    The fact that any company would offer reasons for NOT buying a certain product of theirs is pretty awesome. It seems like the people of PHLster are very honest and helpful. I thought I was the only one who is willing to sacrifice some concealment for other aspects. Then again…. I’m trying to conceal a full sized 1911 AIWB and I’m not exactly a massive guy in terms of stature. I’m 5’8” and about 150lbs. I do think I will be trying an enigma when I do grab a Glock. I often just bum it in sweatpants when I run around town errands and I don’t know of any other solution if you wear athletic sweatpants or lounge pants.

      Kinda seems pompous and snobby, like if ur not ready for the best carry system, phlster enigma might not be for you, unlike all these cool ppl who use it everyday because they are so cool and you are clearly not. I think they don't want to deal with dumb customer service complaints and I get that.

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 Год назад +13

      @@mattysee24 Man that chip on your shoulder looks painful. I knew why she wrote the article without even reading it, the enigma has been gaining some momentum and with that momentum there is a risk that customers buy the system on hype instead of on need. So the best thing they can do is put out information that might lose them some customers, but may solidify the decision for others. It's not pompous at all, it's a smart choice to err on the side of caution so as not to introduce some negative feedback into the loop from customers who bought in based on hype.

      You can use a webbing belt of some sort and a holster with a DCC clip. You put the webbing belt on first, pull up your gym shorts or whatever then clip the DCC clip over both the belt and the shorts. You can also just clip onto the belt, but then you have to make sure you tie the drawstring just right so that it stays in place. I used to do this with my P365 and it worked decently well, could even go for a jog without much trouble. But it can be uncomfortable, and it's finicky to get right. The Enigma can allow for a much larger pistol, and it's also much more secure. A big appeal for me is that I can actually tuck in a shirt if you need to dress nicely for an occasion.

    I like my Enigma but only use it in the summer when wearing shorts and stuff. It's definitely the best solution in my opinion if your wearing clothing that doesn't lend itself to wearing a gun belt.
    When it's cooler and I can wear jeans I prefer a standard iwb belt holster.
    To sum it up use the right holster for the right situation and the Enigma is the best solution for summer wear, aka shorts, sweatpants etc.

  • @blackstarbucks

    The enigma honestly changed concealed carry for me. I cant wear anything else, & now I carry everyday because it comfortable. Previously I accepted cc was just always going to be uncomfortable. I would pick & choose when to carry which defeated the whole point of carrying.
    I recommend this to everyone I talked to about carrying. This replaced multiple holsters for me & now I never dress around my firearm (cz p10c).
    However over the past two years or so with my enigma Ive made quite a few modifications, its at a point I only feel the weight of my firearm but am never obstructed by it. I can easily carry 8+ hours with no discomfort & often times if I know I will be going back out I wont remove it even at home. Its a massive game changer and takes time to get it perfect but very worth it. The first month or so of ownership I played with different adjustments to get it just that much better, I feel like now its absolutely perfect.
    The belt used to cause me chaffing over long periods & other hard points. The levo designs papoose solved that issue for me well worth the cost
    If I wore loser clothing (sweatpants & running shorts) I found occasionally the leg leash would come undone after about a year of use so I decided to replace it & try a 3rd party. Rego concepts leg leash was a absolute game changer for me & solved a comfort issue I didnt realize I was having
    I placed a sock on the underpart of my holster with a rubber band & that helped with better concealment & made activity's much more comfortable (papoose also helps keep that sock in place). And amazon has some softtouch self-stick pads that work wonders on the sweat guard portion oh my holster
    Investment is step & theres definitely a adjustment/modification portion however this rig was a 10/10 in my first few weeks of usage & now its easily a 15/10. This one holster has replaced 3 for me, I no longer dress around my carry I pick my outfit and go.

    Wonderful moral integrity. To give prospective customers reasons why your product may not be for them, for everyone and to give clear explanations as to those reasons is admirable and respectable. After having examined the PHLster system the only reason keeping me from investing in one is that my state is not issuing carry permits. Should that ever change and I am issued a permit I will be investing in a PHLster system. I need not name the state that I live in but I congratulate you on your integrity and bid you a fond Aloha.

