A great tip for networking is to remember personal details about people...I used to take notes as soon as I met someone on the back of their business card. Just 2/3 things spouses name, kids sports, anything so I could start a conversation like I was their best friend when I met them again
In western culture the highest status sits at the end of the table. In asian culture the highest status sits at the middle of the table. Keep that in mind. Culture maybe different in other regions as well 😊
My wife and I have the Carl Friedrik suitcases and carry ons. We love them! We’ve taken them to Aruba, Curaçao and Cozumel, in that order. When we landed back in Indy from Cozumel, one of her suitcase wheels was absolutely destroyed and dented the bag in on that corner. The whole bag was replaced with zero hassle. We got countless compliments and inquiries about where we got them. It’s just the best luggage. However, we were under the impression that they were bomb proof. What happened to her wheel was such a shock that it had to have almost been a bomb to do that damage. The durability probably saved the expensive bottles of tequila we bought in Cozumel.
I’m a business consultant and I always sit at the middle of the meeting room tables. It’s about being confident in yourself and when talking, everyone can listen to me because I’m at the right proximity to everyone, I don’t have to be loud just poised to make my point at the centre of the table
I’ve learned that sitting next to a customer shows that you’re together rather than across the table where it appears adversarial. Humility goes a long way toward showing a quiet, controlled confidence.
There’s an unbelievable amount of work that goes into #1. You really have to put in the work to become That Guy. It seems effortless to others but you had to do a ton to make it happen.
#4 is crucial. Being able to speak well in front of others goes A LONG way. It comes natural to some, and some really struggle with it, but it’s a skill that will serve you well in business, in relationships, and just pretty much everywhere in life. I would also add being able to write well. Expressing your thoughts in writing also goes a long way.
Funny about luggage. Yeah, I check high quality luggage. My carryon is all leather embossed luggage that I bought overseas, and on my last flight, TSA threatened to keep it and take it home for herself, and ladies on the jetway and the FA's onboard complimented me on my beautiful leather bag. I just need it for my laptop and my prescription drugs, but I noticed that everyone else on board had wretched plastic roller bags or canvas backpacks. So yeah, I get R-E-S-P-E-C-T. (that and my coat and tie.)
In the UK actual older old money types buy their clothes from a place called Marks and Spencer’s. They tend to have bespoke made stuff for formal occasions. Tweeds and brogues for shooting days. All clothing items tend to be worn for decades. Especially Barbour jackets, good shoes such as John Lobb, Trickers, Crocket and Jones. Watches from the holy trinity, Girard Perregaux, Cartier, Jaeger LeCoulte, Parmigiani Fleur. Rolex, not so much. When wondering about the estates, British aristocratic men could easily be mistaken for a homeless person.
In psychology, what Antonio speaks about around 50 seconds in, is called the stages of group formation, specifically, the storming to norming stages. Great video as always.
Antonio, all great advice. Mu favorite ones are: 1) west a nice watch, but pick a watch that you pile, not one that you are expected to wear. Choose wisely, choose what’s talk to you
I've been all over the world, and the 1 thing that captures everyone's attention is the SUIT. If you are the one person in a bespoke suit, people immediately perceive you as valuable. You can have a Star Wars watch on, but if your suit is a 2-3k bespoke, nobody will notice; especially if you are fit.
High status does not always mean going with the most expensive items available. While this does sometimes apply, most of the time wearing clothing that makes you feel comfortable in the setting is your best bet. When you are comfortable you will present yourself in a more confident way which not only helps with coming off as high status, but it is also proven that most people especially women like to be around men with confidence. So it is not always about the cost but what makes you feel your best!
It’s interesting ~ I’m now in my middle age and learned these same skills as life has unfolded ~ we were very fortunate to grow up without smart phones and computers . men and women had interesting conversations and as a child ~ I listened , watched and learned. The kids today are behind the 8 ball .
Im female....i have noticed how I am treated differently based on what I am wearing. Ive always enjoyed looking good..however at times i have to dress down when visiting certain extended family...
As always thanks for making these type of videos. As I watch your videos once a month for the past 8 years since I was a teenager. I got to take my time to learn and develop my overall knowledge. I have educated myself these past many years. I always looked forward in this suggestion and advices. I look forward to your next month motivational videos.
I believe there should be a balance between looking presentable in a situation. Staying humble at times is appropriate. Not every situation will be in front of executives. Sometimes, these folks that over dress come off as egocentric and come off as arrogant thinking their better than everyone around them.
Yes absolutely. Being overdressed comes across as socially inept as being underdressed. Wearing a suit to the grocery store stands out just as bad as wearing cargo shorts to a business event
Great video, Antonio! Thank you for sharing your expertise on this subject. I think there's a severe lack of proper role models, people who see the value and importance of these things. So I think you're doing society a huge favor. Hopefully we get to enjoy more of these videos in the future!
Another great video, Antonio! Could we get something along the lines of, "5-10 things you should never sacrifice to save time no matter how busy you are"
Great videos. Regarding back bags, I have the impression that it is very appropriate for ladies (LV). Regarding men, I see many with suits and back bags, usually with cheap suits as one shouldn’t wear a back bag with an expensive one - and men who have their school times behind them should move on because we all went to school and we all have unconscious behaviors and perceptions.
Funny thing is that my billionaire friends that come from old money are avid thrifters and you could not tell them apart from people in the room. They also like old-school cars that are unassuming. They have power, they don't need to please anyone or fit opinion. The truelly rich try to fit in. The new rich give a damn about "looking like" some caricature of money.
