Diamonds have excellent thermal conductivity, about 10x higher than steel. So blowing air on it would cool it to room temperature very quickly.

You should never buy an engagement ring it's just a pathetic scam diamonds are not actually rare. The De Beers Diamond Company keeps the number of diamonds on the market low so they can keep the price up but in reality there is an abundant supply of them. The modern engagement ring was just the stupid campaign that made everyone believe you needed to by your girlfriend a ring to show her that you love her.

He's a shady pawn shop owner. Right in there with car dealers and junkyards on the "do not trust" list and I say this as a former car dealer. I never got insulted when people wanted to verify, simply because I had nothing to hide. Generally speaking, the shady people are the ones that take insult when someone wants to verify before purchasing, something that you seem to be very touchy about. Being on TV just means that he has money and an army of lawyers that can keep you tied up in court. He's not going to let $11k go over a simple diamond test.

Doesn't even know how to use a tester, you're supposed to let it heat up the probe for a few seconds until it beeps or lights up green. If you probe the diamond while the tester is heating up its not gonna test as a diamond, which is what rick was saying other than that he has a cheap tester.