    This is also a brilliant marketing move because it reduces the number of buyers who could leave a bad review essentially out of a sort of miscommunication. For instance a parent who buys a game for thier kid to be cool but has no idea what genre they like or even very distinct sub-genres.
    Might be going to this as a solution fpr a full sized or even just to help me get running again as I got out of the military and the place I'm in now is honestly not the best statistically speaking and I hate running on treadmills lol.

      Comfortable appendix carry is more about what you know, and less about the gear you have. Once you understand the principles behind what makes appendix carry comfortable, navigating gear selection becomes a lot more simple. Selecting great gear is still an important part of the equation, but without the knowledge to apply comfort and concealment principles even the best gear may not work.

    At first this seems purely altruistic, but on second thought there may be a good profit motive behind it. It may head off returns by unsatisfied customers to be sure the customers are likely to be satisfied before they buy the product.

      Most users are successful with the stock leg leash, but there are aftermarket options available for those looking for different materials, thickness, buckle, etc.

    I own and enjoy my PHLster Enigma; I will be buying another one shortly. But this video and the related blog post almost rise to PUA-type emotional manipulation. Your product is wildly successful *and* you should continue to improve it so that many of these "reasons" are moot.

    • @PHLster
      @PHLster  Год назад +2

      A lot of these reasons aren't easily surmountable, especially the stuff which has to do with issues of medical appliances and conditions. And some of it is just, "don't buy a two seat car if you have four kids." And the issues of complication and frustration are solved by the Enigma Express. Most of this has to do with the Standard and Light Bearing models which require assembly.

    #1 Learning Curve: if you can't handle learning how to use the PHLster Enigma, you're going to REALLY enjoy handling a firearm.
    #2 Don't Have a Reason to Try: If you're considering the PHLster Enigma, you most likely do. Who actually stumbles on PHLster without trying? There's many other results that populate first for "Glock Holster" or "Sig Holster"
    #3 Sensitive to Frustration: Welcome, children. Man up.
    #4 Prefer Ready Made: Same arguments from #3 spilling into a new bullet point.
    #5 Tight Budget: Legit point.
    #6 Health Concerns: I can position the PHLster at 12, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11 o'clock. I can strap it horizontal across my chest like a sling. If your body cannot accommodate this holster, you probably just need a longer strap.
    #7 Need Discreet On/Off: Legit point.

    For reason #7 - If you need to remove your gun on / off a lot, I would just leave the Enigma attached to my body.

    This system is great for work when you have to have your shit tucked in, its hard to iwb carry when it's attached to your belt line and you have to tuck your shirt in.

    I've been... Not underwhelmed, but there's some issues I have with it. For one, it's the one and only holster I've used that absolutely pinches the shit out of me. Often it's my right thigh, but other times it's straight up on my dick and hurts like hell. The leg strap is also garbage. The original model was unusable, but the new one is barely better. I understand there's upgrades and additions, but that shouldn't be necessary. On a long road trip these past few weeks, I constantly had my leg leash come loose. What's more, it just doesn't conceal as well as my sidecar holsters. The ONLY reason I'm keeping it is that during the two months of the year where it's hot here in Washington, I don't want to stop carrying my Glock 17 with a light just because it's warm. If program compliance is the name of the game, I suppose that alone was worth the $200+ price tag.

    #1 reason I would not buy a PHLster holsters is no customer service. Any company that still doesn't have a call center is shady.

    • @PHLster
      @PHLster  9 месяцев назад

      We don’t have a call center because in the 13 years I’ve been in business, the phone has consistently been the worst way to help people. All of our service interactions wind up requiring sending pictures, videos, and links back and forth, because it’s basically impossible to give people real help with their gear and concealment over the phone. Our support team is extremely responsive to emails, frequently including weekend and after-hours replies, and we have tons of helpful resources for all concealed carriers here on RUclips, as well as in the Concealment Workshop Facebook group where Sarah and I (the owners) and our entire staff participate and help everyone with full transparency. Everyone knows my name and my face after having started this business by literally giving away Kydex techniques which used to be kept secret right here on this RUclips channel. We couldn’t possibly be further from shady. Sorry we don’t have a phone number.

    I need to say this: As a member of a minority group and also a new gun owner, I've spent MANY hours looking for a way to supply myself WITHOUT giving money to right-wing causes. This company's name came up as a good solid choice. Once I finish this video, I'm buying the Enigma system. It looks perfect for a small-framed individual. After cancer treatments, I went from 170 down to around 134lbs, so it's difficult to conceal carry. Great and honest video!
