The new double album is really good. It takes you on a journey as a real album truly should.
The Czar by Mastodon only is a gem waiting to be unearthed by you. One of their top 3 songs imo along with Hearts Alive and the Last Baron.
Ya I’m still waiting for him to do one of their 10+ epics, those 3 songs are godly and perfect for breakdown like this.
I've been begging for a decomp of the czar. such a frikkin masterpiece !!!
@@francesmourning4274 ya I’ve been disappointed with the song choices he’s made, they’ve all been good to great songs but he’s gotta do one of their 10min+ masterpieces, those songs are special and perfect for this type of thing
@@puppetmaster8551 yes. Czar would be great for him.
im waiting for last baron so much man, i want that more than anything
Troy’s vocals have evolved into molten lava I love it
The (double) album came out late 2021. I always knew Mastodon was one of my favorite bands, and this album may have made them my most favorite band.
One of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time. Start to finish it’s extremely rewarding.
My man's face when it comes to Mastodon songs sometimes. I love it.
Sleeping Giants and thìs mortal soil by Mastodon are brilliant song, you should give them a listen man 🤘🤘
The new Mastodon album is incredible and my favorite album of 2021. Pushing the Tides was an excellent radio single to get fans hyped BUT there are many, MANY other tracks that took me by surprise. Proof that Mastodon is one of the best bands of our time. You must check out other Hushed and Grim songs!
Couldn’t have said it better myself
New album is amazing and mastodon has the best discography in metal the last 20 years.
@@puppetmaster8551 true
There's so many songs on that album that I would love to see you react. More Than I Could Chew and Eyes of Serpents would be excellent choices!
The Beast through this track is a really great line up of songs.
"The Beast" might be my favorite song on the albums. The songs where Brann, Brent and Troy all take lead are the best.
@@mikeluque6527 I agree.
The Beast is an incredible track.
This is the most amazing album I've heard in years. Definitely check out Gigantium.
More Mastodon dude! Greatest rock band in history!
When you said "Ethereal metal" I immediately thought of the band ALCEST. I would highly recommend their songs "Autre Temps" and "Kodama" just to name a few. Absolutely gorgeous melodies and well written songs. Honestly they haven't written a bad song imo.
I just recently discovered that band on a “post rock” playlist on Spotify!!
Yes! Alcest is so good. Saw them in Grand Rapids maybe 5 years ago- one of the best, cleanest performances I've ever heard.
I'm still here. Mastodon is a special band, not enough creative groups like them in the genre right now. They're getting to be decomposers themselves after all these years, but still crankin' it!
Best album of 2021.
Awesome! The more Mastodon the better. Please consider doing the track Hearts Alive, from the album Leviathan. Again, that’s Hearts Alive. Did I mention Hearts Alive?
i would definitely reccomend "More Than I Could Chew" from the same album, its an intense song
Definitely
One of my favs off the album, which is phenomenal
Love that one.
That main riff is so good. The other parts are ok but that main piece keeps me coming back
More Than I could Chew or Gigantium off of this album will just blow your mind. Peace and Tranquility is another standout.
Giganteum , incredible
“Crystal Hallwork” sounds like the title of a Mastodon song
Hell yes! Always more mastodon! This new album is amazing
MASTODON!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 AWWWRIGHT
You should really check out Gobblers of Dregs or Pain With an Anchor from their new album. These are amazing tracks!
Gobblers of Dregs is glorious, best song on the album for me.
When I first listened to the album, "Pain with an Anchor" blew my mind. The way it sets up the new sound of this album. The emotions of it. So sick.
@@mikeluque6527 seeing the heavy ass ending of that songs live was glorious. That was vintage Bill riffage.
Gobblers is by far the best track on this new album. Not even close
Eyes of Serpents and More Than I Could Chew following in the distance
Absolutely the best band playing today. Troy's bass tone destroys. I love at 5:48 he's slamming on a big chord on the bass and holding it. As always, Brann's drumming is just stellar. And the amazing layering by Bill and Brent.
Saw them do this live in November. Their first show post-lockdown. It was incredible.
YES!!!!! thank you Geebz!! More Mastodon always!!! The Czar is a must do!! Any Mastodon will do but please...you will love the Czar.
Fresca is wonderful! Wouldn't mind sipping one while watching this video.
I love when you do Mastodon vids 🤘
More Mastadon! ALL of the Mastadon!
Still here! The album came out last year, 2021.
