Ur video is the best tutorial I've ever seen.. straight to the point.. very informative
Thank you so much man! I'm really glad you like it 😀
@@Drivenbymadness keep it up man.. I love ur video..
Мужик, спасибо. Твои ролики очень конструктивны, понятны и полезны! А главное - пригодились не один раз)
This video has inspired me to go drive my RX8 ;)
Awesome! I'm really glad to hear that man :D
thanks for all those videos :) Im a girl and I am going to buy mazda rx8 for my first car (I know, it might not be a good idea) and I am learning mechanics so thank you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My pleasure! Very happy to hear your enthusiasm :) Well, now i'ts the best time ever to own one, cause you litterally got a solution tutorial for almost every possible problem :)
So did you buy the Mazda rx8?
This radiator has been put throught the ringer since I installed it about a year ago its been as high as 110 here in southern California and I havent had a problem since, hope it gives you the same 👍🏼
Awesome! I'm really looking forward to see the same results :D
Did you get this exact KoyoRad (53mm version)? if you did, did you order directly from Koyo?
@@RotorGod29 I ordered it from Essex Rotary. So far, amazing cooling properties, on track day I last 4 times linger than with stock.
@@Drivenbymadness thanks for mentioning where to purchase. But I intrigued if the one that Nicolas has is also the 53mm version and where he got it in USA. If Essex Rotary can ship to USA, I will buy it in a heartbeat.
You scare me I've just got my alley radiator and cooling fan I ordered online on the Same day this video was posted 😱😱
Now that's what i call perfect timing :D
I had a Mitsubishi 3000GT and replaced the stock radiator with a Mishimoto radiator and it took like 30 minutes to replace. This looks like itll take like 3 days!! Haven't gotten my RX-8 yet but I'm excited to get one soon!
Couldn't have asked for better timing! CSF radiator from BHR came in yesterday :) ($250) fingers crossed for my old hoses and clamps.
And take it out 😂
and take out, to take it out 🤣🤣
And take it out, to take it out….. AND take it out 🗿🗿🗿
Damn bro sick rx8 cant wait to get mine i use to own one but engine failed so got rid of it i wana turn mine into a track beast
Thanks so much for the. Car videos they are of so much use 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much man, i really appreciate it 😊 Awesome!!! Best of luck with your project man 🙏
I like ur channel a lot but now I like it even more science I have seen that ur an initial d fan as well :D
Awesome 😁 thanks man 💪
I just bought a racing radiator and getting ready to install it on my RX8 channel
Let’s not forget...Take it out! Good video man.
WAY AWESOME VIDEO BROTHER CONGRATULATIONS 🍾 ON THE NEW RAD!! Have a great week!!!!
Thank you so much brother! Enjoy your week too :D
Wait a minute. Is that Chris Fix soapy water that you are using. Lol. Can't wait for the RX8 to hit the track.
I can't afford that, so i used whatever he already discarded in compliance with local recicling regulations :P Thanks! looking forward to it too :D
man those bolts came out with ease hellyeah
Never noticed how many things impeded radiator airflow! I.e. battery tray, airbox and the hood itself! Hood vents/ducting is mandatory.
That's true, just by installing a cold air intake you free up a lot of cool-off space.
Well that's a bit of work. However, awesome video for when i'm gonna change mine. Keep up the good stuff. Waiting for some track footage
just ordered mine for my s2, getting info for install :)
Best videos uploader all the time
Thanks! Hearing that means a lot :)
“Time to wet them hose” 🤣🤣
Hi Christian, I saw your videos before buying my RX8 in 2017. The Information you shared through your videos gave me a great confidence to maintain my RX8. I checked your both videos of radiator replacement and completed the replacement of the radiator. I have put all the hoses and clamps correctly. I have also a KS tools pressure tester. I am pumping the air but the pressure wont build. I have also used the soapy water trick on the locations of the hoses but i do not see any bubbles. I don't even hear any air leaking noise. It feels like the cooling system is absorbing all the air i am pumping. I have pumped for 10+ minutes but no pressure is built. What am i doing wrong? I do not have the koyo radioator or the silicon hose set. Mine is the stock system with an SPS radiator which is exactly similar to Mishimoto radiator.
Never mind 😅. Dumb me didn't care to verify if the coolant drain bolt below the engine was there or not before pumping air. I put the drain bolt and also tightened the other drain bolt on the radiator and the pressure built up immediately. I noticed that i too have a leak at the hose where the boot outlet of the radiator is connected. I need to fix it. Thanks for the detailed video and procedure to verify the leak. I appreciate your contribution to the RX8 community a lot.
