Been listening to Glenn play guitar for over 40 years. Dude is just an incredibly tasty guitar player. Not showy, not bombastic just always adds the perfect compliment to the tune. So good, so good.
Couldn't agree more. A bit of a shame his playing was constrained by the pop music format of the day that didn't embrace more excursions from him on guitar. You can tell he genuinely loves to play.
Better. Lennon and McCarthy in the beginning wrote simple pop songs that read like jotted down notes compared to Squeeze writing in depth songs in paragraph form.
@@betornween COMPLETELY disagree with that assessment. Even the earliest Beatles songs are brilliant. Difford and Tilbrook would be the first people to tell you.
I prefer not to get involved in such arguments but I’ve listened to Squeeze since 1979, saw them in Cardiff (Wales) last week. I don’t own any Beatle records though I respect them. It’s all opinion at the end of the day but as songwriters Glen and Chris are so skilful. If you don’t see that, you don’t appreciate good songwriting.
@tonycharlton4296 Everyone on this thread sees it and knows it. But I've been listening to the Beatles since 1965 AND Squeeze since the Iate 70s. You don't own any Beatles records, so you're uninformed. IMO Lennon/McCartney AND Difford/Tilbrook are the greatest songwriters ever. I put Squeeze only one notch below the Beatles. Amazing songs by all four of them!
Wow, outstanding! Vocals are spot-on after all these years. Squeeze is criminally underrated, and the Difford/Tilbrook songwriting is top-notch. First saw them with Elvis Costello in 1981 . . . keep on!
Daryl Hall does ZERO prep for these shows. Im not sure he had heard some of these songs before. ALL the episodes are like this, too bad they dont release the outtakes where they train-wreck and have to start over. Glenn Kills It as always!
Every time any piece is played, either by the original artist, or other musicians, it should have differences. That's what keeps music alive. every time should be a new experience.
Glenn is super talented! And probably the hardest working man in rock and roll. Has toured almost non-stop since the late 70’s. The only thing that interrupted him were the COVID lockdowns. Thank you for having him on your show.
A little context. Squeeze didn't chart in America but they were the Top of college radio. Then when MTV started, tempted and black coffee were played so much it seemed like every hour. Tempted only went to #49 on the American charts. But unlike streaming radio, fm radio didn't only play #1s. Fm played all the songs up to the top 100. So it might not be statistically a hit but it was played all over the radio when it came out. Hourglass was all over MTV too
So happy that Daryl's House is back Love the show, and watched every episode I could access on YT. Saw Squeeze in '78 and '82, longtime fan. This is the one song that DH should have just played rhythm.
Thank G-d Daryl Hall and crew back and better than ever. Fabulous musicians.Always loved Squeeze, still have a casette tape of theirs! As great as ever Glenn
I was just sharing with a friend the joy my wife and I had when we were able to attend A Squeeze concert in 1993 in a small club in Cincinnati. In my college days, this was on every cassette and at every party.
There's something a little weird about Squeeze music ( so english ) played by an american band... But inviting Tilbrook shows Daryl's good taste in music.
Great performance from all. Glenn is one of the most underrated performers that the UK has ever produced , but with the modesty of the guy I've got a feeling this probably suits him ! Legend.
Love the show, glad it is back. But Daryl needs to spend a little more (any?) time at rehearsal. Brutally obvious the band has spent the time and Daryl has justed phoned it in.
Just fantastic musicianship. On meeting Glenn and getting a selfie, I wish with all my being my wife didn’t say as we faced the camera ‘ No tongues’ 😮😮
What a beautiful pairing. Darrell you are the best and the genius within yourself and now to pick this kicking group squeeze to pair with you is excellent. You sure know how to pick them. A beautiful pairing. It sounds so good.
The Lost Box, finally found!! Song ideas dating back to 1972😱😱😱 This is one amazing revelation from Daryl! Reminds me of Prince's secrey vault of unpublished music ❤❤❤
In the immortal words of Greg kihn, they just don’t write em like that anymore. Listen to how UNREPETITIVE this song is. So many different sections with such distinct yet perfectly interlocking chord progressions. Todays music is the same 4 chords over and over for 5 minutes straight. Then again, so was The Rolling Stones.
Love Daryl, Love glen. H&O were my total jam in college and post college life. 5 concerts, killed their cds. Same with Squeeze. 10 concerts. always loved their music and THIS song is still one of my favorites. it pains me to say they absolutely destroyed this song. unlistenable.
Glenn's voice still one of the best around
Legit, he still sounds great!
@@sagegoodwin1 Hardly changed. Amazing!

Amen! Glenn is an incredibly tasteful player, and brilliant songwriter and singer to boot. Cream of the crop, in my book. ♥
The same could be said about Squeeze as a band... everything is subtle yet it pierces into your soul.
not to mention his vocal abilities!
Difford/Tilbrook songwriting partnership is right up there with Lennon/McCartney and nobody can tell me otherwise.
Barely one notch below!
Better. Lennon and McCarthy in the beginning wrote simple pop songs that read like jotted down notes compared to Squeeze writing in depth songs in paragraph form.

