This is the first video we explain the installation process with a real human voice lol. And that's our good friend Craig, he is professional at modding, this is the first time we work together like this and it looks awesome!

Word of warning: don't overtighten the silver screws. It'll make it so the touchpad button is constantly depressed, and the controller will work in the PS5 menus, but not work in any games at all.
Excellent video, and very pleased with my newly transparent green Dualsense!
dont listen to him, i didn't screw my screws tight enough because of this comment and i had to dismantle everything and start over because SHIT WAS LOOSE
@@maxreber lmfao 🤣
holy shit dude, you might be right, my controller since out of the box does not work with games when typing but is fine when in the menu, going to see if this is the problem, maybe tighten until i feel resistance?
@@maxreber You ever hear of something called a happy medium, lol? it should be fairly obvious that @Fr1zzank was just giving a friendly warning to not overtighten those screws as they are prone to causing issues if so. But, like with anything, you always want to ensure things are at the very least snug, or adequately tight, without overtightening, but obviously not loose, no screws with similar applications should ever be left loose. But, again, some screws are particularly important to pay close attention to and not overtighten. One tip for installing screws into plastic, especially with electronics like this, is to first ensure the parts are fit perfectly in their place, and give things a light squeeze by hand around the device to compress things and settle them into place before installing the screws. Then, tighten the screws while applying light pressure with hands to keep things together and in place while installing the screws. Tighten the screw(s) until you see or feel the screw head bottom out on the plastic an then check to see if the two parts are actually fully seated or if theres still additonal tightening to fully seat the two parts. Also, use a star pattery typically, depending on the device/part. However, at this stage, you don't want to put any of the screws very tight, just the bare minimum to fully seat the parts. Then, depending on the part, tighten the screw an additional 1/4-1/2 a turn or so, or just enough to snug it up even further, withought creating any warping or stripping the screw so it's all feel based on the material. Then, back the screw out 1/8 or 1/4 and do this for all the screws for each particular part. Once the two parts are fully seated using the aforementioned steps. inspect the parts visually and be feel to gauge whether things a properly seated and there's no warping, flex, or anything that's loose or not seated. Lastly, go around all the screws for the particular part (there may be multiple sections depending on the device, but I'm referring to doing this at each section of the assembly where you're doing it by groups or sections of the device such that all the screws for a particular part of the device or the whole device are tigthened as a group to ensure even pressure and proper seating from inside to out). Finally, go around all the screws for the particular part or the entire device at the end, go around each screw one more time and use the same amount of force/torque as you used initially, to tighten them up, maybe just a hair more depending on the device/material, and go around each one, often times in a star pattern and this will now ensure all screws are adequately snug/tight and applying nice uniform pressure around the device so as not to cause any warping etc. This is important as usually, once you you get all screws in, and also thread the fresh plastic, they usually require just an ever so slight amount of tightening to snug them up and ensure even pressure.
holy fuck bro im not reading all of that...@@sml2238
OK Craig is knocking it out of the damn park right here. Clear instructions, demonstrating how little effort is needed to undo all the components, taking away that fear that first time models have that they are going to break something and ruin their expensive bit of kit. Hats off, this is superb work right here. Oh, and the product is pretty badass too, shame it's no longer available, in UK at least.
Ohh yeaaa its all coming together. Couldn't find this on Amazon with the app, but used your link and IMMEDIATELY bought it as it was 5 left.
They run fast! ;)
So helpful! I used this with your video on the rise 2.0 to make the full transformation.
Loving the commentary for better understanding! 😃👍🏽
Yes!
Craig is a legend 😂
Love what ya do, ordered the purple one for my controller and eagerly awaiting what you can do for the steam deck
This looks so nice! I almost bought a black shell from you but going to buy this instead. Amazing kit as always eXtremerate :-)
Thank you bro!! :D
Thank you, for having this in Red!! Definitely going to be doing that!
Clear red? We will make it!
Just finished doing this exact transplant and you helped me a lot. Thank you Craig.
I've only randomly came across this message, you're more than welcome. With me having my own channel I have to flick back and forth to see comments 😄

Good stuff Craig.

Hope you're enjoying the shell 😁
By far the best video explaining how to do this on the interweb, wanna pick this clear kit up as well as the led kit, but also wondering if there is a clear kit for the back paddles in the pipeline as they come with a back shell...?
Yes sir, the clear back buttons kit is under production and you will possibly see it in August ;)
@@ExtremeRate Hello! Any news on when the kit with back paddles will come for the clear red version? I'm super interested in getting that one and do a full cler red controller. I will wait before I do the purchase. Thank you!
@@msaludesfont Hi! Hopefully in Oct!
I had an issue where it wouldn't work in games, only the menus. Resetting the controller fixed it for me. Hope it helps you!
Very good video... I bought the wrong kit but was still able to get everything but the touchpad and R1, R2, L1 and L2
Is there an easy way to switch the touchpad, without taking everything apart? Or can I paint it?
I received and installed the following product 'Replacement Full Set Shells with Buttons Compatible with PS5 Controller BDM-010/020 - Clear Black'.
