Forgets to add small springs to back of front plate. They get taken out at 6:33, but never get added back. FYI!

I actually managed to pull this off despite being nervous af. I don't have a great track record with these things. That's my brother's specialty lol. It looks good, and is a nice kit. I used the original d-pad/L2/R2/face buttons and the nicer looking touchpad and the smaller glossy front/mid/bottom plate that came with the dualsense edge. Re-Installing the d-pad and touchpads was a bit tricky. I wasnt sure how it went in, which side was up/down/left/right because I couldnt get a clear enough view from the video.
I got them in right, but the bottom d-pad squeeks often, although I don't think the kit has anything to do with it. Probably either how I installed in or something, light googling shows it seems to be a slightly common thing with the dualsense, mainly seeming to go away over time from use although mine is still just as squeeky.
My main, and pretty much only gripe with the kit is the material used to make the Options/Share buttons. They're a bit on the softer side, while the original's feel solid. It's not a major issue, I just need to press them a little harder than I did the more solid, original ones that came on the dualsense edge to get them to activate. I also prefered the solid feel of the original ones over the slightly squishy ones from the kit. I used them because the dualsense edge just had to come with white ones. Why did sony have to go with white this console gen?
For those thinking they need a heat gun I removed it without the use of it just use something flat under the board and slowly pry it off.
1 screw in the back housing is in so damn tight i cant even get it off so guess im returning my new face plates
im to scared to do this, i feel like i would break my controller 😅
It isn’t hard just be patient and don’t pull/yank anything to hard it is just plastic after all

Thank you for the new shells and DIY add ons. When are the base PS5 DIY Back Buttons ( not Rise ) coming out ? Is it still under development or has this project been shelved ?
It's under development, but we have some challenges so sadly telling you that it will not coming out in 2023 :(

Didnt get any tweezers and the screwdriver is not an exact fit. Stripped the very last screw and cant get it out. Fml

If i don’t reconnect or even toss out the microphone will the controller still work properly minus the mic(obviously)? Like will i have issues with the software telling me there’s something wrong with controller and wont work or any issues of the sorts? Thanks..

One question. Does the original touchpad work with the new shells?
Yes
It does. I swapped out the white outer plates on my dualsense edge with black ones. I preferred the original's nicer looking touchpad, d-pad, and face buttons, so I used them instead of the ones the kit came with. I didn't see the need to replace L1&2/R1&2 buttons either, so I was able to skip the L2/R2 replacement steps, which looked like it could be a bit tedious anyway. Unfortunately, I did have to use the kit's Option & Share buttons, because they're black and the original's are white. It looks better with the black share and options buttons, but the material they used are a tad squishy vs the solid original's. Besides the feel, I have to press them just a little bit harder than the ones that came with the original because of it. Not really a big deal though.

this video is sabotage there is a small square piece that has to go in right before the main pcb goes back in and it will ruin your hole time lol
