To help to prevent your steaks from sliding is an easy fix, just place something under the front of the Ninja Grill to make it level. They made it this way to let the grease slide off. Kind of like a George Foreman Grill. I have cooked many steaks and never elevated it and never experienced the sliding. Maybe you are using too much oil
If you didn't do a video on the newest appliance, I wouldn't know about them and so I wouldn't buy them. Glad I watch your videos! LOL! I hope Ninja gives you some lovin' one of these days.
The most ringing endorsement for this grill: At the end he saw that steak and was just like "To heck with properly concluding this review, imma gonna EAT!" and was outta there.
Hi John, So happy to watch you demo this Ninja. I already tried this one and took it back because I wasn’t happy with the way things kept sliding forward. And I also wanted the pan under the grill to be deeper. I’ll keep watching you because maybe I need to give it another try. But I just bought the Ninja Foodi Smart XL grill after watching your older demos and I love it. Thanks for all of your help. I have cupboards filled with your recommendations. Today I got my Hooter wing flour and my Three Mile Island wing sauce. I can hardly wait to do that wing cook. Thanks John. You are appreciated.
I just received the device. As with the early Flavor wave, Halogen, and convection ovens, this can be a chore to clean. I just cooked over three days some fish, breakfast sausage, and two different breaded chicken wings. I still have a previous Flavor wave sitting in the closet and I love the glass bowl for easy cleanup. The Flavor wave used to have a plastic shield instead of the glass bowl and over time it would discolor and crack. Well, I guess things progress. I heard that this Ninja is a little easier to clean. In the Flavorwave etc. the upper control panel was the hardest to clean; one time I took the blades apart to clean them but they get dirty very fast. My fish I overcooked from frozen halibut and next time I will wrap with foil; maybe I should have used Grill instead of Airfry. The breakfast sausage was easy. I cooked two different batches of chicken wings, one at 390 degrees and the second at 320 degrees. I did not want the breading to burn. I don't have a dishwasher so I wash by hand. If you like washing dishes, you will love this product. Lots of grease. Maybe you can throw the greasy grills in the dishwasher but you will have to clean the inside of the hood by hand, and be careful because it is brushed aluminum. That is the downside to all these devices. There is an advantage to one pot cooking like throw it in the oven or InstaPot. The review is nicely organized and filmed.
145 is medium. I set my thermostat to 100 because I find that the Ninja produces carry over of about 25 degrees. My desired temp for a perfect medium rare steak is 125.
I’ve heard that the probe is off by 5 degrees but I keep overcooking my steak by a lot. So now I will try 100 degrees since I too like a medium rare. Thanks for the info. Suzie
Getting one of the grills for christmas, just don't know which one yet. dont need every bell and whistle so not sure which is the one i should get yet. glad you posted this, i was using your reviews as a guide!
A complaint of the new model is food slides down since the grill is tilted to drain the grease. I like that it heats more evenly and can cook open, but the tilt seems poorly designed. How easy is it to clean? The old ones were a pain to clean
Hi John, Would you be kind enough to let me know the brand of temperature gun you’re using when you get a chance? Thanks. I’ve watched this a few times after returning mine and going with the XL. I wish the XL had the lower heat too but I didn’t like how shallow the griddle was. Okay, now I’m going to get off of that….. lol
I've had mine a few weeks been cooking steaks and chops! It's amazingly accurate and faint whispers of smoke come out but nothing worth crying about! I love how heavy the grill insert is! I cooked Rare Lamb Chops the other day and it was perfect even tossed Sliced Sweet Onions and Green Pepper in with the Chops and everything came out tender and delicious! Although I think I'll Microwave the Vegetables a minute before because they were a little bit too crunchy because of the time it took to cook but there was some char on them! ;)
How many different models of this new pro with grill and griddle are there? And is it worth it to get the smart one? I saw a 5 in pro at walmart that said grill and griddle but I am looking at the 7 in 1 not sure the difference. We had the 6 in 1 smart hubby ended up returning it and now we kind of wish we still had it. I loved it! He cooks more and wanted something else so we returned it and now I want another one. I used it quite often for hotdogs and grilled cheese and hamburgers. He saw the 6 in 1 smart for 165 somewhere and talked about getting one again but he doesn't know about this new pro grill and griddle and I just happened to stumble across it while looking up prices on the 6 in 1 smart. I'm sure he'll like it better. I'm guessing the 7 has 7 cooking functions over 5 cause I was just at Ninja comparing the 7in 1 smart and non smart. I don't see the 7 in smart one anywhere else but Amazon but Ninja has the non smart with 150 off for 199 even though I kind of want the smart with the probe it's not as much off and it's a lot more and only $20 off. Not sure what to do or if a better sale will come black friday. I like how you can keep this one open and my husband didn't like his steaks as much on the 6 in 1 smart and I think this might be better.
@@JohnSanders Thanks! I'll let my husband know about it. The 6 in 1 smart is what we had and he returned but Ninja has this new one with the griddle non smart for $150 off and it comes to $199. So that's a great deal! He wants something good for steaks. Walmart has a 5 in 1 pro with griddle and it's $269 so for $199 the 7 in 1 is a better deal excepfor if you have to return it.
Really enjoy your videos. I got mine a couple of weeks ago and like it a lot. It grilled chicken wings perfectly and very fast. How do you think this compares with the multicooker for cooking steaks? I used that last winter and thought the steaks came out good.
Good video thanks - i didn’t even know they had a new one out there. I’ve seen a lot of buzz about the Blackstone Indoor Griddle with Hood E Series 17” or 22” - have you heard about it? Pros and Cons? It would be nice to have you do a presentation about it one day. Take care. Glad to see you back. God bless.
It was a simple as wiping the grate off with a paper towel... after it cooled off course...lol... the coating is very slick and released everything very easy... actually fairly impressive...
Got a question, have You tried silicone waffle mold? I have yet to find a video showing homemade waffle done in there. Waffle makers leak and make a HUGE mess. I'm curious IF a waffle mold could be used in there? Thank You for taking the time to show how to use this, Happy Holidays 😊
Hi, John! Thank you for another excellent video. I’ve never given much thought about this Ninja device until now. 🤣 And I must admit, I shook my head when you grabbed the temperature @145..but that steak looked “spot on perfect!” I may consider this as a Christmas gift for my son this year. I look forward to more demonstrations from you, John. I truly appreciate your honest evaluations. Karen from VA
Hi John, I have the original Ninja Foodi Grill and I enjoy cooking in it, what I would like to see is if you can bake in the new pro like cornbread. Also, I really enjoy your videos.
I just got this. It doesn’t do anything except grill. None of the buttons change the setting or show if it’s beef, chicken or whatever like these videos show.
It would be great if just one of these useless items was able to be cleaned after 5 uses. It is impossible to clean the burner area and the screen and the metal plate behind the burner and the fan and such. a very big waste. I have had all the ninja machines you have shown and they all fail due to this issue. Very bad. This in no way speaks bad about your video though.
Yay! Another good video from you. So glad you are back. You are one of the most likable people on RUclips
Thank you!

