This is the difference between music back in the day and now. No backing tracks, no auto tune. Just raw talent. Maiden has had a huge world wide following for 40 years for a reason.
Don't forget filters and CGI they are basically not real just pretty actors.
100% right Sir ......... 🤘 up the Irons from Germany 🍻
There are still a bunch of bands like this today who just go up on stage and play their shit. So many good metal bands out there today they just aren’t as popular these days.
Overdubbing in the old live albums..
Lot of great stuff going on, bu UP THE IRONS!
Mr. Bruce "Airsiren" Dickinson. One of the best Metal Singers for more than 40 years 🤘 Greetings from Germany.
Air raid siren Is his nickname. Greetings from Italy 🤟🤟🤟
@@claudioferraro1652You‘re right, I miss the „raid“🙈
Never heard that moniker, but I like it. Dude has pipes.
He's one of the greatest singers of all time period.
@@claudioferraro1652 "The" Air Raid Siren.Greetings from Holland.
The greatest metal song ever recorded. And its live!
No Auto tune, no digital looped beats, all raw , all musicianship....all IRON MAIDEN!!!
True, but there are better versions!
Up the irons!
@moonchildah yep! For me, the Flight 666 version is the best one.
Rime of the Ancient Mariner is the greatest metal song ever for me. This is second. Both amazing songs.
The man behind the drums was Mr. Clive Burr who tragically died of multiple sclerosis at the young age of 56, great drummer, best person, God bless him.
Clive was a great drummer and Nicko was a perfect replacement. True Maiden fans can tell the difference, though. Up the Irons!
R.I.P Clive Burr
I always liked the drumming of Clive Burr more than Nicko McBrains one. It felt a lot smoother. (And I like Nicko McBrain.)
Love Nicko, but Clive just had a feel for the music. I think Number of the Beast is their best album because it had Clive and Bruce.
@@rodjapavlik5730That's probably what I meant when I said true Maiden fans could tell the difference but I couldn't put my finger on it. I have to agree that his drumming was smoother
You wouldn't believe how much fun you would have at an Iron Maiden concert. They blow everyone away every single time. They're legendary and I can't wait to see them again this year in November!
Also, vocalist Bruce Dickinson is not only a singer, but a pilot, champion fencer and throat cancer survivor. He flies the band on tour. He's basically a total badass!
WOW!!! he sounds incredible! a jack of all trades
@@StaceyRPGReactsHe totally is and if you ever get the chance, please see them live. You will love it!
@@StaceyRPGReactsgoogle “Iron Maiden plane”
I'm also seeing them this November for the first time. Nov 16 Tacoma Dome. I'll see you there if that's your venue. Can't wait. Wish I would've seen them in the 80s though when them and I were younger.
Does Bruce still tour with Iron Maiden? I remember he is pretty old now. Most frontmen have retired
Hard to go wrong with Iron Maiden. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner (live) is great.
Yes
Flieht 666 version!
Definitely the Flight 666 version!
Studio is better.. just a fact
@@Damien.Young46 you're right for any band other than Iron Maiden. You're also the only person I've ever seen say that the studio version is better for Iron Maiden.
🤟Up The Irons!! 🤟 Fan since '84!
My first concert as a 13 yo kid Maiden Powerslave in 84 \m/
@@tukkerintensity5575Powerslave is my favourite Bruce album!🏴
Here too the 80s were surreal.
Fought my way to the first row Powerslave tour. 13 years old. First time I made sure I was in front of a bass player. 🤟
Finally!! I’m so pleased that you have decided to listen to one of the greatest and influential metal bands of all time. Every member of that band (including current members) are masters of their craft and their live performances are even better than the studio versions, and the studio albums are phenomenal. If you could also take a peek at Judas Priest as well I think you’d have everything you’d ever need!
The fact that this song still gives me chills after thousands of listens speaks volumes of this band for me. One of the best if not the best heavy metal bands ever!
And this is their energy during an encore . They had already been playing , and singing , for up to 3 hrs .
Live performances are the way to go with iron maiden. As you say they are impeccable live.
One of the greatest heavy metal songs ever written!!
