I think another reason mobile gaming isn’t as popular is that for a lot of games, touchscreen controls are not the best.

Exactly the reason I don't like gaming on a mobile device. Some games like Plants vs Zombies are good with touch controls but something like an FPS, or just something with an in screen joystick is very awkward. You can't feel the edge on the button or joystick so you can't anticipate whether or not your about to slip off the control.

A lot of mobile gaming is the sort of app store candy crush type stuff, there are people who like to play that just as a distraction, fair play to them, pardon the pun. The thought of trying to play an actual game on the phone strikes me as a fools errand. However, again, people like what they like.

Lacking tactile feedback, but I also hate how they hold pc games back.
A good example is naraka. They had to cut physics and add censorship and unoptimize graphics to cater to mobile market.
At the same time, rarely, a good mobile game will get creative due to it's limitations and innovate on making simple controls fun. A sort of "kirbys air ride" of sorts. Honorable mentions being wuthering waves(the better genshin) and punishing gray raven, Kuro games in general.
I also hate how they think "lol im a gamer now! See? I'm a nerd." but play free to play games on their government paid phone. Tourists.

I only ever played HI3 religiously for the past 5 years on mobile. I really liked the story and the combat mechanics as it resembles NieR Automata a lot. I played Azur Lane for a good year or so as well, and also PGR.
The sad reality is that more than 90% of native mobile games are gacha focused. While it is true that devs need to make money for the time and effort they spent on the game, I think it is still best to just make games that are sold only once like ports (XCOM, Oddworld, Republique, Ocean Horn, and Dead Cells). The problem with gacha games is that they get repetitive when you get to a certain point, especially if you're all caught up with the content and are just waiting for the story update, which is even exaggerated by the auto-everything functionality. This is why games like HI3, Genshin Impact, PGR, and ToF, and a bunch of first person shooters and MOBAs are occupying the top spots of mobile gaming. While they are repetitive, your choices in-game still make sense.

Yeah definitely more than 90% sadly 😔 I tried giving FF7 Ever Crisis a go, but it was too money grabey. Hopefully one day it changes!

you're in a bubble. cod mobile has like 5 times as many players as all other platforms combined. unfortunately, mobile game dominates nowadays.

Oh it’s HUGE. No question. I’m just saying most console gamers (like myself) will probably never be able to get into it for the reasons listed later in this video

You talking about active players or just installation/download count?
Downloads and installs, sure. Active players, I think another game has that spot.
Another explanation is that PC/Console players play these mobile games during toilet time or while their devices are updating.

Tbh the thumbnail sends the wrong message from my experience.
What Capcom did with Re8/Remake4 was MARVELOUS!
The issue with mobile games is the 9999999 GACHA F2P games!
If they bring games like Ghost of Tsushima, Devil May Cry and Dark Souls to the iPhone. I will be buying them despite the fact I already own them.
Because mobile games started “amazing” with multiple “pay once and get a good experience” like Plants VS Zombies 1.
But because mostly kids with no money were users, Free to Play saw the most players… and eventually those kids learned to “buy microtransactions by mistake”.

In an extremely competitive YT space thumbnails just need to get people to click on the video, and hopefully the video is good enough to stay! I mention near the beginning that RE8 actually looks great on mobile, and later talk about how Gacha tactics ruined it. I agree the good ol’ days of PVZ were great. If you like Souls games, Pascals Wager was a pretty cool mobile exclusive I enjoyed the first bit of. Probably would have played it the whole way through if it was on console…

Mobile games are generally speaking, lifeless hyper-monetized cash grabs designed solely for the purpose to get kids to spend they're parents money. Not every single one is like that, but at least 90% of any app-store are these lifeless copies of something more popular with a slightly different thumbnail. And of course jam packed with so many ads the game cat even function as a game just a vessel for monetization. If there were more real, good, quality games on my phone i might consider playing but that is simply not the case, especially when i've been on PC for 10+ Years

100% nailed it. A vast majority is just cashgrab garbage sadly
