@@DiaperSNiFFER I watched this one guy and his daughter doing it. Think it was titled so easy a kid can do it. I did end up having to get a torque wrench but it was worth it in the end. Still way cheaper than dealership and now I have a tool for the future 👍

Man you not only showed how to fix it but what you did most importantly is calm my stressful situation down with your consoling demeanor and built confidence. Thanks 🙏.
Good video. But as a reminder, this only works for some cars. Unfortunately, some car makers design the car so that if a stud needs replacing, you have to remove the entire rotor hub and wheel bearing just to replace it.
Dude at my local tire shop completely rounded of 2 lug nuts on 2 separate tires when I came in to get tires replaced. Then told me he had no idea what I could do or who could help me. Thanks bro
Dude I’ve watched two of these shorts today they’re perfect and given me exactly what I need started with the brakes watched your video then I had to come to this haha thanks bro
There's not always enough room behind the hub to do it that way, be careful and check before you knock out the old one to make sure you don't get stuck!
Please don’t use an impact. I know you can, I know a lot of you do. But the chances of that shit spinning and stripping the whole hub is still there and not 0😭.
The reason they break is because when they install them they do it with impacts and it creates alot of heat due to the lugnuts not letting air out. Also over tightening.
You started eorking on a lug nut on an axle eith disc brajes, laterhit magically turns into shoe type brakes. Why, did you run out of replacement brake studs?
Depends on the car. Most are goin to be easy like this. Some are not going to be easy. Some have really small space between the knuckle and the hub. You might have to pull the whole knuckle and use a hyd. press to press the whole hub out before being able to replace the studs.
Yo I Iove you for this real shit I thought I had to replace it I was panicking today because about 3 hours ago I was driving with only two nuts in my wheel. My girls had a flat when the girl fixed it she broke two of my nuts off.
The stud installer tool (I used the one by Lisle) worked great. Just some light machine oil on the stud and lug nut and a 24” long breaker bar was all it took to pull the new stud into place. No impact wrench needed. And that means I didn’t damage the lug nut that I’d used to pull the new stud into place.
I came from google and it mentioned “never hammer it off, it’s the WORST thing you could do!”..and it’s the first thing he does 🤣 seems like the quickest and cheapest way to me, thank you!
This is gonna be so helpful! I am currently fixing my first car (Pontiac G3 2010) My dad is helping me but accidentally broke one of these nuts on the rare wheel hub as we were changing the brake drums. This is gonna be so helpful
Bro you saved me. I just pray I can find the right parts for a mx5 nb, the bolts are too rusty for my own piece of mind. One broke right off when I tried to remove one of the front wheels 😨.
Wheelcstuds are easily available but the hub is very close to the stub axle housing. If you look closely at the stub axle there isca notch cut out where you put the head of the new stud and turn hib to align hole and it emwill just fit.
Dealership wanted to charge me $280 to replace a stud and a lug nut. Did it myself for $7 screw them 😂
Nowadays 95% of mechanics take advantage of people. One should Better learn how to work on oneself's car.
Me right now lol 3 dollars for a new one 😊
schoolpinprofit there is a Better video Scotty Kilmer has on his RUclips channel. “How to replace a broken stud”

naw they just HARD asf to get out older vehicles without breaking all of them ;)
some cars its easier to just do a hub bc you have to take it off for clearance a kia optima is one
Me too

I mean its a pretty common thing to say for car guys
Wait till he finds out it’s short for “persuader”

Can confirm first thing I’ve broken
Logs mostly break because people use impact guns on them.
Good video. But as a reminder, this only works for some cars.

Yes and MAKE SURE you put a spacer between the nut and the front of the stud or good luck taking the nut back off

Don't get tires from those cheap places it's not worth it. Use A big business tire shop with a warranty.

This video saved me SO MUCH MONEY. 600$ brake job I did myself for 215$ and I stripped a stud so this video helped me fix it 😂😂😂 thank you brother
Always use a torque wrench
Some cars require you to remove the hub, which means new wheel bearing.
What kinda brakes are those disc on the outside drum on the inside!?
Yep, this will commence this weekend. Just did the water pump in the wifes car and noticed she had a stripped stud. The bolt would not go on (sexy!)

