My favorite thing about micro lures is that you can also catch big fish with them, and the fight is usually more fun if you’re using lighter tackle. I was fishing for bluegill with a tiny minnow lure and had a nice sized bass strike it. My reaction time was a little slow and I missed it lol.
@@OperationBlueberryExpressI remember experiencing the food chain as a kid. Cricket, to bream, to giant bass that cracked my little pole. I liked bass fishing after that.
My buddy uses 32nd ounce crappie/panfish jigs and catches some real nice pickerel with them all the time lol. Like almost full grown ones. On ultralight tackle. It's an awesome fight.
@@bac1308 I just enjoy being by the water or on the water. I never really fish for one species. I’m a “fish for whatever bites” kind of guy. I’ll have live bait out while I’m working a lure just trying to catch something.
agreed a “making your first bait” step by step video would be awesome. i’m not very artistically inclined but i’d like to build my own bait other then tying flies
I was so thrilled for you when you did the second water test and it popped like crazy, that's awesome. My very first topwater of significance was a huge blowup on a Rebel Pop-R when I was a teenager. I did not land the fish, I didn't know how to fight a large fish yet, but I saw it jump several times with a mouth as big as my head, and that was all I needed for that moment to make topwater fishing special.
I'm a ultra light fisherman,, even going after big fish with a lighter rod , but pan fish is my favorite,, I wish I could afford to buy some of your lures, they are awesome,, I don't have a way to make them, after my wife died, I sold our house,, and live in a apartment,, I've been watching you for years , thank you for so much for bringing me so much joy,, and heart break every time you snag a lure ,,
Hey mate, just wanted to say. I love your videos. I look forward to each one day you do. You have made me want to start making my own hard body lures. I live in Australia and fish exclusively with lures, fresh water and salt. Lots of big fish over here!
Every time I see deer while fishing I catch fish. It’s like a connection with the earth or something. Lol. Whatever it is… I love it! Thanks for the video and great looking micro popper. You have a new subscriber from Alabama. 👍🏼
I haven't done any real ultra light fishing in so long it pains me. I can't get enough of your videos. Like a lot of folks here, you have inspired an old man into trying his hand at making his own lures as well. I live over seas right now and carp is the thing. Very slow. There are a few bass and pike. But lures are expensive. Thanks so much for what you. As for a different bait to make, how about a top water June Bug? Catfish at dusk will even come up to grab them.
love your videos! I actually started baitmaking once seeing you make them :) I made a jointed crankbait with a holographic rose pink belly and jet black top with silver eyes and it kills. Thank you so much for inspiring me to do this. Ive been fishing since 3 years old and I have never fished with such confidence before making baits. Thank you
I just copy-cated this for my first ever selfmade lure and gifted it to my best friend for his birthday. Thanks to your greate videos I not only dared making one but it turned out to be a very special present I was proud to give away. Thank you and I hope you don't mind me stealing your design.
You should make a video basically going over the beginning tools and things to get to start bait making. That's the reason I hear many people say why they don't start making baits, they don't know where to start.
I showed my gf that adorable scene with you and your son and I may be a father sooner than anticipated cause of you. Excellent vid tho mate, always love em and you inspire me to get on the water. Til the next bait!
HA! I lost you when I got a new phone but I've been here from the beginning. Love to see you're still pushing out quality content. And I know paper..........
Tungsten is not toxic. Exposure to fumes if it gets hot while machine might be an irritant but that it. It's a hard material and will dull your power tools easily. Just grinding out the dust will make your burr bit less effective. When we were young we'd make darts using copper tungsten because of the weight factor, hardness, and it's resistance to corrosion. Cheers. Oh, nice popper.
How about making a lightning trout. It's a super cool and colorful fish I used to dream of catching when I fished as a kid in California. My wife and I love watching your videos you have an amazing talent keep up the amazing work!
One of my favorite styles of fishing is "microfishing"... using a #17 trout hook, a baby split shot and the tiniest bobber you've ever seen, all on high-end 4# fluro and catching everything from red shiners to sunfish fry to tadpoles... it's some fascinating fishing, very accessible, and a look at a whole other layer of the freshwater aquatic ecosystem!
You could try a single hook on the back like a size 6 octopus hook or something similar, they even make some that come coated in fluorescent color patterns
Love this little guy. You know when you make these small little one day lures. You should make two at a time which would not add a lot of time to the build and if you lost one before you finish your fishing you have a spare one to use.
Ultra-light / nano topwater suggestion: A re-imagined jitterbug, could even be segmented with a feather tie on the back hook. Maybe it would look like a fly, wasp, or moth that landed on the water and was trying to fly away...
There's a lot of different forms to tungsten, most sites say it's safe but others mention carbides can cause irritation on different severities. Also can you maybe wear some eye pro in the paint room? A respirator too would be cool.
That plopping is 🔥 I thought the little rapala 7cm popper was the one when the fish are being shy or fussy but that is next level 💪 as always. 💯 Gonna try making one soon as this video finishes 😂 thanks again for awesome content
Yeah, I'd buy that. I love micro poppers, one of my favorite things to do on ultralight gear. They're not easy to find though, I only have a couple in my kit.
22:10 i learned from fishing small stuff its usually better to keep the rod sideways instead of up and keep tension that way and dont set the drag so strong.
Idea for next nano bait. One of my favorite small baits to cast around is a small just under 2 inch crayfish crank bait from the Walmart cheap bin. Usually a rust orange on the back and shiny gold underneath. It has alot of roll wobble and just a little crank to it. It is a slow sinking bait. Unfortunately it dosent dive more than a few feet. I'd like your take on how to make it dive deeper without making it sink like a stone
Hey man, we love your videos! Those riverside build to fish videos are some of our favorites! Would you consider doing a beginner's instructional video? My ten year old has made a couple baits, but would love to learn from the best. Thanks!
I live in the same area as you and crappies are doing good on small natural deep divers 10 feet deep. I use size 4-5 Berkeley flicker shad for the most part. Orange and black craw pattern or anything natural with gold seems to be fire. Water in the lakes is super clear for this time of year
I know everyone wants the Big Fish but I really enjoy seeing what is actually possible with micro baits
My favorite thing about micro lures is that you can also catch big fish with them, and the fight is usually more fun if you’re using lighter tackle. I was fishing for bluegill with a tiny minnow lure and had a nice sized bass strike it. My reaction time was a little slow and I missed it lol.
check out fly fishing. catching 3-8 pound trout on lures literally the size of ants

