honestly I think running this clear shell with the black buttons and touchpad would be so awesome. I like how you can kind of hybrid different colors together.
You can keep the stock black buttons and touch pad to match the clear shell!
That's what I did to mine. It looks really good
@@Spicy_Conspiracy the bumpers and triggers also?
Great video! Here are two recommendations I have:
1. The battery requires a bumper (3M one provided) which is not referenced in the video. Mine is rattling around without and will require disassembly to fix it.
2. After you patiently remove the touchpad circuit board, take a moment to clean the adhesive off. For those purchasing translucent shells, it will be constantly exposed and makes a beautiful controller a bit messy.
To anyone struggling with getting the bracket off from inside the triggers: After 15 mins of getting frustrated from using the pry tool provided, i decided to use a very small flat head screwdriver and it worked like a charm. Just be careful with how much pressure you're putting on the bracket itself. Remember to push upwards on the bracket after getting the first side unclipped or else it will click back into place when you push on the other side.
thx you
I bought your case, I installed it following your video guide and the case looks better than the original. Congratulations for doing things with such a level of perfection. I am very happy with the result.
Great to hear!
I bought it, mulled over it awhile, and finally built up the courage. The overall process was easy. I decided to keep the OG PS buttons and triggers and the black alongside the blue works great. The nerve-wracking parts are: removing the battery and clipping the back case on lol. Replaced to this shell due to the grips peeling off the original, plus let's face transparent looks great/
If anyone is interested in the Blue transparent with OG button version, please do it it looks great.
PS: eXtremeRate: Your website really should mention the heat gun requirement for the touchpad on your website listing :) Even though I wasn't going to change it i imagine others would have and its not mentioned a heat gun is required.
Left a review on Amazon for you guys this thing came out freaking mint brother when I tell you i couldn’t be happier. I’ve had the dualsense edge sense it came out and I finally picked up a second one just to custom build I was a bit scared at first but omg it was so easy almost all the screws are the same and your video is so discriptive thank you guys!!!!
Beats spending 450 and waiting a month to get a custom!!!!!
Hey there just a question is the power on button the same type and fit as the normal dual sense one?
@@lonsky29 yes everything was a perfect match
Great guide for an install. Also great product in my opinion. I got the black shell and it looks amazing.
Glad to hear!
The motion diagrams are insanely helpful
My back cover grips were peeling out, ordered and just swapped the back only, it's miles better right now, also the mate front plate is so much better than the glossy one, totally recommend!
Im buying this mainly to get rid of the rubber grips from the stock shell. awesome
same they are soo bad and turns yellow fast and they morph also getting bubbles wish extreme rate made one would be dope
Super thorough tutorial and amazingly fitting parts but for the life of me I cannot get a clip on the back bottom cover on the left side (as you’re looking at it from the back) to click down smoothly. Looks like at 31:00 the person in the video even takes a few extra pushes to get it in place. I wonder if there’s a slight misalign there in the stock dimensions cause I can’t get the new shell or the stock ones, whenever putting it back together, to fit smoothly. Either way thanks for always making sick tutorials!
Broke my battery connector to the controller, the little grey part with the wires. Didn’t realized you had to pull up and not away. The video cut away from that part and went to the next step. very sad about this
Same :( wish i read this before..hard to find a replacement too
@@robokneemedia It seems to be sold on AliExpress
It seems to be sold on AliExpress
Does it just flash over and over and not stay on even when plugged in
I superglue the plastic Grey piece back onto the wires. works again. no issues. make sure to put a tiny little bit on the wires but not the metal part
Can you please make some shells with GRIPS on them? I installed a 3rd party set of grips, and they're already peeling off. I bought your black dualsense edge shell and installed it before this video was released. It looks AMAZING. I just wish you had grips on them.
We will work it out in 2024
They do have grips on it
Great video, is there a possibility you will make a retro kit for Dualsense controller in style of Playstation 1?
lol
@@RukaIXRwhy you laugh ?
