Yeah, got my Commander in 9mm and nickel finish for below $400. Was I expecting it to be perfect out of the box? No. Like most modern 1911s, I needed to work on the extractor and I want some sights that are better than GI. Still way less than a Colt that comes with similar issues. I love it.
Just purchased one used for $440, 200 rnds, accurate, 100% reliable and fired 4 different hollow points, and 2 different FMJ. I am 65 years old and can tell you this gun is way better than series 70 colts I bought in the eighties and nineties. Those guns had to have buff and polish jobs to function with anything other than FMJ ball. owned about eight of them, also a police supply, gun dealer and have owned Detonics, AMT, Taurus, etc. 1911's. It's obvious this guy was nitpicking and wants to dislike the gun. As a gunsmith I have run across the slide stop issue in 1911's and many times it was caused by improper reassembly of the firearm. when replacing the slide stop the owner didn't get the slide stop through the barrel link, this caused friction on the slide stop causing the slide stop to rotate. Another sign of this was metal shavings from the bullet spitting back from the ejection port as the barrel is misaligned. I also noticed when this was the case that the slide stop was hard to snap in and had excessive wear on the rear face where it was rubbing on the pin. As far as the sights, with my poor eyesight I was able to hit a 1" dot at 7 yards if I focused and at that distance rapid fire keep all shots in a sub 3" group. Besides, any serious gunner will change the sights to tritium for lowlight situations. I already did and the sights from major manufacturer were less than $70. That being said, high dollar guns such as sig, glock, etc, all occasionally have issues and in some cases are endemic to the model and have to be fixed. I will fire another 800 rounds through the pistol and if it doesn't malfunction will place it in my defensive arsenal, along with my firearms that have fired thousands of rounds and never malfunctioned such as the G19.
Mine has a major failure to feed. SDS/ Tisas customer service sucks, out in for warranty work, still no response from them. Sounds like you have a good one, my is a POS!
Recently picked one up, had my local 83 year old gunsmith (Yes age 83) do some minor trigger work. He's been taking apart 1911s since the 70s and he was highly impressed with this firearm. The internals were clean with no burs or rough machining marks. He was impressed with this company. I did also notice the safety engages to easily. Also the grip screws seem to keep loosening up .
Truth be told I think the screws backing out are a problem inherent with all modern production runs of the 1911. I've seen it happen on Kimbers and Colts more times than I care to admit.
yeah I wouldn't talk much smack about the screws, if they don't have a rubber o-ring or loctite it's gonna happen and that's universal across 1911s. For what we're paying I can forgive them for cutting costs by not loctiting the screws from the factory.
As far as I can see the only legit complaints are about mat surface on sights and a little bevel issue! Looks like a great gun for the price and if it’s accuracy is anything like the rest of their guns it should be an exceptional shooter!
I grabbed one of these when it went live as well. I am a 1911 fan but as I got older I stopped carrying them but still loved the looks. Only issues I had were the crap magazines. I grabbed a couple Wilson mags, some ACT mags and it functioned flawlessly from that point on. Also, about 1000rds now without cleaning or adding any additional lube since my strip clean with zero malfunctions I do plan to change the hammer and trigger out but so far so good.
"HRFunk" channel did a new, 250 round, 600 round and 1,000 round reviews of this 1911 and loved it. The only Tisas 1911 I have is the WWII reproduction, and I think it is great. These Tisas 1911's are good quality and worth way more than they cost.
I did a tutorial on it but yeah I had to replace my plunger spring too. Talking to other Tisas Raider owners, the Plunger spring seems to be a mixed bag of it is either just good enough or its a no go. It was a no go for me because I wanted something that felt similar to my Springfield 1911, so I replaced the Tisas Plunger Spring with a Wilson Combat.
I thought long and hard(there's a joke in here ...someplace!) about getting one of those tissas(whatever)..they had a couple at my local gun shop. they also had a bunch of "over runs" MIL SPEC'S FROM Springfield Armory in stainless steel for a little north of 600$ bucks. it's tight as a nun"s c--t (rhymes with bunt, supposed to be a joke in here!!) great trigger AND it keep's my 1915 "1911 "company in the gun cabinet. I stumbled into your web site by accident, like your style so I am now subscribed. looking forward to your next video.
I love mine. Never have had a problem with it. Well over 1600 rds run through it. Pretty much run every type of 45 acp round and never a miss feed or jam. Keep in mind. This is not a High priced 1911. But mine ran really good right out the box. And I have no need to buy another 1911.
When I bought my Tisas Stainless 1911 Carry , I had low expectations. Had a few failure to feed in the beginning, but went away after around 200 rounds. Overall excellent firearm.
I must admit I own 6 different 1911s I love them all but I bought a rock island for just a knock around kit gun to gunsmith myself and Learn the art on. It’s now somehow my favorite out of every other one I own. It’s beat up very bad and gets more trigger time than any other gun I have. I love it so much because I can abuse it and not really care about breaking it as I’ll just buy what ever part needed and fit it up. I might have to get one of these tisas ones now 😂
