    • @jon9287
      @jon9287 4 года назад +90

      Stan McInerney seriously? If you want to get technical, a malfunction is any mal (bad) function. Any time the firearm does not function properly. Stoppages and jams are types of malfunctions. I don’t know where you picked up that hyper-specific and improper usage of the word, but it’s not the actual meaning of “malfunction.” Stop attacking someone for no reason and providing no useful discourse when they’re not even misusing a word. A catastrophic failure or catastrophic malfunction does require service.

Issues with the Sig have been dealt with since it was introduced and I prefer the Sig for the trigger and modular design and think it was the better choice although the differences are subtle. The fire control group is removable by removing the pin at the rear. I carry it in a Crossbreed super tuck holster all day and barely know it’s there although the grip texture is sometimes irritating on the skin but it’s not an issue

  • @roguemaster007
    @roguemaster007 4 года назад +48

    I will give my input as recently, I have purchased both as my first "owned" carry guns. Why you may say? Well to be honest, I couldn't decide. I've put nearly 200 rounds through each. Should be a bit more in the near future. Not much I know, but less is sometimes more. My thought process was to check and see if Sig had worked out the kinks. They did. So far. No striker drag. No malfunctions. Flawless shooting. Great gun. However, same could be said for the Hellcat. No malfunctions. More capacity. I understand, new gun on the market, probably should have waited. Nope. Both guns were purchased at $499 pretax. Did not get the Optics Ready model of the Hellcat, didn't care for it. Both guns have unique, awesome night sights. I prefer them equally. However, I did my shooting at 3, 7 and 10 yards. The Hellcat was snappier. That being said, it out performed the Sig, and I had to do some wind adjustments towards the right with the back sights, as out of the box the Sig P365 at 3 yards still shot bottom left by a little ways. The ergonomics of the grip, easily goes to the Hellcat. Feels better in the hand. My hand size by glove would be Large, so even though I'm a large dude (6'5" 285 lbs) my hands aren't abnormal. I can get all three fingers on the bottom of both guns' extended mags, as well as when both the Sig 10+1 and Hellcat 11+1 mags each have their extended base plate attached. Yet to contradict that, the ergonomics of gripping the gun from my holster is easily the P365. It is just slightly smaller, and I carry from the 3-5 o'clock area or small of the back with a hoodie. It's so much easier to control, and not sweep myself whatsoever. To pick one would honestly be like picking which one of your children is best. I love them both. I rotate them, until I feel one day I'll have a preference. However, just by notice, the Hellcat is a little thicker near the barrel, which in turn makes it fit easier into some bigger or "shitty" holsters, without risk of falling out. So thus far, it is my carry gun. I just purchased two kydex holsters from Concealment Express, and I'll give you an update if you've read this far, as to which has worked out better. Believe me, I know the feeling as do I pick "what is trusted in Sig Sauer, even though it had early malfunctions?" Or do I go with the new kid on the block from Springfield, as he has one more round to chamber?" I'd hate to be like every other guy out there, but I believe Sig has a real diamond on their hands. However, I'll test both and let you know. The Hellcat is nothing to fuck with, you can really run it even with its trigger safety "complications". Carry, and stay safe out there.

      Might end up doing the same as you and purchase both as my first gun. If I think about it, I don't wanna get stuck to using only one certain type of gun, it'll be nice to be flexible. Please update me with any new info. If I'm only able to buy one ($$$) I'm leaning towards getting the hellcat.

