- For my first test of the my new Ninja IG651 Foodi Smart XL Pro 7-in-1 Indoor Grill/Griddle Combo I try the best reason to own one of these things, to be able to cook a steak from frozen in a short time. This was an interesting, but successful learning experience.

Really appreciate your demos - device, products and cooking. There are so many options these days (first world problems) and the demos really help.
That device looks really user friendly, which is nice.
So far so good, Beth there's a video coming tomorrow where I cook my pork rind coated chicken wings and I'll keep them coming
@@OldGuyCarnivore - thanks, Mitch! ❤️
@Old Guy Carnivore, I need to thank you for the demonstration as I need whatever is the simplest way to get from frozen to complete with little fuss.
Hope that helped you
Very tempting! I use my old instapot airfryer for all steaks and they turn out fabulous. I wonder how the 7 in 1 would do with bacon? Awesome stuff! I would say you are living a great bachelor life. Cigar, coffee, food, Sams Club, and walking. What could be better than that?
The Kitchen Magician strikes again!!!! Good afternoon everyone, from Copperhill Tn. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hi there, Richard
This is great. I'm always in panic mode when I forget to defrost meat for dinner.
Even though it was a little well done, it was juicy and delicious, I may have to cook this way more often
I use one of those super conductor plates for defrosting steaks and it thaws the meat out quickly.
Hi Mitch, I really enjoy your videos. My husband and I are eating carnivore for the month of July. So far so good. We purchased the new Ninja grill on Amazon and grilled our first NY Strip steaks on it tonight. They were very juicy and flavorful, a real winner! Thank you for your daily videos, they are very motivating.
That's great to hear
No excuse now that everything is frozen and nothing for dinner. Great video
You got that right!
Saving money..frying mine in my pan😊
The smoke alarm stays quiet!
(I am collecting interest on my savings)😊
Thanks Mitch!
You bet!
Thank you, Mitch.
Welcome, Steve
I've got the UK version of this model, seems to be exactly the same, it's fantastic, and I usually have to cook steaks for much shorter time than I expect.
Mitch, I have had many Ninja products and they hold up to what they can do. I had the unit and still do with many uses and it never failed me. I always write down my experiments and when I get it right and do another cook it is perfect each time. Other than Sous Vide this is my 2nd favorite way to cook my steak.
I agree, Roland, thanks
Thank you very very much Mitch!! I love the demonstration so I know if that’s what I want to get tho I have another one!👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🥩💪🥩💪🥩💪
Glad it was helpful, Arlene
On my 3rd air fryer, trying to catch up with you Mitch! 😂 first one is round basket style from QVC. Upon going carnivore last year, got a cuisinart, which was great but the clean up was crazy impossible so my goal with the 3rd was easy cleaning. Got the Big Boss glass air fryer from Amazon, and goal attained!
I use parchment paper it makes cleaning easier… I love ❤️ Ninja products.. I have a Ninja blender, and I just got a Ninja presser cooker that bakes, broiled, crisps, air frys and so much more.. it’s perfect for me because I don’t use my oven and I have no Microwave…
The only problem with parchment paper in an air fryer is it does not allow the air to circulate under the food. They do sell parchment paper that's got holes in it
You probably need to give your old air fryers to charity like Goodwill or Salvation Army so these can enjoy air fryers that are on a budget doing carnivore
I haven't decided what to do with them yet
What in the world would he do that. He just needs to collect a few more and then open up a Air Fryer Museum 🎨🖼️. And make some cash.
@@andredaedone7732 HA!
You should open for auction all your kitchen appliances.
Great video Mitch. You demostrated the Ninja grill, the cutting board plate, and the new knife. You just need to find a fork that will hold on to the meat. 🥩🍴🤣😂
I'm still laughing from that ending
A nice fast cooker!
Sams club chuck roast just increased to 6.28 a pound. I will go to the base next week ( retired Navy) and buy a ton of them for about 4.40 a pound.
Got mine recently and haven’t used it yet! Will tonight! Thanks Mitch!
Have fun!
@@OldGuyCarnivore Thanks! I will 😁
thanks so much, my wife and I was just thinking on buying this ninja machine and was wondering about it, looks like ill be purchasing one
😮that’s looks Amazing ❤
Thank you so much for this demo! My husband and I live in an apartment, and this would be great to have to use and clean over using the Air fryer. Looks to have much more surface space to to cook more items on like burgers and chicken thighs as well.
