The best was at the end....... thanks J.C., you know when you know when you get to the end of this one and Mrs JC is the best assistant in your workshop!
Hey Jeff you take pride in your work and it really give it to those so call Cheap mechanics, don't let them frustrate as they are know it all and really know squat they should go back to the text books. Jeff what you are doing is showing these so call Know all how it should be done . Keep it up your great show you explain every thing.
I just watched both the videos on this truck and it’s amazing how tiny little fixes stack up and end up taking days to fix it all. The trucks’ in good hands. I don’t think you mentioned it in your videos, but are you a fan of these old 2 stroke diesels? I’ve heard the only thing their efficient at is making noise🤣
two stroke have been turning diesel fuel into noise for far too long. the novelty wears off after a minute or two....specially if your like me. i have no interest in an under powered, extremely loud screaming engine.
Great video J.C.Smith really enjoy watching you maintain this truck for this customer. Nice work of rebuilding the headlight bucket on the hood. It's probably stronger now than when the hold was new. Thanks for sharing stay safe Mr & Mrs J.C.Smith.
Great video again on the ol' Detroit! That GMC Astro/Gleaner combine combo I told you about the other day, we used Delo 400 30W engine oil in the Detroit. We were told that it slobbered less than other oil, and I recall that it did help with that! The 8V71 was quite the bleeder when it came to engine oil! The one in your customer's truck looks pretty dry!
Sounds like not only are you repairing his truck but you are also trying to educate him as well. It is possible to educate someone willing to listen and learn . Thanks for taking us along. Tom
the only thing you can do to it is bandages unless he wants to drop some money, always great video"s J.C. you do great work I think. and being honest is a great trait to have about things. Chris form Cashmere
I'm gonna pick me up one of those grease guns this week. I have 2 trucks that need greased I figured It will pay for itself that first day with the time it will save me
Amazing Work as always! Repairing old stuff and getting the functionality and coming close to the budget as you have is almost impossible! it would be impossible without your years of experience!
The Bendix AD-9 PuraGuard filters run good on that system. They’re oil Coalescing so I believe they handle the mixture better than a standard desiccant cartridge. 107794PGX I love that you filter the filter itself before draining from the main bolt. Genius! Great content once again!
Dear Misses Smith. You're wearing a very nice pair of yellow rubber chicken boots.👍👌👏 I really like 💛 them and I hope that your husband has some with truck images. 😁 ;-) Best regards, luck and especially health to all involved life forms. By the way: How are the chickens, the luxurious chicken coop and how's Jeffrey doing?
i may have asked you this question before. have you ever used the older York A/C compressor and modified them for onboard air for a tow truck. i have that old 1966 D500 Dodge doesn't have air brakes but want onboard air and also want to add onboard air on my 1994 Ram 2500 i do some offroad recovery jobs with it have warn 8274 front winch and 8274 rear winch and 2 warn 8,000 for side pull and have a Apex 12,000 for the small boom for lifting. would save me a lot of time having onboard air. also planning on adding two air bags on the rear and the air would be nice for that
i have not done the york a/c compressor as an air compressor but i have heard of other doing it. since it has an electric clutch, you could run a pressure switch to control the coil. a pressure relief valve too. would need a check valve in the tank. only thing i wonder about is how you unload the compressor when it cycles. you wouldnt want it hold cut out pressure in the line between the compressor and the tank. i assume you would want it to purge so when it started again it wouldnt be so hard on the belt and the compressor itself.
You can't keep making chicken salad out off chicken poop. Eventually you run out of patience. How far does he want to stretch a dollar? Great job as always-
Sad as it is there’s alot of people that just run equipment till it quits. Then go buy another. Where as some maintenance could save them in the long run.
Man if that truck is working that much he needs to take batter care of it . And if its making him that much money he needs to put a little back into it every so often ....if its not making him money but running everyday he needs to start charging more . Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you!!!!
and that folks is how you drain the oil without getting oil all over your arm where are those that like to post how to change your oil without getting oil on you videos
Well working 16 hours a day tends to leave one a tad drained, and if he is lucky enough to get a day off, I am sure everything else life throws at him tends to be of a higher priority. Even working local truck owning is a single mans game. He is doing his best and getting better regarding truck upkeep
It does my heart good watching someone using the correct oil for a 2-stroke Detroit Diesel.
He’s willing to listen and learn that’s half the problem. When DOT gets hold of him , he will be educated in the why of how you do things.
your on the road all the time....you get it.
The best was at the end....... thanks J.C., you know when you know when you get to the end of this one and Mrs JC is the best assistant in your workshop!
Like the old adage ‘maintenance doesn’t cost it pays’.
Dude your skills are too good to be working on something for someone that does not care!
thats funny. you and another guy must think im better than i am.....maybe the camera adds skills i dont have.
getting the truck to the shop is a huge plus itself

Thanks for using shell rotella. It keeps my wife working.

Good job on the hood/headlight repair!
Jc get it done and done right 👍👍
That's in bad shape. You are a miracle worker on both those tanker trucks
Great video J.C.Smith really enjoy watching you maintain this truck for this customer. Nice work of rebuilding the headlight bucket on the hood. It's probably stronger now than when the hold was new. Thanks for sharing stay safe Mr & Mrs J.C.Smith.

Sucking unfilted air wouldn't help the air compressor's cause. Imagine the amount of dust the engine has eaten. Great vid guys.
My wife has those same yellow chicken boots. She uses them in the hen house so I call them the chicken shitters. Small world
Nice job on the headlight, that ought to hold for a while. Mrs Smith has some snazzy boots.

Hi JC thank you for sharing 😊

Really enjoy the videos. Did you know that they make special oil resistant filter for air dryer for old worn equipment like this truck
Thanks for the video J.C.

Nice job with the clutch adjustment J.C 🙂👍
Nice work.
Thank you for sharing.
hello j.c & mr.s smith & it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks j.c friends randy
I’m going to guess that the air compressor uses the main air filter trunk for its air inlet. With all those openings it probably got dusted.

Great video 👍, JC. Love Mrs Smiths chicken boots 😅. Have a great evening
Love ol 9300 ih trucks tho that one is boned when in good condition are a joy to drive
At least he is making effort to keep them in good shape
I feel that you should fill the oil filter up because it would take longer for the oil to run through the engine.
cool boots
Straight 40 weight? Is that a a DD spec?
yep. that is what detroit wants for the 2 strokes.

@@j.c.smithprojects they have some sorta kit supposed to have everything you need
Is this the same owner as the Peterbilt from the frame stretch project?
You can't keep making chicken salad out off chicken poop. Eventually you run out of patience. How far does he want to stretch a dollar?
Great job as always-
seems like i have been doing that exact thing for a number of years now. making junk less junky junk.
The truck that just keeps giving things to do
I fill the filter if it is easy. If there is any reason not to, I don't.
What does this truck do?
Hood looks so good now on the drivers side when are you doing the passenger side ? 😜
I wish I had the money for you to fix my trucks.
What does he haul in it?
Sad as it is there’s alot of people that just run equipment till it quits. Then go buy another. Where as some maintenance could save them in the long run.
I am sure his air intake piping contributed to the demise of his air compressor because it was sucking dirty air in as well
no doubt

Almost looks like a broken bolt on that front left leaf spring perch and a missing bolt on the bell housing. That screamer is rattling the world apart
I always fill my oil filter
😎👍
We grease are trucks ever 1500 miles Atleast once a week
“I know a guy”. He knows a guy that could have sold him a newer better truck
Detroits-----UGH !!!!
two stroke detroit at that!
Double UGH !!@@j.c.smithprojects