My Tisas commander carry 9mm has a bit of a heavy trigger with felt recoil through the grip safety. Unusual for a 1911, but the price definitely is attractive. That being said, you may have to change some things (part replacement), to make it into what you want.
Yup, my bantam had that same issue with the safety plunger spring. The slide would lock back when I still had rounds in the mag. I changed it out with a Wilson Combat and she now runs flawless. Safety engagement/disengagement is a lot better too.
I remember colt 1911s going for 5-6 hundred dollars. But those were hard dollars to get. My grandfather remembered 12.50 … miss the old polished blue. Everything is painted nowadays.
Definitely get a Wilson 1911 spring kit, 316G, $13 it's a no-brainer And it's a lot smoother and on the dual springs, The guide pin comes plastic from Colt, I had one on my Delta Elite 10mm and I shipped it to Nighthawk in Arkansas and that was the first thing Dan said remove and put a spring from wolff 42118, also did a front checkering job on the grip, I'm also in New Boston, up by Texarkana
@@TheReaganCole The dual spring is easy to get, but the reduced diameter guide rod that fits inside the small center spring has been out of stock for over a year at Brownells, and nobody else has one that I can source.
@lynch642 I'm sort of new to the 1911 scene but I did buy a Ruger SR1911 about 5 years ago and after about 200 rounds the grip safety no longer works as designed but my main question is does the Wilson 1911 spring kit 316G for $13 work in any and all 1911s? I am trying to get extra parts for each of my guns and I have most of my guns covered but I slacked off on 1911 parts after I became a little disgusted when the grip safety on my SR1911 failed even though I know some people pin their grip safeties I want mine to work as designed Any other small parts kits that you would recommend that a 1911 should have laying around just in case as in recoil springs, pins or?
@@philyamascunt7518 I’d say any gun that isn’t already running their springs would benefit from it. Sounds like the flat spring in your SR model needs tuning… but I’d replace it first. Too cheap to chance it.
I have several 1911's, among them, a Tisas Duty. Installed a Valkyrie Dinamics supressor, Cocobolo grips, and full magwell. She's as good as the others. Only regret is why did I spent twice for the others. Also, as with ANY 1911, don't skimp on the mags. Simple
I just picked up a colt 1911 series 70 model 0 brand new,1400.00 I love it fit a finish is gorgeous,trigger is great,match internals,loading ramp already polish just blued,you get what you pay for
I just bought an RIA msrp $599 and I paid $345 in the store, Bargain! It shoots and performs as well as my Colt Government that I paid $900 for year ago. No malfunctions at all. I did change out the full length guide rod.
Great video...before I even shot mine I noticed the plunger spring was too light and replaced it. It was the only issue I had. Its been flawless for me so far at 400 rounds. Awesome gun.
I feel like buying a cheap 1911 from a foreign country really is a big gamble. So I bought a couple of Ruger SR1911's. I had to send the 9mm 1911 back to Ruger for failure to go into battery. They replaced the extractor and "repaired" the slide. Maybe it had a burr on it? After I got it back I shot 150 rounds and it ran flawlessly. The pair of 45 Auto's ran perfect except when using the junk Norma ammo. Federal hardball runs best.
I have 2 Tisas 1911s, an M45 carry, and a 9 mm light carry stingray I believe it’s called, both have non bezeled safeties on left hand side, they are both very good quality for the price, better than much more expensive Colt these days, I do wish they were checkered on the front strap.
I personally believe a 1911 doesn't need a ambi safety because when I shoot a 1911 left handed I have trained using regular 1911s and my thumb can already access a standard safety pretty good
I’ve got three 1911’s by Tisas and my ambi safety’s aren’t like that on the right side, shooting left handed. I don’t have the Raider, maybe it’s just on that model. As far as the sights, change them out I guess. I’ve got some high end pistols and that’s the first thing I did on them. I think Tisas is a deal for a forged steel gun. I just can’t go with a plastic pistol, not me .
I do not carry this one. I carry a TRP Operator. Any handgun that I’m going to carry has to have quite a few rounds thru it with no malfunctions for me to go that route.
I’ve said it before. Imma sucker for the peanut buttah! When Colt rolled out the USMC roll marked civi commemorative version I almost ponied up the 3k to get one I liked the look that much - Had I known the Marines would sue Colt for copyright infringement for having that rollmark making those pistols über rare. Would have been a great investment - but unfortunately that ship had sailed. Os so I thought - In comes the Tisas Clone Wars and big jar of PB&J. Have a 9mm waiting at the FFLs just now and maybe it’s the recall Tisas announced or what, but latest street price is 417!!! Thats crazy!
There are a few videos and articles on the issues that the MC had with the first pistols from Colt. Cracked slides, coatings wearing off prematurely, and some other issues. The MC cancelled the rest of the contract at one point.
I picked up the 9mm duty with a rail. For just over $350 it’s tough to beat. I did put warren tac sights. It was a huge improvement. So far it runs great