The upper buttons are defective/not compatible (R2, L1 and R1) because they have poorly constructed or imprecise internal plastics (the only working button is L2).
I wonder if it's manufacturing flaws or just got mixed up with another shipment for a different dualsense model by error (mine is 020)
I LOVE THE KIT, but i ws hoping you could do one that's completely transparent instead of translucent?
Will there be more stock for the red clear shell on Amazon UK? Thanks
I cant wait for my two kits to come in
The L2/R2 triggers are stiff when I installed them on my controller. It was like that when I had two sets of them in different colors. What do I need to do?
I am having trouble getting the trigger back in as the hole doesn't seem to line up quite right for the pole with the original trigger or the new one and it doesn't allow me to press the button down. I was wondering if I'm missing something. Any help would be appreciated! @19mins
I don't have a heatgun or a hair dryer! Any workaround? I already ordered the parts and just found out this was necessary :(
Will the shell fit on the bdm030 if i just keep the stock shoulder and triggers?
Does this work for any model of ps5 controller or only specific models, it seems the only way to see the model number is to see the motherboard and I really don't wanna tear my controller apart to find out if it is
This is very nice indeed!
Glad you like it!
I've just completed this. Over-all, I'm very happy with it. But I have noticed the touch pad is quite inaccurate now. You take your finger off it and it flies off into another direction. Mind you, I actually removed the glue as it looked terrible under the clear touch pad shield. I suppose the is due to the glue not being heated up enough. But I had it on there for quite a while! So I'm surprised it didn't melt fully.
You might have tightened your silver screws too much
hi i have a controller that needs customization and I'm pretty sure if i go to another place they will not do it properly so i would like you to do it if that is possible then so .
Hey could u guys maybe post an updated video for the new 040 model controller I got a shell replacement set and was able to transfer everything except for the L2 R2 and touch pad because the screws u take out don't exist on my model lol couldn't figure out how to take it apart
There’s a surprising amount that goes inside these controllers - I didn’t appreciate how detailed they were. I still remember using my SNES controller which looked a lot simpler inside.
Times are changed...
I followed the video exactly but my L2 and R2 triggers don't seem to be working at all. I triple checked every step but the triggers just don't register at all. Any ideas on what the issue may be and how I can fix it?
How do you remove the plastic inside the R2 and L2 buttons?
Just finished following along, neither of the triggers are working 😓 all good mechanically but just not registering, have taken it apart and redone the cables a couple times but still nothing, please help !
Hello, my L2 and R2 button doesn't work after installation. What do i do?
Hi can I check if an average person is able to do the change mod?
Wicked breakdown, very excited to get this but was wondering if there's any effect on the controller's features? Like the rumble, adaptive triggers, trackpad etc. all work as well as stock? First timer
They should all work fine
I can’t figure out how to do the r2 and l2 triggers my controller triggers are stuck. Help
Is this for the 030 model controller?
Thank you for sharing this video to us full support to you from team Grace ofw channel
Hey man thanks for everything. I just tried changing the black dual sense controller into one of your grey shells and I noticed the inside of the new controllers are different. Can anyone confirm? The 2 screws on the top left and right aren't there or maybe they're behind some other section. I didn't want to go looking around
you might have a bdm 020 controller, I believe this housing is only made for bdm 010, check the code on the back of your controller, if there's a small A next to one of the codes on the back then you have a bdm 020 controller.
Nice
Thanks
Hello!
I have the clear shell kit for my spare dual sense clontroller.
Will the track pad work if the glue is wiped off? The old glue residue looks gross with a clear shell and I wanted to use adhesive remover if it's ok to do so.
Would it affect the functionality to remove the glue?
You likely need the glue on, since the trackpad needs to be stuck to the shell in order to sense touch.
can you make a tutorial of how to put a clear shell and led kit
I just did this swap yesterday and had an issue where the controller would work in PS Home, but not in any games/media. Had to tear it down and troubleshoot for a while before finding out that the metal hinge bar for BOTH the L2/R2 buttons wasn't fully seated, causing the buttons to tilt ever so slightly and throwing a false input.
If anyone else is having a similar issue, I would start there. Thanks for the vid!
I just finished mine, and it did this. Thank you for posting this. I will try it right away. Hopefully, that's the problem.
I have the same issue too
Could you guys possibly add the foam padding for the back panel to hold the battery in place? It moves around a little bit.
I just took the one I had off of the original dual sense and applied it to the back.
Thanks for your suggestion!
They did it 👍🫡
@@erickroman798 heck yeah 🙏
Need to really heat the touch pad before removing it so the glue won't mess up. If mess up the glue doesn't look good on transparent touch pad
So I've already done the RGB kit. I purchased the clear shell but didn't consider the touch pad. What adhesive can be used if it ends up sticking to the pad and not the board when I pry it up?
You should be able to use the adhesive that's on the board when you remove it, I've swapped a few over and still sticky, but the board gets held in place anyways with a housing and screws
I finished my install at work today. I ended up break thg he small ribbon cable that is for the headphone jack. I don't teally need that jack so it's no biggie for me.
