Boomers often dismiss Millennials and Gen Z when we complain about making 20% less than our parents, having to pay twice as much for a house (adusting for inflation), tuition costs, etc... If Boomers have the gall to complain about us complaining an “okay, Boomer” is more than warranted.

A decent minimum wage, national health insurance and labour unions are completely normal to most European countries and that certainly does not make them communist. So true. But we actually evolve with every generation so the next generation is technically more advanced and intelligent than us because they know all what we know and more. On the other hand, older generation has already experienced life, so they are wiser than the new generation it's just that not all their values will work because societies tend to change with time, so while younger generation should absolutely listen to the older generation, they should also work on creating a better world.
I mean they're not wrong, gen zs are the most educated gen yet because education is no longer seen as a privilege compared to the previous generations. Also, with the appearance of the Internet and digital world, you can practically search for anything on the internet right now. The purple penguin Well by including at least one lgbtq person it really makes it more diverse and makes me feel like we’re normalizing it I mean that’s the whole goal of lgbtq is to have it normalized and more accepted.
“genz has peter pan syndrome” um no. we have to grow up at a young age to help with money, handle divorces of parents, deal with anxiety and depression, go through an awful school system, and more. a lot of genz heard “you’re so grown up for your age” because we have been forced to. and when we can finally take a break we want to catch up on what we post in childhood. we don’t have peter pan syndrome. we want to know what a normal childhood is.
Brighteye21 it’s so sad that this is true. Ever since quarantine started, I’ve started to have extreme anxiety, a fact the fact that my mom thinks it’s a mindset is not helping. I’ve gone through extreme bullying, and nobody did anything. The most she got is a warning, and quarantine triggered that sense of loneliness. As a Gen Z, you can't know how I can be proud of the older population. They don't know what we know, but we don't know what they knew. I had grandparents that I couldn't met, bit if I did, I would spend a lot of times with them, I don't understand how this generation can be disrespectful towards their grandparents and the older population in general
The disrespect Usually happens when the older generation puts down the youth telling them to grow up and stuff to put them down but I can see what your trying too say
I feel like a lot of older people think people just see an old person and go “ok boomer” when that’s not what it is. The term is usually just used when an old person is disrespecting or invalidating the opinions of younger generations. Or just being plain ignorant. Some people do just say it but the term itself isn’t really meant to hate on someone for their age or anything. There is sometimes people that overuse it for no reason tho.
I think we all can agree to the question that older gen always leave problems which might be fixed by the younger generation . Because everyone creates a problem which gradually gets solve.

Actually, I would consider the boomers to be the ones to question everything. Boomers where teenagers and 20 year Olds during the Vietnam War meaning that some of them would've been hippies and joined the protests against the war. And they dealt with parents and older people disapproving of everything they've done.
THANK YOU!!!! My dad always tells me your generation this and your generation that and its hard to explain to him that he is talking about 2 completely different generations. 1 generation is soft and likes to fit in and be well liked while the other is very much “im like this and if you don’t like it get out of my face” (these are ofc stereotypes but most people that i have seen in these two generations are exactly like that)
I really wish they brought in younger gen z’ers, since we/they (the teenagers) are more of the ones making ok boomer jokes. I haven’t seen many people in their twenties on tik tok and making jokes like that
ikr i wish the gen z´ers would´ve been sixteen, eighteen and twenty or at least smthng like that since the ages twenty and twenty one are closer to being a very young millenial
Im a member of Gen X with a son who turns 21 this year ... I have heard boomer out of his and his friends mouths as well as others of that age, most of these are not making jokes however.
“I think that harping on generational disparities is not only incredibly ignorant, but also totally counterproductive in the sense that each generation’s struggles are an opportunity to grow instead of displacing blame on one’s predecessors like idiots” …nobody but me? Oh, okay.
“Gen z has the Peter Pan syndrome, they don’t ever want to grow up” Well by the looks of things and how bad the boomers ruined this planet we probably won’t be able to
Humans rights for all unless they’re mentally insane and belong in a mental hospital, which there is a lot of people who belong in a mental hospital, just go to Los Angeles or San Francisco.

“Ok Boomer” started as a joking rebuttal to older generations shutting down the voices of the younger generations because of their age. The fact the boomers (or just old people in general) can’t understand that just adds fuel to the flame. Edit: I am aware of what is representes to some people but why are we acting as if “ok boomer” is something used in real life? Ageist mentalities exist and have existed long before ok boomer. Yeah ageist people could use it but most people on the internet which is where it is almost always used is as a joke.
Eloquently stated but missing one big aspect of context. You can't make a statement, expect someone to understand your subjective meaning and never actually explain it to them because you've completely dismissed their perspective due to their age. Apply this comment however you like. Understanding comes from communication not just making a statement you thought was funny. Voices have been shut down from all sides.
@Tell Dalzonthank you. Context is important with everything in life. The quip "OK Boomer" was certainly meant as a joke but simultaneously disrespectful to some when they realise it's also used as a way of dismissing an older generation. My grandparents where from the Great Generation, born in the early 1900's. My parents as well as my generation, Gen X would never conceive of saying something like that to them. We had major generational differences as well. I would add culture plays a part in this too. Respect and care of older generations was once important in America. That's no longer the case. But for those of us from immigrant families it still matters quite a bit. I for one welcome the perspective of my elders and I'm in my 50's.
stop treating people as groups and as individuals. just because an older person "disrespected" another person of your age, doesn't mean you have to be disrespectful to other older people .

