- THE SUB2000 GEN-3.
You’re looking at the third generation of our semi-automatic carbine that folds in half, optics and all.
Initially in 9mm, the SUB2000 GEN3 picks up where handguns leave off.
Folded, it tucks away nicely in situations where space is limited, but it’s quick to deploy in situations where time is of the essence.
It took S&W lighting a fire under them but this is a definite improvement over the Gen 2 models!
"It took S&W dropping 3 models that ripped off Kel-Tec in 2023..."
There, I fixed the beginning of your statement.
I guess the upside is that S&W had a better 2023 than they did in 2022, where they released the worst gun of the year by a long shot: the CSX. 😂🎉
Keltec has been toying with this since shotshow 2019... The only thing Smith can take credit for, is stealing the idea to make a folding carbine.
@@joeytomatoHotchkiss FMG. Keltec is just soo dumb they made this gun fold over the top so it would be impossible to fold it with optics until they made their Gen 3
@@CornbreadFedOleSon they made the first one in the early 2000s give them a break. s&w has copied/improved a bunch of keltec designs, ruger copied the keltec p3at and made the lcp out of it. Keltec lowkey invented the first doublestack micro 9mm with the keltec p11
@@CornbreadFedOleSon With a Red Lion fore end I can rotate my optic to one side, my hand stop the other side and my flashlight to the bottom of the rail as I fold it all neatly away. I've been able to do that since Gen1.
Okay, the twist is what was needed to make this awesome
Sense red lion made this for them a decade ago its about time its just part of the gun
I could do without the reciprocating charging handle…
a favorite of the nashville lgbt community
It also lends a great amount of durability over the old design, I’d guess.
Could have been done years ago. Little too late now to man better options and I'm not paying over 600 for a sub 2000 anyone says they got one cheaper is lying I live next to kel tec corp so they don't get any cheaper from here.
Love my Gen 2 and would absolutely get a Gen 3 if it was in .45acp or even 10mm
Exactly. It's a carbine. Give it in 1cm or it's missing out on max potential.
I think 10mm is the about-to-happen trend in the PCC arms race.
10mm would be awesome!!
10mm is high enough pressure it might have to be a locked breech. that would be a fairly drastic redesign.
@@warhorse03826Hi Point figured it out. I’m sure Kel Tec could do it.
Nailed it. This is exactly what this gun has needed and I'm glad I've waited to get one til now
But what's the price 🤔
$425
The S2K has always held its place as the bug out bag gun of choice due to price and functionality. Way to go KelTec by refining your products to make them functionally better while not raising prices tremendously.
LOL fuck no.
Why would you choose this as a bug out option if there’s an AR or AK with actual rifle rounds ?? 😂
"bag" gun hint hint@@surfingtothestars
@@surfingtothestars comprehend much? Bag option guy…. Can’t fit an AR in a backpack.
@@SuperCooperTown you can easily fit a 10" or under in one
Wow....this changes everything....they still need a 22lr version of this.
I agree! I would have gone out and bought one right after watching this.
I think 5.7 would be a better idea, especially now that we don't only have mags from just FN, but now from PSA and S&W now.
5.7 is a joke. 22lr all the way
bruh, you are so right, caliber choice would be revolutionary, like mentioned below, 5.7, and 22lr, but also 22mag, and even 10mm, all calibers that already have pistol mags available, they would fly off the shelves
5.7 has its place, except its too damn expensive @@tekxmcfly6159
Lol, heck yeah, no wonder the Gen 2 has been on clearance everywhere.
This one ☝🏻 I’ll get, thanks KelTec.
I'm perfectly happy with my Gen 2 and iron sights, thank you.
Yeah I've been wanting to get a Gen 1 because I've never used any of the new additions they made for the Gen 2 and the old ones have better sights and a way better barrel lockup.
Though, I still get this as my second. why not?
agreed! I mounted a 45 degree mount for my green dot and I can still fold it and lock it, perfectly fine!
God dammit.
Of course they announce a new Sub2000 after I just ordered a brand new Gen 2 yesterday. Now that $100 off rebate makes sense...
