I've watched at least 10 Sub2000 Gen3 reviews, believe or not yours is the first and only one that shows the close up of the folding mechanism and how the handguard rotates independent from the barrel and the locking lug, instant thumbs up!
I got my G3 a week ago. Finally got it to the range, i was waiting on my fixed barrel spacer to show up. Only put about a 100 rounds of mixed 9mm thru it. Had about 4-5 jams, should be fine after more break-in. Very accurate with a red dot at 25-50yds, 1"-2.5" groups. Very happy with my first Kel-Tec...
@jarvismorrison9328 Same thing happened with my Gen 3. First time at the range had numerous FTF with the first 50 rounds. After about 200 rounds thru it, it runs like a sewing machine. Very happy with it now..

The 2024 Gen 3 explains the $100 rebate for the Gen 2. Just bought one for $250 (and I expect to spend the savings at MCARBO to upgrade it to my liking!).
@@boss94ways51 Ive found that the 9+# trigger isn’t as terrible as I expected so holding off on the $240 package. Just replacing the charging handle, installing a recoil buffer and adding a stock pad (MO Tactical) and will see how it goes.
I wonder if Kel-tec will continue to produce some of the Gen 2's for those that don't want the bulk of an optic and don't want the extra expense and effort of buying/adjusting our own iron sights? The Gen 3 is great for those that want an optic, but this completely defeats my interest in a Sub 2000 as a FLAT super compact (ready to go) & quick to deploy firearm (no twisting). I might have to snag myself one of the old ones before they are all gone.
I don't know, but I do know the are offering real good rebates on the Gen 2 at the moment. I get you on the purpose of a folding carbine, real small and out the way till you need it.
I will be buying this by summer with that new Canik tti combat. The only two guns I seen coming out in 2024 that are worth buying and not going to break the bank doing so. 👍
Are all the internal components the same other than just a different trigger? Any chance you could do a video going over the internals and taking it apart with the new rear ring they have holding it together?
I don't know, I did not have it apart. I can only comment on what I can see from the outside. The feed ramp is plastic, the trigger is aluminum. It's a loaner gun so I cannot take it apart, maybe in the future if one comes in for an internal upgrade I'll do a video on it. The new ring will come off by lifting the end out the groove and then rolling the rest out the groove. Just like you roll a V-belt on or off a pulley.
Just got my Gen3 and I love the silly thing !! SHhoots very well and at 25 yards it's very accurate. I mounted a Holosun on it with a 3X magnifier and Going to see if it's suitable out to 100 yards (I hope) lol.
@@merlinambrosius2554 you can shoot a pistol just as accurate but you cant mag dump a pistol at 50 100 yards and have a one foot grouping nor the speed and velocity for greater distances
IMHO I completely disagree. The FPC is heavier, clunkier and more expensive. The bolt catch/release is useless at best and a grand thumb machine if you try to use it from the right side. The trigger is no better than the gen 3 trigger. Sage to say I'm not a fan of the S&W at all.
A big advantage of the sub 2000 is the flat-when-folded form factor. Slips into and out of a daypack laptop sleeve much more easily than the S&W. That’s pretty much their reason for existing.
Agreed. And on top of all that, the FPC has that janky thick buttstock that is non-adjustable for LOP. On any rifle, that alone is a deal breaker for me..@@thomashoffman5745
@@ruiz212 Nothing, it will rotate 180 degrees, but it won't fold as the "belly" of the front stock is not straight, preventing it from lying flush with the top of the receiver.
If they somehow managed to make minor changes like making it a non reciprocating charging knob and maybe a button bolt release I’d definitely buy one that’s for sure!
Does it still have plastic feed ramps like my Gen. 1 n 2 subs ?? both of my Gen.'s screws get loose... I picked up the S&W carbine n really like it way better than my Subs.. be well.
It’s cool and all but I think gen2 is better. Keep it simple just run the factory sights and let it fold. If you wanna run an optic get a better quality pcc.
once Keltec redesigned the barrel to allow permanent mount of optic, why didn't they redesign the lousy trigger? The new S&W is superior in every aspect, why would anyone buy the Keltec?
Because it's a lot lighter and more compact. Would easily fit into a zip pocket on a backpack or small suitcase or a vehicle's behind-the-seat map pouch. The S&W is "nicer" for sure but quite a chunk.

Thanks for the video. It’s nice seeing it compared to the Gen 2
I own a gen 2 in 40 caliber, it is the most accurate budget pistol carbine I've ever fired out pass an 100 yards.
Same!!! Scary accurate !!
The twisting barrel is definitely a game changer and still 200 less than the S&W. Pretty easy choice for me
The only thing about the twist is now it’s more fragile.

It will definitely work, sight radius will be about 1,5" shorter than the gen 2.

I just bought the G3 at Kentucky gun company Saturday 9/14/24, on sale for 359.00,
The S&W FPC has really pushed the Kel-Tec price down.
