After you pull the pin out does it make louder(like we can know the different) or it just slightly louder ? Cuz i do it on my car and i don't notice the different
When you put the car in sport, it opens the exhaust. All i'm doing is removing the Fuse to keep it like that. Put it in sport mode, drive around, pull the pin while the car is on, then it'll stay open all the time.
Stock exhaust except for opening up the valve. That’s all. The earlier years for the G01 X3 M40i had a more growl and mean sounding exhaust note compared to the newer ones when they switched to the mild hybrid engine setup.
Technically no, but I prefer pulling the fuse because the dealer can easily flash back to stock whereas the dealer wont put the fuse in. They'll just assume you've done exhaust modifications.
@fastlanegarage5426 someone has told me that there are no visible errors, but power loss at higher rpm due to Ecu thinking the valve is not operating, so assume it is closed. Higher pressure after turbo -> power reduction to prevent damage. If you read fault codes you can see no visible errors, but power loss at higher rpm due to Ecu thinking the valve is not operating, so I assume it is closed. Higher pressure after turbo -> power reduction to prevent damage. If you read fault codes there will be no errors on the iDrive screen etc
I’m sorry man, I know you don’t like stock, but changing the whole look isn’t smart and it’s costly. You will NOT find better headlights for this thing. The ONLY thing you should do is tint the front windows . The wheels on this thing are already awesome so anyone that sees you trade for different wheels is probably gonna think you lost your mind bud 😅. Anyways, it’s your car. Would love to see a video of the changes you make, but the car really doesn’t need much change aside from the tinted windows. That’s it!
Just did this and it does make a difference. They should of done this from stock but they may have their reasons. Thanks for the video
Awesome awesome!
Very smart. Does this work for all model years? I suppose that normal and eco pro is now used for different driving parameter only.
Your exhaust seems louder than my 2019.
Nice information.
I believe the later 2019 models were a bit quieter from the earlier production models. It gets even quieter in 2020+
2019 is quieter as the stock exhaust was fitted with a gas particulate filter for emissions reasons
Thank you both for the feedback.
Good job! Keep a list of all the mods you do. 👍

Does it continue to have the start up rev sound at idle during driving around or does it eventually quiet its self when up to temperature
It will quiet itself once warmed. The start up is always loud even when warm and then give it a couple seconds and it’ll get quieter.
what modifications did you have in the time of this video

How do I know when the valve is open so I can stop driving in sport mode and cut it off to pull fuse out
@@fastlanegaragee it dosent open on the x3 2021 30i model? HELP!
Is this different from setting sport exhaust to always on in bimmercode..

Is this the same for the 2022 m40i please?
Yes

You want to sell your rims? I just bought a 2018 m40i and you have the rims I wanted. Let me know thanks.
Still interested?
I’m pretty sure I own this vehicle now 😮
Well I did get rid of it a couple years ago. Where's you pick it up from?
I just unplugged the valve on my 2018 lol
Where do you unplug it?
There's a fuse to unplug underneath the steering column.