*bangs head against wall*
it’s ok, you and me can both cry together while we wait for our $100… i got mine over a month ago and i can say it’s very good gun. accurate, no issues, very easy to clean and service. only thing that sucks is point of aim. you will 100% need to either do a rear sight delete, or upgrade. i got a notch sight from MCARBO that folds down allowing me to use the holosun 407b on mine
@@lovekairos Definitely plan on upgrading to the MCarbo rear sight and the Red Lion folding front sight to run a red dot.
Same thing happened to me with the Beretta Tomcat Covert. Smoking deal at $249 (after $150 rebate), no regrets but *damn* I want the new 30X now too.
I didn't know that I needed this..... Until Now! (Along with the KSG in .410)
An improved twist for a soon-to-be classic!
This fixes all the problems I had with the Sub2000
That overcomes the biggest problem with the gun, well done .
I like how they enlarged the ejection port even more and added a brass deflector for lefties
Finally!!!!! There was an aftermarket twist hand guard for years!! I guess keltec caught on
Yes the Red Lion fore end. I've had it on my Gen1 and Gen2 when I sent my Gen1 in to get upgraded. It works great. I have flashlight on one side, the red dot on top and a hand stop on the bottom. I can rotate it to the empty side and it folds nicely and it still fits in my laptop bag.
I'm glad to see Admin promoting for this slick new upgrade! :)
"Does it take Glock Mags?" 🤣🤣🤣
Seriously, very cool, Kel-Tec. Gonna have to get one.
The answer is of course....Yes.
Mine does.
I'm glad that I chose to avoid the S&W FPC. I'm looking forward to seeing this hit the market.
Oh, that addresses one of the largest issues with the carbine, so good idea.
Me owning a gen 2 and looking at the new folding system with tears in my eyes.....
Woah, the twist makes a huge difference
KelTec is my favorite gun company. Thank you for doing cool stuff.
It this came in 10mm it would dominate the packable market.
A shame most 10mm ammo is loaded to .40 cal specs. There's only a couple brands like Buffalo Bore who loads it correctly.
It makes almost no sense in 9mm, compared to braced models that we can get.
@@justinkase1360except the ATF doesn't like the braced models right now.
It’s for rubes regardless of caliber. When you miss with 10, what’s the difference? It’s not as if you hit someone in the shoulder with 10 and they stop.
@@HWG-wm8ld Have you ever been hit in the shoulder with a 10mm? I’ll guarantee you’ll stop long enough for round two…lol
Love it, now if there was a conversion kit for our Gen2
omg, a full minute of opening and closing the gun! so impressive....
I've been wanting a Sub 2000 and now I want one even more! 🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
ill love my gen 2 forever!
If we could just get this in a 10 mm, you could dispatch two legged and four-legged predators very easy
You really think that matters?
It’s garbage in any caliber.
@@HWG-wm8ldwhat makes you feel that way?
@@HWG-wm8ld Troll.
At last ! Bravo keltec . Now it s perfect .
I ll get one .
I literally just bought a Gen 2 a week ago CRAAAAAAAAP!
Let’s not forget that kel-tec sub 2000 was only good with the mcarbo upgrade kit. The feed ramp was trash, the bolt was beyond heavy and the trigger was horrible. It’s great that they have the twist allowing you to keep the fixed optic. I’m hoping the new improvements also come with fixing the old issues
They sure didn't mention any of that in the promo, did they. I guess we'll see.
It's got a new aluminum trigger
I have no problems with the bone stock Sub2k and neither do 95% of it's owners. The feed ramp is fine, the bolt is too light if anything which is why all the upgrade kits increase the weight, and the trigger is perfectly usable if you don't suck ass at shooting.
They fixed some of the other stuff too. The trigger is much better on the gen 3. Mine breaks about 4.5lbs. Also the gen 3 comes with the the upgraded aluminum trigger.
It would be great if you could retrofit that barrel hinge on a gen 2
Now if they only made it in 10mm, a dream come true.
