It pained me to see how she could just go and have fun and live life like we never existed and yet here I am stuck picking up broken pieces of my ego, heart and self esteem. Heartbreak never gets easier, we just get stronger. I know what helped me was shifting my mindset to focus on what great things I do have in my life. Sure I might not be dating the person whom I thought I was going to spend my life with, but I have a roof over my head, food in my stomach, clothes on my back and a job/career path I’m pursuing. If your ex still is willingly to talk to you and has feelings still then it should work within weeks or months depending on the person and how the relationship ended. But they didn't want you when they had you, who's to say if y'all get back together that the cycle won't repeat?
No contact is really proven effective based on my experience. Don't stalk and just leave them alone after a few days later you'll just received a non sense text from your ex saying things that happened in the past. Just stay in the course and eventually she'll come back.
You mentioned that the person will bring up the past. So what does it mean if I fell out with an ex 4 years ago (He was my ex back then too.) and had no contact. Then, out if the blue, he texted me about running into my ex coworker's husband, who I barely know. After light hearted catching up, he went left and started bringing up our past with exact details. Then he started insulting me. When I gave him the floor to express what his beef was with me, he denied that anything was wrong. Then continued bringing up more of the past with more insults towards me. I told him about himself and insulted him back and he did not respond. Mind you, he is married with kids and supposedly very happy, which he made sure to let me know. So what was that all about? Why do guys do stuff like that?

If she's doing all these things while with someone than I feel bad for her boyfriend bc i doubt he knows what she's doing behind his back when she's reaching out to you. Facts , she told me I was her person stayed with her through surgery and had her tell me that she wanted to be there for me at my lowest, just to kick me to the side of the curb when I was homeless and leave me with nothing, I was living in my car with a fight coming up still training and when I lost I fell in a deep depression, I broke no contact with her out of anger a few weeks ago and I wish I never did, that woman gave me demons, pushed me to suicide again and everything, Idek what the point of living is anymore she won’t ever apologize or even understand what things I’ve had to witness sense she through me out to the side like trash when all I did was try to love her, and it was my first relationship, she said she just used men and me for dick and money that’s it

