@@alvarojm750 The Enigma itself is a waistband, and the holster attaches on its inside, so I think it still counts. Well, assuming it's being worn around your waist, that is. ;)
For me, this has completely changed how I carry on a day to day basis. I work a job that requires a tucked in shirt as part of the dress code, so traditional AIWB was always difficult since even the tuckable options usually made the gun ride high enough to print badly. I would usually use a tuckable hybrid holster like a StealthGear, but then I would run into accessibility issues as I also spend a lot of time in my vehicle. This setup lets me tuck in easily and adjust the ride hight of the gun low enough to not print in a golf polo. (for reference, I carry a Glock 48) As an aside, I'd also really highly recommend the PHLster pro series holster here - lots of other good brands are out there for sure, but the attachment geometry makes more sense with their holster and the rounded end of the holster also helps prevent it poking you in the soft squishy bits as you move it around - I find it gives me a lot more freedom while staying comfortable than most of the other brands.
An alternative for tucked shirt carry was the Bianchi 9R upside-down shoulder holster (and still is, if you can find one in good condition). I carried one for years under button-down tucked shirts. With tapered shirts it helped to wear a size larger, but with straight box cut shirts I just wore my usual size and left it slightly bloused. I don't think anyone ever noticed, as long as the fabric was opaque, especially patterned fabrics. The later models were the best, with spring loaded clamshell closures that were secure yet reasonably easy to draw from. However the 9R limited carry to snubby revolvers. Some were marked 9R-1 (sometimes with the word "Chief") for J-frame and similar revolvers; 9R-2 for K-frame or Ruger SP101 (the latter in DAO spurless hammer with the stock rubber minimalist grip has been mine for 30 years). That Ruger stainless steel is incredible and has never rusted no matter how much I sweat on it, including summer walking and jogging, although I do need to check the springs occasionally. My larger 9R can work with my J-frame Model 49 Bodyguard with shrouded hammer, although the Pachmyr style grip can make the draw a bit fiddly -- I usually need to shift the grip slightly after getting both hands on the gun. The original minimalist J-frame wood grips would actually work a bit better, although those can compromise handling during firing. Unfortunately that blued J-frame revolver has pitted from sweat a bit over the decades and demands a lot more care than the Ruger. With older Bianchi 9R holsters the original elastic back strap will be worn out. I replaced mine with clip-on suspenders which have lasted now for almost 20 years. If I wanted to use button-on suspenders I'd modify the leather shoulder strap, which is still in good shape on mine. The trick with leather holsters and straps is to avoid treatments or conditioners that soften the leather, causing molded holsters to lose their shape (and compromise retention) and straps to stretch. I used a liquid treatment that left a slightly glossy, lacquered finish that lasted decades -- but I made the mistake of wearing the rig too soon after treatment, which left a skin rash for a couple of days. Since then, no problems. Unfortunately I can't recall what the brand was or whether it's still available. There have been a few other upside down holsters that are equally concealable, but those use retention straps which I would not trust. And retention straps cannot work reliably with hammerless, shrouded or spurless hammer revolvers. I have a couple of old holsters of that type by reputable makers from the 1980s, but have never used them because they rely on Velcro retention straps. Velcro is an abomination for retention straps, especially for deep concealment purposes where the ripping sound would be a giveaway. Bianchi nailed the design with the spring loaded clamshell design. Anyway, very old school rig, including the limitation to a wheelgun, but one alternative for some clothing requirements, or as a backup under a uniform.
Beard carry holsters would, I suspect, will use the "hook side" of Velcro on both exterior sides? Then what would be the "loop side". My guess would be the beard? A new type of flinching with a small pistol might develop? Flinching from a painful draw rather than when pressing the trigger. Advanced technology may be required? The muzzle would probably sweep the carotid artery and jugular vein when bending over? DO NOT use a tourniquet for an injury of either of those blood vessels. Very hard pressure only.
Great review. I've been looking at these for a few months, and this review provided the most detailed information about this carry system that I've seen anywhere. Thank you Chris.