@@krishna22021988 Awesome! Glad you were able to find the issue and fix it. Good job man 💪 Thanks, im really happy and honored to hear that 😊
@@Drivenbymadness I feel honored to get a reply from you Kristian. Yesterday, I took my car off from the jack stands after almost two months. Its an amazing feeling. Sad that RUclips wont allow pics in comments. Else I would have shared the before and after pics I had done some other repairs and improvements. In two days I have an appointment for the removal of rust. Hopefully, In a month, it will pass the strict roadworthy test here in Germany.
Hola me encantan tus videos y tienes mis likes gracias, me gustaría saber si después de montar el radiador, vuelves a montar los conductos de aire de la ecu y la batería? Gracias por tu atención
Great video
Thanks! 😀
what about the other hose that comes with the hose kit? did you need it or not?
awesome
Thanks! 😀
Can you make a video about real fuel consumption? Love your vids)
How many days to complete the procedure bro?
This is really good video... I was able to get my hands on a 53mm koyo radiator, it is on it's way as we speak. However, I've tried contacting Essex Rotary via e-mail, and on facebook about the special hose kit needed to make this radiator work. Since I have not been able to get in touch with them, i may have to make a custom kit from Auto silicone hoses(ASH); but wanted to ask you if you happen to know the diameter of the hose kit you bought from Essex Rotary? Their website does not list any dimensions, so any feedback you can provided will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
All that work and you kept the mishimoto fans? Respected sellers in the UK have atopped selling them as they are worse than stock in every way, I had them and have gone back to stock now
Thanks for your videos, helped me choose and start modifying my rx8!
I can’t get the hose kit you use, essexrotary doesn’t answer and I’m stuck 😭any other source for that kit? Thanks!
that's what I hate about those silicone hoses they are sooooo delicate and you have to have a really tight grip with those clamps on them but too tight and they will shred over time
Awesome video, bro😀
Thank you so much bro!!! 😀
Hi! Can you please help me?
I did remove the radiator fan from the vehicle, I have an other one used. How can i tested before to installed?
It would be interesting to see if you can improve your temps even more by moving the license plate out of the way, in my country for example is legal to move your license plate to the sides of the front bumper.
If I recall right the RX-8 has 2 small oil coolers on the sides. There's no good place for the license plate on the front of RX-8, but the middle is kinda the best.
@@danogh2227 I've seen pictures of rx8 with smaller side license plate witch does not obstruct any ventilation holes, you can find them on Google by typing "rx8 side license plate".
@@kiraf637 Those would be awasome, but the law may not allow for them in some countries, which sucks.
No. The front grille position is misleading, the air flow onto the radiator is not obstructed by the license plate. You'll see it clearly if you remove the front bumper and take some measurements.
Moreover, by moving the license plate to the side you can even partially obstruct the air flow on one of the oil coolers, if you don't position it wisely.
Sadly the licence plate position is the best position it can be on a stock bumper. The grill behind the licence plate is covered, which means it has no air flow. Relocating it where the oil coolers are js not good, as it blocks air flow there and most certanly not under the upper grill, as it obstructs the only air inlet for the radiator. So i would just leave it where it is, as it does not harm there :)
12:15 I've never seen a man cuddling a radiator before.
That's how you get it to perform better ;)
Hi Kristian, please let know us know the difference in performance and did the temp drop a bit? 🤓
Hi Kristian! my name is Joaquín, from Chile, I don't know who else to turn to. I own a Mazda RX8, my first car, I am happy with it. I am new in this matter so your videos have helped me and taught me a lot, so I am very grateful for your contributions to the community. But I have a problem that does not let me sleep MY RADIO DOES NOT TURN OFF! when the key is removed, the display remains on and when the button is pressed the radio switches on immediately. I removed the fuses according to the manual and nothing! I left the battery disconnected for hours and nothing! The display is still on. The last thing I did to the car was to change the interior lights to LED. Do you have any idea what the problem could be? Any comments are helpful, thank you very much!
Discussing matter on facebook :) I hope you are the same person ;P
I have a 06 manual. Which radiator do you recommend, don’t do track but summers in our region are pretty hot… Fitment is top priority there please recommend one
Hi man, love your videos. Btw, do you know where i can purchase a performance radiator for my 2006 S1 rx8 A/T.. I don't want to add a seperate cooler for my transmission. Koyorad and mishimoto have only for manual transmission. Thank You
Anyone know what to do with the two trans cooler lines on automatics? When upgrading to alumninum radiators, they don't have the two steel lines for those hoses. How do I go about "plugging" them or something?