Correction: It is the greatest heavy metal song ever written and performed. 😁
Bruce Dickenson is the vocalist and had earned the nickname of "The Human Air Raid Siren", for his powerful voice. He has for many years now been considered to be one of the top metal vocalists. I have seen Maiden live 3 times in my life, and what you will always get is energy personified, even at their current ages. You can see it in their performances that they are having fun and also love the fans, as you can also see! They are one of those bands that are better live then studio. Another standout live performance is: Fear of the Dark (live from Rock in Rio). and Rime of the Ancient Mariner (Live Flight 666) which is a long one. But they are great storytellers as you will see in their music!
A Fantastic live performance is also to be had with "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" from the Flight 666 concert. They are a lot older but it is seriously epic, you will be blown away x2.
Older, but much much better
In my opinion the version of Live After Death in '85 is superior in speed, deployment of the musicians and accuracy of the sound, as well as in its staging (I am referring to the style of filming the concert, which is more cinematic). Furthermore, the musicians were at their best, Bruce's voice sounded at full strength and it was the tour's presentation of the song itself. But I can understand that so many people recommend Flight 666 because it is more modern (perhaps) and as a curiosity of how the band remained at a very high level to this day (although said tour is already 16 years old since it was carried out). ).
I second the Live After Death version, I wore out the grooves on that album when I was 13!
I like the live after death version more ngl
Hell yeah
Dave and Adrian playing guitar like they are just going to the office, "Yeah, we are Iron Maiden... Ho hum." Dude is even in his blazer. Greatness.
Iron Maiden ARE heavy metal. Going on a musical journey without including Iron Maiden is like studying astronomy and missing out the sun. Well done. Loved the reaction
The amount of power and range Bruce has is insane. A true legend in the music community
I’ve probably listened to “Hallowed be Thy Name” over a hundred times and it never gets old for me. It’s such a moving song, musically and narratively-a condemned person looking towards Heaven and ultimate atonement.
I'm so glad she showed Clive Burr some love. Nicko is awesome but so many people forget that Clive was the drummer on these earlier albums and, as a professional musician myself, he was an absolute beast. Heartbreakingly, he died in 2013 after a very long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Clive Burr is an underrated drummer!
What hooked me in 1983 when I first heard them was the story telling within their music.
Been a fan for over 40 years.
Bruce, in addition to being a one of the best vocalists and performers in metal, is an author and novelist, a screenwriter, a radio DJ, a TV presenter and producer, a commercial airline pilot flying Boeing 757 and 737, a successful Entrepreneur including building an aircraft maintenance company, a pilot training company, and a brewery. He's also a champion fencer that competed internationally amongst other talents.
The one problem with Maiden reactions, is NO ONE ever notices Steve Harris' bass.
Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera - Live at Download Festival 2013 🤘🏻🤘🏻 🔥
They are an incredible bunch of talented musicians. RIP Clive Burr ( Drummer ) on this video xx
Fear of the dark ( Rock in Rio ) is an epic live performance ! 🤘🏼😀
I've been an Iron Maiden metalhead since 1980. They have a massive catalog of songs that would take hours, if not days, to explore. They are the epidemy of heavy metal music.
Arguably one of the greatest bands of all time, or ever will be!
The more you listen, the more you'll love them.
I introduced my mother to Iron Maiden at age 65, it is one of her favorite bands now along with Unleash the Archers. She was sad she slept on these guys as long as she did, good to see you finding them earlier than she did.
Great reaction!!! As an Iron Maiden fan since high school in the early 80's, it was fun watching your reaction. IMO the greatest heavy metal band of all time. They have a ton of songs to explore and enjoy. Best to listen to them live in concert, especially in South America. Check out Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Fear of the Dark, Aces High, Run to the Hills, Number of the Beast, Phantom of the Opera live from Sweden. And so many more its hard to explain. Enjoy and Up the Irons!!
