Rime of the Ancient Mariner from the Flight 666 DVD needs to be next! Please, please please trust me and do the Flight 666 version instead of the Rock in Rio version when you do this one.
Also, the Trooper is a pretty tough song for him to sing these days (it's a higher register), but he sounds great on most others!
Flight 666 is my favorite non-album version as well!
Second this a thousand times!
Paschendale (live version)
It's a thousand times better the Live After Death version. They were young, with all the energy, it was the tour to present the album that contains this song, Bruce with his voice at its maximum plenty. There's nothing to hit Live After Death with. Flight 666 is pure marketing.
Nooo live after version is the best one
Written by bassist and founding member Steve Harris, the song is based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854, which took place during the Crimean War and inspired by Lord Tennyson's poem of the same name.
Also, this is one of the songs that defines Iron Maiden's galloping style and one of the most iconic songs in the history of Rock and Metal. An anthem, a timeless masterpiece.
Rime of the Ancient Mariner and The Clansman are two epic songs from Iron Maiden and my personal favourites. A reaction to those would be great.
Welcome to the Iron Maiden family.
The 2nd best band ever.
@@robertmartin8565 dont say metallica please
@robertmartin8565 In your incorrect opinion, who is number one?!🤔
Saxon?
@@azzajames7661 Thanks for letting me have a opinion azza.
Following up with Iron Maiden, you may check out "Wasted Years", "Run To the Hills" or "Running Free", for example.
Ah, and even "Phantom of the Opera", too!
If you ever get the chance to see Maiden live, do so, the energy is off the charts.
I can confirm this 🧐
And they're not going to tour forever, so go while you have the chance!
You're absolutely right! When did you first see them?
@@jimmurphy7035 August 2010 at Knebworth, then a year later at the O2 in London.
I first saw them in 1984. World Slavery Tour. Twisted Sister opened up. I've seen a fair amount of bands. That's still the best show I've ever seen.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
“Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!” he said.
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
I'm from Chile and i was on this concert, one of the best in my life. Iron Maiden and Chile have a special relationship, this year they will play 2 nights on the bigest stadium on the country, the "Estadio Nacional", same stadium of this video.
In one of their tour-documentaries, when starting their Latin/Central/South America leg, one of the band member just said "Now it will get hotter the further south we go." about their crowds.
As a long-time European Maiden fan, I've seen a couple of amazing performances over the years... but I'd never dare to argue about this quote.
Iron Maiden are the GREATEST(live;)BAND in the world🤘
Up the mighty Irons!!!🤘🤘
Iron Maiden is one of the earlier metal gods. 🤘🤘
Iron Maiden has done several history-related songs. I would recommend "Aces High" (The Battle of Britain)", "The Longest Day" (D-Day), and my personal favorite, "Passchendaele" (The very, very bloody WWI battle).
This is my favourite Iron Maiden tune. The riff is so infectious.
Edit: I wrote this comment before I heard you use the word ‘infectious’. That is EXACTLY what what they are.
I will be seeing them in October. This will be my 19th time seeing them i have taken my 4 daughter's to see them over the years. Steve Harris is my number one all time musician. Its because of Maiden that I myself became a musician. I play the bass, guitar and drums. I met Steve Harris in the Crossroads mall in 1987 right before the concert. It was the Seventh son of the Seventh son tour. Guns and Roses opened for them. They only played 4 songs. Someone through a bottle at Axle Roads. Cut his face and left the show. A riot started and Iron Maiden's manager came out and said. Not worry about the show and, Iron Maiden would be putting on a show that you're never going to forget. They were right on that on. To this day it is my favorite concert. Iron Maiden has the best stage show I have ever seen. Not to mention how good they sound live. Thank you for dividing into the Maiden machine. You've only got 40 plus years, with over 200 million records sold worldwide. With their 17th studio album "The Writing on the wall". Check out the video The Writing on the Wall that was released two years ago. Up the Irons.
The name of the album is "Senjutsu." "The Writing on the Wall" was the lead single from the album.
@@marcgrote7540 thanks for that correction. I knew that but better she knows the right name of the album. Lol
Great performance.
I was in that show in Santiago, Chile.
