    I recently got mine and I can completely shocked at how much I love it. I am not a women who is going to wear tactical pants and a belt every day. I need a way to carry in my leggings or joggers!! Previously the only options were sticky holsters or belly bands. Both are terrible and the last thing I want around my stomach is extra bulk!!
    With the Enigma I am safely and securely carrying in just my sweats!! It's so comfortable I forget it is even there!! Complete game changer is absolutely correct!!!

    I'm newer to EDC and I love the Enigma. This is my number one go-to holster. I started using it with a G43x, then moved up to a G45 and it works great with both guns. I wear sweats most of the time, working in fitness and it's perfect. Only thing I don't like is the price. Going on $100 for a bag of screws and some straps is a lot of money. That said, I'm going to buy a second bag of screws and a strap so I have one set up for both of my carry guns. Thanks for the review John!

    • @fakecubed
      @fakecubed 2 года назад +17

      I think people would be amazed how many medical folks carry firearms. A lot of EMS does. It's always kept super low key, because it's usually against policy and the general public probably wouldn't like the idea. But yeah, it definitely happens quite a bit. A lot of EMTs are moonlighting after their day jobs as correctional officers and cops and stuff. Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of nurses, especially in the ER, are carrying too, but I don't have direct experience with that like I do with EMS (not that I'm admitting to having carried on shifts, myself). Patients can be dangerous, everyone's heard the stories, and many people want protection. It's better to get fired for violating a policy than losing your life.

    • @Chicky_Lumps
      @Chicky_Lumps 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@fakecubed I don't see why people would have anything against EMTs carrying, that just makes sense.

    • @fakecubed
      @fakecubed 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@Chicky_Lumps It certainly doesn’t bother me. But it’s a perception thing and you have to remember that most EMS is working in fairly built up areas, cities and metro areas, where guns are unpopular to begin with. EMS aren’t supposed to be cops, and so the public may think they’re out of their lane. That’s why it’s generally against policy. Plus, EMS is supposed to avoid danger. An EMT or paramedic to turns into a patient himself ties up two EMS. They’re supposed to wait back and let the cops and fire fighters make the scene nice and safe for them before they come in and do medicine. EMS is not expendable. There may be the worry that if an EMT carries a gun on a shift, they may be overconfident or get themselves into a gunfight and get hurt, when they should be super cautious and avoid getting hurt at all costs.
      It’s nonsense of course. No matter how careful somebody is, there is still danger on the job, and an EMT or paramedic who can’t defend himself at all may end up dead instead of merely wounded, and there’s only a small fraction of the population who is willing and able to get through the training and serve the community. Of those who do get through it, the burn out rate is very high. It’s high stress, and you spend all your time meeting people on their worst day of their lives, and losing patients isn’t fun either. So I’m of the opinion that anyone who is willing to do the job should not eschew any safety gear for themselves, including firearms, and the public should just get the heck over it. Whatever it takes to keep EMS in the job and comfortable, that’s a net good. But anyway, departments are worried about liability and want to cover their butts so they generally have a policy against it. But many do ignore that policy.

I can't dress in "tactical hobo" at work - I'm in a business casual environment. I've seen several reviews of the Enigma and it seems like the perfect solution. There is a really good review from the female perspective on Armed and Styled. Plus it solves the "what the heck do I do with my gun when I'm in a public restroom stall?" question. After using this for a few months, it really is a game changer.
    You can literally wear whatever you want and it works. Going to the gym/for a run is way easier.
    Getting rid of the belt clip/loops is awesome. When you need to use the bathroom, it stays on you rather than on your belt, or (god forbid) on the ground.
    The only problem I’ve had is pants with a stiff belt riding up as I go about my day, removing the gap between my belt line and the grip.
    That means I have to get my hand in behind my belt to get a full firing grip.
    It’s the only way I carry.

    Just received mine. Super aggravating to set up, mostly because I have an adjustable holster and the screws weren’t long enough, so I had to go to home depot and buy 1 inch #8 stainless steel machine screws. After that it worked fine. The threadlocker you want to buy is Loctite 243, not 242 unless you want to buy an expensive primer as well. It can be purchased at NAPA. After it’s setup, it’s awesome. Lowest profile/print I’ve ever had!
    The other thing I did which made it easier is I removed the thread locker on the small screws that hold the belt. I then added my own liquid thread locker and it was much easier to fasten together.
    Edit: PHLster got back to me and said it’s not a good idea to remove and replace the pre-applied threadlocker. It needs to be very secure or it will eventually loosen and fall.
    Also, I’ve completely stopped using belt attachments and solely use the enigma to carry. It’s the least printing option I have and it’s easy to make it ride at any height. I was having issues finding the perfect positioning when using belt loops.