Thanks John, loved the video. I have been on the fence about upgrading to the new one, but after watching your video, I just might do it.
John I did not know Ninja came out with a new Foodi Grill until now, and I'm liking what I see. Thanks buddy for the demo...
Hi John,

Looks amazing! Thank you for your awesome video!
Jelly 007 back in business. Woohoo
I just brought this to day can’t wait to use it x
Great info on grilling. I have the grill. I mostly use the griddle. Can't wait to try steak. Thanks and again, welcome back. R
Wonderful as always

I’m getting one for myself with the thermometer. I prefer my steak well done. No blood for me.
Getting one of the grills for christmas, just don't know which one yet. dont need every bell and whistle so not sure which is the one i should get yet. glad you posted this, i was using your reviews as a guide!
I just got mine. The grill that's attached to the heating element. How do I clean the grill? Does it remove from the heating element?
Looks good as it always does
Does the closed lid have more clearance than the older foodi grill smart xl model? That is my only complaint about it.
I haven't positively confirmed that but I think so...
Slightly more than XL but I mean barely. You are not doing whole chicken unless you spatchcock it.
A complaint of the new model is food slides down since the grill is tilted to drain the grease. I like that it heats more evenly and can cook open, but the tilt seems poorly designed. How easy is it to clean? The old ones were a pain to clean
I literally wiped the grate off with a paper towel... it is very slick...
Looks like a nice indoor grill.
Ok. I know what I want for Christmas!
which one is better to cook with ninja grill&griddle or the 2 basket ninja

I have a couple... the yellow one I use is made by thermoworks and the other is one I got at Sam's club a few years ago...I think...lol

That looks so much nicer than the old George Forman grill I have. Maybe if I had that I would actually use it. LOL

I think the one with the griddle is the one to have...IMHO... the probe is nice but not a necessity...IMHO...

Can you use your sear n sizzle with this one?
Thanks

I had not heard about the 22 and it does look like a neat device...
@@JohnSanders the 22” is dual zone. Some people say it does not keep temperature - but the is really the only negative thing i heard about it.
Hey 👋 welcome back I know you gonna cook up something good lo!!!
Did nonja discontinue this unit. The site just takes you to the regular pro unit when you click on the smart pro unit. Anybody know?
Great video, thanks :)
Does the Temp Probe come with it?, people are saying its not included
Yes it came with this one... there may be models that it doesn't though
Hello, John. So, previous models like the FG-551 didn't have a bottom heating element?
That looks delicious…..
John, how was the clean up? That is crucial for me.
It was a simple as wiping the grate off with a paper towel... after it cooled off course...lol... the coating is very slick and released everything very easy... actually fairly impressive...

I'm not sure... maybe...

By the way, John welcome back and now I want a Filet Mignon
Mmm mmm mmm!
Hi John, I have the original Ninja Foodi Grill and I enjoy cooking in it, what I would like to see is if you can bake in the new pro like cornbread. Also, I really enjoy your videos.
Look's good John...!! Let's try a chuck roast...!!
Muy práctica
Where did u get the blue temp reader ?
I honestly I don't remember but I have saw some very similar at Walmart...
Thank u
That looks delicious 😋 We just got back from vacation in Florida late last night and we drove through Georgia! That's where you live right?
It is... y'all could have had some filet mignon...lol...
That is the new one
Man you made me hungry.
I just got this. It doesn’t do anything except grill. None of the buttons change the setting or show if it’s beef, chicken or whatever like these videos show.
I see no ban for baking like the old ones that's a problem for me
prop up the front feet a tiny bit to minimise meat sliding down.
You said it makes a very good looking steak. BUT, You didn't say it makes good tasting steak. Does it taste good?
Im a sucker that buys every single kitchen gadget and this new grill/griddle destroys everything on the market.
💖👼🏻🌺
You don’t need to spray the griddle!!!
Hiiiii John
Hi Heatherlyn!
NEVER press down on your steak with a spatula....
