@@CraigsChannel those damn ribbons I could totally see how people could mess them up! I was really anxious about messing the ribbons up so I went a little OCD and quadruple checked them before I moved on to the next steps. Honestly putting in those 2 thin screws into the back was the most difficult part for me and my fat fingers. Other than that it was super straight forward. Thanks again I’ll for sure be recommending your video if any of my friends wanna tackle this themselves too.
Yeah then two screws can be tricky, they're much smaller than the other ones, kind of reminds me of mobile phone screws 😄 What's your next mod, digital triggers 😎
I have the 2 button version, bought literally days before this release but all good lol but I am super impressed. I got too dependent on the back button attachment for the ps4 controller to use the dual sense without back buttons. I'm not gonna lie I was hesitant to buy these, but man are they worth it. I'm a fps head so I am looking at the clitcky buttons you have available for the R1 and R2 buttons. Keep up the good work, and I have to say I am glad I made this purchase, scuf and those other controllers are not worth it when there are these DIY options in my eyes.
I'm the same dude, I just can't play FPS games without back buttons. I think my KD on CoD would be like a 0.01 with no back buttons 😄 The clicky kit is awesome, the tactile is my favourite as its got a mouse click feel and sound, I did a video on them about a month ago
I have the two button set up myself. I really took a liking to the Xbox series 2 controller magnetic analog sticks and I ordered a series 1 kit (to see if it would fit) off eBay for about $30 w/shipping and added that on. Loving it right now. I’m thinking of building another controller, this time I will add the four button and look for a series 2 controller for parts and use those analog sticks.
Just finished installation and I have to say that I am impressed! The product works very well and the back buttons are responsive. I'm not a tech person at all but this one is very easy to install, as a lot of other people in this comment have already said, follow the tutorial and everything will work out!
Always good to hear when an install went well and the persons happy. I've had quite a few people be like "NOPE, fcuk that, to hard!" 😄 If you take your time you'll be fine, maybe it looks harder if people have never opened a pad or something before
Once it comes keep me up to date how you go on with the install, it's always nice to hear if people did it with ease or a little tricky. Last night I was struggling with one of the ribbons, never had that issue before, but I got there in the end 😄

There's so many kits I struggle to keep up myself 😄 I've got a box full of stuff. My main pad has digital triggers, removable thumbsticks and the back button kit. If you play CoD triggers are something you might want to look into, I've done a couple of videos on them

@@SpudMonkey815 I've done a video on the newer Series S/X controller with the back button kit, but it's a bit of a nightmare to fit, if you've no soldering experience I'd never recommend it... the Dualsense kit on the other hand is easy, just a little fiddly. Once you start modding yourself you may never stop 😄 companys like Scuf are super expensive and if your pad breaks they keep it weeks, were as if they ever broke you could fix it yourself 😎
I've actually just finished modding a controller for my friend. Got him the Cosmic Red pad, tactile digital triggers and RISE4, so hopefully he's happy with that tomorrow when he grabs it 😁 Glad you managed to do two, you'll not need my video if you do anymore you'll be a professional
Yeah few people have mentioned to me they think the plastic paddles are super sensitive, I think I'm that used to them now I've gotten used to them. The metal ones seem more firm but plastic is still my favourite

I just went to reply to your message but you deleted it to quick 😄 The board on this one is slightly different to the 2, with it having them extra buttons. Extremerate offer so many mods you could do, removable thumbsticks, digital triggers like a mouse click, digital symbol buttons and dpad etc
Followed guide and worked a treat. Only thing I did when putting the final back plate on was put tape over the paddles and button to keep it in place whilst i attached it. Thanks 😊

I was going to put some gameplay up but I'm not a pro gamer so didn't think people would be interested 😄 My plan was to do a 6 months review on the 2 button kit, to let people know how I'm getting on! I love the 2 button kit, but I'll just have to test the 4 and see how I get on with it. The ps4 I only ever used 2 buttons even though I had 4
The last little bit gameplay I added was my back button kit, at the very end I added a quick clutch clip from Rebirth. I've even got my personal best on a video, managed to drop 20 kills with the back buttons 😁
@@CraigsChannel with masking tape you dont have the faff of the buttons falling out just as you get it into place... like I did... stripped my pad down 4 times now...lol speaker was wrong way round , on my pad its in a different way from tutorials... and then decided to put hair triggers in and remove rumble motors... can do it without video now... might try it blind folded next time...🤣
If you check my newest comments somebody called Alex is having this issue, I've told them to use some tape as you mentioned. Definitely do a blind fold install, somebody asked me if I could, I said yeah probably I've taken that many pads to pieces haha
Just seen your videos craig I was going to hold Out for the new scuff but watching this one and the tatical trigger video I just bought them for £52 ! So brilliant price and a lot cheaper than paying £250+ for a scuff be back to re watch these videos when I install it thanks for the great videos mate 🙌🏽
Yeah Scuf is so expensive but I think any company that sell you pre built pads will charge a lot of money. The good thing about doing this yourself is IF it ever breaks or you gey stick drift you can put the pad back to standard and send it to Sony. I believe companys who make pads make you wait weeks for them to be delivered then weeks if they need repairing
Yeah exactly mate I’ll let you know how I get on with it on the install I currently have a nacon revolution ultimate controller which I love but when new games come out for ps5 I can’t use the controller annoyingly so this way is brilliant plus you explain the installation process brilliantly and don’t rush it so looking forward to trying it out 👍🏼
That's the thing with the newer games, they just won't let you use the older gen controllers, no idea why! I understand they have new features like the haptic feedback but people like myself don't even use that. I'm really tempted to remove the rumble motors to save a little weight, to see how they feel

