The too stiff a belt mistake is so true, noticed this when I switched from a kore belt to the tenicor zero belt. Both are great belts but the zero gets the nod for AIWB for the same reasons as stated in the vid.

The part talking about how you need a longer holster for shorter guns was eye opening. For summer carry I switched from a glock 17 w/ a 507c and tlr1 light to an HK vp9sk w/ a rmrCC and tlr7, and I've been wondering why it's been more uncomfortable to carry the HK than the full sized Glock! The smaller gun keeps titling forward, will try to see if a holster meant for the full VP9 is more comfortable.

I just stumbled on y'all's videos, and they are incredibly helpful.
Comparing the hip-to-hip distance to the height of the gun is a great way to look at #6. Curiously, I'm somewhere between 40% and 50% depending on where I measure my hip bones...but somehow I am able to conceal with minimal grip printing. I did recently add a 1 inch wedge, which increased concealability and comfort drastically. Other than that, I would guess having the extra keel from a weapon light, the right belt and belt tension, and a relatively flat gut are probably what make that possible.

I use the Tenicor Velo4 appendix holsters exclusively and I pair them with either the Tenicor Zero belt or the GrooveLife belt and for me, my body type and the pistols I carry, this combination is fantastic! When wearing gym shorts or running pants I’ll use the Mastermind Tactics specialist belt with my Tenicor holsters and it allows me to get a very comfortable and secure carry method while wearing clothing with no belt loops. The keel principle is very important. I recently changed from a P365 to the P365 X-MACRO with a red dot for EDC and it's actually easier and more comfortable to carry the bigger gun. I have Enigmas for both, so the holster system was apples to apples. I may get a P365 XL holster for my P365 to make it more comfortable.

The keel discussion, belt stiffness, and width ratio were eye opening. I’d seen the keel info before from older vids, but it was a good revisit. The question is where to measure “hip to hip.” Easy to vary by an inch or more depending on where you consider your hip, which can change that ratio by quite a bit!

Something to consider: A small wedge helped me with printing by keeping the grip closer to my lower abdomen. The problem is that the grip is soo tight to my body that the initial contact and purchase on the weapon is much more limited. The initial thumb grip deep into the beaver tail in particular.

I'm shaped like a 12x4 board, with nearly square corners to match. It's always been an extreme pain to conceal even my Shield. I fell like it's blatantly obvious to everyone, just from my discomfort if nothing else, that I'm carrying at the front. Wings, wedges, holsters, doesn't matter. I can always glance down and know exactly where to top of the mag and grip are on my shirt. Especially summer, I'm in the give up category. Winter is easiest with sweatshirts, jackets, coats.

Okay, so I have a question for anyone who carries appendix. Do your sights dig into your stomach? I have a a good bit of belly, and wether I carry my gun high up ie. rear sights above my tactical muffin top or low, ie below said pooch, the metal sights irritate my stomach. Not enough to cause me to change carry positions, but enough that it’s red and itchy by the time I take my gun off 12-16 hours later. Any suggestions? Do I need to get a holster with a wing?
Edit: P365XL w/ macro mag, in a bravo concealment holster.

@PHLster i have a critique after wearing this for about a year 5-6 days a week. 1. can you make the belt a strong elastic , i feel like that would make it more comfortable so the belt can stretch with elastic and move with the body like if i squat to pick something off the ground it stretches but when im standing it stays tight and when im sitting it stretches also just like any elastic belt. 2. the leash should also be elastic and be able to stretch because im 5'7'' but my thighs arent thick so the leg leash slips down and you can see it sometimes hang out my shorts. and if i tighten the leg leash it constricts when im standing upright.

    • @PHLster
      @PHLster  10 месяцев назад +1

If the elastic is softer, and if the leg leash is elastic, then there’s a substantially increased probability of the holster moving vertically quite a bit when you draw the pistol. These two elements keep the holster anchored in place during fights and other strenuous activity. We tested it both ways, and found it to be substantially less safe, reliable, and durable with increased stretch in the system. Check out the instructions section of our website for more tips on leg leash adjustment to prevent the issue you’re having.

wow! just found your channel. i was going to ask if you were old enough to own a weapon. you said you and your husband, so that answered that question. now, appendix carry, in my opinion is slightly to the left or right of your middle.(being a guy, i am not pointing that thing towards my johnson) i carry an LCP 2--22 caliber every day. even in Florida i wear long baggy shirts, or a cover garment. i can ride my motorcycle with my pistol in appendix, and sometimes forget i have it. neat video, folks do need to figure what size, caliber of gun for proper concealment. just because someone says you need a ,44 magnum doesn't mean you can carry concealed properly. you have to be able to bend, turn, and function as if you are not armed. well, i have rattled enough. good video.

I’m trying to find good wedges. Based on the shape, I was going to see if bra padding or inserts would work. Has anyone experimented with this?

No experience with that, but Tier 1 has some good wedges!

I'm 5.10 215 lbs how do I keep my gun from butt/grip from poking out. I've tried all different ways and use a golck 19. Do I need looser clothes or just to loose weight. 😆 🤣 😂 but for real what do I need to do.

And then check out the rest of our related videos and the PHLster Concealment Workshop Facebook group. You'll probably wind up needing to add a wedge to your holster.

I will say this, appendix carry is naturally going to be easier for most women, so as a male I was able to take a lot from this video

A little too obsessed with printing aren’t we. 99 % of people don’t even care. They don’t know what they’re looking at.

“Hope nobody notices” isn’t a transferable methodology for eliminating the signature of a pistol. Betting that nobody notices isn’t a way to actually be in control of the visible presence of a pistol.
