    • @laraemitchell9064
      @laraemitchell9064 3 года назад +17

      IMO, if the subject came up in a conversation with the neighbor about planting trees on their property, you could offer. But I’m with Laura. I think to just “out of the blue” bring it up and suggest it to them, might be a bit presumptuous. After all, if they wanted trees there, they would probably have put some in. A lot depends on how well you know them on a social level.

    • @ellenreilley3938

      Your neighbors probably watch your videos so you might not need to ask. 👍

    • @themamabearlife3339
      @themamabearlife3339 3 года назад +13

      They could start the conversation just by simply asking if the view of their storage bothers them. And since many people will deny it, even if it does.... then he could just say, "Well, if you ever get to the point where it does, please just let me know. We would be willing to plants some trees for you for free if you would like them." Then just leave it up to the neighbor to let them know. It doesn't have to be a big thing. Just a friendly offer...

      My opinion,, I think Laura and Aaron had a great response to that question. To Keep life ordinary, Benjamin wanders out while she ifilming & working in their garden, he is a part of the video for a bit, but not showcased, nor is Samantha Grace. How to create outdoor garden rooms within an overall landscape. Will you ever host a retreat? How about tips and tricks for us scrawny, short gals over 50 who don't want to greet our hubbies at the end of every day with a punch list of garden chores. I'm retired but hubby is not. Will the auger rotate me or will it work easily in clay? How much kick power do I need for that foot weeder? How many of what size bag of compost is reasonable to push on a hand cart down a garden path? I LOVE that you show the various products and plants and mention names. And the hose reel! Wow. Just thanks for working so hard for us and for loving what you do.

    Could you possibly please do a video about the different bugs, maybe what they look like and what the leaves would look like also? And what to use for such problems. I could learn a lot from such. Thanks

    Im from the Southern USA (SC) and in The South it is extremely common to call someone sweetie, honey, sugar, pumpkin, baby...and not just your significant other. Those are names you would use with all family and friends including your favorite waiter or waitress at your favorite restaurants. But I've lived in the Midwest too and saw how uncommon it was there. So it is a cultural thing.

      I call people hun, I'm from Cali. But not everyone feels comfortable doing so. I once heard a man get upset when the cashier said "anything else hun? " Oh man he let her have it. This was in Oklahoma. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don't see anything wrong either way.

      I use to work in customer service answering the phone. In the call center I worked at we took calls from all over the USA. So I educated my Midwest coworkers on how people in The South talk. Once they understood it was cultural they stopped being offended any time a person called them Honey. But I will say that you can tell a difference between someone in The South saying honey in a friendly loving way vs. someone from somewhere else saying honey. It definitely has different connotations.

    My grandad always wore long sleeve shirts and pants, Dickey brand I believe. Always! And he had the most beautiful and large garden all year, every year. Oh, and the hat. My oldest brother got the hat when he died. It is cooler with a button down shirt. He told me when you sweat, and the breeze comes, then it cools you off. Bless his heart. What a fine man. Thanks for that memory. You and Aaron are such blessings. I would not even read those challenging comments about what you or anyone wears or does. Like Aaron said, you do you. And God bless you both. 👏🏻💕👏🏻

    I love and so appreciate all of the videos that are exclusively about landscape gardening. I also like the newer style of “chore landscape maintenance” with the audio track over. You really provide Garden Answer(s) and with more scale than most of us can manage. I would love to see more landscape work from inexpensive sources: seeds, propagation, and 2” or 4” pots grown into an entire bed over time. Thank you!

    One issue I encountered with my new Hoselink this Spring was a bird was attempting to make a nest inside the plastic cover! Luckily, I caught it after the first day and I have small hands so was able to remove all the sticks they moved inside. I had to throw a shopping bag over the cover to block the opening for the next couple of weeks to make sure no one else decided to move in and jam up the hose. LOL I never would have thought this might be an issues, but I guess every Spring I will need to keep an eye out. haha

    I loved the driftwood plant piece! It was a welcome change and it’s still about planting. I would’ve never thought about wrapping the roots. You have opened more ways to plant for me and I’m sure others. So, thank you. For those that didn’t care for it, brush it off. Not everyone is going to like everything about gardening, like I despise weeding. But, I’m sure glad you shown products it use to combat these nasty buggers. Hats off to you guys, keep on doing you. A lot of us love watching all your content.

    35:37 as one of the lucky Australians that Retractable Hoses are the "norm" for, the best advice I can give for extending the life of your retractable hose is to make sure you empty it of water before you retract it. I turn off the faucet and as I walk it back in as it's retracting I have the trigger on to empty out any excess water.
    Also I use one around my raised veggie beds, I just pull it out fully down the middle of all my beds and then move between them watering and when I'm done I go back to the long position to reel it back in (I hope that make sense).

I love your fairy gardens and little projects like that but the woodland garden was one of my favorites that you've done. I love those kinds of things and would love to see more. I think one would be really wonderful and when you get your Hartley landscaped and sitting area where your bricks are to make a large one so you could view it from where you're sitting done in some neat container like 4 ft by 6 ft but with cute little things in it like a giant elemental garden. Benjamin could help you. Would love to see that.