Great reaction and thanks for sharing. Iron Maiden is an incredible band. I have seen them in concert during 5 decades, 80's to present. Iron Maiden also did the soundtrack to the car racing wrecking game called Carmageddon. They generally don't write songs about your typical stuff. Most is written about history, movies, books or personal events. This song was written about the emotional/spiritual journey a man condemned to death goes thru in his personal relationship with a higher power. With the end of the song being the drums doing the kicking motion after a hanging. Other live songs worth hearing: 'Fear of the Dark' at Rock in Rio. Just a small crowd of 250,000 mostly non English speaking Brazilians showing how a crowd is supposed to physically and spiritually lift a band during a concert. Its jaw dropping and awe inspiring.
Other notable songs: Phantom of the Opera (not from the musical); Run to the Hills; Children of the Damned; The Prisoner; Number of the Beast; Still Life; Flight of Icarus; 22 Acacia Avenue; Revelations; 2 Minutes to Midnight; Rime of the Ancient Mariner; The Trooper; Power Slave; Stranger in a Strange Land; Alexander the Great; more recent songs: The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg; Dance of Death; For the Greater Good of God; Ghost of the Navigator; The Writing on the Wall recorded just a few years ago.
I came nowhere near listing all the great and amazing songs. Just listed a few off the top of my head.
Thanks for finding the rabbit hole that is Iron Maiden. In concert they are the best band I have ever heard. The musicianship is unmatched. Bruce's vocals even now as he is aging and surviving throat cancer are still top notch. Not the same as the 80's but still amazing. His crowd work is also unmatched.
Chris
Hey Stacey. I'm stoked that you liked this song and the band. This is the track I use to introduce someone to Iron Maiden. They do write shorter songs, but are really better known for their epics. The vocalist, Bruce Dickinson, attained his vocals and singing style from studying theatre as he performed in many theatrical plays throughout his educational years. During Iron Maiden concerts on specific songs, Bruce will even make a costume change and portray a character that the theme of the song centres around. He is also one of the rarest lead vocalists that can actually run around all over the stage, whilst still singing perfectly. He is only just starting to slow down a bit now at the age of 65. Most of the bands subject matter for their songs tends to be based on history, literature and the human psyche.
You need to add this song to your workout playlist! This is my favorite song, from my favorite Heavy Metal Band. Iron Maiden has been making great music for over 40-years. They are still touring! They are doing concerts in Fort Worth and San Antonio, TX this November. Check out their song, "Where Eagles Dare". UP THE IRONS!!!🤘😎🤘
This Drummer! Clive Burr god bless him!! what a performance xxxx
UP THE IRONS!!!!! Still carries the same energy some 40 years later. 🤘🏼
Iron Maiden if one of the very few bands that sopunds better live than in a studio. Keep it up Stacey! So many great songs 🤘
Let us make your year next. Trust us
FEAR OF THE DARK LIVE
FEAR OF THE DARK LIVE
FEAR OF THE DARK LIVE
Welcome to the family, I've been a Maiden fan for 40 years, they're still touring despite being in their 60s & 70s! And they still have this energy that most bands would kill for.
Good choice of song for your introduction. Check out Rime of the Ancient Mariner from 2008 tour, you won't be disappointed.
Great reaction.
#UpTheIrons 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
❤ Iron Maiden is listen to best watching their live show videos. Although the studio version is great you'll never get close to the live show. They are the standard that all bands should strive to be 😂
This is one of my top three favorite live video performances, along with Rush's Xanadu and Metallica's Enter Sandman in Moscow after the fall of the iron curtain.
Oh she has no idea what she stumbled upon 🤭
If you don't get goosebumps from this song, you are dead inside!
Knowing He's about to die, the five final stages of grief run through this man: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. At the end it's desperation....🤘
You had a big smile on your face for the most part of the song. The same smile most fans of Iron Maiden have for many years of listening their music. Welcome to the band.
Up the irons!
They are still touring and Bruce is even more theatrical now. He dons costumes for various songs. They just put out their 17th studio album last year.
Do The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Great song and a poem by the English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
Yes, but try live version first!