That is the Power of Heavy Metal Music , as a 56 years old Metalhead is that normal Music
Great reaction! I was lucky to be attending that concert in Santiago, Chile. The crowd here is just the best for Iron Maiden. BTW, if you want a History lesson, react to Alexander The Great from the Somewhere in Time Album 😉
You won't be disappointed in seeing Iron Maiden... First time I saw them I travelled on a coach and the driver stopped nearly 2 miles away from the venue and I said why you stop here and he said I can't get closer it's Iron Maiden..😂
Up the Irons 🇬🇧🤘
dance of death, live performance in Chile is worth checking
Hi Stacey I’ve been a fan since they started in 1980. The trooper video has scenes from the Errol FLYNN film The Charge of the light Brigade. I met them after a concert in Cardiff in 2012. I ended up drinking into the early hours with Bruce Dave Adrian and Nicko they’re just great guys. Check out To Tame a Land (Dune), Where Eagles Dare Richard BURTON Clint EASTWOOD WAR FILM, ACES HIGH (Battle of Britain), Brighter Than Thousand Suns (OPPENHEIMER) Quest For Fire or the Epic Empire of the Clouds (R101 Airship tragedy in France) there are so many. You have a great channel Up the Irons x
A few years ago, they came to town and I took my brother-in-law, who is definitely NOT a metal fan. He was totally blown away and had a blast.
Considering they had little to no help from the mainstream media, it's SO impressive to see how many millions of albums they've sold, and the size of the venues they continue to sell out to this day! Nice business model if you can make it work for ya. It's a testament to their level of musicianship and what relatable guys they are!
Tere's a reason why Maiden fans have gone to multiple concerts in their lifetime. 6x for myself. And that's a small amount compared to many others. I hope you have a chance to catch them live.
Steve Harris, the bass player, is the only truly original member of the band and rarely gets the comments he deserves. He’s the leader of the band and the principal song writer.
Over 100mil records sold with virtually no radio play or mainstream promotion! Based 100% on musicianship, songwriting and an amazing live show! Definitely need to do a live version of Rime of the Ancient Mariner next! The Flight 666 version is excellent! It’s the closest thing Maiden has done to an opera!!
Hear them on radio all the time.
@@gamleskalle1 where and what station????
@@kennywilkus1632 Radio Rock in Norway.
@@gamleskalle1 knew it had to be in Europe!
@gamleskalle1 they get much more play now than when these songs were new. Mostly because of all the different stations that specialize in genres. When this song came out it was never played.
Alexander the Great is another great story/song.
Yes
That's such an epic song 🤘🏽😎
Plus
Fear Of The Dark
Two other Iron Maiden songs that I can immediately think of that are based on historical events are Empire of the Clouds & Paschendale.
Yes, absolutely!!!
Talking about the crowd, I saw them in a small club in Plymouth UK in 1980 in front of about 100 people! 2 of the band members was at the bar getting a drink before the gig... Couldn't do that now!!
🇬🇧 British flag
🏴 English flag
They will be coming to Chile again in November, I can't wait to see them again!
You will enjoy them live. Get there early, because you will meet interesting people from all different ages and walks of life. Fun fact... Scientific studies measuring people's intelligence against their favorite music has found that Maiden ranks somewhere between 1st and 3rd in overall intelligence along with Mozart. There also are never any fights or drunken boorish behavior. It is just a bunch of cool people gathering together to celebrate their fandom. Crowds in America are more reserved than they are in South America, but everyone still sings along and has a great time. (Of course, crowds in Japan are extremely reserved compared to American crowds. It is a culture thing.)
Can you give the scientific study?
Go go go! I saw them last fall and it does not disappoint! They still bring it!
I was like 9 years old in 1983 and my cousin played Iron Maiden for me in his room. I was hooked ever since. The sound from his stereo was like God talking to me! Felt that the first time I heard Metallica "And Justice for all" also. I am now 50 and still a HUGE fan. They are in Denver this summer and cant wait to see them! Love the Trooper (especially the live version from "Live after death"). Highly recommend that version/video from "Live After Death" to see early maiden with this song and when Eddy is on stage! Great choice and you cant go wrong with Maiden.
When my son was 10 he was playing Grand Theft Auto and this song came on, so I'm watching and rocking out. He pauses and says "mom, you don't know this song it new" 😂😂😂
Great reaction as always.
Iron maiden have always integrated historical material in their music and see themselves as history buffs.
I have been lucky to see them live and they always go above and beyond with their performances.
