Thanks again for sharing another quilt! I am always looking for quick ans somewhat easy patterns to make for Charity Quilts and this is perfect!! I love all your videos!!
A great pattern. And thank you Amanda for the tip on not sewing all the strips together in one direction. I did that and my strip set had a definite curve. Lots of unpicking, ugh! My Tip: I like to cut my jelly roll strips in half before sewing them into strip sets in order to create more varied strip set blocks.
This looks like a great beginner quilt, thank you! You include backing material in your list but don't cover in your ritual how to finish. Will that be a different video?
Hi Karen, I haven’t covered piecing a backing and finishing a quilt yet in my videos, but that’s a great idea! In the meantime, if you need help, I bet you could google finishing a quilt and probably find some great info.
Hi Amanda! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talent! I like the quilt on the right and the Jelly Roll that you used. Cute t-shirt and the wall hanging!
I just finished sewing my strips together, and they look great. When I went to cut the 10.5" blocks out, I ended up with a 9.5" last block. What should I do, and what did I do wrong?
Just a quick comment on sewing the strips in opposite directions… If you sew three or four strips together and they curl up in one direction that is usually because your tension is too tight on either your top thread or your bobbin thread. If your tension is correct then your strips will not curl up in one direction and they should lay straight. Consider checking your tension if that happens because, depending on the pattern or fabric, sometimes you can’t always decide to sew in the opposite direction.
I think that might work if you sew a strip onto each side of your strip sets, especially since you are rotating the direction of the blocks within the rows. Great idea!
Yes, you could piece together coordinating jelly roll strips for the sashing and border - I would just caution that if it is a print jelly roll (not solid or solid like fabric) it wouldn't give the same feeling and a spot for your eyes to "rest". Hope that makes sense!
Beautiful
Absolutely love the colour choices

If they are consistently 9.5", just cut them all the same and it will work out.
Thanks!!!
You’re welcome!

Could you add a strip of your background fabric onto the ends of each strip set? Then when cut, it’s already sashed (14.5” blocks)?
I think that might work if you sew a strip onto each side of your strip sets, especially since you are rotating the direction of the blocks within the rows. Great idea!
This looks like a great quilt for a beginner such as myself 🙂 Could I use a coordinating jelly roll for the sashing and border? Karen D

@@MaterialGirlQuilts total sense, thank you!
Very easy, all I need is how much yardage for the sashing strips in total
It’s included on the downloadable pattern and you’ll need 2 1/2 yards 😊
Can you make this without the sashing and just connect the squares?
Yes, you absolutely could do that!
What is the name of the jelly roll used?
It is Cotton Beach by Tilda fabrics…so pretty!!