Blood Brothers would be amazing too
I bought my first Iron Maiden tape when I was 13 - in 1983 - I believe my current Iron Maiden Album/EP/Live/Box Set count is 67 recordings. Iron Maiden is literally the soundtrack to my life. I have seen them in the 80's, 90's, 2000's, 2010's - 4 seperate decades, looking to add 2020's to this for 5 decades. Their live shows are spiritual and balance my soul. Up the irons! 🤘
Iron Maiden are the GREATEST(live;)BAND in the world🤘
Up the mighty Irons🤘🤘
So glad I was a teen in the 80s. Gen X for life...we may be the forgotten generation but damn we had it good.
This was recorded at Hammersmith in London on 20th March 1982 as part of the tour to promote the album this song was on. The album was released 2 days later on 22nd March so it was a totally new song to the audience. The album was only recorded in the January/February so 8-10 weeks earlier. You said you could be listening to the studio version - this is very similar as this was only the 19th or 20th show of the tour since recording it.
Welcome to the Iron Maiden's Universe. I send a big hug from El Salvador.
I saw that show twice in 1982 in Cleveland Oh. Giving my age away. Iron Maiden was my favorite band growing up and they have only got better with time. Very unique metal band with great song writing and musicianship. You'll love them!
I saw the tour in Ipswich, England (I was 12) so you're not alone. Cheers.
Damn yr old. I wasnt old enough
Iron Maiden is incredible. I saw them on their Powerslaves tour in 1986 and then I took my three kids to see them when I saw them again on their Book of Souls tour in 2019. Unbelievably, they have not lost any of the energy they had back then from start to finish pure energy! Bruce’s voice has not lost anything unlike so many of the great singers from the 80’s. The entire band is wired tight and I can’t wait to see them again.
Welcome to the Maiden experience. I've been a Maiden fan since 81, and I still get chills listening to them. Up the Irons..! 🤘🤘🤘
these guys are just so tight live. the greatest band of all time in my opinion honestly. huge back catalogue. probably at least 40 absolute bangers and their first 7 albums are just perfection. their energy is my life force
Hey Stacey, welcome to the Iron Maiden rabbit hole !! I can't wait to see your reaction to Rime of the ancient mariner. I saw them in September of 2023 and yes they still have it. First time I saw them was this tour in 1982. Then a whole bunch of times in between. I'm glad your getting into them. Up the irons 🤘🤘🤘
Here we are! This is where the fun begins :) Up the Irons and heavy metal forever! Metallica, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are my favourite metal bands of all time ;) Enjoy Stacey :)
well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad (to quote Meat Loaf :) )
Black Sabbath.
"Alexander The Great" by Iron Maiden is even more epic masterpiece! If this song is classic heavy metal, then Alexander The Great is pure progressive! Strongly recommended! Just don't stop please, it'such a journey)
Check out fear of the dark too, great crowd participation. The trooper, wasted years, run to the hills, many many more.
They've chosen one of the clasics and most amazing songs of all metal history. Nice
best straight metal band ever. lead singer Bruce was the best singer of the 80's story tellers . remember this was just one song in this concert lol
🤘"Rime of the Ancient Mariner"🤘
strong suggestion: fear of the dark (Live At Rock In Rio)
Bruce Dickinson - an extremely talented multi-artist (look him up on Wiki). Without doubt still one of the best hard rock singers ever. And (maybe not now, but before :-)) a commercial airline pilot that flew the band's own Boeing 747... Hallowed Be Thy Name, Bruce. And of course the rest of the amazingly skilled band members.
A truly a Renaissance man!!! Sorry GOD!!!
One of the best British bands ever and their live content is unbelievable.
A beautiful gal opening her mind to the magic of Metal. This kind of thing, my friends, are what dreams are made of. 🤩🥰🤭
Look extremely forward to the journey, m'lady. 🤘☺️💜
Welcome to the best band in the world. Up the Irons!
My beloved band, album, performance, concert, energy, singer, guitar, bass, impeccable and unparalleled drums. Thank you, beautiful Stacey.
More recent live shows are even better, in my opinion. Watch "En Vivo!", recorded in Santiago in 2011: they play with masterful confidence, they have lots of FUN, the interaction with the audience is incredible, Bruce's energy and storytelling skills only got better over time. Not to mention his unbelievable fitness level! Any song will do, but I'd suggest "Fear Of The Dark" (one of their most famous songs), or "Dance Of Death" (possibly my personal favourite from that set).