Definitely get those tickets you won't be disappointed.
Stacy, you have a pleasant voice :) Iron Maiden - Rime of the ancient mariner
Iron Maiden - Stranger in a strange land
Iron Maiden - 2 minutes to midnight.
Iron Maiden- Aces High Flight 666 is a good choice for a future reaction. It was the opening song of that tour and shows the amazing "explosion" of energy right from the start of the show. The video was also from their 2008 performance in Mumbai India and it's cool to see the reaction from the audience that apparently rarely get to see massive heavy metal bands live.
✌❤🎶🎶❤✌ Wasted Years is my favorite!✌
It would be cool to see you and your sister do a live VLOG from the Iron Maiden concert in Texas! They have sooo many good songs! Like others noted, their Rime of the Ancient Mariner video from Flight 666 would be a good one to check out next! UP THE IRONS!🤘😎🤘
A huge portion of Maiden's catalogue is inspired by historical events, war, religion, poetry and literature. They might not be highly educated like most people would think but they're all very book smart and really in tune with history and social happenings.
Fantastic reaction, thanks.👍
With many Iron Maiden songs you get an accurate history lesson.
The Trooper tells the account of a British soldier in the Battle of Balaklava during the Crimean War. Lord Cardigan led the British cavalry against Russian forces during this battle on 25 October 1854. Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions. However, there was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a suicide mission charging straight at heavy Russian artillery which cost the lives of around 300 British soldiers. Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote a poem to commemorate this disaster and he called it "The Charge of the Light Brigade".
The bronze that the recaptured guns were made from was used to make the Victoria Cross, a military medal of the very highest order that was awarded "for valour". Very few of these have ever been awarded, even to this day.
Other great Iron Maiden history lessons you could check out.... Run to the Hills, Alexander the Great, Paschendale and Empire of the Clouds.
I've been a Maiden fan since hearing their debut album on cassette in 1980 when I was 10 years old. I've seen them live every time they've played in London, their home ground and mine, and they never disappoint. Up the Irons!!!
7:09 you'd get chills just by watching any video of Doctor, Doctor (original song by UFO) made from the middle of the crowd...it's been the intro tape to their concerts for decades
Great reaction! I especially appreciate the after-talk when you dive a little deeper into the song and the band. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
YES THIS IS IRON MAIDEN'S MOST FAMOUS SONG OF ALL TIME ....I USED TO PLATY IT HIGH SCOOL I LOVED IT SO MUCH
They are all in their late sixties except the drummer who is 71! I saw them 2 years ago and they still tear up that stage. Up the Irons! 🤘😈🤘
You have to see them live! DO NOT MISS THE OPPORTUNITY!
I had the opportunity to see Bruce Dickinson in a fencing duel, which took place recently, April 24, 2024, in a square here in Curitiba (Brazil), in an event held by the Paraná Fencing Federation to encourage and promote the sport. In his youth he almost went to the Olympics for fencing!
In 1982 I went to a concert for the southern rock band.38 Special. I had 2nd row seats and the opening band was a group I had heard of but had never heard called Iron Maiden. My life was changed forever.
Phantom of the opera live at the Download festival 2013 was/is f**king Amazing still to this day.
There is such a women's group - Iron Maidens. The girls plays compositions from the repertoire of the original. And they burn it cool too.
YEEEAAAHHH!!! The Trooper is an insane song, I love it so much! I could listen to it no repeat and I'd never get tired of it!!
If there's a group/artist you should watch live (while you can) it's defenitively Iron Maiden. To this day, they're one of the best bands ever to perform live.
Regardless of their current age, and we know it's not the same thing as when they were younger, it's an absolute must to experience these men's art!!!
I’ve seen Maiden 6 times and they never disappoint, they’ve been my favourite band since I was 14 I’m now 42. Bruce’s solo career is amazing too, you should definitely react to that as well!
The crowd is one family. All are welcome. You HAVE to go to a show before it’s too late! I have been 7 times, going on 8 this year, you never feel so connected and one in humanity as at a maiden show. They sing about folklore, history, mythology, philosophy and of mysticism. It is a purely epic experience and never forgettable. Just wait until you see the Eddies on stage! UP THE IRONS!
When I first heard this song, it was really good because I was doing my GCSE english literature and it really helped me out because it’s inspired by the epic poem the charge of the light brigade by Lord Alfred Tennyson so it helped me get all of the details into my memory.
