Pimping Out My Springfield Hellcat OSP
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 июн 2020
- We now have a second Springfield Armory Hellcat on the channel! This is the OSP version that I decided to get and fully pimp out with help from a few manufacturers. I added Talon Grips, a Viridian E-Series Red Laser for the rail and also a Shield (not Smith & Wesson) SMSC Red Dot sight for the slide.
This Viridian model E-Series red laser is made specifically for the Springfield Hellcat and fits great!
The Talon Grips are the rubberized ones, and of course we knew beforehand that they fit great, as we installed a set on a Sig Sauer P365. Link to that installation video is here: • Install & Review: Talo...

To truly pimp this Hellcat out, you need the 15 round magazines
Nahh you just have to dress her up in lingerie and drop her at the motel six.
Hammer, Thanks for the review, the Hellcat looks nice! Just to let your viewers know, the TALON Grips magazine extensions and grips ARE SOLD SEPARATELY! The magazine extensions are an additional $1.99, but just want to clear up any confusion for your viewers. Thanks again for the mention, keep up the great work!
Thank you. Selling those separate is actually a good idea so people don't have to buy whole kits to handle additional magazines.
Red Dot and Laser? Gotta love a guy that wears a Belt and Suspenders!
A gun belt that is...! 😂
Laser will probably work better at night🤔
Whats wrong with belt and suspenders? Am i missing something here?
isa naff
Its a joke meaning usually ppl keep their pants on with one or the other. By comparison to pistol setup having light and laser is like wearing both belt and suspenders.
@@2bituser569 Well said my friend...JJ
I replaced my Handleit grip with a Hogue rubber grip. This added just a little more grip size and a nice finger grove giving me better grip and improved control.
We are going to try that Hogue out and see how we like it.
I just bought a hellcat. I looked at lights, lasers, sights. It's like buying another hellcat! I'll stick with a plain hellcat for now.
🤣🤣
I like everyones personal style. Guns are good at showing how individual we all are. I would take the lazer off and instead, put a light there
Just happy to see that something made in Croatia has international impact. Planing to get one soon, in Cro they selling it by HS11 name on it and not hellcat.
I bicycle ride at night and I carry the Hellcat OSP with the WASP red dot plus the Viridian laser. Great video 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you.
Do you like the wasp?
@@austin735 Yes but I had to get a tech to accurately configure it
Thanks you showed how important a laser is. You don’t get a second chance in a confrontation. You either stand to be recognized or identified by someone of your family.
Thank you. Just make sure to also practice with your sights for times the laser is not the best choice and/or it fails.
Very interesting and educational video. I installed Talon's new texture that is between the rubber and sandpaper on my 43X and it is perfect for me. It is what I will use from now on.
Thank you.
The Glock 43 rubber Hague grip works also feels great
i bought a hellcat from murdochs (CO) it was the package deal. 550 for the hellcat osp model, a viridian e series laser and a TUFF holster. I was going to buy it when it was just the osp for 600 but glad i waited out. Only bad thing is i only have 20 rounds of 9mm. oh well
Beautiful setup! Love it! Planning to do the same with my Shield 2.0 with integrated laser & add the same Shield SMSc! Shield on Shield action. 😁
Thank you.
Great video, appreciate it. Hell brother... you shot better groups with the laser than you did the Red Dot! LOL :)
Thank you.
@8:10 I just bought a Hellcat OSP a month ago and only a second day after purchasing it I went to unscrew those torque screws and sure enough I stripped the darn thing lol. And to make matters worse, I tried using a cheap Screw Extractor kit to remove it and just made a bigger mess of the top of the screw and had to take it to a gunsmith :-/
Awesome video Bro!
Thank you.
Dame it hammer 🔨
You always somehow convince me to buy all
These extra guns 😆😳🤤
LOL - watch for one more thing coming very soon on this Hellcat :-)
Thanks for the video very informative. Scoured RUclips for what I was looking for and thankfully found your video.
You shoot that really well with the laser.
My hellcat RDP come with the SMSc optic. I removed it for the Holosun 507k.
Just ordered some 15 round mags for my Hellcat.
Same here.
Great review guys
Thank you.
Good info
Excellent job!
Thank you.
Thank You,now I know I can put the laser on myself! A really great firearm.Love it!
Nice work bud. Thank you.
Thank you.
Nice! Thinking of purchasing one...
Sounds like a great plan I think I might try it 🤔
Thank you.
Very good video! Thanks a lot for the tips!
Awesome video!! Thank you!!
Thank you.
I love 💕 my EZ 🛡️ 9 mm it's a great pistol!!!
Thanks for the video. I ordered a
Superb video!
