Sig P365 vs Springfield Hellcat by Alien Gear Holsters

- Now that there's some competition...which is better between the Sig P365 vs the Springfield Hellcat?! We took both to a shooting range to see for ourselves.

The P365 was a huge step forward in handgun design, with an innovative magazine design that allowed for generous carrying capacity in a subcompact pistol, while still keeping the slim dimensions. They had the market cornered until the Springfield Hellcat was released, with a similar magazine design and specifications.
Which is better?
The Hellcat holds 1 more round in the standard magazine, which...maybe that matters to you and maybe it doesn't. The Hellcat also comes with an extended magazine that holds 13 rounds, whereas Sig Sauer makes you buy the 12-round boxes after purchase.
Both pistols are far more accurate than a gun of their size has any right being. We found both pistols were reliable and very accurate. A lot of subcompact pistols make you work for the 10 ring; the P365 and the Springfield Hellcat are easy to shoot accurately.
The P365 and the Springfield Hellcat both make excellent concealed carry pistols. Both have smart features, and both are fairly affordable. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY SET ONE APART?!
We found a few minor things that might sway you to one or the other.
We felt like the Sig P365 was a bit more controllable. The Hellcat isn't difficult to shoot, but was definitely a bit "snappy." We think that people with larger hands might find the gap between the magazine and the grip housing could bite the fingers a bit. We liked the Hellcat's sights a little bit more, though.
But that was just our take, our impressions, how shooting both guns felt to us. It could be totally different for you.

Tried both of these back to back at the range. Personally, I found both to be incredibly similar but ultimately preferred the Hellcat. Not sure why but most my shots with the Sig fell 2-3 inches below target, and the slide on this particular firearm wouldn’t rack all the way forward when released. Yikes. None of these issues existed with the SA, and all my shots fell on target. Couple that with an extra magazine and better sights and the Hellcat is the clear winner for me. Great vid!

I have to push the slide forward sometimes the rest of the way on my 365...ugh. In stress I might not notice..not good. I keep it for home defense instead. I bought the hellcat...no problems. Oh...the Sig has problems with Winchester white box ammo too. I have had no misfires on Hellcat.
Hellcat has 15 rd mags. Awesome gun. The gen 2 trigger is way better than Sig or Shield plus. Hellcat is better for larger hands, better capacity and the Crotians polish the feed ramps and internals.
They are so similar. And its nice to have so many options. I think without the p365 we would not have the hellcat. at least not now.

I'm a hellcat guy myself. It feels way better in my hands than the p365. I feel like the Hellcat is way more popular than people think. I can usually find someone selling a p365 but its almost impossible to land a hellcat. But I'm happy with mine. Throw an apex trigger on it and a SwampFox red dot, and I can't think of a better carry gun. Oh also, Alien gear is advertising on facebook that the shape-shift core carry pack is on sale. But when you click on the link to your website, it says its $100. I paid $100 for my XDe core pack 2 years ago. Is it a typo? Hopefully its not hiking prices then "putting it on sale". I hope alien gear is more honest than that.
I know it’s just one grouping, but you shot the HC better? Don’t say you’re a Sig guy. Your decision was made know matter what the outcome.
I don’t care at all who makes what. If I shoot it well and meets my needs. I will consider buying it.

Let me save you some time. "uuuuh... they're about the same...and we make holsters for both".
Our version has more gunfire which is worth something.
I rented the sig and the hellcat at a range and really like the hellcat. I feel it gets on target faster, better sights, better grip. It also comes with an optics plate, standard rail, hi cap mag. Sig would be smart to start including the 12rd mag and and optic cut on their standard 365. That mag will set you back 40-50 bucks and I don’t think the optic cut is even an option right now, not on their standard 365 anyway.
I carry my P365 everyday with the extended 15 round magazine...I love it!!!
Having 15 round is definitely nice!

I carry it but with a 12 round magazine. 15 sticks out way too much. Its my spare mag, on the left side.
15 round mag..🧐 your defeating the purpose of a discrete small concealed pistol.. just carry a Glock19. 🙄

I wish there was a way to hide the Brand name so people would shot without know which gun is which to make a fair comparison. I just feel people favor Sig which I understand somewhat the bias but it filters into the videos.
That’s a good idea but in order for that to work they would have to be blindfolded or something. The Hellcat and P365 have unique appearances. Or I guess you could use a new shooter that has never seen either one. I don’t know if I would make a decision based on a comment from a new shooter though. I do like your idea though. I’m overthinking this lol

What did it for me was the Hellcat had slightly better stippling in the right places, an extra round, and safety trigger. Thats where i put my money, cross my fingers.

