My "20mm" measurement of the sketch was wrong. I used a measuring device that displayed and numbered 2mm increments... not sure why I own this measuring device, but hopefully you found this if confused.
(Richard here) Suggestion: Carry your rod with the tip pointing backwards. You are far less likely to snag it as you walk and break the rod tip like my brother did to my fly rod in 1953.
I personally find the opposite to be true. I prefer to keep positive control of my rod tip and for lack of better words, sew my rod through gaps in the underbrush.
People say this but try walking through thick bush with a thirteen foot rod. Always on the tip always and put it through holes big enough for you to walk through. If you go tip back your basically carrying a big friggin snag point behind you for branches
@@dylanmounsey7515 Exactly, especially when you're fishing smaller wooded creeks or rivers. There's inevitably a giant briar patch that actively seeks to ruin everything you own as you duck under a fallen tree.
I will say I do this too! i think it matters what kinda area it is. def helps sometimes to not have to think 3 steps ahead and more so know what to avoid once you're past it. I do like walkin with my rod foreward tho if theres lots of early morning cobwebs/spiderwebs thru the trees, waving it up and down to try and knock em down so I dont walk thru em lol
Rod tip back, runners down, even if you hit a low branch it just bends at worst or if you're on the ball it tips back over your shoulder. Been carrying rods like this for nearly 30 years and never gotten snagged while walking
Thank you for always adding the suspense in your videos with the close up shots of the razor blade mm’s for your flesh. Really gets the people engaged. 👍👍
just like to thank you marling baits for inspiring me to make my own baits, I have been trying to tell more people about you on my channel, really like what your doing keep it up
The Q&A & cooking pizza was cool and adds an even more relaxing, down to earth vibe to your channel. I thought of something that may help (if you will consider trying it) with the joints between the front and rear halves of the lures. If the circles / loops are too big, use the tip of your blade to carve tiny grooves/slots where the circle touches the lure (on each side of the hole you drill). This will (should) enable the loop to be pushed in slightly more making the exposed amount of loop smaller. It will (should) also help hold it securely preventing it from twisting. I’ve never seen your joints twist in the drilled out holes so your glue is great. Anyway, I’m not great at explaining this idea, so please forgive me if it doesn’t make sense. 🙏🏽 Edit: the larger loops may actually help your lure glide better like you imagined as a possibility while thinking / talking about it in this video 👍🏽
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Been watching you for years. Never commented. Seen every episode probably 10 times. Just have to say sir, you deserve more subscribers. Incredible bait maker, great guy, and a family man. You put in crazy amounts of time for these videos. And your hilariously intelligent. Love the vids brother. Keep it up.
Best Q&A ever with the addition of Chelsea and pizza! Oh, and the glidebait was pretty cool too. Definitely agree, need to make a jalapeno popper and a superglue and baking soda bait (just wear a mask when working with that block)!
As a guy that literally placed an order for glide baits this morning, I sincerely wish this tiny glide had been an option. This is incredible. Long time subscriber, bravo!
I'm diligently working at watching every single video. I'm about 50 in, had to take a break to watch this awesome new one. I'd totally fish that little bait for the super aggressive green sunfish in my area.
I've been watching your channel for about a week now and these are the most adhd fueled videos I've ever seen. Its scratches my brain and inspires my creativity
I watch your videos every night before I go to bed lol even if you don’t have any new videos up I will go and watch your old videos that you posted months/years ago. Keep it coming! Love and Enjoyed it!
It’s Sunday morning. I’ve just sat down with my first cup of coffee and what do I get? A notification for a new Marling One Day! Good morning from Central Florida 🤙🏻
DUDE I love the build to catch videos. I can finally go fishing again tomorrow after being stuck in bed with broken ribs and a brain injury and I havent been more stoked. The videos are so awesome man! Keep it up
Great amazing video I love all your videos I watch every single one never miss one. This is a been a great video sharing your family with all your viewers.
If you ever create a series of micro hand made bait, I'll glady buy one. I think the facts that it is tiny could be good for any bait maker that wants to start selling in a bigger quantity. What do you others bait maker thinks ?
Totally diggin' that Spanish guitar music, thinking Zorro was going to ride in and catch you a "one day" fish! I also think your sweat shop idea is clutch! 🍻 Keep all the greatness coming!
dude you are freaking awesome I remember building lures out of clothing pins and also kitbashing old models i had to make some weird looking stuff back in elementary school kind of applied my love for warhammer and fishing
Four hundred and FIRST comment, wow, I feel like I may have made a milestone right here! I have been enjoying your videos for a long time now. I only watch them while I am work, because it seems appropriate 😀 It has been two kids since I last saw you take Chelsea for a wading trip down a ditch somewhere. May be time to get a sitter for the kids and hit the creek again. Thanks for what you do and looking forward to when the fish start cooperating some.
I just wanna say thank you for your inspiration. Your videos are awesome. I just barely started making my own baits...only about 6 baits in all active projects as I have not found a way to paint them yet (can't afford an airbrush) but making baits has sparked a new life in me and I just want to say thank you for the inspiration to start making my own. Keep making videos and keep making baits. Your awesome.
Paint with a brush, you'll have to adjust how the paint schemes look but that's what I do. I just put a white base coat down of rattle can paint and break out the brushes. Yes your limited but at the same time you can make details the airbrush can't so it's a trade off, as most things in life are.
Sittin home, carving, painting, and learning how to cut an onion. All while watching Marling Baits. Only thing better would be fishing. P.S. buy a comb.
I love how Marling Baits never used to say "It's O'fish'al, be free." Then he said it in one of his videos and said it sounded dumb. And now it is his catchphrase when he's fishing. Still love your vids.
I just read that excess exposure to superglue fumes will cause a strong desire to make a narwhal lure. It’s just a matter of time now. Great video as always, thanks.
hello, great video, just a "little" trick for the pizza: 1) according to the Italian tradition, the pineapple on pizza should not be put. (who am I to tell you anyway) 2) the cheese to put on the pizza would be mozzarella (possibly buffalo mozzarella) 3) the pizza should possibly not be totally covered with cheese I respect you from Italy
That little lure is ridiculously adorable!🐟... I am surprised your phobia didn't kick in😆😉😁... That mug is amazing btw! Representing the 2%'r👊... Thanks for another entertaining video. It was especially fun learning, at the end, more things about you and your cute family🤗... Happy Sunday...
My "20mm" measurement of the sketch was wrong. I used a measuring device that displayed and numbered 2mm increments... not sure why I own this measuring device, but hopefully you found this if confused.
I think 🤔 it was good and it wasn't a failure
Pretty sure if you had carved details into the head you would have slayed 😂
had me confused, but simple mistake luckily not on something overly important haha
Nice cute little 40mm thing mate but it’s about as useful as tits on a bull 🤙
Videos with you answering questions should be a winter slow fishing time type of thing.

