True, but some stuff you can't buy from private sellers, like jewelry. If you run a legitimate pawn shop, you know the items are gonna be real. You can't be buying gold or diamonds from some dude on offerup. Vice versa, since people aren't going to buy gold and jewelry from a local dude, you've gotta go to a pawn shop to get rid of stuff quick. Pawn shops are still in business cuz of this. The most expensive thing I've sold locally is probably like 200-300. I've never thought about my safety, but if I was carrying something more than that I'd be worried.