My upper mount bushings ripped apart got any suggestions on where to get new ones or make new ones? Not sure what to do now.
Did you see any better constant temps with this radiator?
Need to know also.
Maybe start by relocating your number plates to improve the cooling.
There is no flow behind them
Thank you!
Great video , great job!
Is it possible to install it without additional hoses?
Thanks! Only the 53mm core koyo requires the special hose. Other ones fit with stock hoses :)
Can i have the link to the pressure test tool ?
Sure, i've added it in the description :)
Bro you make it sound so simple and easy or I'm just so lazy....
Quick question. Why was removing the wheel required? Dont understand that part
Mostly clearance, to have more space to work around tight spots.
Never did that part you’ll be without doing that
Hi, iam curious, why selected a KOYO radiator instead a MISHIMOTO radiator?
Hi, better fitment
What in the jimmy cricket is that garage, it looks like a shoe box
When I put my battery back in my car is running weird now
Nice video
How much did your temperatures improve? Will this fit stock RX-8?
Do you know where i could get one for the series 2 manual rx8?
Could you update the pressure test tool please? Nothing is found.
Here you go mate, UK link :) amzn.to/3G688JO
Hi. What are the maximum temps you have seen on your gauges? Mine are like 107 celsius on both, and it's usual not peak
On the track 105-107°C where I first went there without any cooling mods. Now with all the cooling mods under extreme drives I didnt go past 102°C
8:34 can't you just put the clamp on the hose and THEN plug the hose onto the radiator?
No, already tried it, it wont go on, the radiator body will block it as it will be too thick to slide on. The way i did it is the only way you will get it on ( you are free to experiment of course) .
Another a great install vid!! You are like the dj khaled of installs 😎😁
Aren’t you considering yourself to change your reservoir tank to aluminium one?
Of course, I already selected the one I want, just waiting for it 😉
The 5 people who disliked this video are mechanics.
is there any temp difference when driving it on the streets?
yes, it almost never comes even close to 90°
What does the radiator infront of the coolant radiator do ?
air conditioning radiator
Where did you earn all this knowledge?
once you know how things work, it's just a matter of bolts and nuts :D
Does this fit on the s2's or only first gen rx8's
I think it shoud be also for S2 manual. Contact Essex Rotary and get a confirmation.
Коуто👍
For sure 👌
IT seems very difficult
Yea...
@@lifeisabeach1 It's a very long process, but with a good guide, it can be pretty easy :)
@@Drivenbymadness yea bro,thanks for your support the rx8 comunity needs u :)
4:38 ... got eemmmmmm lool
Why didnt you use the mishimoto radiator?
Cause this one is better ;)
@@Drivenbymadness gonna get myself too then :D
The mishimoto one doesn’t fit well. Also mishimoto quality is not very good too
My mishimoto rad slotted straight in, quality has improved over last couple of years
@@Drivenbymadness how the bloody hell is koyo better than mishimoto when koyo is worse to oem ?
I see so youre an initial d fan...
You bet!
@@Drivenbymadness good to know :) Keep up the great content
if the first half wasn't from an earlier video this video would have been OK thats just lazy doing it like that as you still had to dismantle things
Seems like nitpicking to me. It's a mechanical tutorial, if he has video of the exact process, why not use it? It means he can take the time to make new videos of new processes.
@@rexham83 He used prerecorded video mixed it with the REAL TEAR-DOWN when he should have recorded the entire tear-down as HE STILL HAD TO DO WHAT HE TOOK FROM THE OTHER VIDEOS. so he saved 0 time and created a weird jumping from outdoor to indoor video instead of keeping it consistent.
I think that's absolutely OK to use pre-recorded footage, as long as the final video is seamless and understandeable.
Chris' editing is great, his videos are easy to follow and straight to the point, so why complaining for such a small thing?
I'll just leave a simple reply:
1) The car was already dissasembled from the previous installation, so using pre-recorded footage saved me A LOT of time, since i didnt have to REMOUNT everything, just to DISSASEMBLE it the second after. Why record something i did 10 times before, which is the exact same thing everytime?
2) A big portion of the pre recorded footage is unique, as it's the first teardown for the radiator with stock parts stll there. This allows for a better understading from a completely stock prospective. This was not possible with the current setup, do impossible to fime again/recreate. So this is why footage outside and inside is mixed.
3) The beginning might be a bit bad on the continuety (it bothered me a bit also), but if you follow the video, everything should be 100% clear, with no questions about the process left unanswered :)