I got into concealed carry about 6 months ago. I’m a 6’8 man though I’m relatively skinny. It can be difficult to find pants the will not only fit me and my firearm but also look good and be affordable. So most of my adult life I have only worn pants on occasions that it’s necessary. So getting use to “dressing around my gun” was going the best for me. Iv been trying to find a alternative but they all seemed subpar ether lose or unsafe. This seems to be a great solution. Thanks for your input and recommendations. Seems to be a great brand. I placed my order today and the Facebook group is a wealth of knowledge and helpful people.
I saw someone else mention this a little while ago and it seemed pretty interesting like something I might want to try. I’ve just been waiting for someone like yourself that really dives deep into the details to do a full review on it. It really does look like a great replacement to a belly band
I bought mine for when I'm wearing a suit. Seems like the perfect option. Shoulder holsters and belt holsters just don't get the job done. Everyone recommends this thing so I finally grabbed one. Should be here in a few days. Thanks for the review bud, I'm sure I'll be able to wear this with just about everything👍
I have a SIG P365 as well, and my options were either Alien Gear shoulder holster, Tier 1 Concealed appendix with ULTI clips, or one of those weird belly bands.
Excellent video as always! Im on the brink of ordering the Enigma for my preferred carry firearm and this video just moves me further right of center. The setup for the Enigma is absolutely ingenious, and the fact that you t can be worn with or within a belted pant is a HUGE selling point. Thanks for taking the time to highlight this innovation!
I typically just put my belt on under my sweatpants and the clip from my mag carrier and holster are enough to keep the pants aligned with the belt, but this holster looks like an amazing solution!
I carry a full size FNX .45 and finding a good holster is very difficult. THIS holster might be a rare gem that can help. Thank you for making this video and I’ll order one of these ASAP and try it for myself.
I've used one for about 2 months with my px4 compact and jmck wing claw 2.5. Incredibly convenient, i find myself making up excuses to wear sweat pants and shorts, as opposed to conventional pants, it's that much more comfortable. The biggest challenge I've found is getting the sweet spot on positioning, where there isn't forward tilt, but it's not digging into anything. It's the same challenge as working with a belt, just on a slightly larger scale.
How did you configure your JMC Wing? I’ve been looking into getting one for my Px4 Compact Carry as well and I saw that there’s a LONG configuration. Not sure which to get.
@@iZephiroth it ships standard with a modwing, which comes with 2 options depending on how much tuck you need. I've been happy with the stock,YMMV. Phlster also sells the "emod" insert which is supposed to mesh well with the enigma faceplate. as for length, long is generally more comfortable and easy to conceal, although smaller framed people sometimes complain about it printing, or the phenomenon known as gun dick.
I’m in my late 20s and consider myself still a pretty modern dresser. I wear straight jeans (slightly skinnier than boot cut) and I don’t typically wear a belt. My pants do NOT sag by any means but they do rest 1-2” below the part of my waist line that would be necessary while wearing a load bearing belt. That being said, it’s hard for my to Appendix carry and I find myself unable to successfully conceal without printing or some form of bulge around the zipper line. I concur with your statement, I find myself dressing around my gun. I got the standard enigma to see how it worked out against the tier 1 xiphos I just bought and it’s completely changed the game for me. I’m actually able to dress how I would like while having max efficiency on my concealment. From lazy dressing to Walmart to going out on runs, to casual dress, to fully dressing up. I’ve tested it all and so far it works great. Now it’s just up to seeing if it survives the text of time. But the quality of build seems like it’ll hold up.
My current holster is always so obvious because of the belt clip and is often uncomfortable because of the position of the belt loops on some of my pants. I’m excited about this product!!
Just ordered the standard with their skeleton holster for the 43x. I'm a bigger guy, so I think the standard size with its adjustability will be best for me as compared to the express. Your video helped me finalize my decision. I hope it feels better and helps me conceal better than the Tier 1 that I've been struggling to make work.

