This is a very informative video. I wish that responsible firearms owners in Britain would be allowed to concealed carry with adequate and appropriate training. I'm from London and in the 1970's and 1980's there were too many pointless terrorist attacks on very many targets claiming many innocent victims; one that sticks in my mind was the Tower of London bombing in the mid-70's where eight children were horrifically injured. On different occasions armed members of terrorist groups were chased through London by usually unarmed Police Officers and definitely unarmed civilians. If trained people had been on the streets then perhaps the deaths of many people could have been avoided.
My Dad was a Policeman in London but we moved to Norfolk after a man held a gun to my Dad's face and pulled the trigger. For some inexplicable reason the round failed to detonate and my Dad was able to batter the man into surrendering with nothing but his left fist and his wooden truncheon. Years later, in the depths of rural Norfolk, a man opened fire on my Dad with a single-barreled .410 shotgun. The man fumbled a reload and my Dad was able to subdue him. All of the above took place before the banning of semi-automatic long arms and normal sized pistols.
Nowadays terrorists use vehicles, machetes, knives but rarely guns in our cities but still the Police Officers are expected to, and do, put themselves between those desiring harm and those that the Police have sworn to protect. How different it might all be if highly trained civilians (ex-military, ex-police and well vetted firearms owners) were allowed to bear weapons to protect the public. Would the monsters who murdered Fusilier Lee Rigby have chanced death to attack a defenceless man? I think we might have found them less ardent in their desires if several bullets into their centre mass had been on the cards rather than life in prison.
May I say in closing that I enjoy all of your videos very much indeed. Thank you.

    • @hrfunk
      @hrfunk  5 лет назад +12

I have a great deal of respect for the police officers in your country. There is no way I would do the job if I was not afforded adequate tools to perform my duties safely. Yet most officers officers in the UK hit the streets every day without the benefit of firearms. The dangers are all still there, regardless of there devotion to duty. When I was in London in 2012, some criminal called in a false report to the local police station. When two officers responded, he ambushed them with an AK47 and hang grenades. So much for the fallacy of gun control.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for a great comment. I hope your government comes around at some point and affords it’s citizens the means to defend themselves. Your country is to great to be sacrificed on the alter of failed social policies.

I love my sub 2000. I also installed the MCarbo trigger, rear sight, flip up red dot mount, and rear tube cover. It ate every ammunition I fed through it and I wasn't having trouble. But I wanted something more durable that I can depend on. I love what polymers do for firearms but not polymer trigger. It now fires like a dream and is very accurate. I also recommend you buy the sub 2000 Gummy Bear protector. It's 17 bucks and it's a piece of plastic that covers the barrel and chamber when the rifle is folded. It prevents Gummy bears from falling into the action when stored in a back pack. Hence the name. Also an added advantage with a PCC is in any active situation you may encounter pistol cartridges tend to not travel like a rifle cartridge. So less chance of you shooting grandma down the block in exchange of fire. It keeps the rounds more localized. It's why it's my preferred home defense rifle. I love this rifle. For self defense at home, as camp gun. Hiking gun, and it fits wonderfully in motorcycle saddle bags. Paired with 33 round magazine it's a formidable weapon.

I recently purchased a sub 2000 Gen 2 9mm. It takes the glock magazines so I now have a reason to purchase a glock for magazine compatibility. I currently have a cz75 and a s&w shield in 9mm so I will probably trade my cz in and buy a glock...makes me wince just thinking about it. Lol. But for the compatibility I think it'll be worth it. I have shot between 150 and 200 rounds from the sub 2000 out to 100yards and not only was I able to hit the targets fairly easy but I was able to fire rapidly and hit the target several times. I'm not a trained police officer or sniper by any stretch but I believe I can defend myself and those around me if need be and I can do it effectively with the sub 2000.

And since I already had a bunch of M&P 40 magazines this worked out perfect. I am not sure how accurate this is. But I have been told that I am gaining about 250 to 300 feet per second. Good point about the backpack I went out and found a single strap laptop bag that was designed to carry an 19 inch Laptop. Holds several magazines and I can still put my M&P 40 in there too.

I have to say, that doesn't really seem practical. Carrying around a backpack with a carbine folded up in it EVERYWHERE you go, on the one in ten million off-chance that you might run into an active shooter situation one day?? If someone is really that concerned, carry a Glock 19 or a comparable semi-auto in a holster. Odds are overwhelming you'll never need it in your life. I get the advantages of a semi-auto rifle over a pistol but you have to temper it with reason. The inconvenience of lugging a backpack around with you everywhere you go for the rest of your life isn't justified by the advantages you'd get from the rifle when you factor in the astronomical improbability that you'll ever need either one.

