on vinyl and now I can watch them have a go and Glen sound as great as ever!!! Jools Holland is not touring with them now but a great show is live at the Capitol Theatre Port Chester, New York, 2016 November?) and the gentleman who taped it was kind enough to put a set list in time signatures on every song. So ENJOY the Brothers; Sqeeeze!!! And the Cricket's creepy...!) Cheers Fans!!! never mind the bollocks and what's all this argy-bargy anyway...
I had this audio cassette, it was my favorite and played it all the time. Undoubtedly one of the best bands ever that were not that well recognized. Would love to see this line up together again in the future.

Ahhhh yes, the old VHS show. One of the greatest live albums of all time. I remember as a young man getting pissed off by the constant video effects that were added to this(seriously). Almost as if the editors just got some new effects equipment and had to use every single effect possible. Kinda like the Simpsons episode where Homer wants to "Star Swipe" every shot. If you can get past that, it's truly one of the best shows by an extremely talented group. I still laugh out loud every time I hear Jools' instructions at the beginning. Thanks for posting!

Just saw them here on Long Island NY Dec 2 2017 .. trust me we Americans LOVE and appreciate just how good Squeeze are. Tillbrook and Difford are probably one of the best songwriting teams since Lennon and McCartney ..

Ending my freshman yeaR OF HIGH school ... THOSE were the EARLY DAYS of MTV and me seeing tons of new bands NEVER played on my local radio stations
The late Matt Irving. Like Andy Metcalfe before him, Was there largely to play the other keyboard stuff so Jools could play mostly piano. They reverted back to one keyboardist when Jools left, this being his final show I think, great concert. They were all on fire 🔥
Thanks so much for posting this. Wow they are so tight - clearly upped their game for the video! Great audio balance. I love this line up with Jools, Gilson and Keith.
Loved this live CD and Video when it first came out. So much to learn from a songwriting and performance perspective - and Tilbrook and Difford have certainly influenced my original songs
Thanks for posting. One of my favourite live videos from one of my favourite bands. I have been lucky enough to see them live, twice, playing in their backyard at the OnBlackheath Festival. I can confirm, they are still as good live now, as they were back in 1990. If you get a chance, go to see them. They are a brilliant live band, playing brilliant songs.

Not really sure why they let Jools Holland sing at all? Good piano player, not a good singer and definitely can't front a band. Plus, he wants to play old time jazz piano.
what an underated guitarist is Glen Tilbrook
get them on at the Stadium... Will be better than our footy lol. Love Squeeze millions :)
Agreed ..lol..I would go
me too... Sorry just seen your reply mr mackem xx
Its all good Joanne. .lol
Brian Adams coming to SOL in the news... Hope he remembers to bring Squeeze & Extreme. I discovered Extreme at Gateshead Stadium... Only went for a bit Squeeze ;)
Such a natural band they make hard compositions look effortless
Gilson is a wonderful drummer!
He is a beast behind the kit. I could watch him all day.
The guy is basically doing something different with each arm and leg. He’s a beast!
Wow how tight these fantastic musciians are... always enjoyed there music..
This concert is still fantastic 👌👌😎
Glen couldnt sing off key if he wanted too !! Amazing voice !!

Glenn is on fire with the vocals. Especially on Black Coffee.
Wish it wasn't so fast.
It loses its Groove a bit
Thank you for posting all these great Squeeze videos
Glad you like them!
My favourite ever line up I Loved Jools Gilson and Kieth Happy days ❤️
My favourite line up as well,Squeeze are not recognised as the great band they are! up there with Beatles and Kinks!
Glenn is soooo overlooked as a singer and guitarest.l wish my playin was on his level

30 years later......... Thanks Steve. Also thanks to Glenn, Chris, Jools, Gilson, Keith and Matt (RIP). Still love Footprints as the starting song !!
I was at this concert. Newcastle City Hall Thursday 11th January 1990.

A number of bands, artists say Newcastle city hall is their favourite audience, including Hall and Oates

Great songs, great singers, great players. Great.
They are all good vocalist
True Glen has a voice that is truly remarkable.
But without others it just a novelty
Singles, 45's & under.......I think I wore it out. Still know it inside & out
Jesus - glenns leads are so moody blues-y here ... wonderful
Fantastic!!! Gilson Lavis is incredible.
Yes, Dear Joseph, he and the bass player, Keith Wilkinson, radically improved this group over what they had previously been.
Gilson was there very early on 🙄
@@georgegemmell6231 Yes. He was their first.
I know they are GREAT, everyone should know it!
Still have this on VHS. Was taping an episode of Vic Reeves Big Night Out and this concert followed. Glad l got both on tape

Glenn looks just like Anthony Michael Hall in Weird Science.
More like Andrew McCarthy actually…
Maybe the greatest band that most Americans have never heard of!!!!!
Correct Squeeze and Madness both ignored(foolishly) here in the USA
A lot of us know about them. They were very popular here especially in the 80s. They are among my favorites, up there with the Beatles.