    • @roguemaster007
      @roguemaster007 3 года назад +8

      @@charlieme5150 For sure man. I'll give you an update. I've put about 400-500 rounds through my Sig Sauer P365 and about 300ish through the Hellcat to try to simply break them in, but then the ammo shortage happened so I've be stagnant or else they'd both have +600 each. I can tell you after fixing the trigger with a small file like the video linked in the comment above greatly fixed any sort of trigger issue. Runs flawlessly. Can't get it to lock up now. However, it's still easier to shoot the P365. And I bought a 12 round mag to have the extension meet the same length as the 13 round mag of the Hellcat. For whatever reason, I grip the Hellcat better, feels more secure in my hand...but yet it's still just a slight bit snappier. But I can put both guns in category of best micro sub compacts on the market. You can't go wrong with either. Depends simply during our current Covid climate which you can find for the best price. The Sig does have the 3 dot night sights which I do like, but I really like the brightness of that yellow/tridium Hellcat combo. I can still hit 4x4 inch targets at 7 yards, and 6x6 inch at 10 yards with both guns, full mags, and I'm not a great shot.
      However, buying both, I recommend you do two things. 1st, Feel them both by grip in the hand. If you're just buying online, go with your gut...but the grip goes a LONG way as it has to mesh with your hand, especially bigger hands, because otherwise small guns flop around if pinky don't rest, etc. And 2nd, get the OSP model of the Hellcat if you do. Optics are part of the future and you'll regret not buying it, like I did. You can look into the Sig Sauer P365 XL as it's optics ready too, but only ones made by Sig. I unfortunately sold my Hellcat, because of this fact alone, but that's also due to bring able to get my hands on a CZ P-10 S. Love that gun. Bit bigger and it's a CZ, lol.
      So that'll be my winter carry, and the P365 is my summer. If the Hellcat was OSP, I'd have sold the P365. Hope this helps.

    I have no problems with the Hellcat except I just don’t see the need to buy a different gun that serves the exact same purpose of one that has already proven to be perfectly reliable. I’ll save my money for something else.

    Great comparison, thanks for this honest, informative video! Choosing between the P365 and Hellcat is extremely hard so I finally got both. Being used to a Glock trigger I prefer the Hellcat trigger plus having the 11 and 13 round magazines right in the box are a big advantage over the P365's two 10 round mags. I bought another Hellcat 13 round mag and couple P365 12 round mags which evens things out a little. I bought the P365 SAS for snag free operation but now question whether I should have gone with standard SIG sights which are better for accuracy than the Hellcat sights. But within 7 yards all three types of sights are adequate. Overall I prefer shooting the P365 because it fits my hand so well. The Hellcat grip is boxy and the trigger guard crimps my finger as was mentioned in the video. In the end, either is a perfect "pocket gun" and maybe, just maybe you will want the Hellcat's extra round or two - and that's probably the bottom line. Hopefully these guns will be carried a lot and fired a little as the great Jeff Cooper once said about the vicious but effective Star PD 45ACP!

    The Hellcat is probably the best pistol Springfield has ever made outside of their 1911s. The ergonomics and grip texture is great. The feel of the trigger kind of reminds me of a mix between a Beretta APX and the S&W M&P 2.0 line. Design wise it looks like a mashup of a Sig and S&W design. I had the chance to fire one this past weekend and while I'll give it a slight edge over the P365, I will still recommend and choose a P365 at this time. You can find the Sig P365 anywhere, 3rd party support for it is better, and it tends to be cheaper than the Hellcat. While I don't like Springfield Armory, they deserve credit where credit is due. The Hellcat is a fantastic gun.

      Never heard of the hellcat until seeing comments about it in the Fn 509 reviews. Went to the gun shop and checked out a tactical FN 509. It was cool but expensive and big for a carry. Looked in the case for a FN 503 and they didn’t have one. But they did have a Hellcat. I asked about the Hellcat and the guy got excited right away. He said you have to get your hand this one the feel is great! He gave it to me and right a away I could tell what he was talking about. It was balanced and comfortable!! I asked about a SiG and he was like you will tell the difference right away. He gave me the SiG and he was right the Hellcat was better in terms of grip and balance. It will be my next gun for sure!