A good song is a good song is good song. Pulling Mussels is a pop masterpiece. That album Argybargy is a great, great album
Argybargy is the best!
Brill to see LFDH back and Glenn Tilbrook. Squeeze must be one of the most underrated UK bands?
Underrated by who?
A bloke I met in the pub. @@mwkelly2
Never underrated, Never understand these sort of comments.
No. @@gizmotron8679
I think he meant they should have had more commercial success.
I went to see Madness and Squeeze were supporting and to be honest Squeeze stole it for me.. I was blown away.
I saw the same tour and totally agree. 5:33

Just this past two years I have seen Glenn play solo at a brewery and Squeeze at Radio City …. Both were AWESOME. ❤❤❤
So thrilled the new episodes are out. Daryl is a genius ❤️❤️❤️❤️
this show was such a joy! Glenn's voice is impossibly beautiful! the whole band and Daryl were fantastic. What songs!!!!
Saw Squeeze in 1983 and 2023. So so great both times!!!

amazing.🎉🎉🎉🎉
One of the greatest songs ever written.
Major props to Charlie, Eliot, and the other band members!
Perfect absolutely perfect pop song - Nick and Dave Edmunds and Marshall Crenshaw and Elvis Costello….I could go on for awhile….
Glenn is super talented! And probably the hardest working man in rock and roll. Has toured almost non-stop since the late 70’s. The only thing that interrupted him were the COVID lockdowns. Thank you for having him on your show.
Glenn is overly humble here. Love this set
I love Glenn ❤ He’s so talented. 🎉
There's something funny about Daryl Hall singing about Camber Sands.
So great to see Daryl and the band back on the series! You have been missed! Glenn was an awesome first guest.
I love you, Darrell, and I love the show! BUT PLEASE LEARN THE ARTISTS SONGS FOR GOD SAKE!

Tempted is my least favorite song, yet the one most people know them for. Hourglass is a great song.
@@escapemac Incredible song!
Forgot how many hits squeeze had. Excellent choice.
I’m so impressed how you guys melt into the music from these various amazing artists and it becomes everyone’s music! Awesome
Well done Glen.Holding us proud as brits. Playing at Daryls is great. you did us proud. Guk.
I was lucky enough to attend a performance of both Hall & Oates and Squeeze on the same bill in Brighton UK in the late 70s/ early 80s

british soul and american soul 2 of the best voices

This is amazing! One of my favorite songs shared with another one of my favorite singers!
Damn!!!
How good was that music fans???
Geezus!!!
So friggin good man!!

Who's the drummer? As a bassist I say he KICKS IT!
Brian Dunne is the drummer 👍
Yeah! Elliot got a nice solo in this one. Great harmonies.
This is exactly what I expect from Daryl’s house!!! Welcome back!!!!
Glenn looks and sounds great!
Great job ! Love the harmonies too!
Thanks guys!
Fantastic!

Only 40 ? I grew up with this guy from early teens a true talent Kisses Glenn and no skating at Streatham !
Welcome back, Daryl!!!!!! Best music show.
Best one yet. cracking song.......
What a beautiful pairing. Darrell you are the best and the genius within yourself and now to pick this kicking group squeeze to pair with you is excellent. You sure know how to pick them. A beautiful pairing. It sounds so good.
So glad Daryl spoke about the tapes he found. Wanted to hear about them when idiot Bill M interviewed him but never did.........
Great cover!
Excited for the new season--glad LfDH is back!
Good to hear this Squeeze classic always enjoy Daryls House show
The keyboard player nailed it!
And on a bargain basement Roland VR09 keyboard , but I’m biased cos I use one myself , great session with very accomplished musicians
Thats brilliant, wow!
Just love this show
Love this song ! Can't wait to hear what's in that box ! 💕🎶
Glenn is great - new to his music
So glad you guys are back.
Man! SO good!!! Glen sounds AMAZING!!
Wonderful to have LFDH back! Squeeze great choice for first in so long.
And I feel like William Tell. " Pulling Mussels From A Sheel"❤
Daryl and Glenn are great together!! So glad y'all are back making awesome JAM at Daryl's House!!!
The anecdote at the end reminds me of the story of the Mermaid Avenue albums, except the writer is still with us.
Timeless beauty!
Love Glen and Squeeze
Such a great episode to bring back this show to life. Damn Good.
That sounded good all of your music does Daryl.
Just wonderful
Really glad to have em back and being a musician I know how hard clean live takes are but the lyric bobble was pretty obvious.
That is just sooo good!
Just excellent!!!
Wow! What an awesome find to find all of those tapes! I hope that someday we can hear some of those ideas fully developed. 🤩
What A treat. Thank you.
Awesome ❤️Love this song ❤️🙏😘❣️✨❣️

Love this!
Argybargy! What an album!
Stunning😊
You got it, D! Just keep keeping up with Glenn. You both are an institution.
NICE!!!
awesome!

Boom.

He writes some really tasty melodies
This is most excellent. My only disappointment is no Up The Junction.
Damnit Daryle upload the high resolution versions. What is it with the 360p 1980s cam corder stuff.

the old Towne Crier Pawling ,NY?
feels like you haven't quite nailed the british Squeeze sound quite yet ... keep going xx
❤
Great video, but is there a show? Did I miss something?
❣❣❣❣
Not half bad.😊
This song has only one pattern,........then you repeat til the song ends,.....that's it.
Hate to say it...Daryl's voice has fallen off a LOT since the last season...he's earned it, but still. Had to happen sometime I suppose
Daryl needs to let the lead singer...lead.
I think Daryl needed to study up a bit more on this one…just sayin’.