I did mine retro style. They sell a kit in Classic gray. I also bought ps1 controller action buttons and dpad. The all fit with a slight modification. The action buttons are all keyed in a specific pattern for each one with the little tabs and one bigger tab. The X and Triangle buttons fit perfectly. But I had to use a pair of nail clippers and clip off a couple of the smaller tabs for the square and circle buttons to fit right. At first they were really tight but after I clipped the tabs they move up and down freely. Be sure to keep the bigger tabs so the buttons don’t spin around. Everything fits and it looks fantastic. Best of all it matches the classic gray side plates on my PS5.
@dustinbrodie thanks for reply, I appreciate it.
Just ordered mine today, all black since i want my controller to look like the previous OG ones. i definitely won't be changing the original buttons since they have really cool markings, only shells will be swapped.
I believe, when it's all said and done, extremerate would have given us the tools to make the pro controller to rule them all. Just waiting on clicky/extra buttons 👀
We will (try best to) never let you down!
Half way through and it looks amazing
I ordered the atomic purple. If you have a charging dock that the controller rests on you have to really push it down hard onto the charger for it to catch the connection. I installed it perfectly as well
i will pay to not have to do this and potentially break my controller, but respect for such a detailed guide
Thanks for the video, it's very well done and easy to follow. I got the back pannel/joystick faceplace since the white grip has started to peel and I can't put it back on. Pretty annoying for a controller of this price. I'm glad your products exists to fix this issue.
Mine coming today, pre order gang 💪🏾🙏🏾
Enjoy it
I changed my controller to the clear case and also added a clicky kit, but I have lost the lighting on my pad for the touch pad and mute button. Everything else works fine, any ideas what I missed?
Extremerate...I love your detailed videos. In every step, you show how you unscrew a screw correctly 😅
Thank you! :)
Just making sure. Can you mix and match between ExtremeRate versions and the default parts already on the controller?
for Example: changing the (L+R)face(s), front, bottom plates/covers and the pause + share buttons with extremeRate versions. But keeping the (L+R)Triggers, (L+R)bummers, face buttons, and original touch-pad.
Would they interfere with each other? besides cosmetically.
Just did that myself, you'll be fine!
Thanks for very easy to follow instructions. Took me two hours 😀 all working great 👍
I bought the case and installed it just like in the video. I have got one question and one little problem tho. Do I need to use the provided screws or is that optionals. Since I only now realized after completing it that you use the provided ones in the video. Also I am 99% sure I did everything correctly but i Have a small gap between the back plate and cover and cannot find a way to fix it. I tried titening all the screws again and putting it back together. I dont see where the problem is other than maybe it being the screws if that makes a difference to using the original screws.
I would love to get some advice from you or anyone who had the same experience!
Otherwise quality is amazing and feels great!
me patiencely waiting for the controller to turn purple
31:19 you can even see on video, it's not alligned on the left side. This is main problem with their products
Ordering mine today, never done a mod before but this video makes me confident lol. IF anyone has any tips would be very grateful 🙏🏻
Take your time and don't force anything. Double check you're pulling the right way on wire ribbons and plastic clips. Other than that you should b fine.
How was the process?
Say you the Goats without saying you the goats 🐐🔥
thank you bro!
I've oddly got about a 16th of an inch play on each of the face buttons after swapping the shell out. Everything works fine, but if I turn the controller upside down, the buttons all drop about a 16th of an inch, and if I shake the controller, those buttons rattle. Also, if my fingers are kinda sweaty or sticky, it causes the buttons to lift up, which is really just a mild annoyance cause of the rattling. Any fix for that?
Have an issue where the controller will not turned on unless plugged in and cannot read battery life
I'm struggling to open the 9 screws. 8 of them were removed; however, the 9th is stripped and nearly impossible to remove. What do I do?
my screws on my back plate will not come out and its so annoying ruined 3 screw drivers already
Thanks for the detailed guide, mix & matched various sets and controller looks awesome!