Was eagerly awaiting this video... Helpful as always. Is it possible to have this installed along with the triggers and analogue sticks from extreme rate aswell? I currently have the 2 button attachment but would like to fully mod if possible. Also have you used the triggers and analogue sticks alot, are they durable? That pad I use had the removable analog sticks, the original clicky triggers and then the kit. There's two versions of the clicky triggers one doesn't make any noise and the others have a mouse click, they're called the tactile, so if you're after triggers I'd highly recommend them, I did a video not long ago and you'll see how clicky they are. It seems people who've already got the 2 button kit are going to upgrade to this, I didn't think it would be as popular as it has been these past couple of days
Bought it today and fitted already, i went with black slick panel,think will exchange it for thicker one with pads.So easy to fit with Your instructions👌

I did see your other comments concerning the plastic being better than the metal for the older 2 button versions which was a big help. Thanks for the comment man, hope you've had a great new year over in the US 😎 There's a few different shells, the textured and the grippy textured like in this video, I did have the older texture on a few older video but think that was PS4, its like drops of plastic but these newer ones are so much better and feel great. The back button kit had 3 different paddles, I mentioned this in a video as people with the v1 paddles like myself broke, but since then I've gotten the v3 paddles which are fine! The metal paddles feel OK, but just a little harder to press and don't have the same click as the plastic, so if anybody was to ask what I prefer it's the plastic all day
Ohohoho that new back texture looks nice and the back button kit is looking sleek. My current rise kit is going strong 6 months on, I didn't expect it to last so well, but if it does eventually die I'll cop this new kit 100%
Are you still on the v1 kit? I'm surprised neither of your paddles have snapped, I hope I haven't jinxed you 😄 but IF they do snap, extremerate will send you some new ones out which are the V3 as they've upgraded the paddles to make them stronger. Yeah the grip on the new back case is awesome, my favourite at the moment
@@CraigsChannel yeah I think so, the texture on my back looks like water droplets haha. But yeah I was skeptical when buying as some people said their paddles snapped, but they're still going strong. Is the new kit less sensitive to accidentally hit them? Or is it the same? The amount of times I've picked the controller up or put it down and it has gone off is quite high haha
I'd say they're the same, I'm totally used to the pad now so very rarely hit them by accident. Really good to hear your paddles haven't snapped, but just a heads up if they do you'll get the v3 sent from them as a replacement 👍
Is it just the back buttin kit you've got installed or have you fitted the digital triggers as well? Seem them two mods are the most popular at the moment with everybody or at least when I read the comments on here 😁
At last mate! Been waiting on this. I'm trying to find out if I can just swap out my 2 paddles on the back for this 4 paddle design without messing with the internals again? The cables all look the same if I'm remembering correctly... its only the shell/buttons and the remap chip itself that are different it would seem🤔
I'm 99% sure that's what you can do, as far as I can tell they'll be selling the kit as a whole or just the back buttons with the newer PCB with extra buttons, means you won't have to spend full price again 😁

I recommend not cutting the 10 or 20 off because I had stick drift on the first controller (newer model "A"020) I set this up on and just switched it to another controller that was an older model( no "A", 010) .. Also thanks
I don't usually cut them when I'm installing for somebody or not making a video for that reason, I can swap it to another pad, but in videos how people how to cut it just so they don't get anything mixed up 👍
Bought a 2.0 after watching your videos and decided to give it a bash. Didn't realise this was coming out so just cancelled the 2.0 and going for this and the clicky hair triggers. Your videos are probably the best most in-depth tutorials I've seen. I'll still screw it up though haha
@@CraigsChannel didn't realise there was different ones. I was after clicky ones, from your description I assume they are the tac ones. The ones I've ordered just say clicky hair trigger. I couldn't find any other ones that were in stock for the older controller.
If you check my videos I think it was like 4 or 5 back, tactile triggers they're called, them are my favourite ones. I didn't realise there was two myself until they landed on my door step 😄
@@CraigsChannel haha typical. They are cheap enough that if I don't like the ones I've ordered I can swap them over for the tac ones when back in stock. Just be the faf of installing them. Assume they have the same short trigger pull just don't have the click?
Yeah they're both pretty much the same, just the tac ones click. Don't get me wrong the normal ones are good but the tac ones better, I've got one pad with normal and one with tacs, always nice to have a choice lol. Like you say they're really cheap and a good little upgrade if you play FPS games

Unfortunately you'll have to crack the pad open again and remove the ribbon on the top of the board and re-fit it, that's the one for the touch pad. It's the one on the top that's a little awkward to remove.