“Rime of the ancient mariner” from live after death performance 1985 is an excellent video to react to imo.
I'm glad you finally got around to Maiden! I gave you a pretty long list of suggestions after you reacted to Sabaton. Maiden regularly uses history, mythology, literature, and movies as the basis for their songs. You should do "Fear of the Dark" from Rock in Rio next, or "The Trooper, " from En Vivo.
I've grown up with them...More Iron Maiden please. Iron Maiden - Blood Brothers...you will love it.
This is sooo good,I can't even believe someone can play and sing that well
I love Iron Maiden but haven’t had the pleasure of seeing them live. My father had in the 80’s and told me stories about Bruce during the show. He said that he was incredibly energetic the whole time. Running around and hopping on top of tall stacks of speakers like it was nothing.
On another note, if your curious to hear another version of this song, try watching the cover by Cradle of Filth (Black Metal) 🖤
This was a performance from early in their long career. If anything, they are even MORE energetic now!!
One of many Maiden masterpieces and my favorite track of theirs. This particular live version is top too!
Rime of the ancient mariner live performance......simply a masterpiece
First of all, thank you for reacting to my favorite rock band! Fan since 1983! (this video you've just watched was taken from a famous concert they performed one year before I get to know their amazing music).
Second, this was a nice reaction and you're smart enough to realize you got a long journey with Iron Maiden, for they're such an awesome band with many great hits.
If you want to get to know them better, I got some informations for you: nowadays, their drummer is such an amazing one - Nicko McBrain (R.I.P., Clive Burr!); they got no more 2, but 3 guitarists; they've just released a new album some years ago ("Senjutsu" - 2021) and they'll be on tour this year ("The Future Past Tour").
Basic informations: their leader is the bass guitarist, Steve Harris, one of the greatest EVER in Rock History! And, in my opinion, he is the best heavy metal songwriter!
He's been the composer of most of Maiden's songs.
The vocalist you enjoyed so much, Bruce Dickinson, composes some songs too, and he is graduated in History, PHD in Egyptology, and he is also a pilot, having driven many times the "Ed Force One", the plane Iron Maiden uses to travel from one country to the other one when they're on tour.
Regarding to your next Maiden's reaction...if you want to be surprised and get goosebumps once again, I got a perfect suggestion for you: "Rime of the ancient mariner" (based on a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge).
Some other fine suggestions: "Fear of the dark"; "Wasted years"; "The trooper"; "The number of the beast"; "Aces High"; "Infinite dreams"; "Stranger in a strange land"; and "The writing on the wall" from their latest album (the official music video).
Have a nice iron journey and...
Up the irons! 🤘
Iron Maiden is to me the best band ever! I also love Judas Priest, Queen, ACDC, Pink Floyd, Blind Guardian, Manowar and so many others, but Maiden is my number one. As a Teenager everything in my room was Iron Maiden. My holy grail two original tour Posters from World Slavery Tour 84 and World Piece Tour 83 I got from my uncle. ❤
it's never too late exploring one of the New Wave of Heavy Metal finders: Iron Maiden have tons of great songs !
Sweetie, I have seen iron maiden live. It's like watching a soccer match while they're playing the instruments and singing at the same time. That kind of energy. I can name forever songs. You need to check out first off. I dare you. Beautiful to listen to the whole album power slave. You could do the same thing with the number. The beastdalbum piece of mind, almum are my 3 favorite, but they've got great albums dating all the way up. To the present time bruce still sounds great in his seventhere will never be another iron maiden
you've started an epic journey
This is the greatest song ever made. I have listened to it at least once a week since I first heard it 18 years ago. It’s a part of me at this point…. 🤘
I’m not sure if its the music or lyrics that does it. But the emotion in the «Hallowed be thy name» at the end is just something else.
I'll have you know, they are still in activity to this day.
