This is a really nice quilt and Tammy is a great instructor. My most memorable Tammy video is the Christmas Tree Napkin that she showed us. I’ve made so many of them and found them to be great fun. Thank you, Tammy, for that pattern.
Beautiful quilt and now that I see how easy it is I really want to try it! I find that taking a picture of the quilt layout , before sewing blocks together, really helps me see things I don't with my eyes.
My first time watching your video. I am on the verge of making my first quilt after I watch a few more of your videos for my own confidence. I learned so much watching this video. I love how you lightly ironed the square in half to insure a perfect on point lineup.
That is great to hear! You will have a lot of fun and we believe in you! Happy that you love this quilt and enjoyed the tutorial! Thanks for your comment! - Abby
I hope that you have undertaken a quilt! I might suggest that an on-point quilt NOT be your first quilt. I think that a simple baby quilt is the best way to get started. Why? It is small; it requires you do do all of the "stuff" (cutting, sewing, basting, quilting, cursing and crying) associated with your first quilt on a smaller scale. You only learn from seat time and watching great instructors like Tammy. (I learned through RUclips! No quilters in my family or offline life).
Beautiful quilt and lovely colors. I just love Tammy’s tutorials they are so comprehensive and easy to follow. I bet this would look great scrappy too!
I have lovingly named my husband Jack the Ripper because he doesn't mind doing this for me if I need to rip large projects. I use vintage fabric and sometimes will buy an ugly quilt top just for the fabric. He patiently separates all the pieces! Oh, and he calls my long arm clients "Ladies of the Cloth"!
Lovely quilt! I plan to make in red, white and blue fabrics for my step-son as those are his favorite colors. I downloaded the pattern and am looking forward to making it. Thank you so much for your video instructions; they are always so very helpful!
A really beautiful quilt, I like the fabrics some years back I made two equal quilts with colors like this. But what I really love is the blade saver, I have it and it's always in use, great tool. Greetings from Germany ❤
Love beautiful easy quilts. I have French General fabrics that this pattern will be great with. Thank-you so much for the free pattern. Can’t wait to get started

Oh this is pretty and I like the simplicity of the block creating such a nice pattern. I think I'll make this quilt using Heirloom Red by My Mind's Eye collection since I love red and white quilts. I think it would be darling. Thank you for sharing.
Tammy, this is a wonderful and easy pattern to try! Thank you for the demo. The fabric line is gorgeous! I might look for a Layer Cake in my stash and see what will work.
What a beautiful quilt--and expertly demonstrated! Wendy Sheppard designed the pattern and Julie Hendricksen is the fabric designer for Elliot line for Windham. (They have such beautiful fabric lines). So many great patterns available for free at all of the fabric mftr websites. I prefer these simple quilts where the geometry of the design both showcases the fabric but allows the eye and mind a break! I have some fat quarter bundles that this might be the perfect way to get a quilt done. Thanks for this priceless inspiration.
I am looking for different ideas for making baby or crib quilt for charity. I have made my far shear of big quilt I want to try some of the quilt block patterns that I have this looks like a good one to incorporate into a smaller quilt. This is the first of your videos that I have watched, but I will be watching more! I liked how you explain what you are doing and why you do it that way. Thank you! I think I would like to make this with bigger blocks.
That is awesome! Happy that you have found us and glad that our tutorials can help you! You can make your blocks bigger if you prefer. Thanks for your support and comment! - Abby
I'll have to figure out how to cut a 10" square to make this. Such a sweet pattern; I have a layer cake I'd like to use that has some large prints and wouldn't want to cut them that small.
I cut the sizes I needed into pattern pieces with printer paper to set them on the 10" layer cake and was able to get 4 sets from each. The first one I tried cutting the 10" down into 4 squares to cut like the charm size and I was short on one side.
To double the block size cut these pieces: From the print fabric- one 4.5" square, one strip 2.5" by 6.5", one strip 2.5" by 8.5". From the neutral fabric- cut one strip 2.5" by 4.5" and one strip 2.5" by 6.5". This block finishes at 8" square. Hope this helps! I did a test block today using some Christmas prints with larger motifs. The original measurements would have made blocks too small for the larger prints.
Sigh…. I have a real problem at looking at fabrics and dismissing them when they don’t catch my eye or buying fabrics that I love, but wouldn’t find comfort in, only fun. This video is a perfect example. The colors/shades aren’t my cup of tea, but when they are put together, they create a completely comfy palette that I find cozy and want to bury myself in. I have no idea how to stop this. My eyes’ preference create fun quilts, but not much in the way of a nice, warm burrito’s embrace. To amplify the problem, even if I bought fabrics that are ho-hum to me but know they’ll make a comforting quilt, I wouldn’t find the motivation to do anything with them. Frustrating.
This is not at all how I thought this was going to go together, but I like it. When I first clicked on the link, I thought there would be a big square with two borders sewn all the way around and then use the ruler t9 cut the whole thing in four.