How could anything win against a HELLCAT!
The HELLCAT can fire against an object without going out of battery sig can't. Hellcat has beefy slide rail guides helping durability and accuracy. Hellcat grip is better. Hellcat out of the box mag capacity is better. Both have great sights but Hellcat is Trijicon. Sig has had many issues worked out sights falling apart sights getting loose, firing pin catastrophic failures, trigger spring falling off. Hellcat is new and hasn't proven itself but Springfield has said it was tested with over 10000 rnds fired through it. Both are very similar. And with the warranties both carry either is great I'm sure. Sig has more aftermarket support. Hopefully hellcat does well.
Now if I only knew what holster to get ;)

@@jonkR96 I picked up a cya. Used it a lot now got an alien gear. Shapeshift 4.0 . Cya is super compact but it lets the grip stipple rub my skin. Alien gear protects from that. I'll probably use both depending how I feel. I like to rotate the cya from right side to front and even on my left side when sitting in car for comfort.

You can reverse the mag release to the left hand position on both guns...
The recoil difference was definitely visible on camera that’s crazy lol Gaaah damn it I don’t know which one to get…. I’m liking the Hellcat to be honest… it’s got a few features that I really like. I’ll just have to shoot them and see.
I own a Springfield XDS .45 and I’m pretty much in limbo between these two guns. I’m a creature of brand loyalty but I qualified with a Sig .40. So any help here would be appreciated. Leaning more towards the Sig

Caleb Hatcher I have both. If you can handle the XDS .45 either one of these will be cake. They both shoot well but overall I also prefer the 365. There is noticeably less felt recoil which I think is important. As he stated in the video, it just seems easier to get back on target. However, their both awesome firearms.
@@audhall7 could the hellcat fit in the same holster as the 365? I have the alien gear Sig P365 shapeshift holster and would love to know if i need a different holster before my hellcat gets here.

Both guns are great! Basically, it comes down to personal preference. I've seen the Sig go for about $50 less when it's on sale. The Hellcat is hard to find since as soon as they hit retailers they get sold out. Again both guns are great and you can't go wrong with either one.

FWIW, Shipping with just 10 rd mags makes the Sig 'legal' just about anywhere. And, it allows those that can run standard cap mags, to get the 12 or 15.

Hellcat triggers will lock on trigger press
I have shot both, but not at the same time. Just found out one of the ranges I go to now has both for rentals. A side by side comparison will be in the near future for me. Then I will make decision which is better. I do like the Hellcat sight better also it will not go out of battery if you have to push it up against something. Hellcat vs. P365 ????????

After a 1 year hiatus from my birthday in 2018 ( shooting an M-16 and .357 mag) to 2019 I promised myself I was going to the range at least once a month. It was working well and I even got one of my good friends to go in December 2019 and introduced him to shooting hand guns, and he really enjoyed it. Then things got busy, finances got tight and I have failed to get to any range let alone the one that had the Hellcat and P365 available for rentals. I liked both guns and still plan for a side by side comparison. I think my wife has commando-ed my tax money (LOL!) so no matter which one I like it maybe hard to get it purchased. Sorry if I have let ya down! I have missed all the things Nate usually has on during the week at AGH! Hope you all are well and safe.

Correction: The P365 does have an optics ready variant. The P365XL which is also compatible with the shorter frame of the original P365.

I hammered Sig for the last two years about all the problems they initially had mainly because I was disappointed with Sig due to wanting the gun so bad based on the concept the 365 embodies and finally when they do get it right the Hellcat comes out. I got the P365 made this year in September with the external safety and do not regret it. It took me about three hundred rounds to get a feel enough for it to shoot it good but it's an excellent firearm. I imagine the Hellcat is also and I have a XD Mod2 in 45 I tote around a bunch but i'm good for now. From what I hear the Sig also has a smoother trigger.

They are different enough that it is unlikely they will both fit, although sometimes "fitting" is a matter of opinion. We do have a 30 Day Test Drive guarantee so you can try it for yourself, and we are making a Hellcat ShapeShift holster in October.

I had a terrible ordeal when I bought a Hellcat. The trigger saftey was unsafe and dealing with Springfield is a Nightmare they just Ignore you. I'll never buy another Springfield as long as I live.

For NEW gun owners who will not 'accessorize' their gun - buy the Hellcat because of what comes in the box and the grip is a little thicker so it's easier to handle for noobs. Plus you can find them in gun stores. The P365 is more popular, but it's really NOT a gun for new shooters. All these micro 9's are going to end up getting a lot of idiots killed or castrated with that stupid appendix and IWB crap. Expect to see TONS of these things on the open market after the election and the DAN's calm back down.