Is this the first time you'll be modding a controller? Guessing you're going for the 4 back buttons? There's also digital triggers you could look into in the future, I've a good few Dualsense mods on the channel 👍

I've got a good few scouse mates so don't mind the accent at all, I quite like hearing a different accent. This Welsh bloke was on CoD the other night and struggled to understand him, then a few weeks ago this Irish guys accent was so strong I couldn't work him out either 🙈 Yeah doing your own controller will save you a fortune. It is still one off the best things you can do to have a better controller. I have the 2 paddle one and i just order the 4 paddle one. The only thing i hope is that the extra two buttons are not on a akward position.
I keep forgetting I have 2 extra, I keep only using 2. But to be honest that's all I really need, maybe one day I'll master all 4 but at the moment that ain't happening

You can't really damage anything if you take your time. I've a few videos on mods and explain them the best I can, from back button kits to digital triggers. I've had a couple of people comment saying "piece of shit broke my controller", then when I ask them what's up, I walk them threw step by step and ends up being something simple like a ribbon cable not fully pressed in and they delete their comment 😄

Have you used back buttons before Mick? Honestly it's so much easier to do stuff, only thing I could say is try them, once you get used to them you'll never go back, everybody says that after using back buttons
Really? My friend said his black one was a 020, he fitted his kit himself so I can't say for definite if he was right. I've actually pre ordered the pink controller 😄 so hoping that will be a 020
@@CraigsChannel yea I’ve ordered over 120 black ones over the space of 5 months and all were 010. White ones starting 2 months ago is a 60% chance for 020.
He might of mixed them up, he's not the most technically person 😄 The pad my other friend got as a replacement for stick drift was a 020 that's the one he borrowed me for a video but was white. Out of 5 pads 2 of mine have very very slight drift so might send them off and hope I get at least one 020 Did you see the new colours, blue, purple and pink? I thought I'd get the pink as most people will order the other colours and I like to be different lol

Hi craig I followed the steps but when I tried to map O to the back right it did not work and sometimes my led does not even shine even when I hold it for more than 5 seconds also I tried the down arrow , x and l1 r1 but still don’t work
If you hold that button on the back for 5seconds does it turn on solid? Also did you check which version your pad is, as Sony have now released 4 version 👎

I just bought this kit its going to be getting here tomorrow I beleive and I was extremely worried about putting it all together but after watching this video I feel much more comfortable, I'm going to play this video while I do it and im sure it will go well. You going for the 4 button kit or 2? When you fit the kit just take your time, don't rush and you'll be fine. There isn't much that can go wrong with these pads as there isn't much to them. If you do get stuck though I'm always here
Flawless video,easy to follow. Liked and subbed. I got a small problem tho. Can I reset the mapping or remove it? All my paddles are mapped to the same buttons. Didn’t know that could happen I was trying to switch them. My x and O are each mapped in two paddles

When it finally came to installing the paddles I put one of the things upside down, I was panicking for 10 minutes when I realised I couldn’t fit some stuff in!😂
Lately people have been putting the ribbon cables in the wrong way, I iusy say relax and keep calm as people think they've broken something when it doesn't turn on 😄 not much can really go wrong with the kit tbh
Currently have the rise2 kit, always used two backbuttons not sure of i am gonna get the rise4. I personally prefer the metal buttons so i would wait for the rise4 rmb before purchasing. I prefer that the metal makes way less noise and has good feedback, and I don't find myself making mistakes and hitting the buttons when i grip the controller
See I love the noise of the paddles, no idea why 😄 the metal ones are a hell of a lot quiet and feel a bit harder to press. I'm the same, I've only ever used 2 burrows, but... I'm going to try for the next month to master these 4 buttons, if I don't I'm happy with sticking with just 2 👍
Craig. Got mine today. Installed. Won’t turn on. Rechecked everything including the correct controller/motherboard. Still nothing. Back to standard. Works fine. Reinstalled like this 5 times still nothing. Kinda stuck now. At least my controller still works I guess. Messaged extreme rate on Facebook as per their website. Not sure how long they’ll take to reply.
2 paddle kit is awesome Robert, I'm trying my best to get to grips with 4 but really struggling 😄 I said though I'll give it a month to see how I get on. But I think 2 buttons is more than enough, I've a few videos on the kits now as there are different kinds

Do you think if you buy just the back paddles and chip this would work with a rise 2.0 ? So instead of taking all the existing parts back out of the controller you change the back buttons and the chip section ?
Yeah I'm 99% that'll work, I think they'll be doing the full kit and just the back PCB with paddles. My friends already have either the original or 2.0 so would suit them great to just change that back bit
I'm keep buying pads in a hope I find a BDM 020, all the ones I've bought have been 010. It's no big deal, it's just so I can use the newer pad in videos. I'd hate to imagine how many I've opened and swapped stuff with, this one for some reason the ribbons were being so tricky, normally I have no issue

Hey man. I think the more you use these the more you hands get used to where the buttons are so your brain will only make you press them when you know you need them. I play other games without needing to press them, I just hold it slightly different. Unfortunately there isn't a way of enabling and disabling them. The only thing you could do is unmap the button, basically the same way you mapped. So hold say K1 and X, the light will flash, that means it's mapped, hold K1 and X, it does a faster or slower flash and just disables it

