I just like to watch this guy because I just feel like I am making a lure with him and I just love the progress from the beginning to the end is just so satisfying. Keep it up dude!
This episode was perfect for me. I'm starting lure making but I have minimal money and power tools. This helped me figure out how to fill the gaps in my tool inventory
I have just started making lures by hand with minimal tools and basic paint work and have been catching fish. So much more gratifying catching them with something that you made from scratch by hand.... awesome man.
Amazing work as always and great skill using all hand tools. Id love to see another one again. Love your insect lures maybe a top water giant water bug (a.k.a toe biter).
I subscribed and have been watching your videos for a while, you've inspired me to try bait making! It was a nice little gift for my father, who taught me how to fish
I usually don't comment twice, but I'm watching the video again. Quite a few people mentioned a caterpillar bait. If you decide to do that maybe try a Hickory Horned Devil, it's big, gnarly, can be jointed, and might test your skills getting the spikes.
I dont have all the tools u do but after watching this video im glad I have my one dremmel and hand saw. Thanks btw for doing these videos I never have to buy baits again and that makes me happy
I kept scrolling down to see when you stopped liking comments.. you are a dedicated man. 😂 Loved this video. I once tried to make a lure with just a carving knife and some wood I found. Didn't work too well.
I did that for the firstime i made a 20cm stickbait for GT.. And i use power tools after it become commercial.. You take me to great memories dude.. Thank you 👊
so cool to learn thats why that one has circle hook and tie down leads, when your ones with pliers have squares. really cool video man. you have some serious talent.
Thanks to Marling I made my first lure today. I just hand carved it out of a 4 inch block and then sanded out the lumps. My take on one of my favorite lipless cranks!
Good video as always Nate! Any chance you could explain why you use the certain type of wood for each lure? I'm not a woodworker so I don't know the pros or cons for different types 😁
Matthew Miller There are some lakes, in which you can only catch the cookie cutter 2 pounders with artificial baits. If you want to catch a hawg... you have to switch to live bait. They didn't get that big by being dumb.
I like every single one of your vids, you are like Bob Ross of the fishing lures world! Most respect for your work and dedication! Regrads from Brasil!
I am new to making my own and i have learned a lot from your videos. I hope to be good at this someday. Thanks for sharing with the rest of the world. The record sunfish is an amazing video. Top notch work...!!!!
I really liked this video because I could relate to it. I don't have any power tools and have made many lures in a very similar way as you did in this video.
LOL!!!.........DOH!!! Should've broke out the 'ole triple beam.....lol. If anyone still has one of those lying around. They really can't be beat for accuracy & durability. I know digital fish weighing scales for example, are all over the place, as far as "accuracy". Most of em actually suck. Many are terribly off.
Adventures with Frodo. Brother, I know all about the digital scales AND the analog scales on the market for the shop/house/laboratory, as well as for weighing fish. I have 2 sets of digital fish weighing scales right now, with the better of the two being the Gambler digital scales. But I also have a set of old-school analog scales made by Rapala, that I've owned since 2001. It works as good as the day I bought it 17 years ago. NOTHING can beat the durability and spot on accuracy for the work bench or laboratory as good old fashioned triple beam scales. Sad that hardly anyone uses them anymore. Sure, they take up space in the shop, but triple beam scales will absolutely last FOREVER, unless ya damage them somehow, and that would take an awful lot to hurt them. Ya just can't say that about ANY digital scales, for the work bench OR for weighing fish. Just like NOTHING beats the analog fish weighing scales made by Boga Grip. Boga Grip analog scales are the #1 recommended scales for weighing fish by the IGFA. ( International Game Fish Association ) The only downside to analog scales ( for fishing anyway ) is the fact ya can't see the tiny numbers and lines on a camera. That's why I LOVE my digital Gambler fish weighing scales. But will they LAST AS LONG as my analog fish scales by Rapala? I highly doubt it. I keep my Rapala analog scales in my boat at all times, just in case my digital Gambler scales ever go bad. I paid like $54 for the Gambler scales & I really like em so far, and they aren't cheap. Sure, the higher priced digital scales are better than most cheaper ones........anyone should know that. But electronics can and do go bad from age, HUMIDITY, dust, dropping them, etc. Even factory defects. But in MY experience with digital scales for weighing fish, MOST of them, even the higher priced ones, wind up failing before too long. Just look at all the negative reviews of all sorts of digital scales for weighing fish, including expensive ones. My Gambler scales have lasted longer than any other digital fishing scales I've owned so far. Plus you can cull fish automatically with em. But again, nothing beats an analog culling beam for money tournaments. I've owned several higher priced digital scales in the past myself.......that ALL went bad in a fairly short amount of time. They just can't take the heat, moisture & humidity. So far, so good with my Gambler scales though. I actually test my Rapala and Gambler scales against each other frequently........and they both work well and are accurate. I know because I also test them both on known weights such as 5 lb bags of sugar, 10 lb dum-bell weights, my 12 lb anchor, etc, etc.
And the world champion whittling award goes to Marling baits this is the first time I've ever seen any of your videos and I immediately subscribed and hit the ding dong
Awesome vid ,especially because newbies to carving/lure making like myself that are just feeling the water so to speak can see how to make a lure and have a go making one before outlaying brass for machinery ,well done ,really like your channel .
Please do more of these! As someone who doesn't have any fancy wood working equipment this is awesome.
When that spider came at you I was dying of laughter 😂
What time

