I had Toyo AT2's and they lasted 80k miles. I just replaced them with Toyo AT3's. they are the best tires i've ever owned in my whole life and i'm 50 years old. quiet, smooth, and last longer than anything else i've ever had.

FYI, I just looked up your size of tires and looked at my wholesale cost, the BFG KO2 is around 313.00 and the Toyo A/T3 about 289.00, tires have gone up a ton in the last year.

On my 3rd set 1set was toyo AT2 and other 2 sets were the AT3 never any problems. wear perfect and work perfect and no flats other than a broken valve stem and years of back and forth from nevada to montana and off road as well. Back in the day i had several bfg all terrains separate on me and one was a blow out on the hwy at 65 mph and the tire was only 3 months old but that just shows no matter what brand or how much they cost some one somwhere has had trouble with it.

Just bought a new complete set of the Toyo open country A/T 3 tires through the dealer that I'm buying my new truck at, mainly because the ko's are not available in 285 x 75 x R18's and know several people who claim to have a good experience with them. Had a tad over 100,000 miles on the ko's that were on my old truck and loved those tires. I only really used my old 1/2 ton truck as a daily driver, though. Hopefully, whatever problem that Toyo has (or had), they have corrected It. Good informative video, thanks.

Not sure what to think of mine. I have the Toyo OC AtIII and they are about 40% left and I have had three punctures on two tires from stones, and they didn’t do so well on ice or snow I ran the 305-55r20 on a 2020 GMC 2500, I did order the same tire for my wife’s Subaru we will see how they do on a small car. A lot of my friends swear by them on their suv so I am going to try them again but for my wife’s Subaru, now for my 2500 GMC I am going with the Nokian Outpost NAT heard some great reviews on those will see how they do.

Tires although easiest to pick on (AFTER GETTING NEW ONES ) is /are USUALLY the last/least of YOUR problems,..proper diagnosis OF front end is required ..looking beyond the tires IT IS CRITICAL ..IMO ??!! JUST TO CLARIFY im not a tire brand fan and i will provide whatever you want no opinions added ,they are all lets just say tires and do as they r suppose tooo dont be fooled by marketing !!

I own a small tire shop in Wyoming. Several weeks ago a friend of mine wanted a set of BFG KO2 tires in a 275/70R18. I got him a set and installed them on his 3500 Dodge Cummins SRW truck. One tire took a lot of weight to balance. About a week later he called me up and said he had a pretty bad vibration. I had him bring the truck by and I rebalance all of his tires. I test drove it and the issue was still there. I narrowed the cause down to one tire that had a wobble in the tire. I checked the wheel with a dial indicator and it was within .015. I put the tire on the rear of his truck and it is less noticable, but will probably still be an issue. It can happen with any tire brand, it just sucks when you are the one that has to deal with it. It sucks for the dealer too, because he sold you the tire and has to try and resolve the issue.

    • @davecamilleri9411
      @davecamilleri9411 Год назад

For the type of driving you do, I would think the Michelin LTX would be a great tire. I have a set of Toyo R/T Trail that I want to try on my 23 GMC Dually, but I only have two so far, and I am waiting on the other 4, they look very beefy. My favorite tire to date for traction in mud and snow is the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T they are incredible, but I just sold the truck I had them on, so I don't know how long they will last. I would only keep them on in the winter and then put on my Michelins.

We don't have snow or much mud here, just rocks and sand so I've never felt the need to run AT's, especially given that towing a car trailer is a fair part of the cars diet. I was considering the Open Country AT's due to lack of HT but I think your video made my mind up for me 👍

I had a bad experience with BF Goodrich tires and was mad at the BF Goodrich and at Michelin tires because they make them. The tread came off two of the tires and did body damage. Buying a 2022 Duramax that came with Michelins, I was a little hesitant on running them. After putting almost 60,000 miles on them, I removed them and although they still had probably another 10,000 miles left I put new tires on for the simple fact I didn’t want to be put out of service being so close to legal tread height. When I bought the truck a year or so ago I had purchased the toyo at3 to replace the Michelins and now have about 10,000 on them and I agree they are not a smooth tire. If I do not get into a semi tractor, I will upgrade to a 19.5 wheel/tire combo to run commercial tires.