I've been on the waitlist for this. As someone who's always wearing either basketball shorts for lounging/gym *or* tucking my shirt into slacks for work without much inbetween, I've really grown to liking both pocket carry and the smart carry holster, but they severely limit the firearm options. Very interested in seeing if I can finally carry a DA/SA 9mm with one of these.
I carry a full-size DA/SA every day with the Brave Response Vorn holster. Would recommend looking at it EDIT: I carry the same gun in athletic wear, jeans, khaki work pants, pajama pants, etc
When wearing sweats, I'd just strap on my gun belt around my waist with the gun (and holster) in the IWB position. That worked pretty well but I can see how this is an improvement. Thanks, Chris.
I just bought one of these, (And the J frame holster that has the one had emergency reload feature.) I am looking forward to their light bearing Enigma that is supposedly coming out soon.
My enigma is bicycle carry concealment options. I have never seen anyone talking about this. I’ve been experimenting for years & yeah you definitely dress around your carry. I hope this inspires a 💡...
I didn't notice the wire of your microphone until you showed us the Enigma holster and that's only because I was paying attention. Being able to conceal a pistol as easily as a lapel mic is a pretty neat data point. With that holster, your phone prints more than anything else.
The Enigma is really a thoughtful product and I have no doubt it is now the best solution for a lot of folks who have atypical wardrobes as a part of their daily wear. As a tip if you're wearing this in a vaguely formal setting, if you regularly wear a belt and wish to wear this underneath, you may actually wish to get a slightly larger belt so you're not compressing the rig and making it tough to clear a tucked shirt. This really excels with tucked garments and makes tuckable strut holsters almost irrelevant. This with a J frame is easy mode for concealment. However, it's just not for me, at least with autos, as I desperately wanted it to work with my 365. I find its shape and ride height pull the gun into my groin and make drawing quite difficult. This isn't that big of a deal if you're going beltless on the trousers, as the material of your waistband should have enough give that you can just push through it. It might be more favorable for my case if it was more T-shaped than Y-shaped. I found the buckle liked to hop my waistband and either drag the pants down or get pulled upward and print. I have skin that irritates easily (like, the texture on the finger extension of a 15-round P365 magazine rubbed me raw from a day of driving and errands) and I find the belt to be quite irritating at its edges, as addressed in the video. The folks in the FB group really have made some awesome mods for this, though. I think the ride height issues may be mitigated by the light bearing model coming soon and I've got a stupid idea to try involving that and select holsters from JMCK and DSG. I'm also quite excited to see what they have in store for a comfort belt. In the meantime, it works with the city special holster and I'll be using it with that for the while
This is exactly the kind of review I needed. As a girl I'm not always wearing pants with loops and the loops I do wear don't always allow a gun belt, but belly bands don't feel safe.
As someone who always does beltless concealed carry, this looks promising. I currently use the Brave Response holster, which is like a better Belly Band. I carry strongside, so this seems off the table for me, but it looks really good. This also kinda reminds me of the Unity Clutch Belt, which is a band that you can put a holster (and other equipment) in
@@avwillis5269 I do also prefer the minimalism of the enigma over the clutch. My hangup is that it requires a holster designed for AIWB. If they come out with a version that’s more suited for strong side, I’ll be the first in line to try one out. For now I will stick to the BR, which has better retention and trigger guard support than other belly bands. I carry DA/SA or HK LEM, so the safety shortcomings of the bands are mitigated somewhat.
That is interesting. I have been using a Vedder LightTuck for daily appendix carry of my P365 for several months now and am pretty happy with it. It works great with a solid belt (obviously). It is even usable with lightweight Columbia Fishing pants that have a flimsy built in nylon belt. I can see why the Enigma is better for being active in lightweight outdoor clothing. Thanks for the heads up. P.S. Retention with the LightTuck is not a problem. In fact it is kind of hard to get the LightTck off the fishing pants belt.

Excellent review. You are one of the best reviewers on RUclips. As for Philster..they are out of stock on this new type holster and do not sell holsters for CZ or for my XD MOD 2 45 SO no thanks.
