The success of The Pee-wee Herman Show prompted Warner Bros. to hire Paul Reubens to write a script for a full-length Pee-wee Herman film. His original concept was a remake of Pollyanna (1960), Reubens's favorite film, with Pee-wee Herman in the Hayley Mills role. While writing the script, Reubens noticed that many at Warner Bros. rode bicycles around the backlot and requested one of his own. This inspired Reubens to start a new script.

When I was 14 my step dads best friend OZZY starred in this movie, he was the chubby red haired guy with beard in the Tequila scene , he was a real biker from the Venice chapter of the HEATHENS...he also starred in the GOLDEN CHILD, NIGHT COURT, and STREETS OF FIRE
You have really outdone yourself Kurt! These locations are amazing. Can't believe a good chunk of the movie was shot on that one road in Newhall. The budget mustve been really tight. The cameos of fellow RUclips ppl were awesome as well.

Kurt! That was great you are my movie location hero. In 85 I was 13 and loved this movie. Saw it in the theater. I'm 52 this year and still love it. Even my 8 and 11 year Olds love it too. Great to see Scott, Pete, Mike, Jacob and Adam is this. Keep up the great work.

Man, I don’t know where you find the energy to make all of these videos. I grew up with all of this in the 80’s and love it, but it wears me out thinking about the amount of work it must take to go to all of these places and match them up.
It's amazing to see the *'Santa Monica Third St Promenade'* in the mid-80's before the huge renovation that happened starting '89. I've lived here in Santa Monica since the 80's and I forgot how it used to look
Kurt idk how you manage to find the more obscure spots from tv and film but i appreciate it so much! Big adventure and big top were my favorite movies as a young kid and dottie was my first crush!

Adam the Woo doesn't steal bicycles...he destroys them...on slides. LOL
Always keep in mind when you think they redesigned a building (bus stop arches & ticket booth), they easily (probably) installed a wall set into those arches & doorway to make them into "I don't remember them putting bars on these windows" & ticket booth. Movie magic! FANTASTIC job getting all these locations down!

My wife and I grew up in Calabasas,when we got married in the 80s we would watch Pee Wee. Around the time of our 40th anniversary we went to the Ventura theatre to watch Big Adventure with Paul Rueben’s after the show my wife got to meet with him for a few minutes. I think it was one of the greatest moments in her life surpassing the time when I introduced her to Michael Jackson,Van Halen,REO Speedwagon and others. Thanks for the great video. Such great memories of the Valley that we both miss.
