I have the Sub 2000 Gen 2 in the Glock 17 setup and couldn't be happier. It pairs perfectly with my Glock 17 MOS. I have a total of about 1,000 rounds through mine in the last year and have had ZERO issues whatsoever with the sight or ammo feeding or extraction. Just make sure you lube the gun because the Sub 2000 and really all carbines run better well lubed. Also I only run factory brass ammo (CCI Blazer Brass, American Eagle and Fiocchi).
Great review. I just bought a Gen 2 and unfortunately had some problems and had to send it back to Kel-tec. The only thing I slightly disagree with is extra expansion of hollow points is ok but you still need penetration to reach vital organs. It would be interesting to see how different bullets perform in ballistic gel from the Sub 2k.
great review bro. my buddy has a gen 1 pimped out in red lion upgrades and it's a blast to shoot. we tested his 40 Cal version on some level 2 soft body armor and I was surprised it penetrated it with ease. that test made me a believer in PCCs. I am buying the gen 2 for sure this year.
Yeah, this issue of whether a pcc, this one in particular, can be lethal at ranges beyond my Glock, are what I'm really interested in. I don't care about nitrite finishes until I've gotten past the big argument he brings up at the beginning. Thanks for your comment, btw.
You were very thorough with your review. Thank you for the information. Went to go check out my new Navy Blue Sub2K9 a few days ago. This video take built up my excitement. This video is very detailed. Thank you.
First thing I did on my Gen 2 was order that larger metal sights, and the pistol foregrip, put a heavy tac light on the front and a laser on the bottom rail to give it alittle more weight in the front. May get the upgraded trigger and polished steel guide ramp. Got the OD green one with my OD green G17 it’s a bad little package with the 33rd “freedom sticks”! 👍🏻😁
9 mm is cheaper and hits the steel hard. 40 would be good if you need it for police work to stop a drugged up crazy killer. I would say the 40 turns into a 10mm being shot out of a 2000.
Kept getting black and blue on my cheek until I upgraded to a higher rear sight post, and added a different charging handle, and recoil dampening washer ... all from MCarbo. Now, it's a great shooter and always goes into my 'go bag'.
I just bought one of these. I had a Hi-point 995TS, and I have played with the Berretta PX4 but the Kel-Tec is very appealing. It folds up, its light, it shoots 9mm, it's just cool.
nothing wrong with a good PCC. I have an UZI myself. Kel-Tec's are very hard to find in Europe and when found the Prices are.... well make an educated guess ;). would love to have one in 9mm. most used caliber in Europe. Happy New Year !!
Than you for an excellent review! 👍 I have been thinking of buying this rifle. I keep hearing that's it's better to go with the the model that uses the G19 mags over the G17. I do wish it came with a sling like the Hi Point does. Those little extra items do make a difference and make the product competitive.
G19 is the way to go. It gives you the ability to utilize all the mags. For the people that say the grip is too small, aren't they using 17 round mags and bigger anyway? Well, when you add the magazine to the S2K G19 version the grip is long enough for anyone. Uper fun to shoot and they fit in just about any backpack. Great video, well done.
The easiest and most effective way for people with large hands to mitigate the small grip feel of the Sub-2000 G19 version is simple use a G19 magazine with a +2 extended magazine base plate.
This gun pumps out some serious energy in the .40S&W round with the added velocity of the barrel. In Canada our barrels are 18.5” so that’s even more so.
Outstanding review. Just watched it. Very thorough. I have a CX4 Storm 9mm, but am thinking of adding the Sub2000 Gen 2 to the mix. Perfect for a motorcycle gun.
I'm getting this because in Canada handguns are highly restricted and dumb to own legally. I like this because it can use 10 rounds which for rifles is capped at 5 here.
Excellent comparison, thanks. One thing you overlooked is the Gen2 uses more functional allen-head screws throughout instead of the more strip-able phillips-head screws of the Gen1. Other than that I think you covered pretty much everything!
Great video man!👍 I just bought the sub 2k gen 2 9mm,4-33 rd mags I also put a red dot and a magnifier on it that flip to the side so it still folds.with that scope this gun will reach out and touch something. Was hitting paper at 90 yards in a 3 inch group.
What brand red dot and magnifier did you go with if you don’t mind me asking Chris!! Picking mines up Friday and I would be interested in both sir! Thanks
@@I_be_e vortex is the brand I don’t know the model # of hand. Both together were right around $400.00 I use eotech’s on my ar’s. I try to buy pretty good scopes and red dots because without them being reliable you may not be hitting something that you really need to hit.
Quite simply the best thing since sliced bread. This comes from over 1000 rounds fired. Flawless performance. Oh, I've never done it myself cus that would be illegal, but I understand that if you screw a Chevy oil filter on it it's stupid quiet.
Your PCC video a while back was what drew me to your channel. I haven't changed my mind one iota where PPC firearms are concerned. To this day I have a PCC for every pistol I own. The only thing that might be considered a departure from that is the Marlin lever action in .44 mag to go with my Redhawk and Blackhawk in the same chambering. I even have a 16" PPSh43 to go with my Yugo M57 Tokarev. The only thing left on the wish list is a MECHTECH carbine and Tanfoglio Hunter in 10mm. I have recently become enamored with the power capabilities of the 10mm cartridge. If I have to, I guess I would settle with a Glock 40. I noticed in your videos, that you had a 10mm period; do you still have that going on? I agree with each and every point you've made here; I might add Urban Combat which has pretty much the same criteria as Home Defense. So, the next order of business is to go check out NutnFancy's video on the Sub2K.2 (which has a non-flattering title) and see what that is all about. Great video and review!