Definately an upgrade from the older Gens 🙌 looks amazing!!!❤️
Sick! I love the new folding design. I had to drop a ton of extra money to get my sub2k gen 2 MCarbo'ed.
well, time to sell my gen 2! good job guys this thing look awesome
Okay im fully interested in finally getting it now with this improvement made here
I knew when these were on sale for $299 something was up. I have a gen1, gen2 and now I guess I’ll over pay for a gen3
Man, you fell for them all
@@HWG-wm8ld there are worse hobbies!
Wait til gen 4 then it will be affordable
Now that's pretty awesome, I bet S&W's design team wish they had done this - instead of simply copy your homework
Good jib keltec. That was the one problem I had with the last one. All fixed now.
YES!!!!!! AMERICAN INNOVATION! Beautiful design Keltec!
got to say. I'm actually impressed
Been wanting one of these for a while. The new gen just sealed it for me. I now need to get one
I could definitely be on board here
This is an absolutely elegant solution compared to what the aftermarket was putting out.
If there's one (two) things I'd like to see updated in the Keltec line, it's the RDB and RFB. Both could really use some love, ESPECIALLY the RFB.
Red lion made this rail a decade ago ..glad they just are making it standards and I agree this in 5.7 and 22 is a must
Finally. Good grief. Side folding would have been easy but Im glad you guys finally did this one. Whew
Side folding makes it bulkier because the folded halves are not in line with the grip. One of the biggest shortcomings of the FPC IMHO.
@@thomashoffman5745 Yes but when you add the optic to this you now have the same problem as its get thicker and is not on the same plane
@2442flag Not if you have the rotating front grip from Red Lion. Also...the gen3 Sub2K also has a rotating front grip. It all lines up.
was so tempted to jump on gen 2 a few months ago. glad I waited!
Sub2000 continues to evolve. nice.
The improved folding, along with the new trigger and ambi charging handle means I'm on board for this gun finally.
There are no other upgrades other than the fold/twist
@@jerroddooley374 Not in this video, but the trigger was upgraded to an aluminum one, and the trigger mechanism is improved for a better trigger pull. The charging handle has also been redesigned to be easier to operate, as well as making it able to lock to either side.
Now if they would just make the forend and consequently the pic rails out of metal it would be even better. Since you are at the moment mounting your optic to plastic that can deform when you tighten your optic and in fact you can deviate your optic by simply gripping the forend too hard.
@@CapeFearSurvival I think you're overstating that somewhat.
Also, the point of this gun is to be lightweight. So, plastic parts instead of metal parts are a trade off it makes to gain lightness. If you want metal everything, look at a different gun.
@@triggerfingerstudios I don't mean to say everything should be metal. I do however think the base for your optic should be completely rigid since what is the point of a lightweight rifle if your optic can't hold zero. I have a gen2 with mcarbo mount and I still don't like it because it is still bolted to a plastic forend. I guess maybe you can't ask much more for the price and what it's meant for.
If someone would make an aluminum forend or receiver I would buy it in a hearbeat.
I've got a gen 2 40 cal, that shoots the 165 gr bullets better than 180 gr. It's alot of fun, making repeated hits at 100yards seem easy. I actually started carrying a 5th gen glock and the Sub2000 as a truck gun backup.
Would be nice if this was offered as an aftermarket upgrade for gen 2 owners. Maybe mcarbo will come up with something
This.
From the looks of it would just be the front and rear stock needed to be replace on the Gen2. It was hard to even find the Gen 2 in stock at my LGS.
They kinda already have one and it actually looks better imo. It’s the red lion forend.
@@JohnDoe-le4nr man I just looked this up it looks awesome 👍🏽. I've never heard of this before. I might order one
So glad I’ve waited, this was the improvement I needed, definitely adding to the collection this year
That looks like a really fun plinking rifle!
This is cute, and I'm very glad you came to market with a solution to compete with other companies trying to one up you so to speak with copy cat platforms that had this capability. Very cool!
This in 5.7 would be fantastic
Nice adaptation, I wish I had known about this one coming. I would have waited to get one. But I love mine anyway,
So glad I held off on getting a Gen 2 at these sale prices! XD A 7.62x25mm Tokarev model would be awesome.