    I just got one of these recently. It is everything John said it is but I'll add one thing. One of the things I have hated about belt mounted AIWB holsters is trying to use a public restroom while carrying. It requires either taking the holster off or doing a lot of fumbling around to keep it from flopping off on its own, all while you're trying to manage evacuation. The Enigma eliminates that issue. At most, you might have to disconnect the leg leash and twist the holster away from the front of your body. But it's still attached and fully supported. There is no risk of it flopping on to the floor or, worse yet, setting the holster and firearm down somewhere and forgetting it.

I've practiced my draw repeatedly without it to make sure it was the right choice and it was. Holster stays put just fine and gun comes out as needed even with solid retention in the holster. I’ve been practicing holster draw and timing it with the MantisX and I’ve noticed my biggest issue is getting hung up on my belt when clearing the garment. I was wondering if this Enigma chassis system would make for a nearly foolproof way to clear the shirt when pulling up from the lower edge since a belt outside the pants isn’t needed. All potential snags to clearing the garment are gone. I’m going to buy this, when it’s back in stock : (, and run some tests, but I’m betting it will result in a more predictable, confident and repeatable draw compared to a system requiring a belt over pants. Just thinking with my thumbs here.
    Edit: update 4/7/2021: it acted as expected. No more hangups with clearing the garment. When wearing pants, I’ve switched to a thin nylon belt with offset buckle and use the enigma system under my clothes. Works perfect.

    You joke about the part about keeping another layer on under for the demo, but serious question, is it comfortable on your skin or do you need to wear a layer like that under the swears to keep the thing from chafing your skin?

    • @ASPextra
      @ASPextra  3 года назад +24

      I prefer to have a layer under the gun for any holster, as I am not a big fan of the feel of a textured gun on my skin. So I would always wear an under-layer. Chonies and undershirt on, gun on, outer clothes on. But that's more my preference than a requirement.

      @@col.cottonhill6655, there are some mods you can use to make the belt and holster more comfortable without an undershirt. Some users have been using a Nike head wrap as a sleeve that goes over the belt with good results. Others use a bandeau bra around their torso under the holster. There's also the Papoose, a tweave liner that goes around the belt and holster, that's been really well received.
      There's definitely ways to make the Enigma more comfortable against your skin while you go out to kill fiddy men.

It’s basically a soft sleeve to go tightly around the whole thing so that nothing harsh it touching your skin.

It seems like the Enigma has the important advantage of customizability and adjustability. However, it doesn't look nearly as comfortable as the 3 Speed Holster (honestly most holsters are not). I think I will try it out though. If it's comfortable enough, then I think the adjustability will be worth it.

    I would want a system like this that could be worn carrying at 3 o'clock. I have never been comfortable carrying appendix. It is not safety related but a physical discomfort. I like the idea of something that deletes the need for a belt or denim to attach to. I have been looking at Belly Band Holsters and it has come down to Crossbreed, Clip n' Carry, and this unit. The thing I like about the other two that I do like is they are both universal positioning where this one is dedicated to appendix. I like the minimalist nature and some of the features that this one has that others do not but again I carry on my hip not hovering above my member.

    Finally an appendix carry rig that I can actually wear cause out of all my pants only my levi’s & dress pants have belt loops. Ik tell me about it not sure if it’s because I prefer the elastic band type of cargos & most modern pants these days since I dress more trendy working in film & music production also the last thing I want is to look like one of those dads who wear all Under Armor & 511 clothing which screams “Hey I totally carry but want you to think i’m not” Lol.
    Any who Im gonna give this a try cause the other con of appendix/ IWB carry is having to buy pants an extra size bigger which I don’t like , needing belt loops & I love how this can be worn no matter what bottoms you are wearing cause it attaches to the body. Still not as fast a shoulder holster which is my main way to carry cause I just throw it on like a vest & im out the door but this is nice to put on when beginning my day it’s perfect for my back gun & still can be worn with my shoulder holster which carries my XD-40 or XD 10mm both big boys.
    Ok I said enough thank you for this review I would have never known about this I’m definitely going to purchase hopefully it doesn’t cost the price of a quality leather rig, lol

That faceplate with its adjustment options allows you to pull the muzzle in a little here, pull the grip in there, rotate the whole gun a bit so that it hides better, just so many options!