Having a lot of trouble getting the k3 and k4 buttons on at the back, can't really see from the video Mechanism looks like it's supposed to sit on one side and stay there, then force the other side down It always slips of one side like putting a bed sheet on a mattress that's to big
@@CraigsChannel i already ordered the 4. I didn't know they made it. For COD and Fortnite I need at least 3 buttons. I have 4 buttons on my PS4 controller but one is hard to use with my fingers, maybe this one is easier.
What will you be setting the buttons to for CoD? I only have X and O, to jump and slide. I've never played Fortnite but heard you need to press a good amount of buttons to build stuff
@@CraigsChannel on my PS5 I have X Jump and (Triangle) Weapon switch, for sliding I use the analog R3 button. For the PS4 I had X Jump, (Triangle) weapon switch and (Square) reload/pick up/interact. With that set up I never have to take my thumbs off the analogs. I also have R1 and L1 as my Aim and Shoot, it has a faster reaction time.
Ahh see my R3 is my Melee to hit people with my weapon, I've tried using L1 R1 to aim but can't get used to it with my small hands, plus with installing digital triggers that makes them fast enough
I got the metal ver of this and the rods for K3 and K4 are way too big... I had to get some metal cippers and cut it down to size.. Still kind of messed up they sent the wrong size rods.
You should have just dropped them a message their customer service us normally super good. So the rod were to long? Maybe it was a manufacturing fault from the company who make the rods and extremerate didn't know! Is it all working now?
Hey Craig, after using it for a while, do you think the paddles are too easy to press? Do you find yourself pressing them by accident a lot? I'm hearing some people complain about that.
I did the first few days, but after using them for nearly a year now I'm fine with them, I'd never not have them. They feel awesome to me. I know what you mean though some people are saying get the metal ones as they aren't as easy to press, but I'm not a fan of the metal ones
Great video, thanks for such an easy walk through. Have you (or have you thought about) removing the haptic motors to reduce weight? I always have the vibration turned off anyway so they're never being used.

@@CraigsChannel I just worry if a) it throws a wobbler and b) will I need to put them back in for next gen games (MW2 etc) similar to clicky triggers, which is a relativly easy undo.

Do you think the RMB back buttons would fit in this kit since it has the same layout and functionality, or do you think I should wait for the RMB variant to come out? Cheers man!
I was going to do a video on the RMB with this kit, a couple of my subscribers have already beaten me to it and said they work just fine. Extremerate said they won't be as sensitive but other people said they're fine!

How’s that after a while? Also are you happy with the Dual Sense? Seen many people switching over to those controllers. I’m using the Elite Series 2 and used Ds4 as well.
When I first got the Dualsense I really didn't like it, it felt heavy and big, but I sharp got the hang of it and now when I pick up a Dualshock 4 they feel so cheap. The back button kit is fine, been using the 2 button kit for maybes over a year now
Bought the rmb 2 buttons a while ago. Think they'll sell the board-chip and the extra buttons separately? Seems that's all that's different. Also are the buttons metal or plastic? Awesome tutorial btw!!
As far as I'm aware they'll be selling the whole kit or just the buttons and newer PCB if people want to upgrade from the 2 button to 4 buttons. The ones in this video were plastic, I honestly prefer them to metal, but other prefer the metal, so get what ever you like best 😁
@@CraigsChannel hi mate, so I put It all together and it works but only when the charge cable is plugged in. Where it should shoe a charging bar on the TV it just had a ? On the battery symbol!? ... the battery was deffo plugged in properly. When unplugging the battery it was pretty stiff but I still avoided pulling it from the wires and used tweezers to Carfully lift it out
It sounds like you might have to open the pad and unplug the battery connection then plug it back in. While the back cover is off press the Ps button to make sure it's working, if not give the connection a wiggle to the battery
Which ones that? You mean like when Sony eventually bring out a back button attachment? I think we'll be waiting a longggg time for that, but I could be wrong! They took years to bring one out for the PS4
I just installed mine. NGL it doesn't feel all that comfortable. Like its not the worst but I definitely wish the went the HOPE route or the kit for the dualshock 4. The placement of the the new buttons put fatigue on my fingers
I'm struggling to use all 4, I'm honest with everybody when they ask me stuff and tbh I'm happier with 2 buttons. I said though I'm going to give these a month or a bit longer to get used to them but 2 is more than enough, plus my hands are really small so that could be an issue
Hi Craig. Nice vid. Have you tested whether 4 fingers can be rested/ placed on the k-buttons at the same time? The placement of the buttons makes me feel like only 2 fingers can be used to press all 4 K-buttons. Cheers
I've only got little hands, there's no chance I could have all 4 fingers on 4 buttons 😄 maybe somebody with bigger hands, but I feel they'd accidentally press them if they did. Last night and kept pressing the back right middle which I've got set and triangle, when I was in gunfight I kept changing weapons 🙈

No unfortunately not, the back buttons stick out a little to much, so you'd have to just charge it with the USB cable. Few people bave asked this and its a shame it doesn't fit but not the end of the world I guess
Hey Craig, have you tried just replacing the back panel and pcb of a rise v2 withe the new rise4? Does it work without reopening everything? Waiting for an upgrade kit like they did with the metal paddles. And do you still prefer plastic over metal version?
This question been asked quite a bit now and I'm 99% certain you'll only have to swap the PCB and buttons, everything else looks the same. I'm sure they're selling the kit as a whole or just the bits to upgrade to 4 buttons from 2. Oh and yeah I love the plastic still over metal