I always feel like this guy is talking directly to me

good to see people around my age still interested in wood working.. warms the heart
Great craftsmanship. It's a pleasure to watch you work.
Got home from work, saw this video, and I just keep watching. Everything I’ve watched you build so far has been pretty awesome.
Your camera was using electricity
Jk lol thanks for the upload
The propane burner too. It uses a electric shock to get the flame going, haha.

When the spider scared you😂😂
18:59 there is some quality content 😂
Your content is so relaxing, watching you make lures from scratch is really awesome
I think it is substantially more rewarding doing things with hand tools . A real feeling of accomplishment
This guys is just Soo smooth with everything he does . It feels like Tony Stark in his lab . Amazing
Great job! I'm going through this RUclipsrs catalog and I have not been let down. What a great lure maker!
This lure

@James Bradford my buddy breeds those to feed his lizards. They make great bait if you don't completely pop them.
@James Bradford local reptile expo usually has them relatively cheap.
Cant under state how brilliant the simple v channel to cut the lip with was, hats off to you good sir

Love not just the videos. But the music 😁
This was just a recommended video for me. I watch you regularly, but a video from 4 years ago?!? Super sweet seeing no power tools!!
Great video, super cool lure you are really good at making lures even without power tools really impressive
Love the Avett Brothers! Thanks for doing this with everyday tools. Definitely inspiring me to make my own bait.
and the caterpillar at the end of the video would be a fun bait
A natural in front of the camera. Keep up the great work.
You could make your own bait company lol
I really enjoyed this. That the lure performed so nicely in the water is testament to your skill, experience, and instincts.

You should make an asian arowana as your next bait! The most expensive freshwater fish in the world being used to catch some other fish.
That is some top quality stuff! I think you just inspired me to make baits as a new hobby. Outstanding!
Please do a rattling lure.
Thanks to Marling I made my first lure today. I just hand carved it out of a 4 inch block and then sanded out the lumps. My take on one of my favorite lipless cranks!
What happened to that other knife?
Edit: Spider lure confirmed!
Nice job. There is a nice sense of pride you get from crafting your own things.
The music in the background when he speeds it up 🤣🤣🤣
You earned my subscription because there was a brief moment around 17:50 where the avett brothers were playing. 🍻
Good video as always Nate! Any chance you could explain why you use the certain type of wood for each lure? I'm not a woodworker so I don't know the pros or cons for different types 😁
Each type of wood is different in the water
I'm pretty sure it's just how strong it is and how buoyant it is
Now that is HANDMADE!!! and it looks 😍. Much respect
Good job man I never used electricity on my lures
I can't believe how much I have been enjoying watching you make baits. Been watching on and off since 8am yesterday lol Happy to subscribe for more

Make a bait out of aluminum foil that's really compact
Really nice work. About 40 years ago I used to make lures out of corks from wine bottles. I cut myself a lot and never caught anything on them.