Nice ✌️ got the Hell Cat love it 👍,it came with a HEX-WASP red dot already have to get a battery 😠
Can you maje a video on how to change the release magazine to a left handed shooter please
Thank you.
You do a great job
Is that even possible? I'm a lefty so that would be good news.
Great info! Thank you.
The hellcat RDP is out now
Beautiful! Question... what kind of holster are you carrying this in?
Hey, did the dud ever tell you what holster he used for the tricked out springfield hellcat?
Unfortunately no
@@favored777 try Exarchy Holsters, they make them!!!
Guarantee if you shoot the Winchester +P+ rounds it’ll loosen that optic. Loctite is necessary.
Which bore laser did you use to Zero your hellcat OPS when you installed the shield red dot?
Thank U H/S for the concise vid.
Great video! Now you just need to add the Apex Tactical trigger.
cooks has a iwb for the optics and laser only one I have found but there lead time is out there
Does the dot on the RMR appear instantly when drawing from dark IWB concealed carry?
Yes, it is ready instantly.
Very nice
I would never know that about the manual says I never read them.
It’s been a year. Can you give any review you may have for the Hex Wasp v RMSc/SMSc
I remove the screws from the smsc and I cannot get the red dot off. It's a brand new gun, came installed. I don't want to try and pry it off. It's only the two screws holding that thing on??
The two screws should be the only retention - it is possible that some loctite got under it and is making it stick but it should come right off.
@@HammerStriker yeah there was some sticky residue under the sight that apparently made it stick and I didnt want to break it trying to pull too hard. Pulled hard and it came off though! thank you
...great video....thx 👍
Thank you.
Nice
I have the exact same setup less the grips and have had a hell of a time trying to find an OWB concealed carry for this setup with the laser and OSP. Anyone have any luck with this?
I finally found one and I am happy with it. IWB for Hellcat with RMR and E series Viridian. Here is the link. Enjoy. phalanxconcealment.com/shop/iwb-hoslters-for-guns-with-lights-or-lasers/xlp-dagger-2-0-with-light
Any holster recommendations for hellcat with laser/red dot set up like you have? Im having trouble finding anything.
There’s one on the Springfield Store website by Crucial Concealment. Looks like it’ll fit the regular hellcat or OSP with the Viridian E Series Laser.
We did a video on a holster by Exarchy that fits this gun configured as you see it.
Warcat tactical has an excellent holster I got for my hellcat
What type of holsters would you recommend for this type of setup? I too am planning to get a red dot and laser, but no luck in finding a holster to accommodate both.
Exarchy makes a holster that works well with this exact setup, unfortunately it took a VERY long time to get it but it is a nice holster.
i hear they don't shoot well but that's one goodlooking gun...
I have had no trouble shooting either of these well, they are small so it is a bit more work to handle them properly but they shoot well if you do.
Wouldn't both a laser and red dot be confusing?? Trying to get two dots on target seems counter productive.
You are likely to use one or the other. The laser when you don't plan to bring the gun or the red-dot into a full sightline (off angle threats). The red-dot when you are going to line up and would otherwise use the sights. This is the only gun I put both on, usually I choose one or the other.
The way the laser fastens I find a bit cheesy. The plastic has enough forgiveness to allow it to easily get bumped off zero by minimal pressure and it doesn’t return to zero completely.
So what holster do you use for concealed carry with all these attachments?
Waiting on an Exarchy to arrive but it has not yet.
Red dot (tactical) laser when it does not matter. Shalom
thats cool but most situations will never really require a laser especially in stressful situations. And if you in a full on combat match were your in a gunfight for hours you need a longer range firearm
What OWB holsters are available for the Hellcat PRO with a red Viridian laser? TIA
How’s the laser holding up for you? I just got my hellcat, thinking of getting one for mine too.
Both the laser and the red-dot are running fine still.
@@HammerStriker what holster are you using?
A red dot, iron sight AND a laser. Talk about redundancy haha
Have you found a holster that works with the laser?
Still waiting on an Exarchy that will allegedly fit but I cannot comment on it until I get it and try it.
I've been looking for a flashlight/laser attachment for my Hellcat
This is working well so far, similar design to the ones I use on my carry Glocks (those happen to be Crimson Trace but Veridian makes excellent products as well).
A W E S O M E !
Thank you.
What bore sight do you use or recommend?? My red dot is off and I want to be able to adjust without the naked eye
I have had good luck with Sightmark Bore Sights, they are caliber specific and work well.
@@HammerStriker thanks for the reply! My red dot on one of my pistols shoots way low but I don’t have ease of access to nice long ranges or sandbags etc so looking for other ways to zero it out
i love my hellcat
How did you like that new grip? (Hellcat symbol) Thinking of ordering it for mine
Overall, I do like the grip and the logo. If you leave out the colored square then it will just blend in if you don't like the colored logo (on either side).