Just followed the tutorial. I feel like I did it right, but my controller doesn't power on... I bought a new controller thinking I needed a new one, I rebuild my old controller and it worked fine... but without the extra buttons. Please help!!!
I just got done installing. Followed your instructions to the letter… but when I try to enter pairing mode the red led just blinks really fast for like 1 second and then off again. Never got a solid red light. And none of the buttons worked when I got into a game. Ideas?
Most of the time it's the L1/L2 ribbon cable, people fit it slightly wrong, either back to front or isn't in the right way, I'd first check that. Also do you know which version your controller is? As there's 3 different ones now a 010 020 and 030
Yeah it's brand new, it gets released tomorrow. The 2.0 kit is still amazing I'd be more than happy with that, maybe get the 4 button in the future or for another spare pad
Somebody just asked if I could do a video on swapping the 2 buttons to the 4, I said as soon as these are officially released I'll see if they sell the full kit and just the button then do a video 👍

@@CraigsChannel those damn ribbons I could totally see how people could mess them up! I was really anxious about messing the ribbons up so I went a little OCD and quadruple checked them before I moved on to the next steps. Honestly putting in those 2 thin screws into the back was the most difficult part for me and my fat fingers. Other than that it was super straight forward. Thanks again I’ll for sure be recommending your video if any of my friends wanna tackle this themselves too.
Yeah then two screws can be tricky, they're much smaller than the other ones, kind of reminds me of mobile phone screws 😄

I have the 2 button version, bought literally days before this release but all good lol but I am super impressed. I got too dependent on the back button attachment for the ps4 controller to use the dual sense without back buttons. I'm not gonna lie I was hesitant to buy these, but man are they worth it. I'm a fps head so I am looking at the clitcky buttons you have available for the R1 and R2 buttons. Keep up the good work, and I have to say I am glad I made this purchase, scuf and those other controllers are not worth it when there are these DIY options in my eyes.
I'm the same dude, I just can't play FPS games without back buttons. I think my KD on CoD would be like a 0.01 with no back buttons 😄
The clicky kit is awesome, the tactile is my favourite as its got a mouse click feel and sound, I did a video on them about a month ago
I have the two button set up myself. I really took a liking to the Xbox series 2 controller magnetic analog sticks and I ordered a series 1 kit (to see if it would fit) off eBay for about $30 w/shipping and added that on. Loving it right now. I’m thinking of building another controller, this time I will add the four button and look for a series 2 controller for parts and use those analog sticks.
My friend has them magnetic sticks, I'm sure he bought them from Amazon for about £15
Just finished installation and I have to say that I am impressed! The product works very well and the back buttons are responsive. I'm not a tech person at all but this one is very easy to install, as a lot of other people in this comment have already said, follow the tutorial and everything will work out!

There's so many kits I struggle to keep up myself 😄 I've got a box full of stuff. My main pad has digital triggers, removable thumbsticks and the back button kit. If you play CoD triggers are something you might want to look into, I've done a couple of videos on them

@@SpudMonkey815 I've done a video on the newer Series S/X controller with the back button kit, but it's a bit of a nightmare to fit, if you've no soldering experience I'd never recommend it... the Dualsense kit on the other hand is easy, just a little fiddly. Once you start modding yourself you may never stop 😄 companys like Scuf are super expensive and if your pad breaks they keep it weeks, were as if they ever broke you could fix it yourself 😎

I've actually just finished modding a controller for my friend. Got him the Cosmic Red pad, tactile digital triggers and RISE4, so hopefully he's happy with that tomorrow when he grabs it 😁

Yeah few people have mentioned to me they think the plastic paddles are super sensitive, I think I'm that used to them now I've gotten used to them. The metal ones seem more firm but plastic is still my favourite

The board on this one is slightly different to the 2, with it having them extra buttons.
Extremerate offer so many mods you could do, removable thumbsticks, digital triggers like a mouse click, digital symbol buttons and dpad etc

Followed guide and worked a treat. Only thing I did when putting the final back plate on was put tape over the paddles and button to keep it in place whilst i attached it. Thanks 😊

My plan was to do a 6 months review on the 2 button kit, to let people know how I'm getting on! I love the 2 button kit, but I'll just have to test the 4 and see how I get on with it. The ps4 I only ever used 2 buttons even though I had 4

The last little bit gameplay I added was my back button kit, at the very end I added a quick clutch clip from Rebirth. I've even got my personal best on a video, managed to drop 20 kills with the back buttons 😁

tip: hold the k3, k4 and program buttons in place with masking tape and peel off when clicked in place...😉

@@CraigsChannel with masking tape you dont have the faff of the buttons falling out just as you get it into place... like I did... stripped my pad down 4 times now...lol speaker was wrong way round , on my pad its in a different way from tutorials... and then decided to put hair triggers in and remove rumble motors... can do it without video now... might try it blind folded next time...🤣
If you check my newest comments somebody called Alex is having this issue, I've told them to use some tape as you mentioned.
Definitely do a blind fold install, somebody asked me if I could, I said yeah probably I've taken that many pads to pieces haha

Yeah Scuf is so expensive but I think any company that sell you pre built pads will charge a lot of money. The good thing about doing this yourself is IF it ever breaks or you gey stick drift you can put the pad back to standard and send it to Sony. I believe companys who make pads make you wait weeks for them to be delivered then weeks if they need repairing
Yeah exactly mate I’ll let you know how I get on with it on the install I currently have a nacon revolution ultimate controller which I love but when new games come out for ps5 I can’t use the controller annoyingly so this way is brilliant plus you explain the installation process brilliantly and don’t rush it so looking forward to trying it out 👍🏼
That's the thing with the newer games, they just won't let you use the older gen controllers, no idea why! I understand they have new features like the haptic feedback but people like myself don't even use that.
I'm really tempted to remove the rumble motors to save a little weight, to see how they feel

