I have to insist, drive and connect with what you have, before succumbing to the purchasing bug. Cultivate the FUN of connecting with your rig, trying difficult lines over and over till you get them, or understand what prevents your truck to achieve said line. You can engineer obstacles, adding or subtracting so your rig can make it, ultimately you can also engineer your rig to become more capable but you have to do it fully understanding the effect that changing x/y part will make. The biggest improvements to your rigs’ capability is throttle control, tire placement, line selection, things that improve practicing and having FUN. The component that will impact mostly performance, is wheels and tires. Dont go crazy buying stuff “Shotgun” style, hoping they will improve your driving, connect with what you have, do home mechanics/transformations, understand well the capabilities and limitations of what you have. Dont get caught up on tech and brand talk, let your driving do the talking.

Good advice. As a noob, it was super fun figuring all of this crap out and since I run 1/24’s, I could make a lot of parts to try stuff out. Too fun! Hope you have a great day!

2 steps forward may have a step back. That's what I always have to remind myself. If I do 2 or 3 things at once I may have a hard time figuring out which one was the bad one

Great Build Logan , I’ve personally built 3 LCG Belly Draggers ranging from an expensive TRX4 Portal build to a very basic AR44 axle based Cheater to a spare parts bin build that performs almost as good as the other two , I’ve run a very similar setup to Your New Rock Pirates / Vanquish / build and It can hang with The MOST EXPENSIVE LCG cheater rig / sometimes spending the most won’t get you the performance or feel You want from your crawler ! This is a really good example of not breaking the bank and having a solid performing Rig , well done brother 🫅🏻 looking forward to the next upload already ✌🏻

I put one of these chassis in purple under my fordyce with the axe system. Loving the build. I was able to drop the fordyce body right back on it. Total sleeper! Getting ready to build the f10t clear axles I got in TOF tonight. They’ll complete the build with some dravtechs. Oh and limited edition purple methods with purple delta rings! “ Chefs Kiss!” Lol

Awesome build man! I think I might run with this idea. Except with a different electronics setup. Most likely a Holmes Puller Pro Stubby with a mamba x, new mamba micro x or Copperhead 10 system. Although I do have a couple HobbyWing Fusion Pros I wanna try out. I bet that would be a great setup for a build like this. Too bad I gotta wait for a while. I’m currently in the middle of 2 builds and several other HookUps. My RockPiratesRC package just showed up today so that’s what I’m spending the weekend doing 🤘🏽💯

Hi Logon buddy. Well ROCK PIRATES ☠️ Have done it again. What a AMAZING well thought out product. Your truck looks good buddy really like the power wagon paint job. So cool using the VFD TRANS and phoenix Axel's. I love the position of the motor and the skid plate perfect with the phoenix Axel's. GREAT build really looking forward to watching it perform. Take care 🇬🇧🇺🇲🕊️🤩👍🏼✌🏼☠️

See I have the interceptor chassis. I’m running the Amazon axial 3gear trans with the rip off hurts vp dig unit. Now the skid plate cannot bolt in the way they want I believe with the motor facing the front. Otherwise your dig would be at the front axle.
I’m also running the HW 2in1 motor. Since the skid is flipping the motor crashes into the rear upper links. I took shorter links from an axial umg 6x6 and drilled new holes at the slope of the rail. To pull away from the motor.
-also I’m also probably going to run a healthy micro servo for the dig and mount it under the hardline bed with linkage.
-I bought the rock pirates chassis rail cross brace posts instead. So I mounted those at the very rear of the chassis holes to make up for the empty overhang. Another one at the inside end of their hardline bed instead of a element chassis brace. Then used the remaining two in between the shock towers and my upper shock holes thread into the braces nice cleaner and simpler look IMO. Currently brake/bending some front aluminum end peace’s so I can make a bumper. I choose boat side rock sliders with Velcro at the back of the cab. Think I want to do a forward hinge into the grill to resist using body pins.

Man I love the builds you do and the crawling vids. Its impressive how much you do and support the community. What size tires do most 1/10 scale crawlers run? 1.9 or 2.2? Am I getting the numbers completely wrong? I'm new to the sport of rc crawling and I've got a little Temper gen2 but I'm looking at building a custom rig in the next few months. I don't really have anyone here I can go to and ask questions.

    • @westdesertwheeler
      @westdesertwheeler  2 года назад +1

Thanks dude. The most common wheel size is 1.9” and for performance I would suggest a 4.75” tall tire. There are a bunch of options in that size 👍

Great vid and I have been referring back to it often. I am building a simular build and have a question. The element servo tray seems to be to narrow with the VFD skid in place. It doesn’t look like you had to shim it. Is your build wider at the trans and narrower at the front due to having to squeeze the front? Thank you in advance.

I have a Phoenix portal kit that I haven’t built. Was wondering a bit about building something more comp style out of the parts. But I already have a couple pretty competitive trucks and I just love how the Phoenix looks! I think it will be a nice trail truck stock. (For now…)
Definitely looking forward to running video and watching how you tune it!
Also, don’t forget it’s the last day for the Pirate Wagon raffle!!

I've got the rock pirates shock towers on the vs 4 10 chassis. that's a great option for utilizing everything from the Phoenix right away, but I'm waiting to see the builds thats use this chassis and have the OD and dig servos mounted for the twin vfd.

Prices change all the time so putting prices will just make the video incorrect in the future. Rock pirates are a very affordable upgrade route. I’m not saying anyone has to buy any of it. My trucks are bought one piece at a time. Other peoples budget is not my business just like mine is not theirs.
