    I remember as a schoolboy watching Asif Iqbal bowl for Kent. At first sight, his bowling (medium pace swingers for the most part) looked innocuous. But he was a clever bowler. He varied his pace well and used the crease to change the angle at which he bowled. He was accurate, too. He knew what he was doing! All his bowling attributes can be seen here.

      Mudassar Nazar should not have played at all in 1979 world cup. In 4 matches he scored 3 runs and took just 1 wicket. He was a dead slow defensive batsman not suited to the one day games

      @@bhattgirish7321 Mudassar was a batsman who only relished slow wickets and scored heavily in home series against medium top slow bowling. I am surprised you have not mentioned the names of Asif Iqbal and Majid Khan among legends. Majid scored 530 nuns against the fearsome West Indies attack in 1976-77. Asif Iqbal scored 2 centuries against Australia including Dennis Lillie and a lion hearted 135 in the final test against West Indies in the same 1976-77 season. Majid also has the distinction of scoring the first ever ODI century a belligerent 109 of only 93 balls in 1974. I am from Pakistan but Mudassar as a batsmen is no where near Zaheer, Asif, Majid or Mushtaq in his prime

    Zaheer played one of the greatest World Cup innings ever seen against a fearsome pace attack. Pakistan
    Should have won but for the blunder of sending harpoon who consumed 36-40 balls to score 10 runs.

    Haroon Rashid had failed miserably in England on the 1978 tour and this time he was the reason for Pakistan's loss. Miandad still played as if there was no LBW law against him. Wasim Raja was dropped for no apparent reason when he could have played in place of Haroon - a better batsman and a decent spinner. Later Asif Iqbal mentioned how he was about to change the batting order when Haroon Rashid just walked out at the fall of Zaheer Abbass and he decided not to call him back

    • @atherqadeer2570
      @atherqadeer2570 2 года назад

      Asif should have called back Haroon and come out to bat himself. Asif with his quick silver running and wide range of strokes could have steered Pakistan to victory since Majid was well settled at the other end. Miandad in the earlier match against England also got a duck on both occasions he was plumb LBW. Raja has given good support to Asif in the match against England. They added 52 at a stage when Pakistan was 34 for 6. its a mystery why he was not selected for the semi final. Haroon's selection in the first place and his slow batting cost Pakistan the match

      Majid rotated the strike all day. Ridiculous factually incorrect comment after Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbass added 166 in 36 overs. Majid Khan"s average in all Test Matches and World Cups vs West Indies with Roberts and others is 51. This is over 9 matches with only 2 tests in Pakistan in which averaged 34 with one hundred and one run out. West Indian fast bowlers said the biggest dangerman was Majid Khan an getting his wicket was what they wanted.

The decision to send Haroon who should not have played in the first place cost Pakistan the match. Asif has regretted his decision to send Haroon many times.