Excellent review, the first I've seen on the Phlster that persuaded me to seriously consider it. Most review videos babbled on for 15 minutes without saying or demonstrating anything to make it seem like more than an overengineered and fussy novelty, like a spring-loaded forearm doodad for a derringer. But now it seems to make sense.
Great video! Thank you for the insight. I'm going to give it a try as my first concealed carry holster. I'm always in gym clothes so I think it'll be perfect for me
Thank you Chris for giving an honest review of the enigma.. also letting me know it's only for appendix carry.. I personally do not like or use appendix carry so the enigma is not for me generally I carry a 11 oz 342 TI centennial type 38 special and a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I installed full size rubber hogue monogrip... This cushions my hand from recoil and gets all my fingers on the gun for maximum control I can easily hit targets up to 45 to 50 ft with no trouble for me five shots is plenty but just in case I carry a zeta 6 circular speed strip load all five at once..
There is a hack for a diy gutted paracord leg leash that is more comfortable but honestly I don’t find the leg leash to that uncomfortable against bare skin.
No Sir, that's a ladies Garter, you can dress it up all you want but that there thing is a garter. You don't look old enough to remember those things but that's it. However it seems to work just fine.
I have to laugh at the thought of having to take this thing off before going into a school. There is no good explanation when you’re caught pulling your pants up in the parking lot. That is a good way to get on a different kind of registry.
As an enigma tip: if you wear multiple layers like a t shirt and hoodie tuck your shirt or any additional layers into the enigma and leave your hoodie like normal. It minimizes the amount of clothes you have to move in order to draw
Very useful, I liked it, it’s awesome system to carry, I wish if they add a sort of loop to support the holster connect to the belts in case you wear it with a trouser , so you have 2 support options, because some times you have to remove your pistol and keep it in the car, so it’s easier than the Thai support , cheers all 😍

(for reference, I carry a Glock 48)
As an aside, I'd also really highly recommend the PHLster pro series holster here - lots of other good brands are out there for sure, but the attachment geometry makes more sense with their holster and the rounded end of the holster also helps prevent it poking you in the soft squishy bits as you move it around - I find it gives me a lot more freedom while staying comfortable than most of the other brands.
The real question is when we get a video on beard-carry holsters. Beard guns are clearly the future.
I am retired now. My remaining goal is to one day carry my G41 MOS in my beard.
@@704ab good luck sir
A derringer on a mini enigma lol
Beard carry holsters would, I suspect, will use the "hook side" of Velcro on both exterior sides?
Then what would be the "loop side". My guess would be the beard? A new type of flinching with a small pistol might develop? Flinching from a painful draw rather than when pressing the trigger. Advanced technology may be required?
The muzzle would probably sweep the carotid artery and jugular vein when bending over?
DO NOT use a tourniquet for an injury of either of those blood vessels. Very hard pressure only.
I love your disclaimers. Makes me feel confident in trusting your reviews.
The Enigma has made carrying an optimal firearm far easier across a wider range of my wardrobe.
I'm a huge fan.
I've used the skeleton holster for over a decade. Really love this company
“At your local adult store soon”
When you wear this holster, you need a safe word.
Perfect! Now I have a holster compatible with my tactical kilt!
Believe it or not, you aren't the first
Is your kilt made from Kevlar material? Gotta protect the goods. Joke
My tier1 concealment works great with mine.
Naa... AIWB with clamps from Tier 1 works for tactical kilt or just a regular OWB
Galco Miami Classic shoulder rig here.
Is this holster everything you wanted it to be? Are you glad you bought it?
I have a SIG P365 as well, and my options were either Alien Gear shoulder holster, Tier 1 Concealed appendix with ULTI clips, or one of those weird belly bands.
Excellent video as always! Im on the brink of ordering the Enigma for my preferred carry firearm and this video just moves me further right of center. The setup for the Enigma is absolutely ingenious, and the fact that you t can be worn with or within a belted pant is a HUGE selling point. Thanks for taking the time to highlight this innovation!
Philster is the reason I bought equipment to build holsters, sheathing etc... loved the basement.