Is no one still talking about the feed ramp angles on these? For everyone running into feed-way stoppages with ammo other than FMJ, look at the feed ramp angle.
@@alanmeyers3957 I wouldn’t go that far, Having cut up many a colts and spent hours trying to straighten their lines, I can say that the consistency of Tisas frames, slides, and barrels, which are all forged, is better than Colt out of the box for a third the money.
I’m not sure. I picked up their 9mm stingray, and it seems fine. The lack of beveling on the ambi safety seems to be present with all their equipped models that I’ve handled
Actually as a base gun to work on these things aren't that great, for one thing they come from the factory only working with the disconnect her that comes with the gun, trying to use an actual inspect disconnector from Wilson, egw or really anywhere doesn't work and leaves it pretty big gap between the trigger bow and the bottom of the disconnect. I know because I tried seven different disc connectors and all of them have the same result. On top of that the plunger tube pins are also not in spect, so you can't replace the pins on this with anything but Factory pins as well. And last but not least you can only use Factory grip safeties because, you guessed it, not inspect with an actual 1911, tried Wilson, EGW and Smith and Alexander, which are all three of the 220 radius grips on the market, and none of them would work right in this gun even after substantial effort to fit them. They aren't bad for what they are and you can change out the hammer, sear I know that. So you have a lot of sight options, anything else though you ain't going to change so don't go thinking you've got a frame and slide you can turn into a builder Beauty, you can't
Mine has 3750 rounds of my reloads and 2K of factory ammo with wilson’s 47d’s and no problems at all! Looks like you use a microscope to look for problems…
So I’ve watched a few videos on these guns I think you might have just got a Lemon 🍋 out of a box 📦 of Oranges 🍊 I used to work in a factory 🏭 and my dad works at another one and we both talked about stuff that was we found that almost made it out the door so many things get made and they look 100% to spec but are only 96% to spec if not less at least the the problems you have are fixable If I do end up getting this gun I’m just going to treat it as a beater gun like a Glove box back up for my car or bring it Kayaking if a Gator 🐊 try’s to mess with me Maybe bring it hunting in case I run into snakes or hogs And if parts do brake it’s a good enough peace of steal to put Wilson Combat parts into it But I don’t know if I’m going to buy this awhile Springfield has 1911’s that are the same price as this one at my local shop because where I live this gun is not $600 it’s $730
Did you have the plunger spring/malfunction issue? Some people consider that a “gripe” apparently… ya know… when the gun doesn’t work out of the box. I’m hoping that’s a small run of their pistols, but I’ve heard it’s happened to several people on here.
@@TheReaganCole I actually beveled the ambi safety also. My plunger spring didn't cause any issues; but I immediately disassembled mine after a short rang trip. It functioned flawless for 100 rounds, but my glove was being eaten by that safety. I figured I'd dust off the brain and try some time with mine. I immediately added a very slight disconnector ramp. Not as severe as some would think; just enough to prevent premature disconnector wear and the slide smack. I also dug up my jigs for slide-to-frame fit. I then fit the beavertail to the frame better. The right side was slightly off. My magazine retention spring was *STIFF* and needed to be worked. I initially replaced the mainspring housing with another one I really liked, but the wife wanted it on hers... So back to stock... I also took some sandpaper, and one of my files to the rear sight. I used some of the matte-black ceramic paint on it. The same I had to touch up the beavertail and safety. I was going to wait until I added a 40 Line-Per-Inch checkering to the front but I misplaced some of my file set. Once I finish a few other projects; I'm going to order the missing files and yet another set of G10 grips. Besides that, it is a win. Mine was one that came with the new titanium firing pin. I am very pleased with it for the money. Highly recommended.