What does This button do ? It is a title of Bruce's autobiography . I recommend you to read it . What a man he is !
Thanks for another amazing reaction. Love how you're going all in on Iron Maiden. Can't wait for the next reaction. Catch you on Twitch. Have a great day and UP THE IRONS.
Alexander the Great is another epic song and Bruce actually raps in it! yes like straight gangster rap, Ill get crap for saying that from the maiden fans but you’ll hear it in the second verse I think
Of all bands i have seen in my life and there are over 200 bands i have seen live and no small ones either, but no audience beats Iron Maidens fans.
It's wild the energy that the crowd inhabit is also something ya just cant but love, being in the crowd of an Iron Maiden concert is a truly magical experience.
Iron Maiden is also the reason why i started my musical journey and why i started to learn to play the guitar (25 years in the making now) :)
You will not regret watching them Live.
Rock in Rio DVD 2001 has an amazing audience as well. More than 200.000 people were there, and I was one of them.
They are in tour... keep listening and go see them... my show is in November over here in NY
I'm going to see Bruce on his solo tour in a coupe of weeks. I cant wait, he is sounding so amazing at the moment. You should do a reaction to a Bruce solo song, like Tears Of The Dragon (live)
Niko the drummer has his drum set of Every album they have done since joining them. I saw them in Buffalo, NY and it's Very Loud and the crowd sings with them
One of their songs that is too often forgotten and yet fantastic, especially live, is Seventh son of a seventh son.
Seen them LIVE last year... And trust me, they "HAVE NOT" lost anything. Bruce has the powerful voice still, and the band doesn't miss a note track after track !!!
First time i saw Iron Maiden , they supported KISS , it was in the 80`s 🙂
Sure you did
The fact that Bruce flys their 747 touring plane that carries all of their gear and crew.. It is absolutely insane and so cool. Talk about having trust in your singer🔥👍🏼
Absolutely love Iron Maiden
Find yourself 2hrs in your day, settle down and watch the Flight 666 documentary, it will really introduce you to how hard this band works, how down to earth they all are and how amazing the tour was, and yes Bruce flying the band around the world in a custom paint job Boeing 737! Just awesome. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge) did a great acoustic version of The Trooper during Lockdown from his home. Soooo good 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Next on the MUST see list is Iron Maiden - The Clansman (live at rock in rio '01)
Over a 30 years ago as a teenager I listened this cassette (Maiden-Piece of Mind) over and over again. One of the songs is and were The Trooper.
Oh those memories...
There's a lot to listen from Maiden. Suggestion:
The Wicker Man-live in Rock in Rio 2001. The definition of heavy metal!
Iron Maiden audiences are always great, particularly in South America. For another amazing audience check out anything from AC/DC Live at River Plate, e.g. Thunderstruck. Sometimes it looks like the whole stadium is moving.
For more Iron Maiden, must be time from Rime of the Ancient Mariner!
Been watching channel a while. Ur love for Iron Maiden is what brought me here. Keep up gud work Stacey!
Love your genuine reaction! You should do run to the hills from the rock in Rio concert! The crowd is even bigger and of course it’s an EPIC PERFORMANCE
Every Maiden live audience are great. Always loud, always singing along, always a great time. Maiden fans love our band, and have for as long as the band has existed.
Wow, this is going to be your first concert! This is their best concert since Somewhere in time. Enjoy
They are going on tour.. I cant wait. Get yourself some tickets.
The Trooper was the first song I learned to play from them when I was a teenager 😄 Next cool song would be "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" the live version.
Cat is showing his back to you that is a measure of love...different than dogs but still love.
Latin America loves them some Maiden! Love their crowds!
BTW, I'd like to point out that Nicko rarely gets the love he deserves. 99% of metal bands out there have double kicks, but not Nicko. His fills are brilliant! Part of the reason they have such a unique sound. ❤ for Nicko! His predecessor, Clive Burr was also amazing (R.I.P).
I can't imagine how hot Bruce must have been in that coat.
If you want to see Bruce at his absolute best, I'd recommend 'The Talisman' from the En Vivo! live album. This is not one of their more popular songs, but he delivers the performance of a lifetime with what is obviously an incredibly challenging song for him. You can tell because the normally hyperactive Bruce sings the entire song rooted to one spot like a tree trunk.