+DocLarsen44 I love the 10mm....just haven't found a carbine for one yet. The MechTech looks interesting....might have to check that one out. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend!
PCC's are great because they are more accurate then regular pistols, and give rounds more velocity. Buddy of mine has a ruger PC Carbine, that thing is a laser with a red dot, can't miss with it. I can't say the same with a handgun.
Great video on this gun! I have had the gen 2 .40 s-w/glock mag on order for several months now and been piling up ammo! Nice job covering all the details and comparisons. I saw a go-pro and another camera in the vid but was wondering what it was? Keep em coming!
Just got mine yesterday. The plastic cap is cheap af. Mcarbo has a buffertube cover that snugs up against it and keeps it from coming off if that bothers yiu as much as it does me.
I carry a G23 and bought the G22 S2K because of the longer grip. I'm not concerned about not being able to use G23 mags because I can just run G22 mags in my G23.
Awesome man! But bc 9mm is not a rifle cartage not munch advantage in power after 12" other than rifle classification vs pistol. So I with Kel-Tech made this in a 12" to 9" .
I own the Ruger and a gen 1 Keltec.cons for the keltec-fragle rear sight,no last round hold open, and 40 cal chokes on hollowpoints.Con for the Ruger-its way too muzzle heavy.
KelTec Design Meeting. "Ok guys, number one priority, we must the maximum amount of plastic possible without it being called an airsoft gun". No kidding. 357 sig??? If you could convert a Glock 23 to a Glock 32?? Would it not be possible to modify this gun .40 caliber to a 357 sig. with the correct barrel???? Am I wrong in assuming that a 357 sig. is essentially a 9 mm projectile and a 40 caliber casing? Anyone give me your feedback
I sold my KelTec Sub2K because it had S&W mags that were very unreliable. Plus it was too hard to find a good deal on a S&W Model 5900 and new mags. If I ever get a Glock I might buy a Sub2K gen 2 to pair with it.
I think it's "pol-y-mer...not Palmer. Small thing only an old English teacher would notice. But you're videos are solid. And I'm very "pro" on the Sub 200 gen 2. Perfect camp, truck and cabin gun. Especially since I too carry a Glock 19. Keep up the good videos.
I've heard reports that red dots and scopes won't hold zero because of the fore end design. I think Nutnfancy gave it a low rating because of that factor. Have you tried it with a scope or RDS?
It definitely looks worth the price this time around. It wasn't impressed with the Gen 1, it felt cheap, it wasn't very ergonomic, and the mag release sat by my trigger finger (I'm a lefty). I ended up with a 995TS instead, not as cool, but it worked much better for me. If I was in the market for another PCC, I'd double stamp a Scorpion Evo.
+DocTacDad They are coming out with one. Its now on their website. And as the Sub2000 gen2 is so hard to get (stupid KelTec super low production #) I might go the way of the EVO carbine, even for the $1000 MSRP. cz-usa.com/product/cz-scorpion-evo-3-s1-carbine/
+Spinnaker Cool...I know that Kel-Tec has up their production by almost triple on the S2K, but it still difficult to find. I'm almost positive I'll be getting one of those EVOs...
+DocTacDad I understand that Kel-Tec has increased production, but not enough to meet the demand. I have been waiting for my Sub2k G2 since July 2015 (6 month now), and get the same answer from the rep. "hard to get". Kel-Tec has one of the best R&D, but production stinks. For as long as they have produced the G1, production has never meet the demand. There is something really wrong with that business model.
The 9mm becomes a different animal when fired through the 16" barrel. It is quieter and very much harder hitting. The front sight is terrible and for a ironsighter like me,it is a problem.
I have two, one for me and my wife for about two years now with over 1.5K rounds each flawlessly. Never had any magazine fall out on its own until I hit the magazine's release. I'm a former Green Beret Senior Advanced Weapons Sergeant and retired Detroit cop, and can't recommend this firearm enough. Hope this helps. God bless, have fun and stay safe and healthy!😁
9mm can kill a deer, but I would never use it unless it was my only option, andt hen only if the range is close and I have some good controled expansion ammo.
+mynewsong That is the question...They can be notoriously hard to find...Kel-Tec has increased their production volume of this rifle and they should be easier to come by. Keep and eye on your local shops...
The more I learn about this carbine, the more I want one. Thanks for the review.

+DocTacDad you aren't kidding, I just got a ps90, which is basically a pistol caliber carbine. It is way too much fun. That ammo goes fast!
Would be awesome in 45acp. Would buy one tomorrow if they made it.
hopefully I can get a response, but what kind of animals you think you can take down with this deer elk ?
Mark Amsberg if 22lr can take a deer 9 mm can too
9mm can kill a deer, but I would never use it unless it was my only option, andt hen only if the range is close and I have some good controled expansion ammo.
Maybe...maybe a white tail at close range. But do yourself a favor and get a 357 lever action. Fun plinking and a better brush gun.
Penetration for organs?
That's only 1" or less usually!
Hollow points are fine!
I dont know if I should get the Sub2000 or the Extar EP9. They are about the same price
The extar is probably better but man it's so hard to find it in stock
Extar
GREAT REVIEW. THANKS SO MUCH. WHERE CAN I BUY A SUP 2000 NOW, SOMEBODY LET ME KNOW. THANKS
+mynewsong That is the question...They can be notoriously hard to find...Kel-Tec has increased their production volume of this rifle and they should be easier to come by. Keep and eye on your local shops...
