I hear ya on that Dave. I'm constantly getting people coming up to me when I'm getting things set-up for my job telling me what I should and shouldn't be doing with loadouts etc... The worst ones are the people who don't even do the job (or even work at the sites I'm picking-up/dropping off at) trying to give me instructions. Annoys the bejeebers outta me.
Small world Dave, im from Mobile. Love the trucking vids. I live vicariously though your experiences. I drove truck 8 years for the Army. Now i literally do what the guys @ 10:26 are doing lol. Anyway, thanks for what you do. Keep it up!
That was a Pro move Dave. Excellent video. Need to let driver be driver, if the shipper gets in the mix driver shouldn’t bug out causing another driver into a break.
Amazing CFI did not have air buttons to move tandems, they did at a smaller company of West Side Transport, did not have to once pull a bar to do tandems. You don't have to get back out and look with the tug test, but always a great idea.
I saw that Sky Mart and I knew exactly where you were - the road is being paved there because there are 4 major manufacturing plants being built down there in the next 5 years, lots of construction traffic, then will probably have to widened to 4 lanes after everything is built.
Haha it is annoying sometimes when drivers try to tell you every single little thing to do but this guy was right about you can go ahead and back against the ramp because the forklift operator would have gotten frustrated if he pulled up and you wasn't backed against the ramp lol he would have thought you was a rookie too
We had to make signs like that at my Home Depot to keep drivers from pulling out of the docks while they were being unloaded, word was people somewhere got crushed by their forklifts at a few stores.
my dude, when you set your tractor brakes just hold the trailer knob with your thumb and pull on the tractor knob with your index and middle finger, it is so much easier than what you are doing
Manual slide pin levers: I've seen at least two different designs like that. One design is like the one you seem to be describing about CFI trailers, in which the lever will only move in either direction if the slide pins are lined up with the holes. Those are the worst. I've also seen a similar, but different, design on Walmart trailers. The setup on Walmart trailers is the same, but they also have a spring on them that allows you to move the lever back into the locked position even when the slide pins are in between holes. That allows the driver to slide the pins forward or aft to the nearest hole and the pins will pop back out on their own. That other driver is something else. But I will say there is a trade-off between not offering or taking advice on how to do things and actually giving/receiving advice. In one respect, you and I are both seasoned enough to have a really good idea what we're doing. In another, we never know what methods others may have that could still provide learning opportunities - even if we have zero interest in adopting those methods after learning about them. No matter how much experience I gain, I always try to at least entertain suggestions. Veteran drivers who are worth listening to will always tell you that the day you think there is nothing new to be learned about trucking is the day you should turn in your CDL. But in cases like your own here...I'd rather just observe what others do, then consider afterward WHY another driver might do something a different way than I do it myself. Sometimes the philosophies are just different. In other cases, there could be a "oh, I didn't even think about that" experience.
It's not that you get the bottom of the barrow, it's just that companies like FedEx freight, ups, XPO ext get loaded first because we usually only pick up one or two pallets vs truckloads like sleepers. Cheers to you brother.
I am the opposite when it comes to air slide tandems lol, every time I've picked up a trailer with air slide its always been a headache, they never just pop out like they are suppose to, I prefer the bar, yes its a little more work but its a proven design that works every time.
My homie Dave from 1 trucker to another stay safe out here 👊🏾yes I remember the bar for tandems sometimes was good but others not so and had to get another driver to help guide it in whate hoke you wanted it in
Good ol slow Moncure. I picked up brick there last week with my flatbed lol! Waited there two hours to get loaded and ended up having to make my delivery the next day because I missed the cutoff by 15 minutes. That's truckin'!
Hey pal, you probably already thought about it, but be a flat-bedder, not so you don’t back-in as much, but because of $. You sound young. You’re able to jump up and down on & off that skateboard, to tarp and strap loads. That’s part of the reason you get paid more, but also, flat-bed freight loads usually pay better, from brokers, and therefore to you as a carrier or even a company-driver. Also, tankers pays better than dry-box.
I'm form the South but as a OO I hated hauling a load to the South because I almost always got a heavy a$$ paper load. They told me if you unwind one of them roles of paper it will stretch 4 miles lol
Hey Dave Have you ever been on Stinking Creek Road in Tennessee? I see it all the time going from Michigan to Florida all the time. Cool name for a road though.
I would assume day cabs are given higher priority due to most of them being hourly paid, so the longer they wait to be loaded the more the company has to pay them.
They should use these videos as educational videos for cdl school haha. And I think the property next to the road that you parked on is called an easement. I'm not certain but ya
Hey Dave the road worker let you through because we get told to keep trucks moving well in Australia we get told if there's a truck coming up the back of traffic let them keep moving too it's just so trucks don't have to build up the speed again
Flatbed have you back down into a dock that runs along both sides of the trailer. Bout 2 inches between trailer and dock on both sides. Usually inside a dark bay on a bright sunny day.
Hey Dave can't wait to see you on the road been driving for 2 years and been watching you forever man! I'm still out looking lol be cool to talk to you while driving
Wouldn't it be nice if trailers had a fisheye cam that you could view in the cab to make backing up easier? Trucking seems to have soo many modern features and tech, why can't they figure out adding a rear cam???
Just so you know you don't have to set the brakes to release those pins all you have to do is hold down the trailer handbrake if you have it in your tractor tractor
im getting my cdl permit rn and im so scared i start zoom classes with swift may 1st im more scared to fail the inspection test and i hope one day i understand the wieght stuff
Dave I think the company insulted you on top of what homie already tried to do by telling you “here’s your sign” You complain homie was trying to tell you how to your job and then the company tries to do the same thing placing that sign in front of your truck. Could only happen to you LOL. Funny video once again.
The hiding in the back to avoid talking to people who annoy you is so me 😂😂
LMAOOOOO 😊
Only the real ones know about 49 & 98! Mississippi all the way baby !! Love from Columbia MS !
OMG Dave you didn't go around to the passenger side to make sure your tandem pins were locked in place. lol
I like how them boys look to you for words of motivation
Keep those guys around
They got your back 💯💪🏽