Well better late than never you are rapidly becoming an Iron Maiden superfan. You should check out Rime of the ancient Mariner it is a masterpiece. Up the Irons 🤘
My wife and i’s first date was Iron Maiden back in 1985. We had meet at a honky tonk. Little did she know what she was getting into. lol
The Battle of Balaklava was fought on 25 October 1854 between the Russian army and a Franco-British-Ottoman coalition. The latter besieged the city of Sevastopol during the Crimean War. The battle ended without any real victor.
I've read texts written by two friends who lived in London and Manchester at the time about this war (1853-1856). They are very well known. Who are these two men?
Are you kidding! History is there specialty! There dam near History professors. Don't just talk the talk, get the tickets already, that is if it's not sold out. Oct 24 in Philly! There like a drug that you can't get enough of. We love them all! Get the TICKETS!! 👏💪☝️🤘
God, Maiden fckin rule…what an insanely great band. Love em!
Dear Stacey, congratulations for your reaction, so lovely as you, and thanks for bringing my favorite rock band once again!
Answering your questions, yes, there's a better crowd than this: the brazilian one!
I know 'cause I'm one of them! 😅 I'll be there specially if you react to any of their performances in Rock in Rio 2021 and 2022!
My tickets are already bought to their concert at São Paulo, Brasil, on december.
And do you know one of the main reasons why they've got a lot of songs diving into History?
Because Bruce is not "only" a cancer survivor and a pilot, but also...graduated in History!
Although Steve Harris (the bass guitarist, "leader of the pack") wrote most of Maiden's songs, Bruce wrote some of IM's hits.
Notice that not all of their songs are heavy, one of them is a ballad: "Wasting love".
So, I got some other suggestions of their hits for you to react to: "Rime of the ancient mariner" (based on a poem); "Flight of Icarus"; "Aces High"; "Powerslave"; "The clansman"; "Phantom of the opera"; "Infinite dreams"; "Wasted years"; "The writing on the wall" (this one is from their latest album - "Senjutsu" - 2021).
Welcome to the Maiden's family and... up the irons! 🤘
Go Light Brigade! Go Iron Maiden! Go Bruce! Go Stacey! Very good reaction to my favourite Maiden-song. If you want another history-lesson by Maiden, I recommend "Aces High". Up the Irons!
YES!!! The boys are back, Thank-you Stace, it's why they have been a part of my life, Love that you enjoy them as much😁, they are one of a kind, Take care, til next one😄😄,( BTW any Maiden song is worth it😃)
UP THE IRONS!
If you like Iron Maiden, I would like to suggest that you might like Japanese metal band Lovebites. Maiden are one of the bands from the British and European rock/metal scene in the 70's/80's/90's that are a big influence for them. I have been a fan of the genre right from its beginning and discovering Lovebites for me revived an interest that had been fading during the 2000's. I was not finding anything from more recent bands that I could relate to. Lovebites changed all that, and I regard them as one of the best bands I have ever heard. In this my 75th year, I am going to London to see them play live.
Maiden rules! I am a rock guitarist and can attest to their talent!
You should really check out some of the older clips as well. The song "Infinite Dreams" live in 1988 is a fantastic capture of Maiden in their creative peak
I've been a fan of maiden since I was a kid (I'm 52 now) these are my childhood and still are a big part of me now too... I'm loving seeing the passion you have for them, they're are so so many great maiden songs, but, and as your a history buff, I can't wait to see your reactions to rime of the ancient mariner, and paschendale (love version of both) the light show on paschendale is ...well... Go look and see!!!
Love how excited you are when listening to them. 😊 Maiden is my favorite band. There are so many songs from them for you to check out. Keep it going. 😉 🤘🤘🤘
That head bob 😂 I do that when I play Maiden in guitar 😂
The Trooper is so good Bruce named his beer after it 🍻😉
Maiden! Maiden! Maiden! Up the Irons! Every song is worth listening to. I vote for "Wasted Years" next.
It’s definitely worth the cash to see them
Live. Only issue, your first show should be a greatest hits set list, but what they are doing is a special tour for hardcore maiden nerds playing songs from their somewhere in time record and deep cuts off the new record. Still some classics in the set though. So very worth a ticket
Your reactions are too cozy , I love it!❤