"I need to get te drug supply from keltec" in all seriousness, this goofy carbine is actually become a pretty decent fire arm now.
Very nice. Waiting for the 40smith version to hit. Will be purchasing(Yah willing)
Nice! Get me one before S&W copies it. ;)
Lol, FPC still better than this twist, S&W will not downgrade their gen1 to copy this gen3
Ruger is rubbing their hands.
I will get one, as soon as I can. Keltec PF-9 is part of my EDC and this Gen 3 will be a daily backup very soon
Excellent, way to go Kel Tec
Gotta say Keltec, it's about damn time!✌️
Now its time to get one of these!
What an improvement!
I want to be mad that I have a Gen 2. But they're so cheap, why not have 2?
I'm in the same boat well said my friend.
came to figure out if gen 3 was better, but I see no difference
Take that Smith and Wesson!! Love Keltec!!!
The twist is great and all but did you replace the PLASTIC FEED RAMP, PLASTIC TRIGGER GUARD, AND ALL OTHER PLASTIC PIECES OF THE FIREARM THAT SHOULD BE METAL????
This!!! The S2K has an issue where the plastic trigger parts wear out prematurely, it needs a metal trigger components
They upgraded the trigger… check out the specs on the gen 3
@@SuperCooperTown still has a PLASTIC FEED RAMP 🤦
How much do you want to pay? Metal or plastic price. You get what you pay for
@@patrapper7367 you completely missed the point. They upgraded other plastic parts to metal but not the feed ramp.
Thanks I was the one who asked for tac rails, love you guys
Now that's innovation. 👍
Having had the Gen 2 Sub 2000 and now the FPC, I feel that the FPC is far superior, especially because I love my M&P 9s. Way better trigger, pistol grip, and cheek weld. No need for MCARBO upgrades, just add a red dot, sling, light and you're done.
Mcarbo really made the sub2k enjoyable to shoot
What a Twist! I wonder if all of M Carbos upgrades will still work with this
Want one of these SOOOO bad.
now thats an improvement. id like to get one
Now I'm gonna have to give Mcarbo even more money...
LETS GO KEL-TEC!!!! THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT BABY!!!!
I was so excited watching this video that @1:15 I though the dog was going to jump out and start busting caps.
This is really cool! Still wish it had a non reciprocating charging handle
The inability to fold with an optic is why I went with the SW FPC. If keltec can produce these in quantity to meet demand, have a nonreciprocating charging handle (to save beard hairs), and just make it feel less flimsy, Id be all over it. I still think the FPC is just a better shooting gun.
Yeah, the bolt handle is one of the biggest selling points to me on the FPC. I know Keltec could easily make that a non-reciprocating bolt handle if they wanted to.
Would love to see a gen 2 RDB and PLR/SU-16. Even something as simple as improved polymer as the 16s tend to eat themselves with high pressure ammo and increased backpressure muzzle devices.
Mines on it's way, can't wait!
Great idea!
Explains the rebates
The girls going to Nashville with this one!
Now this I'll probably buy.
That's what everyone has been waiting for.
Finally able to run it with optics and not have to take it off everytime you fold it.
Can't wait for mine to arrive!!!
Oh man, that almost looks kinda cool.
I’m not gonna but one, but it’s certainly neat.
Gentlemen, we are in the Golden Age of firearms.
This solves a problem 👍👍👍
Still gonna get the fpc from s&w.. glad keltec fixed the mount problem but the fpc just seems better and I love the extra mag holders
22 magnum Sub2k Please!!!!
Love my gen 2 but this gen 3 is a way better improvement!
This is proof they listen to the market!
i just bought the gen2 version 2 weeks ago, god damit!
I bought mine two DAYS ago (12/30, 6pm).
*"Available at a gun shop near you 3rd quarter 2027."*
It's literally available online right now for $400.
Would really love to see keltec make a similar folding rifle in 44 mag, something for bear protection and hunting that could fit in a backpack and stay light weight. More importantly, be legal for canada, where pistols are basically illegal