That’s why the term ‘nouveau riche’ is used so derogatorily by old money people in describing wannabe pretenders. A truly wealthy and sophisticated old money rich person would have no problem getting along with an honest and interesting poor person. The nouveau riche however would talk down or ignore the poor person and the poor person would just see them as a ‘stuffed shirt, full of piss and self importance’. Neither the rich man in his family castle or the peasant in the field is fooled by wannabes.
#1 rule always look high status 1. Physically fit 2. Having Constant Energy 3. Non Reactive, Calm& relax 4. Always well dressed 5. Watch 6. Luggage 7. Ask queation, direct and include others 8. Having develop social skills 9. Making a decision at ease 10. Host an event 11. Making things flow smoothly, effortless
Fitness, knowing how to express yourself in front of others, being cultured and a subject matter expert, being able to solve people’s problems earning their trust and respect will get you far, designer brands and fancy watches, not so much.
Excellent comment. Those things tend lead to a financially successful life, which provides the expensive designer items. Instead, most people try to shortcut by just buying the expensive items without having put in the work. People who are faking it, it’s easy to tell when they haven’t done the work first.
In my experience, it depends for wealthy people. When theyre talking to a richer sphere if people, such as when theyre with their own kind, sure they dress better. But when theyre out in the world, running errands, they dont dress as well. The epitome of high status I once saw was at this hospital and this kid with an ipad wearing higher end sneakers certain brands of clothes. The mother was wearing an hermes bag and a white monochrome outfit. Behind the two was this guy in flipflops, a t shirt, shorts, and holding an umbrella so poorly made it couldve been free. Despite that appearance he was probably the dad of the family and did not look like a driver at all. Perhaps it wad the hygiene, the posture, or the overall demeanor. He let his wife and kid do the talking while he personally didnt care. THAT was high status to me - a demeanor.
At 10:12 you're looking into Hugo Jacomet's 'The Italian Gentleman'. Showing that book in your video, however briefly: that's a nice touch, showing you're a real gentleman.
You can learn more about a person's character if the person you're interacting with believes you to be of lower status than you can if he knows you can fire him. It's also revealing how he would treat restaurant staff.
Wow Antonio, you covered the A to Z of how men could improve and progress in their lives. I was thinking we would do well to figure out our health and fitness but that was just your start of the journey. Thanks, your material was inspiring.
Ugh I hate the rules about “networking” and social approval. I spent 280-300 days a year away from home for the last 10 years. I did what I was supposed to, stay on purpose, get my money right, get the career I was chasing. Now after all that, I’m still supposed to have this network of people and available women who live in the same city to go out with, when my coworkers and friends all dispersed in cities all around the United States. I’ve only ever worked with 1 person who lived in the same city. I don’t go out drinking because it’s been a struggle in the past. How the hell am I supposed to chase money & career AND be this social butterfly? I can only be in one place at once.
I always carry a $10k stack in my hand and wave it around at everyone. I tried gold bars but found that people didn't have a grasp of the actual value, even though it was much more, and the weight was a bit annoying if I was out all day.
There is a caveat by looking high status. Early 20 s I dressed as best as I was able to afford for job interviews. I spoke and articulated well. At that time I was an up and comer; I had very little to my name. Problem was, I was passed over on many jobs. Why? I began to follow up and question, perhaps I wasn’t interviewing well. Nope. I interviewed just fine. I didn’t look like I needed the job as badly as those who went in there dressed down and out. Those individuals looked desperate and quite frankly were hired out of pity, perhaps. Shouldn’t have been that way but life isn’t about ‘should’ and life isn’t linear. To this day I still dress ‘high status’. So, I wouldn’t recommend dressing down though dressing ‘up’ may prevent you from attaining certain things.
Hey, how do you do? I appreciate your Channel a lot, thank you for your work. Could you tell me please, either how do you fit all your stuff in such small bags, or how you are able to take with your só little and still be able to be elegant?
I have come across wealthy person that don’t meet these criteria. So I respectfully disagree. A lot of wealthy people are trying to hide among the crowd and don’t even want to be identified.
And there’s a million videos telling you how to look like “money” so the look is irrelevant. There are no rules when you have money, you make your own.
My old boss is super rich... Dressed like a bum. Wind breaker pants and t shirts. Open the door to his shop, like 20 classic cars all show car quality, and like 10 project cars he was working on. Looking at him you would think he works at McDonald's. Shout out to Gary M.
I agree. Not super rich but I'm well off. I perceive this way of thinking as strictly middle-class wannabe be's only. And They can be quite savage. It's like saying models want to look beautiful and looked at all times. It's counter intuitive. It comes from a place of want, not actually having.
Being "Wealthy" and "High Status" are 2 different things. You can be broke and still have "High Status". I know many wealthy men who are lame, anti-social, and get no cat.
Thats not it. Looks is how you want to be treated. You want to be treated like VIP then dress as if you are VIP. Because you are the one in need. But if you are actually serious money I mean realy serious then it's not your job to looks like one but it's other job to know you are serious money because others want your money.

Walk/move with a purpose and speak with conviction. That confidence will ooze easily.

Very much agreed. You often get selected as the front man in situations that require communication when you are confident about your ability to speak.
A genius, that’s humble. Simplifying complecity… much love from Saudi ❤

Dude. Actual old money people don't "try to look high status" they just like to blend in. It's a game if power in the shadows.

Another great video, Antonio!

Quite possibly the best video that you’ve made, IMHO. Not bad for someone who used to be a member of the second best Marines Corp in the world 😉😎
Lol at the shameless ad for luggage
I really enjoy Antonio’s videos.

I stick to the Jerry Garcia wardrobe.. black tshirts, jeans, boots.. for special occasions a red shirt.. 😂
Excellent video and topic; reminds me a bit of James Bond’s approach
Great ideas bro
