I really like the videos where you break down and process the random stuff, not just the big wire. The wire is awesome, don't get me wrong. Like when you did big electrical boxes that had the big bars of copper in them, that was great stuff to watch. Thanks for the entertainment!!
🎯To answer your question about the metal flipping with the cast and the sheet more people are using sheet now and they're using less cast. A good example is do you remember those portable outdoor grills used to always be made of cast aluminum they don't make them anymore out of cast aluminum. So it's a supply and demand thing. 👍
I’ve gotten a good bit of the cheaper led fixtures out of my storage unit dumpster. Apparently there’s a lighting guy in there somewhere. Can’t beat free extruded and cast I got .42 a pound for old sheet aluminum here last week in ms.
So I picked up about 400 Erikson construction high bays. The yellow steel case bastards. I’m through about 25 and haven’t found a single copper transformer. They seem to be all 400wat aluminum trans. Have you come across these before ? This is the first time ive done this style and worried it’s not gonna be worth stripping them all. Screws are all rusted they all have to be grinder cut 4 times. Luckily I didn’t pay for this load. What do you think. Should I give up on stripping them ? Take the power cords and send the whole pile I’m for shred value? I’m 99% sure that’s the route I will go but god dam what if even 200 are copper 😮
That sucks! And yes I've come across this before. Cheeper light fixtures sometimes come from the manufacture with all Aluminum transformers. When buying large amounts of the same style I like to take a few apart onsite before buying them to check. If you can get them out and sell the TX's for e-motor price and get cast al for the housing that what I would try. Some yards started checking the coils on the TX's now so that might not work. Why would they not give you Iron/Aluminum price for them?
@@ProjectShopFl luckily I didn’t have to pay for this load. Hence why I didn’t rip one apart before loading up. I’ve done this brand before and found copper transformers. But the cases on those ones were white. So I’m guessing white. Copper. Yellow housing aluminum. Unfortunately the cases are steel on these ones so no cast pay out for this load. The yards I deal with pretty much all said they won’t bother paying a aluminum steel mix price. I’ve noticed the farther away from the coast I’ve moved the less the yards will deal with mix and secondary pricing. easier to shred everything steel and just buy everything els straight i guess.
I made a video "How to make 900 per hour scrapping copper transformers" I did a nice breakdown at the end you should watch. I pay around .30-.40 per lb for copper and can pay more if I had to. AL-TX I pay .08 wether they have copper or not. Most of the time one coil will be copper so if you get a few all AL ones it still works in your favor. I will be doing a video this week on AL-TX so look out for it. I got a big pile of them. lol
@@ProjectShopFl thanks! I’m gonna go lower for a few of these contracts . They have been giving them away for free to people . But I want to secure them by offering to 💰

I have some videos coming tat you will like then.
New guy seems to be doing well, keeping up with you pretty well on the transformers.
He is a good worker and we work great together. He is old school like me and a great addition to the shop.
Love watching you scrap it all
Thanks Judy
Nothing slows down production like every thing being different . Stay dry and safe
Yes! It cam be quite tedious. lol

Thanks for the info that make sense. I guess its easer to bend sheet metal than pour melted metal.
Appreciate the extra upload this week! Keep ‘em coming if you can!

Do you pay scrap steel price for transformer? Double copper? How do you price them if they are half copper half aluminum? Or all aluminum

You need a hammer mill
I know, I've been wanting one since I saw MBMM run transformers through his. lol
@@ProjectShopFl That's where i seen it, 24x36HDs are awesome
