    Dealership wanted to charge me $280 to replace a stud and a lug nut. Did it myself for $7 screw them 😂

      @@DiaperSNiFFER I watched this one guy and his daughter doing it. Think it was titled so easy a kid can do it. I did end up having to get a torque wrench but it was worth it in the end. Still way cheaper than dealership and now I have a tool for the future 👍

      some cars its easier to just do a hub bc you have to take it off for clearance a kia optima is one

      @@Justinlifts365 I already have all four bearing hubs for a long time new C just broke studs but rest are striped , should I just have the mechanic change all 4 hubs since I don’t have my tools right now , how much it’s a fair price ?

    Good video. But as a reminder, this only works for some cars.
    Unfortunately, some car makers design the car so that if a stud needs replacing, you have to remove the entire rotor hub and wheel bearing just to replace it.

    Yes and MAKE SURE you put a spacer between the nut and the front of the stud or good luck taking the nut back off

    Dude at my local tire shop completely rounded of 2 lug nuts on 2 separate tires when I came in to get tires replaced. Then told me he had no idea what I could do or who could help me. Thanks bro

      Don't get tires from those cheap places it's not worth it. Use A big business tire shop with a warranty.

    Some cars require you to remove the hub, which means new wheel bearing.

    Yep, this will commence this weekend. Just did the water pump in the wifes car and noticed she had a stripped stud. The bolt would not go on (sexy!)

    There's not always enough room behind the hub to do it that way, be careful and check before you knock out the old one to make sure you don't get stuck!

    Please don’t use an impact. I know you can, I know a lot of you do. But the chances of that shit spinning and stripping the whole hub is still there and not 0😭.

    The reason they break is because when they install them they do it with impacts and it creates alot of heat due to the lugnuts not letting air out. Also over tightening.

    Try doing that on a expedition, u have to remove the rear differential it’s probably one of the most smelly jobs you can do on a car lol

    You started eorking on a lug nut on an axle eith disc brajes, laterhit magically turns into shoe type brakes. Why, did you run out of replacement brake studs?

    Depends on the car. Most are goin to be easy like this. Some are not going to be easy. Some have really small space between the knuckle and the hub. You might have to pull the whole knuckle and use a hyd. press to press the whole hub out before being able to replace the studs.

    The stud installer tool (I used the one by Lisle) worked great. Just some light machine oil on the stud and lug nut and a 24” long breaker bar was all it took to pull the new stud into place. No impact wrench needed. And that means I didn’t damage the lug nut that I’d used to pull the new stud into place.

    Why the spacer?

      To pull the stud inwards. The spacer makes it bring the stud towards it, without the spacer, the nut would just tighten and not pull the stud closer.

      Wheelcstuds are easily available but the hub is very close to the stub axle housing. If you look closely at the stub axle there isca notch cut out where you put the head of the new stud and turn hib to align hole and it emwill just fit.