What are the two springs around the PS Button for at 6:30?
Definitely not asking because I forgot to put them back in... 👀
To secure the face trim

Also are there different models of the ps5 edge controller like there are with the normal controller where there is no cosmetic change but the insides are different?
Can you do all that but keep the touchpad the way it is all do you have to change it
even tho it was tedious i do a thank you for every detailed step
I’m having an issue were my buttons work on the Home Screen but once I load a game they stop working.
Were you able to fix it?
I had that happen with my dualshock 4. I left the touch pad ribbon unplugged to try and save battery power. It worked on the main menu, but it would become unresponsive once I started a game.
@@TalhaConh yeah the ribbon cable was upside down. It worked fine for a week now sometimes iltje r2 button doesn’t work.
@@richardt992how is everything now?
Me too. It seems the controller thinks my l2 and R2 buttons are held down....
Nothing feels like it fits flushed. Did I do something wrong? I made sure to follow the video step by step but everything at the end doesn't seem to just clip and fit securely?
having the same issue, the backplate on the bottom right is not flush. there’s a gap under the Fn buttons too.. i checked if all the screws are tightened so there aren’t any gaps.. but the backplate just won’t latch on how it should. it’s like right where my pinky and middle fingers are. very annoying.
Can you just replace the shell and keep the original TouchPad? I like the look of it better.
Yea you can and it cuts the time down as well with keeping R2 and L2 if that’s what you decide.
I noticed in the video that the USB port was stuck at the port opening of case. You need to make sure that the USB port is snapped fitted to that part of the shell.
After you put the screws in, the USB port will be snapped correctly, but you still have to make sure it doesn't get stuck with the shell.
What minute is this on ?
Did anyone get a issue with the controller not working on any game menu but works on the ps5 menu only way to get it to work is turning of the controler then back on. Issue only started after the full install
Looks great except the last under shell piece not fitting right at all. Had to mess with the clips to get it to fit 80% right.
How did you do that? I’m having that same problem now. I put everything in place and when I get to those last few steps, the shell on one side doesn’t want to close
@PrettySavage22 I figured out a very specific way that seems to be how you're "supposed" to do it. I held the controller upside down and used both thumbs to be both sides of the back shell on at the same time. I'm going to buy just the back shell at some point to try that specific part again but at least it's installed.
@PrettySavage22 I watched that part of the video again and how he did it is what didn't work for me.
Any plans to have a transparent orange color?? :c
Will we be getting glow light buttons for this controller any time soon ? Or the classic ps2 buttons for it?
Let me know when you guys release a snes she'll for the dual sense edge 😁
My 9 screws are so hard to come off. Been trying for 15min trying to get the last 3 out
DOES THE CLICKY HAIR TRIGGER KIT PS5 WORK ON DUALSENSE EDGE????
No, we are working on the solution for the Edge
for my experience this has been awful.
I bought the full set Wood Grain edition btw
so my package came in around 9 days after the initial purchase which was not bad but it still could have been better.
once I got it around 5:30pm I was excited to get to work on installing the product. the first couple of steps were not difficult to achieve, but by the time I got to removing the screws at the 2:20 mark of the video I had one screw that I was not able to get out so after about an hour of unsuccessful attempts I gave up entirely on that portion of the installation and so I decided to just put the L1 and R1 buttons on to make this overall horrible experience slightly better after that I had one more thing I could install and that is the basic black "grip" since that was the main reason why I got this product so i could get rid of the deteriorating rubber grips. and during that portion of the installation the back did not fit and after trying to wedge it out some of the clips have not broken off and now I'm pissed. So at the time of this post which is 11:10 pm I've spent 6hrs of trying to get this to somewhat work and I've gained two gold back buttons, a back that is not properly installed and duel sense edge that has seen more abuse in 5hrs than my whole lifetime. This has been a complete waste of my time and money and now my dumb self has decided to get an $60 Ifix it kit to hopefully solve the screw problem and hope that I get enough luck to get my product correctly installed. I'll get back to this in the near future to update anyone on this issue.