I’m wondering if you didn’t have something happen on the install to instigate the behaviour??
I’ve ran Toyo’s, BF’s as my favourites. BUT the all time best I’ve used so far is the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss’s. Incredible tires but you pay a lot more. I started into Toyos when I wasn’t buying big trucks anymore. Before that the BFG’s were my fav. In a lighter vehicle Toyos, even the LT’s are 10 or so lbs lighter than a BFG KO. So on my smaller SUV I don’t need heavy tires that cost MPG. It may be that the AT3’s just aren’t great for larger trucks where the thick heavy sidewalls or the BFG’s are just better.

Wanted to get your opinion on something. I haul wood pallets with my 2000 Sierra 2500, 6.0L gas. I run a 10 ply mud terrain on the rear and a standard 4 ply AT tire on the front. I never plan to rotate these, and I never have over 4,000 lb's on the bumper pull trailer. I see this as being okay, some others have stressed I should run 10 ply all around. Trucks rated 7,500 to 11,900 but I'll likely never pull more than 6,000 with trailer weight. I run local, never more than 100 miles from home and carry full size truck and trailer spares. Thanks.

I see why people say that and feel that way myself but i never know what I'll be pulling. I think it's what ever you're comfortable with with your circumstances. I've pulled a lot of stuff on standard tires. There's a lot less sway with the 10 plys. I think that would be what kept me with 10 ply but if i wanted to try standard tires and didn't feel i was going to overload them if give it a try

Just went from Nitto Ridge Grapplers to Falken Wildpeaks and they are so much better than the Nittos. The Nittos look really good, but now with the Falkens I can hear my radio and and wife talk. The Nittos were quiet at first but after 5,000 miles they got loud.

I would've stuck with the Nittos if they drowned out my wife!! Just kidding. I have Falkens. I like them but they are worn out at 31,000 miles but can't decide what to buy now. I was looking at the Toyo Open Country AT3 until I saw this video.

Thanks for sharing your review. I am experiencing something similar with my Toyo AT3s in Lt295-65R20. Mine don’t shake or vibrate, but have a very distinctive flop-flop-flop noise as they rotate. I fear one or more are out of round or have something defective with belt. Ford and another tire shop checked over truck and determined alignment, steering and suspension are 100% good and noise definitely coming from tires, but can’t find anything obvious. Toyo customer service has been ignoring me. I fear it will only get worse with time. What else should I look at?

I appreciate your video and feedback on the tires. I have ko2's on my truck now (287/70/17 on my 19 ranger). I love 'em, and I've had them at the offroad limit (and a little beyond) of my vehicle, and they do just fine. I get stuck in nasty GA-clay just like my buddies with duratracs, nittos, etc. They're well mannered on the highway too, seem fine in the rain. I really can't complain. Of course, I'm always lookin' for better, and had my eye on the toyo at3 when my ko2's die, but might have to re-think that... if it ain't broke...

You bring up a good point with Toyo tires, on my 1 ton dodge ram I had mud terrain‘s and they started shaking within the first 3000 miles brought them back in said they were out of balance they re-balance it was good for about a couple days then all of a sudden they start shaking again they couldn’t resolve the problem so I went with the all-terrain I think it was the at2 and after so many miles they started shaking and I went through the same thing then I went back to the mud terrain they were good for a couple months but then started shaking, and I’ve had this problem with pretty much all the Toyo the RT the AT and the MT, But never really thought about it I thought it was because my 1 ton was stiff now I have a 2500 with airbags tow heavy loads regularly I wanted a more aggressive tire since I do go on ranch properties and don’t want to get my truck stuck so I went with the AT3 which is a good looking tire fairly quiet good in the rain and good in the snow, but now I have over 3000 miles on them and they are starting to shake, maybe it’s the rubber compound maybe it’s the glue I don’t know what it is but Toyos have a tendency to shake and a lot of folks I’ve talk to you going through the same thing. But what I have noticed most people with stiffer riding trucks notice it RE 1 ton dodge whether it’s Dooley or single definitely noticeable in my 2500 with the airbags rides fairly stiff