no one buys a 1911 because they NEEED a gun asap. for that u get a glock or something as reliable....when you get a 1911 its because u want something to mess around with and shoot. if they made a double stacked 1911 or made it a 12 rounder i could see it being main EDC but chances are ull get a glock 9mm or 45 with 15 to 14 rounds in it. So if ur gunna get a 1911....GET A 1911! dont cheap out and get polymer triggers or slide locks that jam the slide when ur shooting....thats insane. get a 1100$ 1911 or an original 1911 from the army. and dont put lights on it when u go to the range. IF anything u should put a beefy arse laser on it and sight it in for 10 to 15m.
watch factory video and see their made far better then most American farms out parts Tisas is all under roof perfect just because American made doesn't mean perfect and price for that is like a harley ,,not so good and priced way over what should be. ex 82nd issued 1911 just change that mag and its perfect
My son just bought the Tanker model (Commander size). First 100 rounds of 230 gr. FMJ went ok, had 2 stovepipes and a couple other problems. All things considered, they are cobish. Better to save a little more money snd get a real 1911. You can pay me now, or you can pay me later.
I'm in agreement on the Manual Safety Spring...Go the Wilson Combat route and don't look back. Operating Spring and Guide Rod were two other No Brainers from the get go. .Internally....I had one Huge defect and that was a huge Burr on the Barrel Link that prevent a smooth free swing toward the Muzzle End.. again. A reach into the 1911 Toy Box solved that. The Sights are something I'm going to be mindfull about. My shooting to date has all bee indoors , so No scorching sun reflecting off a Glossy oversight. The Tisas Raider for its price is a huge Win...it certainly beats the heck out of its Turkish Cousin from Girsan in a simular configuration and color scheme. I know. I have both and only slightly regret the Girsan purchase.
Tisas as a company SUCKS! Their customer service is non does not respond. Need warranty work on my NEW Raider, quick to send a form, sent it back, no mailing label sent. They are snotty and say "hold on we are busy with recalls!" Now ghosting me after 4 weeks.. I own 2, the cheap Service Special .45 acp fine, Raider wish I could get my money back and dump it!