They're really the first generation to take economic wealth from their kids as opposed to ensuring that their kids could build upon it
If the younger generation even consider it a problem to begin with
I think at least for me there's a frustration level with older generations create problems for the younger generations to solve because they often times have the solution they just chose not do it because politics and people who refuse to see the issue as a problem in the first place

Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.
Wiser because experience, they have lived longer and have experienced more than what the gen after has. However, it can be hit or miss with how the society is constantly evolving.

I mean if u want a kid its better to adopt. The world is over populating anyways so no need to bring other people here.
You don't know how much times I've cried thinking about this
People need to understand that gen z and millenials are different.
Gen z would actually drop kick a cop while millennial eat avocado toast

THANK YOU!!!! My dad always tells me your generation this and your generation that and its hard to explain to him that he is talking about 2 completely different generations. 1 generation is soft and likes to fit in and be well liked while the other is very much “im like this and if you don’t like it get out of my face” (these are ofc stereotypes but most people that i have seen in these two generations are exactly like that)
@@LJ-np3gc SPIT THOSE FACTS
I really wish they brought in younger gen z’ers, since we/they (the teenagers) are more of the ones making ok boomer jokes. I haven’t seen many people in their twenties on tik tok and making jokes like that
I think they didn't do it because those would be minors.
It’d weird having teens going up against adults...
YES
ikr i wish the gen z´ers would´ve been sixteen, eighteen and twenty or at least smthng like that since the ages twenty and twenty one are closer to being a very young millenial
Im a member of Gen X with a son who turns 21 this year ... I have heard boomer out of his and his friends mouths as well as others of that age, most of these are not making jokes however.
“I think that harping on generational disparities is not only incredibly ignorant, but also totally counterproductive in the sense that each generation’s struggles are an opportunity to grow instead of displacing blame on one’s predecessors like idiots”
…nobody but me? Oh, okay.
“Gen z has the Peter Pan syndrome, they don’t ever want to grow up”
Well by the looks of things and how bad the boomers ruined this planet we probably won’t be able to
Honey be careful there are enough fires
*Damn*
How did their generation specifically ruin the planet? Genuine question.
Just a Teapot it’s a joke mate (kinda)

Humans rights for all unless they’re mentally insane and belong in a mental hospital, which there is a lot of people who belong in a mental hospital, just go to Los Angeles or San Francisco.

“Ok Boomer” started as a joking rebuttal to older generations shutting down the voices of the younger generations because of their age. The fact the boomers (or just old people in general) can’t understand that just adds fuel to the flame.
Edit: I am aware of what is representes to some people but why are we acting as if “ok boomer” is something used in real life? Ageist mentalities exist and have existed long before ok boomer. Yeah ageist people could use it but most people on the internet which is where it is almost always used is as a joke.
couldn't have said this better myself!
Not true. The “ok boomer” started by the younger generations as an insult to people who hold values that are typically viewed as traditional
NGL this one is so much better talking topic about Boomers vs Gen Z than the others vids. This has so much understanding and sharing stuff without trying to stop other talking. KUDOS!
If your biggest insult someone has ever said to you was, “okay boomer” you’ve had an extremely privileged life

@phoenixkhost OK boomer
@@Reggie_Bhuges I could care less about any backstory and thanks cause I don't need you "arguing" with me... There are many words that have awful backstories and one of two things happen to them. They're either never or very rarely used. Or they're over used and lose all the power that the awful backstory gave them. The N word however, for some reason can be used by anyone with a designated skin colour, even if they're *not from the US*, which is where its demeaning usage really began. All I'm saying is, if you make it okay for people with a certain percentage of melanin in their skin to say, it everyone should be able to say. Or no one should.
Ethan dude I’m 21 years old and was called the n word yesterday lol. Do you know what I’d do to be called a boomer when people got mad at me instead of that. 🙃🙃🙃🙃

@@tundraart2693 Yeah I was saying I wish they had younger Gen Z rather then the 20+ year olds
@@tundraart2693 I'm 22. There used to be a time when people my age were not sure whether we would be grouped into the younger millennials or older Gen Z. As far as I know, the definition has been pretty clear the past 4 years or so. So I think I agree. But I also would say that I'm not sure we would get as structured opinions from younger people on exactly this topic.
I'm an older gen z and I agree they should have had 2 teens and 1 20year old that way most of gen z is represented