Was eagerly awaiting this video... Helpful as always. Is it possible to have this installed along with the triggers and analogue sticks from extreme rate aswell? I currently have the 2 button attachment but would like to fully mod if possible. Also have you used the triggers and analogue sticks alot, are they durable? That pad I use had the removable analog sticks, the original clicky triggers and then the kit.
There's two versions of the clicky triggers one doesn't make any noise and the others have a mouse click, they're called the tactile, so if you're after triggers I'd highly recommend them, I did a video not long ago and you'll see how clicky they are.
It seems people who've already got the 2 button kit are going to upgrade to this, I didn't think it would be as popular as it has been these past couple of days
Bought it today and fitted already, i went with black slick panel,think will exchange it for thicker one with pads.So easy to fit with Your instructions👌

I did see your other comments concerning the plastic being better than the metal for the older 2 button versions which was a big help. There's a few different shells, the textured and the grippy textured like in this video, I did have the older texture on a few older video but think that was PS4, its like drops of plastic but these newer ones are so much better and feel great.
The back button kit had 3 different paddles, I mentioned this in a video as people with the v1 paddles like myself broke, but since then I've gotten the v3 paddles which are fine! The metal paddles feel OK, but just a little harder to press and don't have the same click as the plastic, so if anybody was to ask what I prefer it's the plastic all day
Ohohoho that new back texture looks nice and the back button kit is looking sleek. My current rise kit is going strong 6 months on, I didn't expect it to last so well, but if it does eventually die I'll cop this new kit 100%
Are you still on the v1 kit? I'm surprised neither of your paddles have snapped, I hope I haven't jinxed you 😄 but IF they do snap, extremerate will send you some new ones out which are the V3 as they've upgraded the paddles to make them stronger.
Yeah the grip on the new back case is awesome, my favourite at the moment

Is the new kit less sensitive to accidentally hit them? Or is it the same? The amount of times I've picked the controller up or put it down and it has gone off is quite high haha
I'd say they're the same, I'm totally used to the pad now so very rarely hit them by accident. Really good to hear your paddles haven't snapped, but just a heads up if they do you'll get the v3 sent from them as a replacement 👍

At last mate! Been waiting on this. I'm trying to find out if I can just swap out my 2 paddles on the back for this 4 paddle design without messing with the internals again? The cables all look the same if I'm remembering correctly... its only the shell/buttons and the remap chip itself that are different it would seem🤔
I'm 99% sure that's what you can do, as far as I can tell they'll be selling the kit as a whole or just the back buttons with the newer PCB with extra buttons, means you won't have to spend full price again 😁

I recommend not cutting the 10 or 20 off because I had stick drift on the first controller (newer model "A"020) I set this up on and just switched it to another controller that was an older model( no "A", 010) .. Also thanks
I don't usually cut them when I'm installing for somebody or not making a video for that reason, I can swap it to another pad, but in videos how people how to cut it just so they don't get anything mixed up 👍
Bought a 2.0 after watching your videos and decided to give it a bash. Didn't realise this was coming out so just cancelled the 2.0 and going for this and the clicky hair triggers. Your videos are probably the best most in-depth tutorials I've seen. I'll still screw it up though haha

Which Clicky you gone for the normal or tactile? The tac ones are the really clicky ones like a mouse click
@@CraigsChannel didn't realise there was different ones. I was after clicky ones, from your description I assume they are the tac ones. The ones I've ordered just say clicky hair trigger. I couldn't find any other ones that were in stock for the older controller.
If you check my videos I think it was like 4 or 5 back, tactile triggers they're called, them are my favourite ones. I didn't realise there was two myself until they landed on my door step 😄

Yeah they're both pretty much the same, just the tac ones click. Don't get me wrong the normal ones are good but the tac ones better, I've got one pad with normal and one with tacs, always nice to have a choice lol. Like you say they're really cheap and a good little upgrade if you play FPS games

I did this to the T. Everything works perfect except for the the touchpad
Unfortunately you'll have to crack the pad open again and remove the ribbon on the top of the board and re-fit it, that's the one for the touch pad. It's the one on the top that's a little awkward to remove.

@@CraigsChannel I'm a scouser, our accent typically gets a love or hate reaction to it. Getting a ps5 controller, these paddles and the mouse button r1,r2 etc. Seems cheaper than spending out on a scuf or battlebeaver. Will be back for the ASMR once it turns up. Thanks again 👍
I've got a good few scouse mates so don't mind the accent at all, I quite like hearing a different accent. This Welsh bloke was on CoD the other night and struggled to understand him, then a few weeks ago this Irish guys accent was so strong I couldn't work him out either 🙈
Yeah doing your own controller will save you a fortune. The 2 button kit with tactile digital triggers is what I would recommend
It is still one off the best things you can do to have a better controller. I have the 2 paddle one and i just order the 4 paddle one. The only thing i hope is that the extra two buttons are not on a akward position.
I only use 2 paddles, I find 2 more than enough as I only play CoD and don't really need 4 buttons