Hello, should i not use the original screws instead of the ones you get with the shell?
I followed the instructions in the video exactly. The only problem happened once I got to the battery removal part. As I pulled the battery out it snapped off. I did it exactly as the video showed. I did not yank it or anything. I sure would love to understand how it was so easy in the video because for me, doing it the way you guys showed me, fucked up my controller and is now going to cost me a new battery
My PS button is not lifting up, am i missing a part? This is with the new one and original button. Any help would be grand!
1:22 launched the spring into a different dimension - can't find it. any ideas for a replacement people? thanks in advance
Should be in the box
Can’t get the back cover on without breaking it..
Ps5 edge button logo/power on is the same type and shape as the standard dualsense one and can be used instead?
my front panel won’t open any reason why or help on how to fix it ?
Have you forgot to put the spring back like at 13:06?
The part where you remove the internal clip from triggers is INSANELY hard. I legit broke the clip. I have submitted a ticket to your support. That part is crazy hard, not to mention went through like 2-3 of those tools you gave to pry things open.
I tried for about 2 minutes and could tell it's gonna piss me off so I kept my R2 and L2 black and changed just R1 and L1 instead
I got this thinking it was for all ps5 controllers, will it work on the regular ps5 controller?
Unfortunately not
@@9darby2 i appreciate the response, I was ready to tear my controller apart lol
I plan on customising my Edge soon so Thanks for the guide. Now I hopefully won't destroy this £200 piece of equipment
any luck did you get it?
@@cubanjit ive ordered the shell but im still waiting for it to arrive. i also want to get some other things that im waiting on
My buttons are not working anymore ingame. Any ideas what i can do?
I’m having the same problems
2:33 this screw is so insanely over the top tight that i cant remove it. It is now stripped and and considering just ripping the damn back shell off. Its so impossibly hard to get this screw out.
DID YOU FIGURE OUT
SAME IDK WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT
Clicky triggers for the dual sense edge and it would be complete for me it’s so close to perfection anyway pls make it happen!
We are working on it, please stay tuned!
Is that piece of rubber that sits in the button housing critical?? I forgot to put mine in the replacement shell 😅
Me too, he forgot in the vidéo 🙃
I have a problem with the rear right telegram behind stuck and it is not possible to open you to reply
The video is cool but I got the kit and it does not fit for some reason. I took my time, used all screws in proper place and still when I get to the end, the controller does mot fit flush for me to even be able to use. I’m irritated now because I spent the money and can’t see to get this controller shell to fit properly
Email them and they'll sort you out :)
Does this come with the tension spring for the faceplate? I lost my original one and trying to find this spring is a joke. I will buy this set just for that spring. Thank you
Do these replacement shells have the grippy rubber part too on the back? Or is it just hard plastic?
Just hard plastic
@@ExtremeRate that’s definitely a shame, maybe when they have grippy just like the original dual sense edge has then it will be a must purchase for sure.
@@sdragon001 Tbh Im kind of glad these are just hard plastic as Ive found the stock soft grips do not age very gracefully.
Extremerate, please make those clips on the last back plate stronger,, i just picked it up and one of them broke
Just finished mine thank you!
could you start thinking about designing a mini wheel for the edge version ? this is adding a whole new input decide without the joystick like the normal controllers versions have with a lot of 3d prints on the internet , there's non that works for edge yet but would be perfect and no big brand has ever implemented it
A wheel? What kind of wheel? And for what? What does it do? Like a steering wheel?
Do you mean something like this www.printables.com/model/157076-playstation-5-controller-mini-wheel
how do i get the 9 screws from 2:40 to get out if they stuck in there i don’t want to strip the screws
Are you using the screw driver provided? Had the same issue use a different screw driver with a longer handle
@@qaisarpervez7254 I also found palming the handle worked fine. AKA: Put screwdriver handle in center of your palm so you can push down hard as you twist.