I bought mine about two months ago. I suggest defrosting your steak a few days before cooking and using the temp probe. Rare comes out beautifully! Thanks for your videos!
Best regards,
George
Tempted to pull the trigger on this one, I bet in griddle mode it would be great to make those carnivore tortillas and wrap/ buns
looks great perfectly done for me thx for the video I might just have to buy a Ninja cheers from Vulcan Canada
Great video. I love wings in the air fryer wouldnt dare make any other way. Been usining a air fryer for 3 years now. Happy 4th of July a day early!
Happy 4th to you too
I just added that knife and plate to my Amazon wish list.
Thanks, Mitch. This is a great idea for when you really didn't know you wanted that steak for supper and it's frozen. Appreciate the demos and product info and pricing on your site.
My pleasure, Kathleen
Thank you! (I wish I could get you some new kitchen curtains.)
Lol... I love the curtains, the old woman who I bought the house from bought them
Thanks!
Best sign of the week:
"America is in trouble. We've lost Hope, Cash and Jobs. Please, God, don't let Kevin Bacon die." 🐱🐱
I love it
Looks great!
Thanks!
I'm waiting for the next version, the Ninja 8 in 1.
Hahaha!
Love it ! thanks Mitch 🥩💕
Glad you like it!
Very nice! and that steak looks juicy and delicious!
It was!
Great video, Mitch! I'm envious of your counter space. I live in a shared housing situation, and am unable to be take advantage of the great deal on this machine.
Sorry to hear that
love this.. I'm gonna buy one
I'm sure you'll like it
Short ribs are actually my favorite now and boiling the bones for amazing broth.
I keep threatening to try them
@@OldGuyCarnivore They are fantastic and I roast them in the oven no more than 30 minutes at 300 or 325 turning over after 15. I also use the Gelatin from oxtails that I cooked in the past. I freeze it in small amounts and add a package of one to my bone broth.. Sam's Clubs short ribs are great 10 bucks a pound though.
I was thinking fork when the steak was scooting away. Lol
Maybe next test you could try using both thermometers. Another review said these cookers tend to run hot
I intend to do that
Good job! 😃
Thanks! 😄
From Frozen? Okay! My next one will be from frozen! Wow Mitch! Also standing the Ninja up to remove/replace the screen! Who knew?? Thanks! I should get my knife tomorrow!!
That's great, Michelle
hanks Mitch x your the best ...
You're very welcome
Hungry again Mitch. 😂. Aussie Bob 😊
good job cooking that Rib Eye!
Thank you
Wow I gotta try cooking a steak from frozen in my air fryer!
You should!
I have a half defrosted ribeye in my fridge. I am definitely going to try a frozen one next time!
Well, I ordered me the Ninja! The ZStar still works fine, but may eventually be retired to the garage if I fall in love with the Ninja!!😊
20 minutes from freezer to lips. Sounds good. Would have liked to see you clean it.
Will you do jerky next?
I will make a video showing the cleanup
I’m gonna put it in my cart and see if it goes on sale during prime days.
The grill marks look better than with your other Ninja Foodi
I guess that's because the girl has its own heating element and gets up to 500 Degrees
Hell looks like a very nice machine Mich.
So far so good
Our steaks go straight from the freezer to the Sous vide. You apparently just add on an extra 30 minutes. When we go to church on Sunday, I put the frozen steaks in the Sous vide pot and turn the stick timer on remotely so they’re ready to sear when we get home.
That works perfectly fine
Dang! US$179 is a great price, its more like US$380 when shipping is added for those of us down under. Eat meat!
❤Good video!!! What happened to the other Ninja Air Fryer you had? I ordered the the Ninja XL. You first cooked wings in it!
I still have it, Julie
Its the only way to cook a Rib eye perfectly
Chicken wings and salmon are great in the air fryer.. so crisp..
Yes they are! Chicken wing video coming tomorrow
That was pretty cool! Does the lid detach from the base?
No, I don't think so
Yep, I gotta pull the trigger on this cooker 👍🏼 I been looking for a reason to try a WM wagu ribeye anyway soooooo 🤷🏻
Hope you enjoy
@@OldGuyCarnivore oh yeah…….
I’d like to try scallops or shrimp breaded with pork rind crumbs 😅
I did a video with shrimp done that way deep fried in bacon grease it was terrific
I did a frozen thick ribeye on the ZSTAR you have and only needed to add a few extra minutes. That ninja seems to take along time….