Same here with the safety being super easy and that is the only complaint I have about mine.

If 10-8 taught me anything, its that every single modern production 1911 comes with incorrect springs or an extractor that needs to be re-tuned.

I just picked up a colt 1911 series 70 model 0 brand new,1400.00 I love it fit a finish is gorgeous,trigger is great,match internals,loading ramp already polish just blued,you get what you pay for
I just bought an RIA msrp $599 and I paid $345 in the store, Bargain! It shoots and performs as well as my Colt Government that I paid $900 for year ago. No malfunctions at all. I did change out the full length guide rod.

Great video...before I even shot mine I noticed the plunger spring was too light and replaced it. It was the only issue I had. Its been flawless for me so far at 400 rounds. Awesome gun.
I feel like buying a cheap 1911 from a foreign country really is a big gamble. So I bought a couple of Ruger SR1911's. I had to send the 9mm 1911 back to Ruger for failure to go into battery. They replaced the extractor and "repaired" the slide. Maybe it had a burr on it? After I got it back I shot 150 rounds and it ran flawlessly. The pair of 45 Auto's ran perfect except when using the junk Norma ammo. Federal hardball runs best.
I have 2 Tisas 1911s, an M45 carry, and a 9 mm light carry stingray I believe it’s called, both have non bezeled safeties on left hand side, they are both very good quality for the price, better than much more expensive Colt these days, I do wish they were checkered on the front strap.

I personally believe a 1911 doesn't need a ambi safety because when I shoot a 1911 left handed I have trained using regular 1911s and my thumb can already access a standard safety pretty good

Seems like everybody is replacing the plunger spring with the Wilson Combat spring, including myself with mine.
Love mine but grip screws came loose constantly. Loc tite and they stay now
I’ve got three 1911’s by Tisas and my ambi safety’s aren’t like that on the right side, shooting left handed. I don’t have the Raider, maybe it’s just on that model. As far as the sights, change them out I guess. I’ve got some high end pistols and that’s the first thing I did on them.
I think Tisas is a deal for a forged steel gun. I just can’t go with a plastic pistol, not me .
its like anything you buy check it out you may do a lot and it may only need mags, guide rod or sights being fixed

I’ve said it before. Imma sucker for the peanut buttah! When Colt rolled out the USMC roll marked civi commemorative version I almost ponied up the 3k to get one I liked the look that much - Had I known the Marines would sue Colt for copyright infringement for having that rollmark making those pistols über rare. Would have been a great investment - but unfortunately that ship had sailed. Os so I thought - In comes the Tisas Clone Wars and big jar of PB&J. Have a 9mm waiting at the FFLs just now and maybe it’s the recall Tisas announced or what, but latest street price is 417!!! Thats crazy!

There are a few videos and articles on the issues that the MC had with the first pistols from Colt. Cracked slides, coatings wearing off prematurely, and some other issues. The MC cancelled the rest of the contract at one point.
Does it have a barrel feed ramp?
Just the normal one in a .45 ACP 5” gun. Not the fully ramped like in a 9mm

Yes. I had it re cerakoted. Or spray paint does the trick also.
@ganCole OK, I see. The right side safety comes out easy if you take the grip off. Then you can bevel and repaint just that safety and put it back in.
I picked up the 9mm duty with a rail. For just over $350 it’s tough to beat. I did put warren tac sights. It was a huge improvement. So far it runs great

Tisas uses tool steel internals. No reason to gut a Tisas. There are no MIM parts on their 1911s.
They are crap, what makes them appealing is that they look like a popular gun that costs 3 times as much.

For everyone running into feed-way stoppages with ammo other than FMJ, look at the feed ramp angle.
The whole gun is trash, people like them because they can’t find or afford the Colt and these look cool!
@@alanmeyers3957 I wouldn’t go that far, Having cut up many a colts and spent hours trying to straighten their lines, I can say that the consistency of Tisas frames, slides, and barrels, which are all forged, is better than Colt out of the box for a third the money.

I’m not sure. I picked up their 9mm stingray, and it seems fine. The lack of beveling on the ambi safety seems to be present with all their equipped models that I’ve handled
Actually as a base gun to work on these things aren't that great, for one thing they come from the factory only working with the disconnect her that comes with the gun, trying to use an actual inspect disconnector from Wilson, egw or really anywhere doesn't work and leaves it pretty big gap between the trigger bow and the bottom of the disconnect. I know because I tried seven different disc connectors and all of them have the same result. On top of that the plunger tube pins are also not in spect, so you can't replace the pins on this with anything but Factory pins as well. And last but not least you can only use Factory grip safeties because, you guessed it, not inspect with an actual 1911, tried Wilson, EGW and Smith and Alexander, which are all three of the 220 radius grips on the market, and none of them would work right in this gun even after substantial effort to fit them.
They aren't bad for what they are and you can change out the hammer, sear I know that. So you have a lot of sight options, anything else though you ain't going to change so don't go thinking you've got a frame and slide you can turn into a builder Beauty, you can't