Yes to all of this please.
Just had back surgery.... I can't tell you how happy I am that you just uploaded this video! Thank you Nate
Undoubtedly the cutest popper I’ve ever laid eyes on
My immediate first thought was "that's a cutie Perch popper"
0:33 Chip looking at you like " you okay bro?" 😂
Killer little popper, love that paint scheme too! Came out sweet even with an eye bubble!
Literally makes my day each week. Thanks for being awesome 🕺💪🎣

I love micro/nano bait fishing. It would be awesome to see you make the smallest hard body bait you believe you can and catch a fish with it.
Nothing better than putting on some lure making from Nate while I tie up some jigs ❤❤❤ good way to start the day 🌞🎣
The more I watch you, the more you seem like the new era Bob Ross. Just super satisfying to watch.
You have so industrious! I remember when 11:00 AM was early for you to get started. Atta Boy!

I've been watching your chanel for years.. you still amaze me with tour talent.. great video! Thanks

"One day "🎉🎉 ,,, my favorite line to say when my wife ask me to do something or when things are going to get done around the house 😅
Yes so far my favorite paint job u done yes with them Lines really like that decision
Right on! I'm a huge fan of micro lures too, very enticing to Australian Alps trout.

Just started making my own baits a week ago and am now addicted this one was fun to make since it was small lol.
I love your channel thank you for your creativity and fun personality

Great lure 9.8/10, brilliant skimming of stone 10/10
My favorite videos of yours are the tiny baits!
Long time fan and I don't think I've ever seen you do a mole cricket. Would be very detailed and small but I believe in your abilities👍
Love the 'micro' baits. So much more practical where i live with trout around.
Just FYI Nate, 23:22 Those tall plants that have purple dapple/ mostly purple stock, with white flowers is, Poison hemlock.
Thank you so much you inspired me so much that I am getting into bait making, I am only 11 years old and have made my first micro popper like yours!
Another great day for a marling baits one day video
Loved the video. The nano was awesome. Enjoyed watching you hit the creeks with it.
that is my favourite bait you made so far i really liked this one
It's Ker-plook-al. Popper came out sick. 🤙 Let's see an ultralight 2.5 spy bait.

What a classic and beautiful bait man. Love how tiny it is!
Micro swim baits for mini creek pike that would be cool and a nice challenge
I enjoy seeing little baits catch big fish bigger does not always mean better
Wouldn't mind seeing you take a whirl at a rooster tail and head back to the trout spot!
I love the micro baits. This paint scheme is awesome!
I am on with making me one of these little beauties, as always good sir, one hell of a video 🫡
Holy moly Fin is growing fast!!!

"One day" you should do a vote for what kind of bait and what colors/details you do. Love the video.
I love seeing you catch a fish in the wild
The nano-popper was awesome! I'd really love to have one of those! I'd bet it'd be killer in the spring around the spawn.
Love the nano's! Would love to see a series of juvenile patterned nano's.
You could try a single hook on the back like a size 6 octopus hook or something similar, they even make some that come coated in fluorescent color patterns
Nice popper my man. By the way tungsten is a relatively inert metal. To say it's safer than lead would be quite the understatement.

Another flash back to why i followed this channel in the first place!
I really like when you build the small baits 🎉

Nice job on the catches, nettles are actually good for you, sting ,and all.
Micro sexy shad would be cool. But anything is good Nate!
