No, the thief on the cross was not baptized. That’s correct. However this does not verify the claim you don’t have to be baptized.🤦🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️
      1. While Jesus was on earth he had power to forgive sin. Matt 9:6!
So he could just forgive you and you could go to heaven.
      2. The great commission for baptism was not enforced until after the resurrection. Matt 28:19!
So no this does not in any way back up this idea of not being baptized. True belief requires action. If you believe what Jesus says you will do what he says. Our modern day meaning of belief is not what biblical belief is.
John 14: 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
James 1: 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
      DONT DECEIVE YOURSELVES.🤦🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

Having belief in OSAS does not mean a person will not or does not do good works or get baptised. It just means that salvation is not dependant upon those good works or water baptism. I do not see OSAS as a free licence to sin. I now know for certain that I am saved because I believe and trust on Jesus Christ. This has truly set me free! The works I do are all down to the Spirit that resides in me and ALL glory goes to God.
I no longer rely upon my sinful flesh, that constantly lets me down and brings guilt and condemnation. Jesus’ sacrifice has made me righteous in the eyes of God and justified me. A free gift that I received for believing on Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. He is the son of God and His words and promises are enough for me.

No it’s not, actually. It shows a lack of study. The thief on the cross was while Jesus was on earth Jesus had power to forgive sin. Matt 9:6.
The thief on the cross was before the great commission. Matt 28:19.
There is also the question. Was the thief already baptized?
However to me that question is irrelevant due to the two points above.
So ask yourself can any man forbid water???
Acts 10: 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

If the man on the cross next to Christ wasn’t saved by faith alone, then that would mean God is partial, which contradicts James 2. God is not partial. What I mean is, God doesn’t show favoritism, so if the man on the cross next to Christ didn’t need to get baptized or do any of works, then that also applies to every man equally. In the days of Abraham and the under the law of Moses, men were saved by the same Grace as in the days of Christ's Grace according to Romans 4:
"3 For what saith the scripture? ([1]Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness).
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But ([3]to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness)."
And furthermore of David Romans 4 says:
"6Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, ([2]unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works),
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin."
    --------------------------------------
the respective clauses and their ages in their proper chronological order are:
[1]: the days of Abraham before the law of moses
[2]: the precrucifiction age of the law of moses
[3]: the postcrucifiction age of grace
In all 3 ages, according to Romans 4, men were saved by "their faith in God being counted as righteousness)
Why then the petition and propitiation of Christ? To make peace between God and the WHOLE WORLD (not just Jacob) ONCE and for ALL. (1 John 2:2).
Anyone who denies this truth of universal salvation denies the truth of Christ.

@@OnoDiamante Absolutely, today we are saved by the gospel. I agree we have to have faith to be saved, 100%. The following is how I suggest we better understand what that faith looks like.
You say "the *only thing* the thief could do to be saved is the *only thing* we must do to be saved". How we are saved today cannot and should not be compared to the thief. Today we are saved by the gospel. The thief did not hear the gospel and therefore could not obey the gospel. Therefore, his example doesn't apply to us.
To understand how we today are saved by the hearing and obeying of the gospel, wouldn't it be wise to understand the conversions of those who heard and obeyed the gospel? God has seen fit to give us multiple examples. You pulled one verse from one of the later conversions to prove your point.
If what you say is true, then you should be able to prove your point starting with the great commission, (where Jesus sends out the apostles out to proclaim the gospel and make disciples,) and then the conversions that follow.

[14] Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. [15] And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Sir, I find it quite interesting that you would say that a cult is one that teaches "justification by faith alone". There is only one place in the bible from Gen to Rev which uses the term "faith alone" and it is proceeded by the word "not". In that book of James there is an important statement about this idea. James writes about Abraham, an often listed person who was saved before and without lifting a finger. Lets actually read what James says on this matter.
Jas 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works (when) he offered Isaac his son on the altar?
Jas 2:22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?
Jas 2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS ACCOUNTED TO HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS." And he was called the friend of God.
Jas 2:24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
The word "when" is an adj. and it's temporal. It tells us "when" at what point Abraham was considered justified by God. Maybe you have never actually read this verse.
You also simply don't understand what the word "faith" means. Its the Greek word "pistis" and it's a noun. It NEVER means believe. That would be the word pisteuo in the Greek. That is the word correctly translated believe. NOT faith. Most bible translations are from those who are reformers. Men who believe in the Luther doctrine of faith alone. That is a vile concept Luther picked up from some of his friends like Wycliffe and Huss. The bible NEVER teaches the faith alone doctrine.
Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Notice this tells us "when" Abraham did what he did "by faith". It was "when he was called" . What did he DO? He obeyed God's instructions. You must think
he should have said to God, "no way Lord, I don't believe in working my way to heaven" you need to read Luther. Abraham "obeyed by faith". Faith is what God told him to do. Another adj, "when".
You really need to actually read the words written by the inspiration of God and believe them.
    Thanks, Post Hole Digger

out of context and proof texting. he died before the New Covenant took effect. The New Covenant didn't take effect until the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came. That is also when the "church" and "Kingdom" came into being. The Bible describes when someone becomes a Christian is "when the Lord adds them to the church". Anyway, Jesus forgave him personally just like he forgave many when he was alive but that is still under the Old Testament Covenant. A covenant doesn't take effect until the "testator has died" Scripture only please. Examples are "after they are baptized, they are added to the church by the Lord" There is no other examples in the "original Bible KJV " that says grace alone through faith alone. NOWHERE! That is an invention of Martin Luther. Martin Luther’s most notable alteration in his translation of the New Testament into German was the addition of the word “allein” (alone) to Romans 3:28. The original Greek text does not include this word. Luther’s rendering reads, “A man is justified through faith alone, apart from the works of the law” Martin Luther became an enemy of God when he CHANGE the original text. This is where we are today-in the sea of false denominations that the writers of the NT warned was going to happen. Wolves have crept in among you. scripture please! TC

That would make salvation because of us. Therefore, everyone was saved through the death and resurrection of Jesus. He is the Savior of ALL men (1 Tim 4:10, 2 Cor 5:19, 1 John 2:2, John 1:29, Hebrews 1:3...shall I go on?), not just the Savior of those who believe in Him.

Matt 28:19! The thief was forgiven before the great commission.
So no this does not in any way back up this idea of not being baptized. True belief requires action. If you believe what Jesus says you will do what he says. Our modern day meaning of belief is not what biblical belief is.