I typically just put my belt on under my sweatpants and the clip from my mag carrier and holster are enough to keep the pants aligned with the belt, but this holster looks like an amazing solution!
this is great for securing the holster that holds the gun that shoots the ammo we can't find.
If you carry an empty gun, carry a hi point. Excellent for pistol whipping criminals.
Don't worry, it's never in stock anyway. Just like everything else cool. Sigh.
this is great for securing the holster that I don't have that holds the gun that I don't have that shoots the ammo we can't find
I carry a full size FNX .45 and finding a good holster is very difficult. THIS holster might be a rare gem that can help. Thank you for making this video and I’ll order one of these ASAP and try it for myself.
"Because I'm pretty sure they're from the future" LOL
Love the enigma! Game changer for me and now I wear a gun everyday! Before it was just too uncomfortable to carry a gun.
How bad is the forward tilt/flop?
There's a lot of variables there, namely body type, (I have a big belly,) the previously mentioned positioning, and the type of wedge used.
@@avwillis5269 good to know. I was under the impression that we had to buy the Modwing separately. Thank you for your help.
I'm glad you mentioned kilts lol... I'm trying new things
As someone who wears sweats 99.999% of the time, this thing is a must!! i need one in stock!
I have the exact same set up, sans red dot. Enigma + PHLster Pro + P365xl. Love it 👍🏾👍🏾
I’m in my late 20s and consider myself still a pretty modern dresser.
How has it hold on for those five months? I’m thinking to buying one too
Is the enigma better at concealing, if so how much?
As with many youtube presenters
You have mastered the art of taking
5 minutes worth of information
And stretching it for almost 24
Minutes.
Yea.. something about that with so many gun guy vids..
loquacious bunch when airtime is free.
Like always something nice on this channel
I am seeing this holster constantly praised on social media. It really says something when you have the whole internet agreeing on something.
Great info - thanks! Sure wish that people would stop using FB and I wish there was a support group that could be used on a different platform
Any update on this?
@@markheischman672 Yes. Turned out exactly how I expected. Best conceal holster I've owned. Can wear it without feeling constrained by the clothes I want to wear.
@@armourbl awesome! Thank you!
Dude you’re beard just keep getting more epicer every video. So jealous. Keep rockin it.
This thing actually seems amazing.
Just get an Ulticlip for about $12. This thing is dumb.
@@XDWX ulticlip puts the weight of the gun and holster on your pants. That is a problem if you have lose pants or pants that simply can’t grip strongly, eg athletic-wear, scrubs, pajama pants. This puts the weight of the gun on the band on your body
@@XDWX
Yeah, uh. This is nothing like the ulticlip and the ulticlip can’t do what this does. This Enigma is ingenious. I like the ulticlip but this ain’t that.
@@0dayExploit I use an ulticlip with scrubs, sweats, shorts, dress pants with shirt tucked in, martial arts pants, and regular jeans. If you wear clothes that fit you properly its no issue. Most sweats, scrubs, and athletic shorts have a drawstring you can adjust.
@@pequaboy1210 I know this is nothing like the ulticlip. This is dumb and overpriced and the Ulticlip is not.
This is pretty awesome. Being able to tuck your shirt (for real), or wearing with pajama pants, or literally anything is awesome. Basically as long as you have a shirt, you can concealed carry.
Ever considered an ankle holster?
@@haydenbrayton for basketball shorts?
Even with joggers, you still run into size limitations, slow access, and potential comfort issues.
@@avwillis5269 There is no real good way to carry with basketball shorts. I was more talking about sweatpants/while at work.
I carry a full-size DA/SA every day with the Brave Response Vorn holster. Would recommend looking at it
EDIT: I carry the same gun in athletic wear, jeans, khaki work pants, pajama pants, etc
Just looked it up it's cheap trayush
When wearing sweats, I'd just strap on my gun belt around my waist with the gun (and holster) in the IWB position. That worked pretty well but I can see how this is an improvement. Thanks, Chris.
When in the shower, this is faster than prison pocket carry.
"Prison pocket" 😵
This was a really great video! And as a side note I’m glad to see Carson Daily still working.
