More people would have so much money if they stop worrying, assuming, and pocket watching others. It screams insecurity, jealousy, inner self hatred and disappointment in oneself when people try to knock others. Old money was once upon a time new money.
I am totally NOT Old Money, Wealthy, or from a Wealthy background---I am a public servant. What I have learned to do as I have started to finally have a more comfortable income is to invest in what I buy. It doesn't even have to be from the top brands (example--I am not likely to buy a bespoke Zegna suit any time soon). I have found that there are great brands out there that have value, quality, and are affordable if you are willing to go just a bit above what you might think you should spend. For example--you can catch Allen Edmond shoes and a solid discount if you pay attention and they will last forever. I have had great luck with Beckett Simonon, but not all have. There are brands that bring quality, style, and value that are worth it if you want to be quiet with your fashion, have solid luxury items, and be able to also still invest and have savings.