You did well Dave I’m Proud of you. You handled it well like the professional you are. Just laughing through the nonsense.
We back at the truck stop all the time..takes us 10 pull ups but we do it ok..
That was a Pro move Dave. Excellent video. Need to let driver be driver, if the shipper gets in the mix driver shouldn’t bug out causing another driver into a break.

I love those air assist tandem slides to. We have a few. Handier than a pocket on a shirt.
Very surreal watching you drive these rural back roads in Apex, NC.
Dang it Dave you dock rubber bumper dry van driver. 😂
Looks like Dave encountered the KING Super Trucker!

I pulled stepdeck for about ten years..The thing I liked was your apointment time was when ever you got there while they were open
Right! Just use your right hand no need for both hands lol
For me it was just natural lol. Especially when red knob says not for parking.
Dave, you are my favorite RUclips channel. Please keep the videos coming.

Dude sounds like he may just be a new enthusiastic driver. He just dont understand whats insulting to other drivers.

Only by pride comes contention ! Large minds discuss ideas , average minds discuss events , small minds discuss people ! You have a small mind !
Your grammar screams big mind…
Loved the throwback Dave
You are too nice Dave. I would have told that guy to leave me alone.
If the getting static shocked when you leave the truck becomes an ongoing issue, you could consider an anti-static grounding strap on the Volvo.
Truth is ol'' Dave learnt everything he knows from ol' Larry, and thus it was for so it was written
Truth be told ol' Larry is the OG super trucker,he taught us all
I haven't seen anybody drive a truck from their armchair better than ol' Larry, and you can quote me on that
your explanation on how they make the bricks was great
Good ol slow Moncure. I picked up brick there last week with my flatbed lol! Waited there two hours to get loaded and ended up having to make my delivery the next day because I missed the cutoff by 15 minutes. That's truckin'!
i liked the little throwback at the end
Love you videos look forward to them every week ❤
Guy looked like ricky from trailer park boys lol
I’m at CFI and it’s been pretty good we have that system in new trailers I’m in the process of going owner operator
I haul Flatbed. I love it when I can just pull in to get loaded but doesn't happen very often. Lol
Seems odd cfi wouldn't have all air release trailers
Good to see ya Dave be safe out there bro