This album is fantastic! Gigantium is the closing track, one of my favorites. Glad you're checking out more Mastodon.
Top 2 Brent solo along with roots remain for me.
This is the best reaction channel on youtube in my opinion. You point out things in the songs that I didn't notice before, it is fascinating. You have a good ear
I'm still here! That was there newest album! Such a great mix of styles on that album, they all took time to shine!
Mastodon - The Last Baron
Thank you Geebz
Great song. 🤘🤘🤘
God I love fresca. And Mastodon is killer. Thanks geebz, great stuff!
Rush's "Y Y ZED"
Edit: The same Producer used on Tool's Fear Inoculum. The keyboardist plays with Les Claypool
I feel like their song “Stargasm” seized the title of Best Song to Airdrum to from “In the Air Tonight” - my suggestion for that reason alone
Geebz, the next time you want to do a big project for this channel, you should absolutely sit down and do Mastodon's _Crack the Skye._ Like, maybe the whole album. It would be monumental!
You already have so many people suggesting one of the many stand out tracks off the album, but I just wanted to chime in and say thanks for getting back to Mastodon! Truly one of the best metal bands that most would consider mainstream nowadays, and their members are so chill, so down to earth, and so freaking talented it's crazy (like seriously, Brann Dailor is one of my favorite drummers, and I don't even play drums!)
Love the vid, and thanks for keeping on, Geebz! Rest up with your shoulder, and hope all goes well with recovery.
Appreciate it, man. Keep on rockin'!
Hushed and grim is fantastic album, one of the bests last year❤️
This album is just full of great hooks, catchiest mastodon album to date I think
When you publish a video about Tool, Mastodon, SOAD and A Perfect Circle it's an instaclick for me. More of them please.
Love this album. This track gives me some Dillinger vibes
"But you forget that in your fairytales, bitch, I'm the wolf!".
Sorry, I just got super into that song recently :)
I'm loving this album since it came out! My favorite is this and "More Than I Could Chew".
Man, I've been so busy I have lots of videos of yours to binge and catch up. But love to see you continuing this year. Gonna check your update on your surgery. Seems it went well. Just happy to see new videos. 😁🤘
I have thought about another Mastodon reaction and it came
The whole album is fn awesome
Capillarian Crest by Mastodon will make you happy. Do yourself a solid, my friend.
This track is from the 2021 album Hushed and Grim. A concept double album and a true masterpiece. 15 tracks running over 87 minutes and not even 1 track that is below the rest in any way. The most consistently brilliant rock album I ever heard and the best album of 2021 if you ask me. Please delve into the rest of this album as soon as you can, track by track!
You mentioned at the end you didn't know what year. This is from 2021. It's their latest album 😁
Day 18 of asking when the next MUSE breakdown is going to be -- so many beautiful tracks with string arrangements, arpeggiated synths, Matt's voice, and some of the coolest bass lines you'll enjoy for sure.
Here is a list of potentials:
- Citizen Erased, United States of Eurasia, City of Delusion, New Born, Hyper Music, the list goes on...
Mastodon - Teardrinker
Spot on with the YYZ comparison, the main hook has that feel for sure!
I would like to recommend listening to Mastodon - Toe to Toes and watch the in studio performance and it is just magical. I would also like to add in The Czar and Oblivion as some of the bands best songs but to me my favorite is Toe to Toes!
Hushed and Grim didn't end up in my album top 15 of 2021 for nothing (3rd spot)!
Such a diverse (double) album with so many layers indeed! I felt it was a good record from the start but the more you listen to it, the better it gets and gets and gets! Superb!
Cool vid again Geebz! Always love the facial expressions when a band surprises you in any way, shape or form! Keep it up! I'M STILL HERE!
I fall in love with it more after every listen
THE LAST BARON!
I see mastodon... I like...
I would recommend the band Killer Be Killed: Troy Sanders (Mastodon) singing/bass guitar, Max Cavalera (Sepultura, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy) singing/rhythm guitar, Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape plan) singing/lead guitar, with Ben Koller playing drums.
"Buy me a Fresca" just about sent me.
Thaaaaa laaassst barruuuuuuunnnn!!!!
DUDE you gotta go medium old to old on Mastodon and Gojira. Their older stuff is SO good!