@@HammerStriker definely going to order that bright red or blue one lol looks nice
I just got my laser for my hellcat what IWB holster fits this?
What holster are you using with the laser?
We just found one and ordered it - it may take a couple of weeks to get here and we will do a "Gear Review" video on it. I don't want to recommend it until we test it but it looks pretty good online.
@@HammerStriker thanks I'm looking forward to the video. Gear reviews are a public service & we thank you.
@@HammerStriker hey any updates on the holster? Can you provide the link?
Why did you purchase the mounting hardware from Springfield? You couldn't use the screws that come with the Shield SMSC??? or the screws that are already on the plate??? is it necessary to purchase the mounting kit??? Thanks!
If you buy the sight directly from Springfield (from their site) it will come with everything you need. If you buy the sight elsewhere it may not. The screws have to be the right length to avoid interfering with the striker.
Hammer Striker Thank you! Springfield has been Out of stock but I was able to find it directly from shield. They told be it comes with the hellcat hardware but sometimes the sales rep can be mistaken. I hope not! Lol. I’m guessing the length of the screws have to be the exact size as the screws in the plate. Can the screws that come with the plate be used, just in case or should I just purchase the kit from Springfield? Thanks!!
Great job on the Hellcat! Just curious, are you considering a DPM Recoil rod/spring upgrade or a PRP trigger in the future?
Thank you. I rarely change recoil springs unless I have an actual functional issue so I am unlikely to change that part. I frequently do trigger jobs but I am actually happy with the Hellcat trigger so most likely I will leave it alone.
Hammer Striker I agree 100 percent. The Hellcat has a very good trigger from the factory. A good trigger job can make it smoother and lighter, which should be all anyone would ever need. Changing the recoil system is not for everyone and should only be done if absolutely needed. Plus the DLM recoil is laughably overpriced for what you get.
I put a dpm recoil spring in my fnx 45 tactical, it already recoiled on the softer side but I suppose it helped a little bit. No function issues and I figure the spring should help the slide not beat the frame up over the longrun.
Laser and red dot? Why not a flashlight and a bipod with a vertical foregrip plus ghost ring and night vision?
Does the red dot ever turn off and then on with motion??
Yes, in total darkness it does. The battery should last 2 years with heavy use and 4 years or so if it is mostly stored in the dark or with the cap on it.
Hammer Striker thank you!! Does it come with a cover to put over, when not in use?
Looks like "Karen" was the inspector on your red dot sight, so hopefully she doesn't report you for something... 😂😷🇺🇸
One thing is for sure.. the quality control on that particular unit will be rock fuckin solid.
Hammer/Striker
I have a question. The kit you brought from Springfield SMSc does the screws actually work?
To me why have a laser with a optic. More practical to have a light verses a laser
I have a light with my optic and a laser dont really care for the laser but the light is to blind the attacker if needed at night
Why two lasers needed?
The optic is crap, min didn't hold zero the polymer lense scratched super easy and its not adjustable, your better off getting a rmrcc or a 507k
So just stick to the red laser that comes with it
Springfield just came out with the HEX™ Wasp™ Red Dot Optic Designed for low-profile, direct mounting for the Hellcat.
With the 507k you have to get the slide milled for it. The Swampfox Sentinel is a much better option.
@@Fishin4funout4trout You can get an adapter plate for mounting the Holosun.
Great video! Can i ask what bore laser you used?
Thank you. That is a Viridian E-series made specifically for this gun.
Could you not just buy an OSP slide for a regular Hellcat if you really wanted to? Genuinely curious.
Theoretically yes, the hard part would be getting just the slide.
I would like to add laser to my new Hellcat. But the way you explained about how that battery woks. Be careful not to do this, but must do that... do not peel off sticker... scares the heck out of me. Just to add the laser to my gun and I need to read and memorize a 300-page manual (of course I'm only exaggerate the process). But you understand what I mean. Must it be that complicated?
Nice video. Just order the veridian E series.I have one question. I was wondering if your hellcat rattles no matter if is cocked or not and if all the rattles are normal. Thank you.
Mine rattles slightly when it isn’t cocked. When it’s charged, it’s super tight. No rattle.
This one does not rattle when cocked, a lot of striker guns will when the sear is disconnected because the striker is able to move around.
Is not the striker is the MAGAZINE BLOCKING LEVEL. I contact Springfield armory and I was told to put some oil which I did with no results. I was wondering what will happen if I remove it. Thank you.
I am trying to install this laser on my hellcat but the non laser side is not snaping in place properly. Have any advice to help?
Do all hellcats have the green logo?