For the buttons, compare them to the original buttons to help find their location.
i like this transparent w LED 😁
I think this shell/case with the LED kit will look so so good 😎
The best match!
that's pretty sexy, I didn't want a transparent one because i was hating and it reminded me of GBC
Oh... why not buy an old GBC and tunning it!
Wow amazing...i buy you translucent+ LED Rainbow ps5 very COOL
Thank you! :D
There is a new version of the controller the kits triggers did not fit.
How does it work after awhile? i did this for a PS4 controller and i ended up having to ditch it as the plastic for the one inner trigger spring wore oddly after a few months and caused that trigger to stick. shame it looked good.
Is the PS4 shell bought from us? This PS5 shell just works the same as the original one.
Has anyone tried using this and keeping the PS5's d button and face buttons? Looks like it would go perfectly
I wish they make a yellow see thru case. I want to. Build a death stranding theme controller for Ps5
Have you thought about making/selling increased thumb stick tension modules?
We can source the Elite 2 thumbsticks modules, but they are not easy to install
@@ExtremeRate Thanks for the response, just wondering because it’s the only thing I can’t find diy

you think the led kit with the translucent red would look good????
I think so!
Is a hotgun mandatory to peel off the touch pad circuit board?
Hair dryer will work fine
Thanks i finally make mine, look pretty good but my light controller doesn't turn off with your led pack
Are all the buttons of the controller still functional?
Hello my all button not working after install this only analog works can u help
Please go to 26:10, you will see there is a flex cable connector (with pins) above the left stick, make sure it stays in the place like the video shown.
will xbox back button have commentary like this?
Yes! :)
anyone have any advice on why the two options buttons might be a bit depressed when finished? I'm not sure what part affected this, but I'd appreciate any advice!
Did you squeeze the inside all together?
The share and option button you mean are constantly getting pressed or they are sunken in?
Why am I not seeing a demonstration of the touchpad being tested after everything is assembled? and why Is it that no video shows the side with the adhesive. please explain if the touchpad motherboard needs to have the double sided adhesive or not, please show a video of it working after the shell swap. It seems like the ones you show tutorials for you never show the other side of the motherboard.
I ordered the wrong color face plate... I sent a message to Customer service... but I'm not sure if they will be able to fix it in time.
Have you sent to info@extremerate.com?
I beat y'all to it months ago lol did a blue one with extremerate LED kit
lol
Does it still feel as nice and smooth as the original shell though? That's what I'm worried about
It sure does 👍
It sure does!
Will you be bringing out back buttons instead of back paddles for the PS5 controller? Would love to have buttons on the back instead of the paddles! 👍🏻
@@ExtremeRate brilliant! Can’t wait until they come out
@@Usernameu02 Please stay tuned! :D
Does your shells fit every single model out there ?
The only thing that's changed with the different mode was the board not the shell 👍
I wish they could sell more colors ,like The PS4 Controllers Have numerous Of Colors🎮💜
Yo bro, is there anyway we could send you the kit and controller and you could do it for us?
can you make a light mod for the series x?
Console or controller?
@@ExtremeRate like one that would go in the top of the console that would make light come out of the holes.
I completed my installation using this guide. At times the guide is rushed and there are better ways of doing things. If you bought the transparent one, then don’t bother with the touchpad because when I took my touchpad off the glue was a white colour and looked awful on inside the clear case. Also the type of plastic this company uses is more brittle than the official Sony controller so expect clips to break and fall off when clipping the controller back together. The brittle plastic also makes haptic feedback feel more harsh as it vibrates the whole pad. You only find out these issues at the end. If I knew upfront I wouldn’t have bought this kit and wasted 2 hours.
Currently working through this swap and my triggers were made incorrectly. The internals match the opposite side but the shape of the trigger and the "R2" and "L2" match. Great quality...
EDIT:
None of the triggers worked with my PS5 controller. As I said before R2 and L2 match in shape and labeling but the internals are swapped so they do not fit.
R1 and L1 do not fit in any capacity. I cant tell if the internal pieces are swapped on those as well but the shapes do match the contours.
Overall I hoghly reconmend NOT buying this product.
You didn't read before buying then.
They clearly show you what model fits and doesn't fit. you have to pop off your r1 to check. if your spring is on the right side you cant do this mod. You didn't check before buying. Maybe read the details of the product next time before just throwing your money away. Don't blame the product for your incompetence
Was this a BDM 010 or BDM 020 controller?
It was a 010 controller
@@CraigsChannel Thanks. I actually have a BDM 020 controller.
So. I was installing my triggers and when I put the metal rod in it became stiff and then when I put the controller back together all the way the triggers were just stuck so if you could make a more detailed video on how to do the triggers that would be helpful
It sound like you've not put the rod in correctly, I've never heard anybody have that issue yet. Did you not test them when you put the screws back in the cover that holds the cog?
@@CraigsChannel I did test them but they went back in place like usual but then when I put everything back together and then used the triggers they wouldn’t go back in place like normal
@@ayecay4797 Ah maybe it's the cog, did you make sure they were lined up with the last notch on the cog, otherwise that can cause a problem