This entire album is a masterpiece. You should definitely listen to eyes of serpents
Please consider doing an entire week of Mastodon tracks
Suggestions:
Seabeast
Toe to Toes
Where Strides the Behemoth
Mother Puncher
Capillarian Crest
Clandestiny
Creature Lives
Curl of the Burl
The Hunter
The Motherload

Please do ‘The Last Baron’ I think there’d be so much you’d enjoy about it. Multiple singers, funky prog riffs, groovy bass lines, etc. It’s got a couple leads in it that remind me of YYZ by Rush
Ethereal Metal was a very apt description.
Geebz, I hope you are doing well. Thanks for a Mastodon video. Not something we deserved but truly something we have waited for some time:) I'm a big fan of the band, so any song will do for me, but if I may say so, you need to do The Czar or The Last Baron. And I think people here will support me on that. And also, man, you got to check out Pain of Salvation, an outstanding prog band but totally underrated.
I think you should do "The Phalanx" by Trivium soon. It's a masterpiece.
In the court of the dragon and hushed and grim are both so good
Fuck.
YES!
This new album of theirs is really good! I've been listening to it since it came out, pretty much solid.
I'm still here!! ✌✌
And I'm still here, y'all
The. Last. Baron.
Please.
Still here... Gone is Gone is a great experimental metal super group with Mastodon's voice. Now I think the influence has started working in the other direction. This new Mastodon album is the most complex and wonderful thing to come out of 2021. Try Violescent or Echolocation from GiG.
still here!
I have returned. Been stuck in my head the last few weeks.
No matter how you feel about long songs (I honestly don't know), I will still suggest Mastodon's Hearts Alive. It's epic to me, and it might be to you. It was released back when their vocals were harsher, but that doesn't take away from the beauty of the song. The harshness, I feel, enhances the depicted madness of Ahab's journey, as told across the album. It's full of a lot of good riffs, drum work, and an amazing solo. It's not a boring 13 minutes.
There's also one section of the song where Troy stops playing the bass for a bit, but then starts again. He does that a bit on some other songs as well such as Crystal Skull. Sometimes I focus too much on the guitars, so it's a great reminder of its importance.
These guys got a Frank Zappa time signature = )
Never fail to make my boss man🤝🏼
The czar or anything off of crack the sky album. Yea !!
My suggestion - The Last Baron :)
Still here! The last baron off crack the sky is great. Most of that album is really good, quintessence, oblivion
Yea buddy. Mend that arm.
Old meshuggah. Gods of rapture off of the nine album. That is with your time. Time changes melodic solos. Oooooooo. Can’t wait. Thanks Always still here. Awwlright
I’d like to see a video of you breaking down some of your favorite songs. Maybe you have and I just haven’t seen but that would be interesting!
This album was produced by David Bottrill who did a few of the Tool records. Also request The Czar
I have Fresca in my fridge right now. It's delicious.
Oblivion , the czar , mother puncher next please !!! Greetings from french polynesia
i'm still here. great call on maston! get well soon :)
A recent one of theirs but i like it! 🤘🏼please do some Sepultura!! 👏
Would love to see you react to The Bled - Daylight Bombings
Amazing stuff, as usual! Rivers Dancing by Gordian Knot, pretty please with sugar on top!
Check out "Oblivion" for their next song.
Ice Cold Fresca is an underrated beverage.
I'm like two months behind on your uploads but when I saw you posted this I had to watch immediately. Their new album was my favorite album of 2021. My favorite track is Sickle and Peace, but Gobblers of Dregs is also great. Also still waiting for The Czar and The Last Baron from their Crack the Skye album
Gosh I hope one day you would do their "Sleeping Giant".
Anyhoo nice vid as always! thank you
Fresca and Sauza mmmm. Learning about these guys via you. Loving it. Agreed on the Rush influence. Vocals are cool also.
Still here, Troy Sanders is their bassist/vocalist, while Brann Dailor is their (octopus) drummer/vocalist
Please do Dimmu Borgir "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse"
You absolutely need to do Won't Stand Down by Muse. Just came out last week and for once all the Muse fans can agree that it is a great song. You've done one of their songs before.
Honestly Geebz, this latest album of theirs, top 10 albums of all time in my books. I can listen to the whole album, not skipping a song, just letting it take me on a journey. Please listen to it when you get a chance, for your own enjoyment. Hushed and Grim :)
also, i'm still here, lol, gobblers of dregs or eyes of serpents off that album, if you wanna do another review :) \m/
Hearts Alive
That whole album is awesome it only came out a couple of months ago
I am 33 years old, and fresca is the only soda I keep at home. It is actually kind of hard to come by these days. Tin shortage slowed their production. It literally is the best soda though.