I had a strike pack on my ps4 controller but that only has 2 back buttons so just guna have to remember about the extra 2 buttons 😂
I keep forgetting I have 2 extra, I keep only using 2. But to be honest that's all I really need, maybe one day I'll master all 4 but at the moment that ain't happening

You can't really damage anything if you take your time. I've a few videos on mods and explain them the best I can, from back button kits to digital triggers. I've had a couple of people comment saying "piece of shit broke my controller", then when I ask them what's up, I walk them threw step by step and ends up being something simple like a ribbon cable not fully pressed in and they delete their comment 😄

Have you used back buttons before Mick? Honestly it's so much easier to do stuff, only thing I could say is try them, once you get used to them you'll never go back, everybody says that after using back buttons

Really? My friend said his black one was a 020, he fitted his kit himself so I can't say for definite if he was right.

@@CraigsChannel yea I’ve ordered over 120 black ones over the space of 5 months and all were 010. White ones starting 2 months ago is a 60% chance for 020.
He might of mixed them up, he's not the most technically person 😄
The pad my other friend got as a replacement for stick drift was a 020 that's the one he borrowed me for a video but was white. Out of 5 pads 2 of mine have very very slight drift so might send them off and hope I get at least one 020
Did you see the new colours, blue, purple and pink? I thought I'd get the pink as most people will order the other colours and I like to be different lol

Hi craig I followed the steps but when I tried to map O to the back right it did not work and sometimes my led does not even shine even when I hold it for more than 5 seconds also I tried the down arrow , x and l1 r1 but still don’t work
If you hold that button on the back for 5seconds does it turn on solid?
Also did you check which version your pad is, as Sony have now released 4 version 👎

You going for the 4 button kit or 2?
When you fit the kit just take your time, don't rush and you'll be fine. There isn't much that can go wrong with these pads as there isn't much to them. If you do get stuck though I'm always here
Flawless video,easy to follow. Liked and subbed. I got a small problem tho. Can I reset the mapping or remove it? All my paddles are mapped to the same buttons. Didn’t know that could happen I was trying to switch them. My x and O are each mapped in two paddles
Yeah so say K1 is X and K2 is X. You go back into remap mode, then do K1 to X and it'll cancel it out, or just set it to another button if you want

When it finally came to installing the paddles I put one of the things upside down, I was panicking for 10 minutes when I realised I couldn’t fit some stuff in!😂
Lately people have been putting the ribbon cables in the wrong way, I iusy say relax and keep calm as people think they've broken something when it doesn't turn on 😄 not much can really go wrong with the kit tbh

Currently have the rise2 kit, always used two backbuttons not sure of i am gonna get the rise4. I personally prefer the metal buttons so i would wait for the rise4 rmb before purchasing.
I prefer that the metal makes way less noise and has good feedback, and I don't find myself making mistakes and hitting the buttons when i grip the controller
See I love the noise of the paddles, no idea why 😄 the metal ones are a hell of a lot quiet and feel a bit harder to press.
I'm the same, I've only ever used 2 burrows, but... I'm going to try for the next month to master these 4 buttons, if I don't I'm happy with sticking with just 2 👍

Craig. Got mine today. Installed. Won’t turn on. Rechecked everything including the correct controller/motherboard. Still nothing. Back to standard. Works fine. Reinstalled like this 5 times still nothing. Kinda stuck now. At least my controller still works I guess. Messaged extreme rate on Facebook as per their website. Not sure how long they’ll take to reply.
Is your kit a 010 or 020? Did you cut the right ribbons?

2 paddle kit is awesome Robert, I'm trying my best to get to grips with 4 but really struggling 😄 I said though I'll give it a month to see how I get on. But I think 2 buttons is more than enough, I've a few videos on the kits now as there are different kinds

Do you think if you buy just the back paddles and chip this would work with a rise 2.0 ? So instead of taking all the existing parts back out of the controller you change the back buttons and the chip section ?
Yeah I'm 99% that'll work, I think they'll be doing the full kit and just the back PCB with paddles. My friends already have either the original or 2.0 so would suit them great to just change that back bit

I'm keep buying pads in a hope I find a BDM 020, all the ones I've bought have been 010. It's no big deal, it's just so I can use the newer pad in videos. I'd hate to imagine how many I've opened and swapped stuff with, this one for some reason the ribbons were being so tricky, normally I have no issue

Hey man. I think the more you use these the more you hands get used to where the buttons are so your brain will only make you press them when you know you need them. I play other games without needing to press them, I just hold it slightly different.
Unfortunately there isn't a way of enabling and disabling them. The only thing you could do is unmap the button, basically the same way you mapped. So hold say K1 and X, the light will flash, that means it's mapped, hold K1 and X, it does a faster or slower flash and just disables it

Yeah I know they should do that, be good for people who play loads of different games and want to use certain buttons, maybe have 2 or 4 profiles to flick through.
Word on the street is Sony are possibly bringing a back button controller out, but no confirmation, even if they do it'll probably be another year

Having a lot of trouble getting the k3 and k4 buttons on at the back, can't really see from the video
Mechanism looks like it's supposed to sit on one side and stay there, then force the other side down
It always slips of one side like putting a bed sheet on a mattress that's to big

