I have also run a Colt that had to be sent back to them 2 times before it functioned half way decent. Any pistol brand can have their short comings and believe me they do. 50 thousand rounds? Get real. After that many rounds Any pistol will need and should have maintenance done. You hate aluminum frames? I guess you consider Sig Sauer pistols junk then? I will put my $900 P226 pistol up against any 1911 custom pistol you have that you squandered "thousands" for. Tisas pistols seem to be well made and well priced guns. There are other brands that offer the same. Let the pistol determine its quality by how it functions. A gun isn't judged by it being overpriced its judged by how reliable it is in a emergency situation. I know pistols. I have shot hundreds. Many upon many lower priced brands function flawlessly and i would choose those over big name brands in a second. Again, 50 thousand rounds to be reliable? Get real. Any gun would need service after that many rounds... barrel, springs...extractors...etc would need an overhaul. 😂

Well done, good post up. Only own 1 Tisas and its in 45 ACP. Solid color commentary and mag decision. For me... these make fun competition or range day purpose vs true CCW or night stand. Tisas is making a SOLID product for the price and I find it hard to critique based on price to quality vs purpose in tool kit.
I've got a Bantam carry, it's basically the same gun with a fancy slide and Fiber Optic front sight. It's been perfect through about 400 rounds of various 115 RN. But it will jam HP's and TRN's into the feed ramp about 5% of the time, but as the round count increases it is getting better. The slide to frame fit was super tight out of the box, with ~700 rounds through it the fit has loosened to just tight. It's a lot of fun to shoot and I think the bobtail makes it more comfortable in the hand. Comparing the Tisas mags to two new Wilson ETM mags, both are good with round nose but the Wilson mags are definitely better with HP's and truncated round nose ammo.

I have two Tisas .45 ACP 1911s, a Raider and a Service Special. They're both excellent guns with the biggest difference being the sights. Both feed anything and shoot anything and are more accurate than I am and I'm not a bad shot by any means. Both SHOULD cost a lot more than they do, thanks to the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Turkish lira. Overall the Raider is my favorite of my four 1911s. It just feels RIGHT and I shoot better with it than any other gun. I'll have more Tisas pistols, I'm sure. Looking forward to the release of a 2011 in .45 ACP.

I thought it was nice to see an honest review with some actual round count, not the usual "look how awesome this is, never mind I only put 4 or 5 mags through it" stuff that I see too much of. I just ordered a Stingray, this review was part of what made me feel comfortable taking a chance on this particular "budget brand." As far as quality of cheap vs. expensive guns, I don't own any expensive 1911's but the trigger on my Colt is better than my RIA (in spite of the Colt being series 80) and the fit and finish of the RIA isn't close to as nice as the Colt.
Well, he did say that all of his other 1911's cost > $1,000 more and that this one had a cheap barrel and fitting simply based on the price. He also talked about his expensive Springfield and how reliable it is. Why would he mention the price and reliability if not to infer that inexpensive 1911's tend to be unreliable. While I do have some middle of the road priced 1911's, my inexpensive RIA and Para commander and full size 1911's have been 100% from the start.
If you had painful arthritis in both hands, would you keep that 9mm vs 45? You didn't seem to knock it for anything serious. If it was a 5" would you keep it then?
The only true hate I have for it was the ambi safety edges. 9mm would make a pretty big difference if I had arthritis in my hands and wrists. I will say that I’ve broken a finger on each hand recently, but still prefer the .45. Not the same thing I get it, but I can still expect more reliability and accuracy out of the box on a cost effective .45 vs the same in 9mm. I also don’t care for aluminum frame guns. But again, it’s personal preference… and I put a boatload of rounds through any gun I’m carrying.
my rock island basic 1911 in 9mm has probably 1000 or 1500 rounds through it with no failures. i dont think 1911 9mms are unreliable; in fact in film they use 9mm 1911s (or they use to before cgi was big) because the 9mm blanks were more reliable than the .45s
Yeah. They didn’t work well at all when the plunger spring was weak. Haven’t tried them since I replaced it. I can same they’ll work fine since that particular malfunction was cured by replacing the spring.

So many on utub say ambidextrious. You don't pronounce any "I" in the last syllable. Just bugs me. It is ambidextrous. I have the Stingray, did some mods, and it is really good, not Cabot good, but good enough to enjoy.

Ok… so in other words, you only talk good about expensive guns. Since you like to price drop all of your weapons, then clearly you have a grudge against cheap guns. But not all of us think the more money you drop equals the better firearm. I love my expensive Custom Sig but I also like The dirt cheap guns. Like the Taurus G2C. I’ve owned 1911s that were $2k+ but also some that were $500, they all shot just fine. You’re not a very good gun critic. Js. I bet you’re a Glock Fanboy as well 😂😂

I have the Tisas Stingray in 45acp and it runs the magazines that come with it perfectly fine
I traded for a Tisas Stingray. Can’t wait to shoot it, plus get to stay in 9 mm and don’t have to worry about expensive .45 acp.

I fit a undersized bushing to the slide and barrel on every 1911 I've owned my springers colts and tisas.

Dude why would you mention the Bobtail? that Is the reason why it's for CONCEALED CARRY so it doesn't print vs your 5in 1911.