If you want to get blown away as much as this, I suggest the two golden live shows everyone should watch at least once:
Dance of Death from the "EN VIVO" live show
Rime of the Ancient Mariner from the "Flight 666" live show
And if you want some more energy, "The Trooper" from EN VIVO
Rush "Tom sawyer" is a classic hit
Wasted Years next!
Iron maiden is magic. It's like a insanely tastefull and heavy meal you're never fed up. That's how digestfull they are.
You picked a great song to start with. His range in this song is amazing. Lifelong Maiden fan and I always love seeing people discover Maiden.
Every once in awhile you come across a GREAT bass player. Once a decade you come across an EPIC bassist. Once in a life time you see a LEGENDARY bassist. Then....there is THE bass GOD...Steve Harris. Legend has it his mom had to have a C section when Steve was born as the bass wouldnt fit down the birth canal.
*Steve Harris
@@Warlock_UK fook...thats embarrassing
You'd love Ronny James Dio. Last in line.
Up the iron trevor i've been a maiden fan since they started
I saw them twice on this tour (Beast On The Road Tour) back in 1982. The first time they opened for the Scorpions then the second time they headlined. I still have my program.
Great concert. Saw that tour in Chicago. 🤘
If u loved Iron Maiden... u have to check out Judas Priest. They were the heavy metal band from the UK to modernize and streamline heavy metal in the 80's (they preceded Iron Maiden) and featured the insanely high vocals of Rob Halford, as well as the twin lead guitar attack of K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton.
Judas Priest song suggestions - 'Painkiller' ... 'Metal gods' ... "You've got another thing coming" ... 'Freewheel burning' ... 'Victim of changes' ... 'Breaking the law' ... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
You havent lived at your fullest until you've been at a metal gig in the middle of the crowd.
Maiden Rules
🤘😎🤘
Have seen them live 20+ times since 82’ and they just seem to get better! UP THE IRONS!
...all of that....and drop dead beautifull..... iron maiden is one of the oldes british band ever....you go girl! love ya!
Awesome reaction.
Phantom of the opera, trooper, aces high and wasted time 👍
Great that you picked up on the bass early on in the song. That's Steve Harris, one of the founding members of the band. His style of playing is very unique and drives most of the band's songs in such a way. His bass sound is iconic in the Metal World. It's usually very prominent in their sound mixes as you heard here. Don't know if other Maiden fans do this but I often play along with him with my Air Bass.
Oh, I should add that I've been a fan of the band since about 1988, when their 7th album came out. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. "Hallowed be thy Name" was on their 3rd album, 1982's "Number of the Beast."
"Phantom of the Opera" is NOT a cover of what you think it is. It's their own song from their 1980 self-titled debut album.
A song I think you should definitely check out is "The Red and the Black" from their 2015 album (and tour) "The Book of Souls." It's a long one at about 14 minutes, but it's got some great guitrar solos and harmonies that just showcase their talent.
Funny little fact abouf the band is that after their 1988 album "Seventh Son", their guitarist Adrian Smith left the band and Janick Gers replaced him. Then after the 1992 album and "Fear of the Dark" tour, the vocalist Bruce Dickinson left too to focus on acsolo career. However after putting out two albums with Blaze Bayley on vocals in the mid 90s, both Bruce and Adrian came back to the band for a new album in 2000 called "Brave New World." But instead of kicking Janick out, they kept him, and Maiden has had 3 guitarists ever since. Janick is a real pleasure to watch too. He's running and jumping on stage, but never misses the beat with his playing. The video for "The Red and the Black" (Live) shows him off pretty well.
good week-end to you . 😎👍 next one from Iron Maiden - Alexander the Great ( with lyric ) = good history lesson . 👍🎶
Bruce Dickinson is a Royal Airfoce Fighter pilot, flies his own Boing 747 for the band as well as co-owner of a airplane leasing company. I met him as i was leading his 747 modification several years ago in Everett Washington. Great singer and friggin intelligent as well. Got to be when your flying a fighter jet at 1400 MPH !
You have reacted to 2 of my all time favorite band and live bands. Pink Floyd and now Iron Maiden. Great reaction. Lots more from iron maiden. Rime of the Ancient Mariners is epic