Do you sell the colored or clear buttons with the directions, or shapes? I got the black edge controller shell but didn't like the buttons so i used the factory ones.
Yes, but we need 2 extra back buttons please! How soon to get this+
Possibly in season 2 of 2024
It is possible to remove the rumbles?
Just did the black see through replacement but kept the OE buttons, touchpad, logo and triggers. It looks great. Basically anything that said Sony or had logos, I left on the controller.
How’s it holding up. I just got the kit any tips?
@@antsoswag It still works bro, everything is good and easy to install.
This is exactly what I’m doing. Ordering the kit today. Thanks for this comment. I wanted to be sure I could leave all that the same.
@@seekabs I did the same thing and it worked great.
Wait so yall got rid of the grips? Thats kind of disappointing tbh I thought yall was gonna do something to fix it not just get rid of it
We will redesign the grip area, please stay tuned!
@@ExtremeRatemake the grip area black or color match at least because anything white like the stock grip picks up to much dirt and oils from the hands. 👍🏻I use a playvital grip on mine which also covers the white grip area so it doesn't get dirty.
Does anyone know why buttons rattle when I shake my controller? My pad is secure. Looks great for sure.
Is it your battery? That was the source of my rattle. They provided a 3M bumper to secure the battery, which is not referenced in the video.
I was trying to carefully remove the internal battery of the edge, but the white plastic casing stayed attached to the controller while the wires ripped away from that plastic casing. So I think I’m kind of screwed with this mishap I made. Does anybody have any general advice for me? I don’t wanna have a wasted $200 controller for such a silly thing happening
Will your led kit for bdm 30 work on the ps5 edge controller?????
Pls release clicky kit (buttons) so I can install both at once ❤
We are working on it, but still need at lease 2 months for the first batch of production. Please stay tuned
Please stay tuned!
@ExtremeRate So glad to see more parts are on the way and appreciate the work you guys do
I cant get this one screw out at the 2:25 mark and I don't know what to do?
Use a different screw driver with a longer handle had the same issue
Wow I get a third of the video just to find out I need to heat up the touch pad😭😭😅 wish I knew this before buying
Can I buy it on Amazon Spain or Amazon Germany? Can't find it here in Europe. Thanks.
the only problem I have is the triggers are rubbing up against something making the triggers not function well
Please try to reinstall the stock trigger button and see if the triggers are working well

Sounds like a profile issue, try resetting your controller using the button on the back
Is there LED mod available for a dualsense edge?
do you have clicky kit for the edge?
good tutorial it helped alot thanks!
Do i need the dual sense edge controller or can i use the default one
This tutorial is for the dualsense Edge, we also have the default one but you have to find out your controller BDM number via this: extremerate.com/blogs/replacement-guides/how-to-check-your-ps5-controller-bdm-model And then find out the correspondant tutorial on our channel
Can I keep the original triggers or will they not fit with the new shell?
You can keep the stock trigger, they will fit our replacement shell🤞🤞
The damn brackets and the damn tiny screws buy cool controller non the less
Having trouble getting the board off the touchpad
The heat gun melted the old touchpad plastic 😂
My left PET sticker 26:52 decided not to aline properly when I put on the back panel and is now fucked. Does anyone know if you actually need those stickers. It seems pretty useless
Yea they kept falling off for me, trigger stops seem. fine without them
@yosemite1142 I fixed mine I had 2 sets fortunately
Are there places i can send my controller in to have this done instead of doing it my self im afraid ill break it cause of my shakey handz
I will do it but it will cost you
This video should probably be edited to show putting on the little 3M sticker on the back panel. I followed the video to a T and he left that off and now I’m having trouble getting the controller back apart to fix it. Might save future buyers the headache!
Did all this and for some reason my controller wont stay on