I heard that this laser won't hold after firing the gun. Is this true?......what iwb holster are you using?
great vid. Do you know of any right sided holsters for the hellcat with site and laser attatched?
Thank you. I have an Exarchy on order that has not yet arrived for me to test/review. Looks good on the site but until I try it I cannot easily give it a thumps up/down.
@@HammerStriker any updates on this? I’m looking for a holster as well.
This is the old conversation of built vs bolt on. Can I just say…you don’t need a red dot and a laser… it’s one or the other. Also for the price you paid for both you could’ve got the RMSc which is a far superior red dot. Also…swap the trigger and internal springs and then we can call it “pimping it out”. You just made a simple firearm into something with 2 battery life’s.
Looks great , just got my Hellcat type of holster do you use & where did you get it ?
I am waiting on an Exarchy holster I ordered but don't have yet.
Black Arch has IWB or OWB for about $100. Al's Sporting Goods sells them for about $70.
Nice looking Hellcat, but do you know of a holster for this set up?
We actually have an upcoming review on an Exarchy holster for this gun.
Black Arch makes both IWB and OWB options with or without an attached mag pouch.
the OG gripping is SO AWESOME. why change it?
Which one shoots softer in your opinion? The 365 or the hellcat?
Both are small enough to be a bit snappy, but the Hellcat fits better in my hand which makes it feel like there is less recoil.
@@HammerStriker .... thanks for answering brotha. We all appreciate time and effort you put into making these videos for us!! I have about large size hand and the hellcat does feel more ergonomic in my hand than the 365 but a lot of reviews I watch majority are leaning towards 365... thanks brotha and happy new year gun people!! 🤘🤘🇺🇸🇺🇸🔫🔫🇺🇸🇺🇸
Watching your video now, I’m looking for a shield red dot. Where can I find one?
Springfield Armory actually sells them directly on their site.
Hammer Striker they’re out of stock, sad about that!
You can also buy directly from Shield Sights. They have them in stock but it takes about a week to receive since they are a company out of the UK.
Try SHIELD10 for a 10% discount on the shield sights website.
@@wadealley74 they have them back in stock now. Not sure if you're still in the market.
Why would you put a red dot and a laser?
The lever on mind stuck man shit fucking my fingers up
Does the laser hold zero? I got the coupon in the box but ive seen some reviews that arent exactly favorable. I'd rather not waste the money on it if it wont even hold zero.
I have not had any trouble with this one. They key is properly zeroing it and firing a few rounds to ensure the internals are settled before walking away.
No it’s not perfect. It is within a few inches. You can put the pistol in a vice and use a finger to push the laser to one side or another. I saw a few inches either direction at 10 feet. It wouldn’t go all the back to zero either when nudged with a finger. I feel like the screws are too small to provide any sort of squeeze on the rail and trigger guard and only hold the 2 halves together.
@@RadDadisRad thats what I was concerned about. Ive never been sold on basic lasers on pistols anyway, but I got a coupon for a viridian when I bought my hellcat too and was considering getting it. But idk if I want to if it isnt worth anything.
I like the idea of adding the laser to back up the red dot. where did you find a holster to fit it?
Exarchy makes a holster for it and we recently published a review on it - good holster.
The sites are there to backup the red!
@@j.m.youngquist419 everything is a backup to the sights.
Has anybody got a couple hundred down range with this laser? If so, how well does it hold zero?
Hey yeah I have and for me it’s held zero lovely. Maybe shot about 300 ish with the laser.
does anyone know how much is the distance between the trigger guard and mounting slot for the springfield hellcat? thank you
Have the same set up on my minus the grips. What holster u recommend?
I have not looked for a holster yet for this setup - though I did a search for Hellcat Viridian Holster and came up with several options. The red-dot is a bit less important to a holster because it is very easy to notch the holster a bit if needed to clear it.
Hammer Striker crucial Concealment make a holster specifically for the OSP model and it’s shown on the Springfield website
Fs 5actical makes holsters for the hellcat with lights
I have the SMSc with olight mini pl-2 flashlight, and 'FSTactical' has a holster specifically for the abovementioned setup.
If you don’t have that plate that lets you put the shield light on it. Can you order one for it. So I can get a shield light. I mean I have the laser
You remove the existing plate (that makes it smooth across the top) and the shield drops directly into the cutout where the plate was. It doesn't use an Optic Mounting plate like most of the others.
I don’t think mine comes off cuz I don’t see screws on top of it
That’s why I asked if I can replace with one that does let me have the optic site
Are you sure It is an OSP? If it doesn't have the two screws and a plate then it is likely not. The laser will work on both models but only the OSP can take a red dot.
The non-OSP cannot be converted without cutting the slide, which may not even be an option with this gun.