I replaced the whole wheel spacer 😂😂
yeah, good one.... let's not actually show anyone the steps to remove the important stuff like the brake caluper. no help at all!
Never broke a stud in my life. 27 years of working on cars... its called do it right
The reason they break is because when they install them they do it with impacts and it creates alot of heat due to the lugnuts not letting air out. Also over tightening.
Its much harder on front with front wheel drive.
Try doing that on a expedition, u have to remove the rear differential it’s probably one of the most smelly jobs you can do on a car lol
Was wondering if you had any tips on getting it in through the back cause the space was a little tight between the hub and the drum brake
Sir what if 2 nuts are broken like this but opposite 2 are fixed at there places on front right wheel is it risky to drive?
NOT IN 70 years MY FRIEND.
All good till you have to remove the bearing to remove and install the stud 😢
Mistake number 1 you're not using the jack stand
This doesn’t work for a Kia cause the the whole set up is different
Listen to this with your eyes closed😭😭
How about a front wheel drive with no clearness to take the stud out .
Hit it with your purse😂
Initially I thought that a purse was some new type of tool 😂
Thanks for this vidio because it happen to me
You wearing a wig?
Never stripped a lug but I have lugged a stripper
Why would any one brake the bolt ? If you torque it to speck .don't use impact
They get old lol. Some of us drive cars that are older than us. Ps im almost 27 so let that sink in on how many times those studs get used lol
Any tips? I have one that is stuck halfway off, i'm guessing it was cross threaded at some point.
It's called a torque wrench
And this applies to all vehicles ??
It was the first thing I broke
did anyone else catch? He said, hit the broken stud with your purse🤔dude🤣😭
Thank u!
It's always on a Subaru

My brother's broke two of my studs, probably from tightening too hard 🤦🏻♀️
Ull get 5 new ones when u replace the rear wheel bearings. Its a subaru ull be doing both of them multiple times.
Yikes, I can't believe you stuck your head/body in a wheel well under a jacked up car. Guillotine.
Nice... Thank You

I broke 3 at once and drove an hour home on just 1 lug nut like a Damm fool😅 Young and dumb AF in a rush to my gf of course 😜
Thank you so much.
So they just push out?
Some vehicles are much easier than others to do this on.
With your purse 😂
Try a honda fit. . .
These things only break when people at the dealerships or shops overtighten them.... That's the only reason it's common.
Should replace them all at once, if one broke the others are soon to follow. Just spend the extra like 10$ and do the whole wheel
Bro just use a magnet then put the lug nut over it and tighten you don’t have too disassemble anything
Ive never in my life. Seen drum style brakes inside a disc rotor. Especially on a soccer mom car like this. What in tarnation.

They give the German engineers a run for their money when it comes to vehicles.
pfft thats like an ant bite the real problem is when that nut starts spinning in place if u get two burn the car and claim the insurance
Haha just did this
Does your car rotors and drums on one wheel
parking brake have shoes, mains are disk
You are a blessing
I never broke it
Life saver lol
i broke one today and i was worried sick that it'll cost an arm and a leg to fix. 😭
Damn thank you
I tried this but couldn’t keep the bolt from spinning. How do u get it started enough to use the nut?
I love you bro
Fuck bro how can I do it if my car is Awd and I can’t spin the wheel to put in the stud ?
Broke my transmission before my wheel studs :(
Why the spacer?
To pull the stud inwards. The spacer makes it bring the stud towards it, without the spacer, the nut would just tighten and not pull the stud closer.
If you torque the lug nuts to the proper specs you’ll never have a wheel stud issue.
Master mechanic at work here...🙄
Your fucking the threads. Well done.
clearance
i really need help what if the stud is cut and you cant get to it with the hammer
Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong but I'd imagine you could just stick another piece of metal between the hammer and stud and tap it out
