  • With the trout fishing season set to open up this weekend, I needed to refill my tackle box with a new batch of spinners. This video covers the materials and equipment needed to create your own inline spinners that can be used for trout and many other species.

    Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

    I’ve been watching these videos to see different styles because I want to make my own single hook inline spinners cause there’s really no big market for that. I want to make ultra light inline spinners 1/8 and 1/16 oz. This is hands down the most informative tutorial yet, thank you for taking the time to make this video.

    Was looking through my shed for something to make spinners out of. Had lots of copper but brass would be better, and it seemed I only had brass like old valves and such. Then I peeked behind a shelf and low and behold found the perfect thing. A kick plate one foot by 32 inches long and the perfect thickness. Came from an old school door I scavenged twelve years ago. It's old, and solid brass, not like the newer ones that are painted brass.Now to mark and dremel it up into pieces.

    Loved the tutorial. I am thinking about trying to make my own spinners for trout so I have been watching tutorial after tutorial gleaning info from all of them. I am hoping I will be more successful at trout fishing when I make my own lures rather than depending on spending $$$ on spinners that I end up losing (I am pretty awful at catching trout, much better with bass). I wil be watching more of your videos now that I have subscribed.

    Awesome video, thank you. Very well laid out. Bought a twistech years ago to make salmon spinners. It’s been buried in the garage. Dug it out recently to make some trout spinners. The insert you made looks great. The stock loops are a bit large for my taste. I try to crimp down the tag end with pliers to help keep from getting hang ups. Still using bearings. Sometimes I’ll use a smaller glass bead instead of brass for the bearing. Good stuff, keep it up.

    Man this was an awesome video. I bought some spinners and a couple wont spin up for some reason. What could be the problem?

    • @43degreesoutdoors34
      @43degreesoutdoors34  3 года назад

      It could be a few different things. First, make sure that you have the correct sized bearing beads and clevis is and that brighter are too tight on the wire. Some blades are better suited for spinnerbaits rather than inclines too. An example is some deep cup colorados that I’ve had issues with. The last could be the balance of a lure. You need to play with different blade-weight combinations until you find the sweet spot. Just keep trying new things and eventually you’ll master it!

      Doesn’t have to be. Just as long as it isn’t touching the hook you should be good. I’ve found the blade to weight ratio is more important that the blade to length ratio

    I am a Man of 80 years please send me a note about those treble hooks the make I did not get I know it is very impotent the MAKE of hooks and just so you know this video is wonderful thanks very much.

      Thank you for watching! I’m glad this could help out. The hooks that I prefer to use are gamakatsu round treble hooks in sizes 8, 6 and 4. Eagle claws 3x strong trebles are also very popular. Hooks are something I wouldn’t skimp on. Nothing worse than the fish of a lifetime getting off on a weak or dull hook. Hope this helps!

      I’ll try to do some more “how to” videos next year, but I don’t think gear is your issue. I try to find streams that don’t get fished a lot, pressure really affects trout. The hot stretches of stream also change throughout the year so keep experimenting. If you’re going to keep your catch, going with a simple night crawler with a sinker is tough to beat. Just find the deep holes and drift through it and you’ll catch ‘em. It can be frustrating but once you find a few honey holes it will all start to click. Feel free to ask any questions and I’ll try to address them this next season!