@@CraigsChannel i already ordered the 4. I didn't know they made it. For COD and Fortnite I need at least 3 buttons. I have 4 buttons on my PS4 controller but one is hard to use with my fingers, maybe this one is easier.
What will you be setting the buttons to for CoD? I only have X and O, to jump and slide. I've never played Fortnite but heard you need to press a good amount of buttons to build stuff
@@CraigsChannel on my PS5 I have X Jump and (Triangle) Weapon switch, for sliding I use the analog R3 button. For the PS4 I had X Jump, (Triangle) weapon switch and (Square) reload/pick up/interact. With that set up I never have to take my thumbs off the analogs. I also have R1 and L1 as my Aim and Shoot, it has a faster reaction time.
Ahh see my R3 is my Melee to hit people with my weapon, I've tried using L1 R1 to aim but can't get used to it with my small hands, plus with installing digital triggers that makes them fast enough
I got the metal ver of this and the rods for K3 and K4 are way too big... I had to get some metal cippers and cut it down to size.. Still kind of messed up they sent the wrong size rods.
You should have just dropped them a message their customer service us normally super good. So the rod were to long? Maybe it was a manufacturing fault from the company who make the rods and extremerate didn't know! Is it all working now?
Hey Craig, after using it for a while, do you think the paddles are too easy to press? Do you find yourself pressing them by accident a lot? I'm hearing some people complain about that.
I did the first few days, but after using them for nearly a year now I'm fine with them, I'd never not have them. They feel awesome to me. I know what you mean though some people are saying get the metal ones as they aren't as easy to press, but I'm not a fan of the metal ones

@@CraigsChannel I just worry if a) it throws a wobbler and b) will I need to put them back in for next gen games (MW2 etc) similar to clicky triggers, which is a relativly easy undo.
I don't think it'll throw a wobbler, it should be fine 😄 after all it's up to us if we choose to use the vibration feature or not

I was going to do a video on the RMB with this kit, a couple of my subscribers have already beaten me to it and said they work just fine. Extremerate said they won't be as sensitive but other people said they're fine!

How’s that after a while? Also are you happy with the Dual Sense? Seen many people switching over to those controllers. I’m using the Elite Series 2 and used Ds4 as well.
When I first got the Dualsense I really didn't like it, it felt heavy and big, but I sharp got the hang of it and now when I pick up a Dualshock 4 they feel so cheap.
The back button kit is fine, been using the 2 button kit for maybes over a year now

As far as I'm aware they'll be selling the whole kit or just the buttons and newer PCB if people want to upgrade from the 2 button to 4 buttons. The ones in this video were plastic, I honestly prefer them to metal, but other prefer the metal, so get what ever you like best 😁

Install is pretty much the same for all the kits, no harder or easier 😄 just take your time with it and you'll be fine
@@CraigsChannel hi mate, so I put It all together and it works but only when the charge cable is plugged in. Where it should shoe a charging bar on the TV it just had a ? On the battery symbol!? ... the battery was deffo plugged in properly. When unplugging the battery it was pretty stiff but I still avoided pulling it from the wires and used tweezers to Carfully lift it out
It sounds like you might have to open the pad and unplug the battery connection then plug it back in. While the back cover is off press the Ps button to make sure it's working, if not give the connection a wiggle to the battery

I just installed mine. NGL it doesn't feel all that comfortable. Like its not the worst but I definitely wish the went the HOPE route or the kit for the dualshock 4. The placement of the the new buttons put fatigue on my fingers
I'm struggling to use all 4, I'm honest with everybody when they ask me stuff and tbh I'm happier with 2 buttons. I said though I'm going to give these a month or a bit longer to get used to them but 2 is more than enough, plus my hands are really small so that could be an issue

Last night and kept pressing the back right middle which I've got set and triangle, when I was in gunfight I kept changing weapons 🙈

Hi Craig, I know it’s a long time ago but I just wondering I bought the extreme rate LED kit and The rise 4 back buttons. Not sure that I can use them both at the same time?
When I go map the buttons in the entire turns off, I’m thinking the LED kit is fowling with the mapping kit

No unfortunately not, the back buttons stick out a little to much, so you'd have to just charge it with the USB cable. Few people bave asked this and its a shame it doesn't fit but not the end of the world I guess

This question been asked quite a bit now and I'm 99% certain you'll only have to swap the PCB and buttons, everything else looks the same. I'm sure they're selling the kit as a whole or just the bits to upgrade to 4 buttons from 2.

Just followed the tutorial. I feel like I did it right, but my controller doesn't power on... I bought a new controller thinking I needed a new one, I rebuild my old controller and it worked fine... but without the extra buttons. Please help!!!
When the pad doesn't turn on its usually the L1 L2 ribbon cable being in the wrong way
I just got done installing. Followed your instructions to the letter… but when I try to enter pairing mode the red led just blinks really fast for like 1 second and then off again. Never got a solid red light. And none of the buttons worked when I got into a game. Ideas?
Most of the time it's the L1/L2 ribbon cable, people fit it slightly wrong, either back to front or isn't in the right way, I'd first check that.
Also do you know which version your controller is? As there's 3 different ones now a 010 020 and 030
so sick cuz i just bought the metal 2 button kit damn my luck is trash haha

Yeah it's brand new, it gets released tomorrow. The 2.0 kit is still amazing I'd be more than happy with that, maybe get the 4 button in the future or for another spare pad