I got the ninja grill differnt model but cooks the same.. After a while i went back to my cast iron to get some char on my meat , but the air grill is choice wont be getting rid of it..
That was great Mitch! While I've used mine to cook hamburgers from frozen all the time, I've never actually cooked a ribeye from frozen before. So that was great to watch and will prevent me from overcooking mine. 😋
Amazingly, even as long as it went, it was still tender and juicy
Great work Mitch of course thank you. What is the material that the grill itself is made out of? Is it aluminum does it have a no stick coating? Is it cast-iron? Those are important issues for me thanks, Mitch.
It feels heavier than aluminum, but it is very thick so it may be, it is coated with a ceramic, almost porcelain like non-porous coating, which looks very durable. We'll see how it holds up over time
@@OldGuyCarnivore Thanks Mitch for me. It's more of a safety issue aluminum is not OK. Nonstick coding is not OK for me if it were testified. That would be lovely there's nothing in the documentation.
Did you mention how it did in terms of smoke or lack of.....??? Thanks.
I forgot, but there was no smoke whatsoever
@@OldGuyCarnivore Oh...thanks for that. I'm on the fence about buying one still. What's your take on ease of cleaning? Any of the other models you have clean up better or worse?
It’s a good machine except for the toxic nonstick surfaces. I have one. Rarely used. I use my seasoned carbon steel plan. Sometimes however we like to play with new toys. Have fun.
I don't think these surfaces are toxic. believe whatever you like
Mitch, did it end up smoking a lot? If I can grill steaks (and burgers) either frozen or thawed with the cover shut and have it not smoke up my kitchen, I will buy this right this minute!
I had it on my stove top with the range hood on, but I saw no smoke whatsoever. I'll try it without the range hood and see if there's any smoke
@@OldGuyCarnivore Honestly, sounds good enough for me! I just bought it with your affiliate link 😁 If I have issues with it smoking, I suppose I can put it next to my window and blow a fan on it. Thanks so much!
@@Audifan8595 I doubt that you will have a smoke problem. Let me know how it works out. You can always email me at oldguycarnivore@gmail.com
I have that ninja, it’s a bitch to keep clean
So far it's been easy, but then I've only used it twice now
@@OldGuyCarnivore same here Mitch. We have the exact same model and it's been very easy to clean.
Unlike how it seems to be set up on others... do you believe it will be an issue having the heating element part attached to the grill part? More difficult to clean, etc?
No I've used it twice and cleaned it twice and it was very easy to clean. It can be soaked as the whole thing is waterproof
I saw Jordan Peterson's daughter do this. She says it works great.
I can cook a frozen ribeye on my George Foreman grill in about 4 minutes
I'm sure George would be very happy to hear that
Yeah, but how was the cleanup? Did you just rinse that grill plate off in the sink??
It was relatively easy to clean. I wiped out the grease with a paper towel, and then use the sponge with soapy water
I like my meat bloody so an air fryer wouldn't work for me. I have a gas stove with a built in grill. Was still wondering how it works.
I like my steak very rare.
Mitch is this basically then air fried?
Air frying is basically just a convection oven cooking with hot air
Write the time in the back of the book. Your welcome.
Probably not a bad idea
If only they made a stainless steel version instead of teflon🤢
It's not teflon! Let me repeat it is not Teflon
@@OldGuyCarnivore Wow really! what is it? you said something about not scratching it and using rubber tongs.
Glad I won't have to eat that steak. I only eat steak cooked rare, not well done!
Good thing you didn't have to eat it then, isn't it?
@@OldGuyCarnivore Yeah, that's kinda what I wrote.
I've had the same Ninja for about 18 months now. It cooks food great, but I find it a real pain to clean. The mesh filter is supposed to be washed every third time you use the oven and the inner lid gets greasy far quicker than I imagined, and is not easy to clean. Also both my son and I have also had issues with the built in thermometer, keep asking us to plug it in despite it already being in, and that's both mine and my sons. Don't get me wrong though, it turns out a great steak, and very quickly too !
Just soak the filter and it gets clean. They also sell replacements which are relatively cheap.
@@OldGuyCarnivore That's exactly what I do. I soak it with an oxygen cleaner.
Thanks Mitch!
You bet!
@@OldGuyCarnivore love your videos. Having trouble with my favorite... onion rings.. yum
Thanks for the demo. I might just have to buy one.