Eventually around the first 4 months dating she seemed sorta unhappy with not moving to that big college, so i repeatedly asked “what’s so wrong about the college you’re already in if all that matters is what you study” but she never understood. I said to myself ok, she definitely has a goal she wants for when she’s older so she can someday say “yeah i graduated from that bigger college” but tbh i think she could have just matured from that. We both knew we couldn’t handle long distance because fr fr we were deeply in love man. So i thought maybe she just needs to go alone because there’s no way i’m going with her and leave my career. Apart from work I still have my goals of becoming a real estate /property entrepreneur someday, and well, i guess her goal was to flex the college she graduated from. Once we hit 5-6 months I initiated the break up, it was so painful to do but i felt like it was the right thing to do and what was worse was when she didn’t want to leave, so i was probably being a piece of shit to her for ignoring her sometimes or me posting at a bar so she can loose interest in me. We hung out after the breakup, and i’m ngl, i really felt like i wanted to still work this out with her, but she said maybe we do need to break up or just reconnect at a later time. So it’s been 2 months since the breakup and she did say we don’t have to do a no communication contract, so i sometimes would hit her up to ask how it’s going, i told her i missed her and still live her so much, but all she really would say was she still needs time to consider reconnecting before she actually moves to that university in August 2024. She slowly started to ghost me, i texted her a heartfelt Merry christmas text and she took a day to respond but yet she saw my story the day i texted her. This is true especially since I was that ex who still had feelings for someone and even tho they somewhat had feelings when we first started back talking, she doesn’t have feelings for me anymore and given that, she doesn’t really wanna talk to me anymore even tho we’re somewhat friends which is understandable and so many ways. Well, I can truly tell you that is much easier said than done! You really can’t make a blanket statement that people should get over their ex’s… some break ups are absolutely painful!!! Perhaps it would be easier to get over a break up if it was done with consideration and compassion, or it was mutual, but a lot of break ups don’t end that way, people are mean, spirited, hurtful, hateful, vengeful, and that may take time to get through because you usually go to stages of grief. And after investing your care, concern, encouragement, kindness, support, energy money, etc. etc. in a person that you believe was just as invested in you but then you find out you were being cheated on or they were in the relationship. For the benefit of it all… Can really be quite damn hurtful to your heart, and I don’t think that’s something you And your pain is valid! But once you begin to sort things out and look at the relationship with a different lens… You will begin to know that they did not value appreciate you and you deserve much much better, and you are better off without them, and then , the process of moving on or getting over is now in full affect! I’m 25 already working 4 years after college in a tech job moved 8hrs from my hometown into a huge city & when i met her at the new city she was a 19 year old part time cashier and still in college. She told me she always wanted to transfer to a much bigger college to graduate from (5hrs away from the city we both lived) , I said maybe i could go with you but i’m already locked in my career so i tried convincing her to stay in her current university. Eventually around the first 4 months dating she seemed sorta unhappy with not moving to that big college, so i repeatedly asked “what’s so wrong about the college you’re already in if all that matters is what you study” but she never understood. She just said she wasn’t enjoying the college experience like she thought she would and maybe that bigger college would give her that. I said to myself ok, she definitely has a goal she wants for when she’s older so she can someday say “yeah i graduated from that bigger college” but tbh i think she could have just matured from that. We both knew we couldn’t handle long distance because fr fr we were deeply in love man. So i thought maybe she just needs to go alone because there’s no way i’m going with her and leave my career. Apart from work I still have my goals of becoming a real estate /property entrepreneur someday, and well, i guess her goal was to flex the college she graduated from. Once we hit 5-6 months I initiated the break up, it was so painful to do but i felt like it was the right thing to do and what was worse was when she didn’t want to leave, so i was probably being a piece of shit to her for ignoring her sometimes or me posting at a bar so she can loose interest in me. We hung out after the breakup, and i’m ngl, i really felt like i wanted to still work this out with her, but she said maybe we do need to break up or just reconnect at a later time. So it’s been 2 months since the breakup and she did say we don’t have to do a no communication contract, so i sometimes would hit her up to ask how it’s going, i told her i missed her and still live her so much, but all she really would say was she still needs time to consider reconnecting before she actually moves to that university in August 2024. She slowly started to ghost me, i texted her a heartfelt Merry christmas text and she took a day to respond but yet she saw my story the day i texted her. And worse, on New Year right at 12:00am i gave her a paragraph telling her she was the best thing to happen to me in 2023. And guess what? She hasn’t even opened it and it’s well past 2-3 days. But yet she still has been seeing my stories in the gym and with family these same past 2-3 days. So she’s choosing to ignore my texts but still wants to see what i’m up to. I miss her to death, but she seemed to slowly ghost within the last month. My most rational assumptions are 1.She moved on by talking to someone else or 2.She’s probably mad about how things ended and feels i don’t deserve text replies. When she was the one that said “I’m only a text away” when we hung out the last 2 times after the breakup. You know what, after typing all this shit i’m pretty pissed now & wondering why the hell am i tripping. Idk but i still love her and want us to work out someday, but i don’t want to look to emotional and text her “So you’ll see what i’m up to in my stories but won’t even text me back happy new years & pouring my heart out that i still love you?” Should i text her this or just wait until she decides to read it and replies.

Well, I can truly tell you that is much easier said than done! You really can’t make a blanket statement that people should get over their ex’s… some break ups are absolutely painful!!! Perhaps it would be easier to get over a break up if it was done with consideration and compassion, or it was mutual, but a lot of break ups don’t end that way, people are mean, spirited, hurtful, hateful, vengeful, and that may take time to get through because you usually go to stages of grief. And after investing your care, concern, encouragement, kindness, support, energy money, etc. etc. in a person that you believe was just as invested in you but then you find out you were being cheated on or they were in the relationship.