      @Dream Theory It was a though decision for me when I finally saved up enough money to purchase either one. Eventually I went with the Hellcat even though I don't really like Springfield. Yeah the Hellcat's trigger isn't as great as the P365 (although the Apex trigger makes it so much better than the Sig P365 if you want to shell out the money for it). I also agree that the extended mag feels a little cheaper on the Hellcat compared to the P365. There's too many polymer areas where the P365's extended mag has more of the grip texture on it. The other benefits are what made me eventually choose the Hellcat over the P365 a few months after I made this comment. I choose this gun for high capacity and ultra concealment. Because of that I don't use the extended mags on it and still get an extra round over the P365. I also love the grip texture where the thumb is suppose to rest on the Hellcat as opposed o the smooth polymer area on the P365. The standard accessory rail was a huge bonus over the proprietary Sig accessory rail. It's not an issue for those with Sig accessories or don't mind purchasing an additional adapter to get a standard rail. If I was looking for a gun that was a little bit larger than the Sig P365 XL would be my choice because Springfield doesn't offer anything like that. I'm glad the XL version of the P365 fits your needs.

      @@dingoog1 I'm glad it worked out for you. It's very difficult to choose between the two for me since both are excellent guns. A few months after I made this comment prices started increasing because of the pandemic and I ended up purchasing the Hellcat before things got ridiculous. I love the grip texture on the Hellcat. It can get a lockdown grip on it even though it's such a tiny gun and it's not aggressive to the point where it chafe my hands. Not many guns have this but I love that Springfield added the grip texture where your thumbs usually rest instead of the smooth polymer. You get an extra round with the flush fit mag which is what I use because I bought this gun for ultra concealment. You also get a standard accessory rail so you don't have to purchase any proprietary lights or lasers. The trigger was the area where the Sig P365 outshines the Hellcat for me, but all the other pros of the Hellcat ultimately led to me purchasing the Hellcat instead. Recently Apex released a trigger for the Hellcat and it makes the trigger much better than the P365's trigger. I haven't found an aftermarket trigger (Grayguns, Armory Craft, and Sig's own flat trigger are the ones I tried) for the P365 that comes to close to how great the Apex trigger is on the Hellcat yet. While you don't need it, the $75 trigger was well worth the upgrade for me.

    Wow, I didn't realize how similar they are. The hellcat seems to have a lower bore axis though. But that's kind of hard to tell without precise measurements. The Sig, however, looks to be slightly smaller yet have a little more rail length. So I think it would be easier to mount a light or laser too. Both seem like amazing options. What a great video! I love the fast no BS approach. Outstanding!

    Hella good video, thanks! I love my guns. Have Springfield XDM in 9mm and .45, love both. Daughters love shooting the 9mm and they bought their own. I wanted something smaller/lighter, am not a SIG fan but it is an excellent gun! Went to indoor range/gun shop, looking at SIG365 and Hellcat...my lady friend sez "check this!" She pulled a Springfield promo box out, Hellcat, range bag, small bag for pistol, lock cable, 11 rnd, 2 13 rnd and 2 15 end mags, last promo....for $529! The other basic Hellcat non optic options started at $549 with just 2 mags! Adjusted sights off sandbag and went to work on paper starting 21 feet...groups black and surprisingly tight for 3 inch barrel. Very very happy with this well crafted gun. Trigger...more take up than I like but will refit with PRP and Hyve (monarch) to reduce travel by half and pull to +/- 3.4 pounds.

    The top slide serrations on the HC might help those of us who must rack the slide with our hand over the top of the slide. I have small, weaker (female) hands, and I can never rack a slide by gripping it at the back with my fingers. (Although I don't miss top serrations on the guns I have (M&P 9C, Shield 9 2.0, G26, G19, BG380.)

    Great video. I was trying to decide between these two and went with the Sig p365. Cheaper (I got mine for $450 at Cabela’s), the trigger was better in my opinion, better aftermarket support, and had a manual safety (I have glocks and was always just weirded out when appendix carry). I liked how the hellcat felt in the hand better, but the trigger was a bit grainy for my liking (more grainy than my glocks).