I'm selfish and commenting before I have watched purely to get the Marling Baits heart
well, it worked tho
🤣me too...
it was really nice to see the two of you interacting again. like the old fishing videos.
I’d pay to just watch this guy all day, you should do more glide bait builds
That's weird
It would be really cool to see you do a segmented electric eel swim bait!!!
I'd be shocked if he did.
That would be electrifying
I'd be all charged up for that vid.... DAD JOKERS! UNITE!!! 😜🤣
Talk about high capacity to be incredible. Hell I wouldn’t even mind if he charged for me to watch it. I’d absolutely be amped!
It would be cool if he did that. It would be really cool if he included a taser
Thank you for always adding the suspense in your videos with the close up shots of the razor blade mm’s for your flesh. Really gets the people engaged. 👍👍

Now that's what I'm talking about! That little bait is perfect, and the amount of detail you still get on something so small.

Your videos help cure my stress many days. Thanks.
As a guy that literally placed an order for glide baits this morning, I sincerely wish this tiny glide had been an option. This is incredible. Long time subscriber, bravo!
I'm 99% sure I would have lost a good amount of blood trying to make something so small. impressive man
I made a glidebait that's 2.5 inches long and did almost the same paint scheme. Yours is sick
finally a small lure!!! Love these builds!
same

It was really great to get to know more about you :) thanks for the amazing videos. I haven't missed one in over 2 years.
Also, thanks for not enjoying that pineapple pizza 🤣🤣
I’m liking these Saturday/Sunday morning uploads. Thanks Marling !
It’s Sunday morning. I’ve just sat down with my first cup of coffee and what do I get? A notification for a new Marling One Day! Good morning from Central Florida 🤙🏻
can we take a moment to acknowledge all marling baits jobs are water related, man has a passion in life
Probably my favorite bait maker and your video style is awesome keep up the good work
Launching the tail fin off the saw, finding it and saying “perfect “ was the most entertaining part of this video. Thanks.
DUDE I love the build to catch videos. I can finally go fishing again tomorrow after being stuck in bed with broken ribs and a brain injury and I havent been more stoked. The videos are so awesome man! Keep it up
Oooo I’m excited cause I’m a lifeguard and I’d love to make baits for a living! Can’t wait for what’s in store in the next chapter of my life

AMAZING DAY! Yesterday was prom, and today's my birthday and I get a Marling baits video!!!!
I’d pay anything for these tiny glides marling. They might be perfect for the ponds near me. I love what you do. Keep it up
Please do a googly eyed goldfish!! It would be cool to see what Chelsea could do feather-treble wise. I know you would do a gorgeous job on it, too.
Sunday morning, coffee and a one daaaayyyyyy!
I already thought you were and incredible bait maker but the fact you actually got that thing to glide amazes me
Looks like a beautiful day, hyped for the spring / summer MB videos.
Thanks for another great Sunday morning!
I love your guys vibe together🥺😂 I liked the ribbed one💀 can't put my finger on why🤣

Your channel is slowly growing into a cooking channel!

I bet that would be good with some smoked beef and jalapeño jam.
Seeing Finny grow up is super freaking cool, he looks so much like Chels!

Amazing video!! Don't care if you didn't catch anything!! It was an amazing lure make!!!

Bro this means so much, to get an actual response back from you 😎😎❤️🔥❤️🔥
Sittin home, carving, painting, and learning how to cut an onion. All while watching Marling Baits. Only thing better would be fishing. P.S. buy a comb.
This lure is adorable and awesome. I would buy 10 of these all in different colors
When I saw that tail fin go flying off all I could think of was that scene from Tommy Boy… “Nice distance” 😂. Keep up the great work
Really enjoyed the pizza and answering questions in section of this video I look forward to watching your videos keep it up
Such a beautiful bait again amazing work 👍
I actually liked the action! That will definitely catch fish.

The Chunker is a perfect name for it!
Awesome lure bait build, Marlin. Good luck next time fishing 🎣 with at build. Awesome how you make time with your family and have them in your videos.
Love that your logo is an M and B, super low-key but great design!
Wow I love how small it is I love it
Siting on the couch watching with my dog ,love the vids nate!
