The best advice I heard from you was “live below your means.” I’ve lived well below my means since I started seriously working in high school. I’m 58 this year and retired from the military and a retired educator. I live off the interest from my savings alone. It can be done and I taught and modeled this for my son. Four years out of college and he bought himself a nice home and his mortgage is his only debt. Debt free living is possible and too bad very few people have the discipline to do it. Keep educating others with your videos and maybe the number of self-sufficient people will rise. 🏍🇺🇸🎒

Being able to work on your own truck is probably the most important part. I was running short on time and was going to have a dealership service my transmission they quoted me $500 bucks needless to say that same $500 bucks just bought me everything to service my transmission and service my front and rear differential plus my transformer case with a little left over for the cold beer I’m gonna enjoy while doing it when I get home 😂

You are right about mechanics. I found a good one once, but I moved away from that area so I do everything myself now. Most of the dealer's shops are overpriced and worthless. I'm convinced that some cheapo oil change places put in used oil because nobody knows the difference.

You are absolutely right about doing your own maintenance and minor repairs yourself. It's a great feeling afterwards knowing I saved a ton of money and knowing it is done correctly. Though, there are some people that are not very mechanically inclined and only learn by repetition, the majority of people underestimate themselves in their ability and would surprise themselves if they gave it a try. I'm kind of like you, not an expert but just a hobbyist not afraid to try something myself, with the help of the RUclips University of course. lol And always being willing to help someone out or showing them something that I may have learned, or vice versa.

You are totally correct in your thoughts. If you understand how your equipment works the situation that is presented to you. You will be more relaxed and have a understanding how to fix it.
I have determined for some reason my truck does not like synthetic oil or the 5w40. I can’t explain it but have decided to go back to 15w40. I have purchased my RotellaT4 15w40 8Qts and 2 Qts of Lucas as you use in you truck. The reviews I saw on Delvac had very poor flow tests when cold but the T4 tested well. I am soon due for a oil change in 5% and will change both the oil and fuel filter at this time. Thank You for all of your input and concern.
    Safe Travels

I went with hydraulic hose because every video I watched put in hydraulic hose because trying to get a new OE line in is almost impossible. 20 years ago I could only do the basic stuff but now I'm much better. The shops want $140/hour Canadian to work on vehicles so I'm will to try almost anything.

Sup brother , ya man mechanics are hard to find.
It’s the damn warranty companies make them bitter I bet.
I’m trying to get my trans to shift like it should.
Got truck not long ago and just thought it would just need trans reset but that was not it. Went to Duramax tuners got a tcm. 1600$ lol. That did maybe 20% better. No way sent it back.
It’s at dealer in wood river IL
Going to have them do a Calibration Update Bulletin: #17-NA-171
I told them also to check to make sure shifting strategies are set right and performing right.
Also have a appointment for Carl’s 4/4 in Bartelso IL to have another guy look at it. Josh. He has same truck.
Let me tell ya no one speaks trans. It would be like going to your nearest Chinese restaurant and trying to explain what is wrong with what your feeling and you are left with dead end after dead end.
It’s g d dealer is jumping right out and telling me they will do what they can but if that do t get it you will prob need a trans lol.
One of the strongest trans ever built and she shits the bead at 40k
The g d seat is not even broke in. The stealing wheel is still like brand new.
That was a dealer I went to first and I think I said to much so they go ape shit crazy. Got to give them tasks to do then move to the next thing.
Ya can’t tell them it needs air in the tires bc it will mess them up. Just say check trans shift calibrations make sure they are with in speck.