Thanks for another cool video, Dave. I loved the throwback, good times. Stay safe.
Yes air release tandems are awesome!!!
There was one trailer for Transport America that had this system. It was fun trying to figure it out.
I'm form the South but as a OO I hated hauling a load to the South because I almost always got a heavy a$$ paper load. They told me if you unwind one of them roles of paper it will stretch 4 miles lol
You need to slow down more in them construction zones when workers are present.. Just a healthy tip lil buddy 👌
That other driver being a complete Straw boss 😂
I'm close to hwy 49 right now. In Hattiesburg
Hey Dave
Have you ever been on Stinking Creek Road in Tennessee? I see it all the time going from Michigan to Florida all the time. Cool name for a road though.
Great video Dave be safe
I would assume day cabs are given higher priority due to most of them being hourly paid, so the longer they wait to be loaded the more the company has to pay them.
When Dave does his “critiquing trucker voice” he sounds like the teacher from south park 😂 3:20
That bob- tail is exactly why construction zones are dangerous, all those safety devices up and still manage to almost wreck.
I been there before, I almost got lost too because the company has a different address from the place.
If i didnt know what i was doing id just keep following the other truck lol. Thanks for the video Dave!
They should use these videos as educational videos for cdl school haha. And I think the property next to the road that you parked on is called an easement. I'm not certain but ya
“I’m not new, bro” 😂🤣😂
Dave!!! Though we talked about your closing credits and song....c'mon man...lol
Hey Dave the road worker let you through because we get told to keep trucks moving well in Australia we get told if there's a truck coming up the back of traffic let them keep moving too it's just so trucks don't have to build up the speed again

Brick plant reminds me of US Gypsum in Michigan.....
I am in az on my way to st. Louis Missouri and I know one I hate west coast
We have air release on our werner reefer trailers
Pulled a box van and tank trailer before I pulled a flat bed, I did know how to BACK.😁🤣😊
Hey Dave can't wait to see you on the road been driving for 2 years and been watching you forever man! I'm still out looking lol be cool to talk to you while driving
Love the vids Dave
I always get shocked getting out of my truck! I wonder what that’s about.
Wouldn't it be nice if trailers had a fisheye cam that you could view in the cab to make backing up easier? Trucking seems to have soo many modern features and tech, why can't they figure out adding a rear cam???

That newbie driver right here is a perfect example of the "Mt Stupid" comic from SMBC.
Damn door swingers lmao idk I hit docks with my stoga getting glass loads all the time but most of the open deck guys oh yeah
Every place that does business with trucks should have a place for a couple of trucks to park that are out of time.
Im going to invent a wireless magetic backing camera that that you can slap on the back of the trailer before backing in .
That trucking Dave lol love story time with Dave
The flat bedders can’t back, but the enclosed trailers can’t pull tie downs sheeeeesh
what happens when you dont lock the trailer axels properly?
That’s trucking Dave
have you ever transported like a special cargo/ special transport ?
Respect on that just let us do our jobs and if we need help we know how to ask lol well some of us do
I had an old dude come into a truck stop to tell me my tandems were really far back…
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I'm in AZ an that's a insult to Carolina 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Your videos always make me laugh! Great Job! Stay safe out there and Keep on Rolling !! 😅😂😅
It'd be very interesting if that dude also had to take 10 hr rest too 😅
Your awesome thanks for the great content
17:16
Sweet international.
Dave I think the company insulted you on top of what homie already tried to do by telling you “here’s your sign” You complain homie was trying to tell you how to your job and then the company tries to do the same thing placing that sign in front of your truck. Could only happen to you LOL. Funny video once again.
10:51 gonna be slicker than snot when it rains O_O
Could be getting static shocked because of the type of shoes you have on. It would happen to me when I had clothy type shoes
What camera do you use for your head cam????
I like the outro. Does that mean more motorcycle content coming soon?
9:28 no, i’m even more heated rn 🗿
Hey you changed the ending back to the old way. Was used to the usual trucking one
Why does your steering squeal when you turn the wheel
Haha good ole skyline. Good company to work for.
Anytime you wanna back a 53' split axel at 47k freight lol
"...... unless you're right."
Yo wht happened to the dude who used to do Dave Eats and get piss drunk??He was epic. I been subscribed forever. Salute
Hey Dave, what type of watch are you wearing. It’s nice. I’m a watch wearing guy. Be safe.
With trucks like this if ur on the highway have you got the floor it to keep up ?
I don’t have many people tell me how to do my job, I’m sure I look unapproachable lol I bet she meant that driveway just after the speedbump lol