Scam
I just bought one of these, (And the J frame holster that has the one had emergency reload feature.) I am looking forward to their light bearing Enigma that is supposedly coming out soon.
Seems like a light on a holster would kinda defeat the purpose…unless it’s a laser. Then it would be awesome!
My enigma is bicycle carry concealment options. I have never seen anyone talking about this. I’ve been experimenting for years & yeah you definitely dress around your carry. I hope this inspires a 💡...
Good to see more swampfox products. I love their stuff and their 40% military discount is fantastic
This also kinda reminds me of the Unity Clutch Belt, which is a band that you can put a holster (and other equipment) in
The clutch solves the safety issues of bellybands, this lets you fine tune the concealment on this in ways a clutch can't.
Right! No one cares about us strong side folk apparently...
@@matthewbeaver5026 Correct. We are the old folks of concealed carry.
You had me at “pants optional”.
This should be a template for gear review videos. Excellent work Chris. If I didn't live on the arse end of the planet I would have had one months ago based on the review.
Reminds me of my hernia brace... Last year I wore that damn thing for the entire muggy season of "Hell" that is both summer & fall here in South Carolina, (aka 2nd summer or the devil's double tap). Ya know... something like that kinda looks like it would've helped with holding my hernia in, at least before & just after the surgery. A gun belt for folks with hernias? 🤔 "Handicap Holsters"!!!
Excellent review. You are one of the best reviewers on RUclips. As for Philster..they are out of stock on this new type holster and do not sell holsters for CZ or for my XD MOD 2 45 SO no thanks.
When I first saw the title my brain read "The Pants-less Holster"...
I respect your honesty Chris
Phlster makes the best holsters, the floodlight makes my subcompacts irrelevant, #fullsizelife.
This holster system seems to solve the issue of using a public restroom.
The beard screams levergun video, but the title says otherwise.
Edit: maybe a Henry axe in it?
Thanks for such a articulate and well done review. It helped me decide on whether I want to purchase this system.
since you mentioned backflips at the dance club I assume you were implying it's practicality for the law enforcement market?
Excellent review, the first I've seen on the Phlster that persuaded me to seriously consider it. Most review videos babbled on for 15 minutes without saying or demonstrating anything to make it seem like more than an overengineered and fussy novelty, like a spring-loaded forearm doodad for a derringer. But now it seems to make sense.
Looks like a great idea. Can we see if for someone that has a muffin top and carries outside the waist.
Great video! Thank you for the insight. I'm going to give it a try as my first concealed carry holster. I'm always in gym clothes so I think it'll be perfect for me
I better see pants optional testing. That being said I been looking for something like this for my bed gun.
Aimee loves hers!
As a dude who occasionally wears a skirt in the summer, this is the video for me.
@9mm Weiner it's all about that BallBreeze
LMAO at this.
Me Too!!! But I call it a Kilt!
Great review and I’m interested to add it to my collection. Anyone who carries every day definitely has a collection.
So the "leg leash" is basically just like the tie-down on a cowboy holster...
The backflips at the dance club comment was the best part. Good job!
The leg leash might cause problems on commando day. Which is every day.
There is a hack for a diy gutted paracord leg leash that is more comfortable but honestly I don’t find the leg leash to that uncomfortable against bare skin.
Just dress to the opposite side.
This is really excellent because I only ever wear a bathrobe so now I have a good solution for cc
Can we all take a moment to appreciate Chris's beautiful beard win?!
Great review on an intriguing product! Great to know that there is a mod community, and other nerds like me who want to turn it into a ‘Bat’ belt.
You had me at Kilt.
Pants optional? James Reeves can finally wear those satin Daisy Dukes he's had his eye on!
On the website it does come with a holster specifically for the gun u own
Kilt holster! Aye!
Lucky gunner thanks for the honest review. It's informative
I carry without pants as well. With the cost of lube to safely prison carry, this thing will pay for itself in a few weeks.
Dude.
In that case..i will have to use a micro pistol. I'm still cherry..as far as you know