So I’ve watched a few videos on these guns I think you might have just got a Lemon 🍋 out of a box 📦 of Oranges 🍊
I used to work in a factory 🏭 and my dad works at another one and we both talked about stuff that was we found that almost made it out the door so many things get made and they look 100% to spec but are only 96% to spec if not less at least the the problems you have are fixable
If I do end up getting this gun I’m just going to treat it as a beater gun like a Glove box back up for my car or bring it Kayaking if a Gator 🐊 try’s to mess with me
Maybe bring it hunting in case I run into snakes or hogs
And if parts do brake it’s a good enough peace of steal to put Wilson Combat parts into it
But I don’t know if I’m going to buy this awhile Springfield has 1911’s that are the same price as this one at my local shop because where I live this gun is not $600 it’s $730

Some people consider that a “gripe” apparently… ya know… when the gun doesn’t work out of the box.
I’m hoping that’s a small run of their pistols, but I’ve heard it’s happened to several people on here.
@@TheReaganCole I actually beveled the ambi safety also. My plunger spring didn't cause any issues; but I immediately disassembled mine after a short rang trip. It functioned flawless for 100 rounds, but my glove was being eaten by that safety. I figured I'd dust off the brain and try some time with mine.
I immediately added a very slight disconnector ramp. Not as severe as some would think; just enough to prevent premature disconnector wear and the slide smack. I also dug up my jigs for slide-to-frame fit. I then fit the beavertail to the frame better. The right side was slightly off. My magazine retention spring was *STIFF* and needed to be worked.
I initially replaced the mainspring housing with another one I really liked, but the wife wanted it on hers... So back to stock...
I also took some sandpaper, and one of my files to the rear sight. I used some of the matte-black ceramic paint on it. The same I had to touch up the beavertail and safety. I was going to wait until I added a 40 Line-Per-Inch checkering to the front but I misplaced some of my file set.
Once I finish a few other projects; I'm going to order the missing files and yet another set of G10 grips. Besides that, it is a win. Mine was one that came with the new titanium firing pin. I am very pleased with it for the money. Highly recommended.

no one buys a 1911 because they NEEED a gun asap. for that u get a glock or something as reliable....when you get a 1911 its because u want something to mess around with and shoot. if they made a double stacked 1911 or made it a 12 rounder i could see it being main EDC but chances are ull get a glock 9mm or 45 with 15 to 14 rounds in it. So if ur gunna get a 1911....GET A 1911! dont cheap out and get polymer triggers or slide locks that jam the slide when ur shooting....thats insane. get a 1100$ 1911 or an original 1911 from the army. and dont put lights on it when u go to the range. IF anything u should put a beefy arse laser on it and sight it in for 10 to 15m.

My son just bought the Tanker model (Commander size). First 100 rounds of 230 gr. FMJ went ok, had 2 stovepipes and a couple other problems. All things considered, they are cobish. Better to save a little more money snd get a real 1911. You can pay me now, or you can pay me later.

I'm in agreement on the Manual Safety Spring...Go the Wilson Combat route and don't look back.
Operating Spring and Guide Rod were two other No Brainers from the get go.
.Internally....I had one Huge defect and that was a huge Burr on the Barrel Link that prevent a smooth free swing toward the Muzzle End.. again. A reach into the 1911 Toy Box solved that.
The Sights are something I'm going to be mindfull about. My shooting to date has all bee indoors , so No scorching sun reflecting off a Glossy oversight.
The Tisas Raider for its price is a huge Win...it certainly beats the heck out of its Turkish Cousin from Girsan in a simular configuration and color scheme. I know. I have both and only slightly regret the Girsan purchase.
I am not a big fan of superior. I think they are over priced. It was better when it was a pawn bussiness.

Tisas as a company SUCKS! Their customer service is non does not respond. Need warranty work on my NEW Raider, quick to send a form, sent it back, no mailing label sent. They are snotty and say "hold on we are busy with recalls!" Now ghosting me after 4 weeks.. I own 2, the cheap Service Special .45 acp fine, Raider wish I could get my money back and dump it!