It's interesting to get a LEO's take on the Sub 2000. I agree with you on every point you make and it seems to me it's a HECK of a lot better as a go-to firearm when things go bad in a mall or a school than a standard pistol.
Can you see a use for it in law enforcement? Perhaps with a three-round burst option added as well? Surely it's portability alone makes it worth considering since it would be very easy to store inside a Crown Vic or even smaller police vehicles?
Would it be useful for motorcycle officers/Border Patrol members etc. on quads/cops on bicycles?
I wonder if we will see it in other calibres, eventually, too: .357 Magnum would be interesting, or it's close 'cousin' .30 Carbine.
The M1 Carbine fulfilled an imporant role using just that hardhitting round in the past for police forces in several countries and in that calibre and this configuration law enforcement would have a folding rifle which reaches out to 100 yards easily.
    Best wishes, and stay safe!

For most LE uses, I think the AR platform is superior. Where the S2K really shines is in roles where it has to be carried in the least amount of space such as brief cases and/or back packs, etc. missions like dignitary protection and SRO duties where the appearance of any black rifle might cause undue anxiety, the S2K can be carried more easily in less space than any other long gun I could find. Folded, it is essentially the same length as the AR from the end of the buffer tube to the front of the receiver (in other words, it’s the length of an AR with no barrel).
I carry mine in my brief case just about every day, and its presence is quite reassuring. I’m not sure that we will see a .357 or .30 carbine variant of the S2K. The greater length of those two cartridges would probably necessitate a good deal of design re-engineering. I agree with you though, the idea of an S2K chambered for one of those cartridges has a lot of appeal. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

Good citizens should be armed all the time, not just police officers. A 9 mm Keltec sub 2K paired with a Glock 9 mm makes sense to me. You could even go the route of a Beretta M9 variant in buying your Sub to K that except Beretta magazines. I’m not sure if Keltec still manufactures the sub 2K that accepts Beretta M9 magazines. The sub 2K is a excellent little pistol carbine. As for what to wear clothing wise it makes sense to be the “ Gray man”. In my younger years I liked tactical type clothing. However I no longer dress like that. Better to dress like I just got off the golf course or in some other casual manner that does not attract attention. I don’t want attention from police officers or from criminals. There are too many police officers out there that do not like armed good guys. They have a core belief that only people that work for the government should be armed and dangerous.

noted sir! I just can't get past the sights. In a tense situation, I fear that front sight is going to catch on something and be damaged. The ability to mount an optic can be done, but you have to get an add on "flip" mount to make it work. I agree that a long arm is better, you get 4-5 points of contact with it. I just do not trust that thing and think it is not as well thought out as the S&W M&P fpc. Time will tell and it is just the opine of a normal blue collar man that has been shooting most of his life. Ok a active shooter with a rifle and u with a handgun, ur at a disadvantage? Um 😶 depends, there a shooting at a mall? Then yes, church.... no. School?... maybe, how’s the layout, I’ve seen layout where a handgun will do just fine others a rifle will be best. Now should u pack a rifle everywhere u go? Personally I don’t care, but u wanna carry a backpack for a folding rifle in hopes u can duck behind the potted plants to get ur rifle, when of ur in the place u can just get be hung the plant and shoot at the guy with a Normal handgun.
Now I want this rifle not for the mall shooting or anything but because it’s a long gun that takes the same rounds as a hand gun takes so if u are in a oh shit event u can prioritize ur ammo to one caliber.
Studies show u will have a more likely chance in 85% of America to get attacked by a dog or another animal then getting into a shooting match. But terrorist! U say? Well sure u can get this or bring one of those mods for glocks to turn them into short rifles, this rifle is great for recon, hunting, or truck/motorcycle gun.

The difference is range capability and shoot-ability. It's easier for most people to shoot a shoulder fired weapon more accurately when the target is farther away and/or moving. The longer carbine length barrel also improves ballistic performance. That said, if you feel safe with a pistol, then carry a pistol.

C T aim for his head also you can put 33rnds in this gun in a smaller clip than a regular AR-15 magazine. So your getting a smaller clip and 3 more shots . This gun is very accurate has less kick than a .556 and has less penetration power so less chance of hitting a civilian

This way I can use the 12 mag for the 9C in concealment and the 17rd'ers as back-up to both platforms. Then again ... 30+ rd mags work well for both also. As stated by other respondents .... my Kel-Tec has been SPOT-on right out of the box with the std sights. As for issues of customer service .... Kel-Tec was the one that told me about the "barrel" issue. At no cost to me they took care of replacing the barrel. AND ... when it came back ... with the 1st (5) rd's fired ... it was DEAD-on. I would have thought there would be some front sight adjustment needed, but nada. As others ... I'm looking forward to Part 2, but I think I know what the outcome will be.
